Chapter Index

On the day I went to the main house to gather ingredients, I realized what world I had transmigrated into.

At the main gate on the way to the main house, several servants were gathered in a flurry.

Curious about what was happening, I approached closely and my legs gave out at the sight before me.

I raised my head along the window hanging on the main gate with trembling eyes.

There was the head chef who had secretly brought me meat last time.

But now, he was only a head without a body.

“What’s going on, Chef? What happened?”

“I heard he disobeyed Lady Helena’s orders.”

“Really? Why would he do that?”

Listening to the voices around me, I realized that the reason the chef died was because of me.

    ‘Helena…’

Living with Lily made me so happy that I had forgotten. This world had tormented and killed Lily countless times.

I had let my guard down.

In reality, I was the one who had caused Lily the most harm by living here. I had been living thoughtlessly.

I needed to move cautiously. I had forgotten that Lady Helena knew about receiving help from the main house.

She must have found out eventually. Perhaps the maids usually just brought things carelessly and mechanically. So, they probably didn’t pay much attention.

But I had brought the best vegetables and meats to give Lily enough nutrition.

Repeatedly bringing these meant providing her with quality meals, which might have irked her.

That’s why she stopped me from bringing meat. I should have realized then. I should have known at that moment.

    Perhaps this was her warning.

“Oh my, is this Amelia, the new maid for Lily?”

A slimy voice, like a bug crawling over me, came from behind.

As I slowly turned my head, Lady Helena stood in front of me, covering her nose and mouth with a fan.

She had a height similar to mine, long reddish-brown hair flowing with a fierce aura.

Her attire and various accessories displayed her authority here.

Her sharp eyes felt like snakes.

Even her fan looked extremely expensive.

While I was taken aback, Lady Helena reached out her hand to me.

As if urging me to take it and stand up.

I didn’t want to hold Helena’s hand, but if I didn’t do it here, my life could be in danger, so reluctantly, I took her hand and stood up.

“I’ve always wanted to meet Lily’s maid. It’s a pity we meet here.”

Just as I was about to release her hand.

    -Squeeze.

Helena’s hand tightened, not allowing me to let go. Then, she lightly scratched my palm with her index finger, sending shivers down my spine.

    “Ah, ahem…!”

“People said you were pretty, but you are more beautiful than I imagined.”

    -Blush.

As she spoke, Lady Helena laughed, making my body tremble.

Carefully withdrawing my hand from hers, I bowed and lowered my head. I just couldn’t bear to look at her.

“T-Thank you, Lady Helena. But you are far more beautiful.”

    “Hehe~ Thank you.”

Lady Helena chuckled at my compliment, then began to explain why the incident occurred, as if saying, “This is all your fault.”

“I specifically told the chef not to give meat to Lily since the quality was poor recently, but he disobeyed, you know?”

With a smiling face, Lady Helena calmly lied, making me feel uneasy.

    “Is Lily doing well?”

    “Yes.”

Upon Lily’s inquiry, Lady Helena responded with a smile, “That’s fortunate. I heard Lily is doing well.”

I couldn’t bring myself to reply to her words. Engaging in further conversation with her seemed distasteful to me.

Lady Helena, scrutinizing my face intently, began to make peculiar remarks.

“Isn’t it tough for Lily to endure? Over ten maids have come and gone before Lily. They couldn’t withstand it.”

    “Pardon?”

“Due to constant insults and neglect, they all abandoned Lily.”

As Lady Helena finished speaking, silence ensued, followed by a meaningful expression as she made me an offer.

“Instead of toiling as a burdened maid, how about working as my maid? You’re too beautiful to ignore. It would be a waste on Lily.”

    “Helena, Lady Helena!?”

A woman who appeared to be Helena’s maid behind her exclaimed in surprise.

    -Zap.

However, with just a single glance, the maid fell silent, her lips tightly sealed.

“I’ve never seen someone this beautiful before. Even among nobles, it seems rare, doesn’t it?”

Helena’s gaze traveled from my toes up to my chest, pausing at my face.

It felt like insects crawling all over my body. It was repulsive. I wanted to get out of there quickly.

Seeing me speechless, Helena chuckled and said, “Don’t take it too seriously. Just know that I’m interested. Please take care of Lily for now. Oh, make sure to take the meat back.”

Thankfully, Helena left after saying her piece. As soon as she departed, I sank back down to the ground.

I was so ignorant of this world.

Seeing the villain I had only seen in games in person gave me chills and fear.

After looking at her, memories of how Amelia was tortured flooded back.

    “Oh… Oh…”

This was bad. Helena seems to have taken a liking to me. Could it be that she’s interested in women…

I don’t know what to do now. If her personality is anything to go by, I have no idea what she might do until I become her maid.

She’s so wicked, capable of killing people and being so ruthless. What lengths will she go to possess me?

Ah… It’s too late. Lily must be waiting. I need to hurry before Lily gets into trouble again.

Forcing strength into my trembling legs, I stood up and rushed back to the main building.

Upon reaching the kitchen, I saw a woman who appeared to be the head cook.

“Welcome. I heard from Lady Helena. You can take what’s here.”

The ingredients were neatly packed in a large bag where she pointed.

“It’s a lightweight enchanted bag, so you can carry it comfortably.”

Excessive. Providing such convenience to a maid is clearly a way to show interest and demonstrate that one could be at ease as her maid.

But I will never go under her. Never.

As I almost reached the annex with the ingredients, I found Lily standing in front of it, visibly upset.

She held my nightgown and necklace in each hand.

Upon seeing Lily’s face, tears I had been holding back streamed down my cheeks.

My legs seemed to give out again, and before I knew it, I was sitting on the ground.

Lily noticed me and ran towards me. I didn’t want to show her this side of me… I didn’t want to appear weak…

The death of a stranger. The gruesomely severed neck. The sound of blood dripping onto the floor.

Helena, who easily killed people and repeatedly killed Lily.

Suddenly, an overwhelming amount of information scrambled my mind, and I collapsed.

    In front of Lily.

    “You’re late. Too late.”

I had never been this late before. My room without Amelia felt incredibly vast.

Now, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to endure the scent of Amelia’s pajamas and the necklace filled with the scent of her chest.

I want to visit the main building, but I can’t go because of a promise with Amelia. So, for now, I decided to wait in front of the annex.

“What could have happened? Is she gossiping with the head chef…? Certainly, given Amelia’s personality, I can’t easily ignore this.”

While contemplating what to do about the head chef, I noticed Amelia walking towards me in the distance.

    However, Amelia seems strange.

The Amelia I always saw through the window used to walk brightly and energetically.

Now, her shoulders, which were always held high, were drooping, and her steps were slow.

And the head that used to be held high to see me coming through the window was now looking down at the ground as she walked.

A sight of Amelia I had never seen before.

    And our eyes meeting.

As soon as Amelia saw me, she burst into tears and sank to the floor.

Without thinking, I ran to Amelia.

As I approached, Amelia leaned on me as if collapsing.

    “Sob… Huk… Li-Li, Lady Lili…”

It was the first time I had seen Amelia struggle so much, including the past.

Amelia, crying, began to explain the things she had been through.

My mind became colder than ever before.

“Helena… I can tolerate you messing with me. But dare you touch my mother?”
