Chapter Index

After ten days, my condition returned to a level where I could fight.

It was faster for the armor to be repaired than for the body to recover.

I couldn’t be indebted to the academy’s healing priest.

They probably know very well that there is no way I could get an injury like this in just that amount of practice.

So, if I call a healing priest, that itself remains as evidence that I have done something.

I also had Nigel repair the armor, not at the academy, but at an outside blacksmith.

…Because of that, the repair costs were a bit high.

I’ll have to ask for the purifier that Asha said she would make for me later.

Right now, the armor was more urgent than the equipment that would block the smell.

I originally tried to ask Lacey, a candidate for sainthood, for healing, but she still hasn’t returned from the church’s aid station.

Same goes for Lacey, and a guy named Evian. I can’t see them staying in the special room at all.

In the meantime, I stayed in my room and made plans for my next fight, which was a little over two months away.

Three months into the semester, a large-scale attack occurred during the midterm exam.

    —-

“Are you okay, Hashal? I came to you because I was worried because you didn’t show up for lectures or come out of your room.”

One time while I was recuperating in my room, Asha came to my room.

“Just taking a break. Asha, did anything happen to you?”

“Well, I don’t really have anything other than the regret that I couldn’t see the fight between Hashall and Knut.”

    Asha slowly smiled.

    Did you even notice it?

Well, Asha knew that Knut was against me, and she also knew that I was quite wary of Knut.

In that situation, if Knut was sitting on the bed in the room where he died, he would have roughly guessed what happened.

It wasn’t a big surprise as it was normal for students in the special building to not attend lectures, but Asha went with me.

You probably don’t know that I still try to attend some lectures as much as possible.

Other than Asha, other quick-witted people probably guessed it roughly.

Since there is no evidence, there is no need to question him. The same goes for the empire.

He wouldn’t have any intention of causing friction with the main character of Ka’har, whom he would use later, just because of a new Dane who is not a pure imperialist.

First of all, from the empire’s point of view, Knut is also a very suspicious person.

The fact that a person who showed only Damian-level abilities during the entrance ceremony was able to fight to the death with me to that extent means that he was hiding most of his skills from the Empire.

“First of all, don’t particularly tell other people about that.”

“Of course! I don’t really have anyone close enough to make small talk like that in the first place.”

Well, he’s busy with his research, so he doesn’t attend school very diligently.

The first impression of the sparring class was very strong.

Is it characteristic of special students that they don’t have many friends?

“Then that’s enough. More than that, that. Have you already made the purification device?”

“No? I’ve only made the design yet. Shall we make it slowly?”

That’s good. It would have been difficult if I had already made it.

If you only have a design in place, you can put it off for a bit.

“No, then I would like to ask for something else than that. A sword or something like that. Is it possible?”

“A sword? It doesn’t matter…you have a good sword, right? Gin is full of smell.”

Asha gently pointed at Aimela’s sword.

This was also a sword made of true silver. For some reason, the performance was extremely good.

That’s good. Jin-eun would be comfortable when dealing with wizards, and her attacks would also work well against demons of the necromantic species.

Because true silver is a metal that breaks magical power.

“This is a good sword… but since it is so precious, it is rather difficult to take it out at any time. But if you just use a steel sword, it will break if you swing it ten times.”

“Hmm… If the problem is that it can’t withstand the force and breaks, I guess I could make one out of black iron alloy. The blade will become dull but will not break easily.”

It’s black iron. The black weapons Knut used were probably also made of black iron.

“Then, can you make me a gauntlet like this too?”

He explained the appearance of frost feet.

The real frost is no different from a weapon that throws away one’s life, so it cannot be used at all.

I’ll have to find a way to resolve the curse later.

After I get to know the candidate for sainthood, should I at least ask her a question?

“Yes. A black iron longsword and offensive gauntlets. I’ll give it to you for 20 gold.”

    “Is it 20 gold?…Yes, please.”

With trembling hands, he took out a gold coin and handed it over.

Almost all of the gold coins were gone before I knew it.

    It’s definitely a huge discount, but it’s still expensive…

Still, you won’t be out of money for a while.

“I received 20 gold! I’ll make it for you until the day after tomorrow!”

Asha happily returned to her room.

The equipment I received two days later was worth the 20 gold.

    —-

After recovering somewhat, I attended a lecture for the first time in a long time.

Originally, it was a theology lecture that I would have passed, but I also wanted to see the faces of my group members and Damian.

The atmosphere in the classroom had changed a little.

The previous buzz of anticipation had faded, and everyone looked rather gloomy.

The seats in the classroom were also empty here and there.

Well, the fact that 14 people disappeared means that one out of ten people died.

…There was no way to help.

It was difficult to wander through that wide forest alone, and anyone who died here would never survive the next battle.

If they wanted to live, they too had to become strong themselves.

Still, since we went around as a group of four, I thought there would be two or three victims.

Even if we exclude Knut, I would never have guessed that thirteen would die.

    “Ah, Hashal! Hello!”

“Yes. Looks like you’ve been doing well so far.”

Lana found me and smiled slightly and said hello.

Still, he doesn’t seem that gloomy. Fortunately.

Hans sat down in his seat and just nodded slightly in my direction.

I answered with a shrug of my shoulders and then headed towards Damian and Millia.

“Ten days. I guess you had a harder time than you thought?”

The moment she passed by Ophelia, she whispered softly.

    This guy noticed it too.

    “Well.”

I answered briefly and passed by.

Because it would not be a good idea to become deeply involved with Ophelia at this point.

She is like a widow spider with a lot of poison inside her.

The closer he got, the more likely he was to be taken advantage of.

We were already involved when we accepted the previous offer, but… that’s probably within the acceptable range. for now.

Behind my back, I could only hear Ophelia laughing quietly.

I sat down next to Millia.

“Welcome, Hashal. It’s been 10 days.”

She, too, now accepts me calmly and greets me without being surprised when I sit next to her.

Perhaps because they knew that I was reluctant to reveal that I had been injured, they did not ask me about my injuries or my well-being.

Come to think of it, Lana was like that too. Everyone is perceptive.

“Yes. It’s been a while. Millia, and Damian.”

“You must have been busy for a while? Anyway, I’m glad that I got to know Millia a lot during the training.”

    Damian smiled brightly and nodded.

Well, we became very close friends.

…You must have become friends, right?

“Yes. Because I talked to Damien the way he said. We also stayed together.”

Millia slightly bowed her head and smiled.

    I didn’t think I showed a particularly good performance.

I think I cried on the first day because I was unfaithful, threatened, and killed people.

After that, I was just carried around like a piece of luggage for three days.

Still, when I saw that smile, I felt a tickle for some reason.

First, I decided to change the topic.

“More than that, Damian, I heard your group caught three trolls. Was it worth dealing with?”

“Uh. Sure, the playback was a bit cumbersome, but it was a good experience.”

    …It shouldn’t be a hassle. Maybe it’s just humility?

If you were at the level of skill you had at the entrance ceremony, you probably would have cut off the troll’s head right away.

“By the way, Hashal, this is the first time you came to my theology lecture. Have you become curious about this religion?”

    “A little bit.”

    It definitely sparked some interest.

In the game, it was just a background setting that differentiated the characteristics of the priests, but it didn’t seem to be that big of a deal here.

At least, Bölberg and Schaulitte have shown interest in me.

It might be worth listening to in case you don’t know about other gods.

The theology instructor was a middle-aged man wearing a priest’s uniform from the El Pinel Church.

    The lecture was extremely boring.

“…Thus, the 11 surviving denominations came together and united into one, forming the current 11 Main Theological Churches. Other races still worship their traditional tribal gods…”

There are many gods in this world.

The eleven main gods that humans serve.

Four tribal gods served by different races.

The four major evil spirits handed down through records.

Even ancient gods whose records have been forgotten.

Today’s lecture was about the 11 main gods and the history of each denomination.

I listened to it in moderation and only remembered the parts I didn’t know to kill time.

I guess I’ll explain more about evil gods and ancient gods later.

    —-

I spent the afternoon training with Nigel.

My senses may have become dull while resting for over ten days.

    Fortunately, that didn’t happen.

    Rather, my skills improved.

I was now completely able to deal with Nigel’s sword.

I still haven’t figured out how to use karma.

“How to use karma? That…it’s hard to explain in words…”

Even when I asked Nigel, he seemed confused.

“Like a child who was crawling suddenly walks. It’s a feeling that, as you build it up, you suddenly realize how to use it.”

In the end, I have no choice but to realize it myself. It’s difficult.

If we fight, will we realize it someday?

“Rather, it is strange that Hashal, who has accumulated so much karma, is not able to use it properly.”

Well, these things were not built by me, but by Hershela.

It goes without saying that I don’t know how to use it.

Although I can’t reveal that fact.

In the end, I decided to postpone learning how to utilize karma.

    It will happen someday. Someday.

While I was leaving, I also asked how to deal with prisoners.

The next enemies to deal with were the beastmen hiding in the empire.

“Do you mean Suin…? It’s an opponent we don’t often see in the East. Each one of them is a tough enemy, but…”

“Do you think you don’t know the details of weaknesses or things to watch out for?”

“I’ve never fought them directly…so if you’re looking for individual weaknesses, wouldn’t it be better to ask an expert?”

    expert?

    Oh, there was one. upstairs.

    A girl with no friends.

    …Let’s go.

I went to Friede and knocked on his door.

A moment later, the door opened and silver hair came out.

    “What, who…”

Friede’s face frowned like a troll when he saw me.

    “Get out.”

The door closed with a bang.

It was closed so hard that the hallway was vibrating.

    No, this woman is real.
