Chapter Index

The eccentric man kindly explained the reason for his sudden change of heart.

While it may be a good thing to nurture talented students, he also enjoys helping those in need.

“What exactly does it mean to enjoy helping people? I don’t understand.”

    “Me neither.”

From the moment we accepted the eccentric man’s sponsorship, my sister and I had to experience some strange things.

First, we ate delicious food until our stomachs were full.

When we couldn’t eat anymore, a pretty lady appeared and helped us clean up.

It was embarrassing to receive help at the age of 13, so we promised to do things ourselves from now on.

    Sniff-

“Since I washed with scented soap, I feel like I smell good.”

After using the products that the pretty lady taught us, our hair became soft, our faces became fair, and a pleasant scent emanated from our bodies.

On top of that, we wore soft pajamas, albeit a bit big.

It was impossible not to feel good.

“Danya, tonight we will sleep in a bed, not in the shadows.”

    “Okay.”

“You wanted to sleep in a bed, right?”

“Yes, can I sleep well? Will you sleep well too, sister?”

“Yes. Since I will sleep well, you should rest too.”

    “Got it.”

We lay down on the bed and snuggled under the soft blanket.

    “Is it that good?”

“It’s amazing! I wish we could live here forever.”

Since he offered sponsorship, it wasn’t an impossible dream.

    “Will we receive sponsorship?”

    “I’m not sure.”

“Why~! You said we would accept it earlier.”

“Accepting gifts and going out is not the same. We need to be careful if he wants to bring us here and raise us. If we entrust our living space to him completely, we won’t have a backup plan if we get abandoned.”

    “Can’t we just be happy?”

    “You can be happy.”

“I don’t want to be the only one happy. I want to see you happy too.”

“I am happy inside. I just don’t show it.”

“Show it. My intuition tells me that the eccentric man is a good person.”

Having developed a keen intuition to survive on the rough streets, we were told that we could relax and enjoy ourselves here.

Despite having made mistakes in the past by ignoring my intuition due to immediate pleasures, I had never gone wrong when I followed my intuition.

“In fact, I feel the same way.”

    “You too?”

“Yes. I feel like we can relax here. But that’s why I’m more cautious. If you feel the same way, we both can relax. If my intuition is wrong, what will we do?”

    “I understand what you’re saying.”

My sister was preparing for the worst-case scenario just in case.

“Then today, do what you want, sister. And tomorrow, rest peacefully.”

    “Will tomorrow be any different?”

“Yes. Tomorrow, I’ll be cautious. While you relax, I’ll rest too.”

It was possible because there were two of us.

One day for my sister, one day for me.

By taking turns resting and being cautious, we could avoid the worst-case scenario.

My sister’s expression brightened, indicating that she agreed with my words.

Lying on the soft bed, sleep came easily.

    “Sister, I’m sleepy.”

    “Yes, sleep well.”

I held my warm sister’s hand and drifted into a dream.

It seemed like I would have a pleasant dream.

“The twins are so cute. But they’re 13 years old, right?”

    “Yes.”

“They look like they’re about 8 years old at first glance.”

“They probably didn’t have anyone to take care of them. From now on, we’ll take good care of them.”

Having lived on the streets, there was no way they could have had proper meals on time.

Even if they ate, it wouldn’t compare to home-cooked meals with other children.

Awakening to use my abilities would surely make me hungry frequently, so I was worried about how I would eat and live.

“Even though I’m young, I’m an awakened being, so I probably didn’t starve.”

Moreover, now that I will take good care of myself, won’t I grow up well from now on?

“It seems like I need to be cautious because I’m an awakened being. I apologize for bringing you here and saying this, but I would appreciate it if you could help the children adapt well for a while.”

“Of course! You probably didn’t even need to ask. It’s so nice to be able to spend time with the cute kids. I don’t know if it’s noticeable, but my heart fluttered the moment I saw the kids. It’s something I really wanted to do.”

Fran, who had separated from her at a young age, had a special interest in young children.

Even when running the store, the older she got, the more attention she received from Nega.

“Maybe it’s because I miss Fran.”

Although she had reunited with Fran, there was no way to turn back the time that had already passed.

Regretting the time that had slipped away without being spent with her daughter, she found some solace in watching Ruya and Danya.

    “Viscount Hutton….”

Although it may seem sudden, anger towards Viscount Hutton surged again.

“I can’t just let it go.”

Thinking about the time Nega suffered because of that guy, it was impossible not to be angry.

Anyway, with Danya and Ruya coming in this time, it seemed like she could ease her regrets about things she hadn’t been able to do with Fran.

“So, are you okay with staying together?”

“Yes! I really really like it. I hope we can spend a long time together.”

Nega enthusiastically agreed to the twins coming into the building where she lived.

“For about a year, I plan to stay here and teach basic knowledge and writing. When you go to the academy, you’ll be living in the dormitory.”

“You can come back here during vacations.”

“If you want to. But I don’t know if you’ll want to. If you don’t like it, I’ll have to find a room where the sisters can stay together.”

    “You’ll be blessed, Madam.”

    “Well, we’ll see.”

While others may not know, if Ruya and Danya weren’t SSR characters, they would have just taken the poor child to an orphanage and not directly brought them here for support.

Some people show kindness selectively, and it doesn’t seem right to say that they accumulate blessings from it.

“Should we wake the kids up?”

I nodded in response to Nega’s question.

“Yes. At this time, they should be hungry and need to wake up, but seeing that they still haven’t gotten up, they must be tired.”

Although there was plenty of time for them to adapt here, it bothered me that the children were skipping meals at such a growing age.

Even if they were fed and put back to sleep, it seemed like they would be woken up.

Nega went to wake up the kids, and I prepared the food for them on the table.

Seeing the steaming hot soup, I thought I should make lunch with food that the kids would enjoy.

    Thud!

There seems to be quite a commotion in the room.

Still, since there were no screams, it seemed that the kids weren’t causing trouble for Nega.

Multiple footsteps could be heard, and Nega led the way with the twins following behind.

    “Hello.”

    “Hello, sir.”

Seeing Ruya and Danya, I couldn’t help but smile and burst into laughter.

“It seems like they slept well, fortunately.”

Their messy hair and rosy cheeks with faint red marks were adorable.

    Sniff-

    “We’re going to eat.”

Danya, with only one eye half-open, rolled her eyes around.

Sniffing the smell, she shuffled over to the dining table and sat down on the chair.

    “Hoo, hoo, hoo~ Haap!”

Danya couldn’t resist the impulse in front of the food.

She was taken aback by Ruya’s sudden act of eating without permission.

“Wow! What if you eat without permission!”

“Just eat! Unni, you should eat too. Mister, this was made for us to eat.”

How could Danya deny the question from Ruya, who looked at her with innocent eyes?

Even if I had said that I wanted to eat it, I would have been grateful for being allowed to eat.

“Yes. I made it for us to eat. It’s hot, so blow on it and eat carefully.”

“There you go. It’s our deal. Let’s eat. Sit here.”

    Bang-!

She tapped the chair next to her with her hand.

Ruya couldn’t resist Danya’s urging and tried to sit down, but her stomach made a loud growling noise.

    “!!”

Ruya’s face turned red, and Danya burst into laughter at Ruya’s growling noise.

“There you go. That’s why you make that noise when you’re being sneaky. It’s delicious, so eat quickly.”

    “Okay~ Let’s sit.”

Naygi gently pushed Ruya’s back and made her sit down.

Ruya also started eating the soup, and I brought something to eat after the soup.

It was a bread made with plenty of butter to make it soft.

    “Haap-!”

Ruya and Danya both grabbed the bread and ate it.

The crispy outside and moist, sweet inside of the bread made the kids’ eyes widen.

They all looked bright and shiny as if all their worries had disappeared.

Seeing them not eating the fruit jam in front of them and just eating the bread, I decided to show them how to eat it by quickly spreading the fruit jam on it.

As they watched me, they quietly followed suit and ate the fruit jam.

They also drank milk like me, and their actions were so cute that I couldn’t help but smile.

“If you feel sleepy after eating, you can go and rest a bit more.”

“No. I’ll get up. I have things to do.”

    “Things to do?”

“Yes. You told us to stay here, so we’re going to go home and get our things.”

“Good thinking. Do you need help moving your things?”

“No. We can handle it ourselves. We’re capable.”

Listening to Ruya’s words, spending a night here felt worthwhile.

Seeing her satisfied expression, it seemed like she wouldn’t run away without saying a word.

“Don’t overdo it, and come back with her.”

    “Her?”

“She’ll be here soon if you wait a bit.”

The twins had never met Daemon before.

After introducing Daemon to the twins, I would have to go out to the store again to embark on a journey to retrieve the unique equipment.

Having the unique equipment would help the kids open up to me sooner, at least for a day.

And as if waiting for her turn to speak, Daemon descended from the sky and entered the house through the window with a skillful hand in opening the closed window wide.

    “Oh? It’s you, Sada.”

Danya was the first to notice Daemon’s presence, showing interest.
