Chapter Index

    ***

The only light that illuminated the room with the lights off was the moonlight.

A man and a woman vaguely revealed in the dusky light.

A room where we only recognize each other through outlines.

The sound of each other’s breathing filled the calm space.

    “It’s hard.”

    Kang In-ho’s voice contained consideration.

    “Uhm… It’s okay. Rather soft?”

To calm those worries, Yoon Sia smiled awkwardly.

    And then there was silence.

    “It’s warm, right?”

To break the silence, Kang In-ho spoke again.

    “Ugh, it’s warm.”

    Yoon Sia responded immediately.

    “Thank goodness.”

And then there was silence again.

“Or would you like to just sleep in bed? That floor is fine.”

Kang In-ho suggested, as if she was still concerned, and Yoon Sia stood up and waved her hand.

“I’m grateful just for letting me sleep… but I feel too burdened if I even have to rent a bed.”

    “Yes, if you say so.”

Kang In-ho did not ask any more questions. He turned his body from Yoon Sia to face the ceiling.

At first, I was worried about taking Yoon Sia home directly, but I wondered if she would be safe if she went home, as she had already experienced a major incident.

That’s why he decided to let her sleep at home, and fortunately, she accepted his offer without any misunderstanding.

On the contrary, it seemed like he was quite scared of being willing.

After deciding to put her to sleep, I faced another challenge.

The question was where to put her to sleep.

According to the original plan, I was going to have her sleep in the guest room. However, Yun Sia, who was spreading out the bedding in the guest room, had a dying look on her face.

It seems he was afraid of being left alone.

After sleeping in the same room as her, he offered her the floor and lay down on the bed like this.

    A moonlit night.

Yun Shia, lying on the floor, looks at the ceiling and thinks.

When I think about what happened just two hours ago, I still feel like the blood is drying out of my head.

My heart is pounding, my mouth is dry, and my body is shaking.

Just when an unbearable fear is pressing down on my body, I feel the thick blanket that In-ho gave me, wrapping my body comfortably.

The heartbeat subsides, and breathing returns to normal.

    “Inho, are you sleeping?”

In a dark space where the sound of skin brushing against a blanket could be heard occasionally, Yoon Si-ah spoke to him who was not sleeping.

    “…No.”

After a short delay, the answer comes back.

    “Today… I was really thankful.”

    “What.”

He said it as if it was no big deal.

“Your arms and legs… are you okay?”

Even though she confirmed it was okay earlier, she was still worried.

This was because the sound made when the bat broke was so ignored.

    “It’s okay… no.”

Inho’s voice gradually became quieter as Suma came to visit.

Yoon Si-ah also closed her eyes as she listened to In-ho’s quiet breathing.

Feeling the warmth of the blanket covering your body comfortably.

    So the night deepened.

    “Oh man….”

Kang In-ho woke up to the pain rushing through his body.

It was already dawn, and Kang In-ho tried to get up as his vision was brighter than yesterday.

The moment I leaned on my arm to support my body, pain spread through my arm and throughout my body.

    “Oh….”

A moan came out of my mouth without any time to hold it back.

Kang In-ho whined, raised his upper body, and examined his body.

    Swollen arms and legs.

Inho felt his head becoming dizzy as they swelled more than twice as much as the other side.

    “Is it Inho?”

Yoon Si-ah, who woke up from a nap, looked at his arms and legs and opened her sleepy eyes wide.

Until yesterday, it had only turned slightly red, but now it looked like a large chunk of ham had been forcibly tightened.

    “Ah… Is the ligament swollen… or broken…”

Tracing his memories of the martial arts world, he quickly figured out his condition.

“Miss, I have to go to school.”

Whether it was swollen or broken, it would have been difficult to carry out daily life.

    “Can you move?”

Yoon Si-ah asked worriedly as she watched In-ho carefully get out of bed.

“First, I think I should go to the hospital and then go to school.”

“How do you get to the hospital?”

“I should at least call a taxi. Ah, teacher. Are you going to school today? If you don’t go, take a break and then go. I’m going out.”

Inho said while searching for a nearby hospital on his cell phone.

After waking up like that, Inho busily moved around and prepared for school.

Yun Sia followed him with her eyes as he took out his bag and clothes with half-hearted hands.

    “Hey….”

Yoon Si-ah opened her mouth to see him walking around brushing his teeth with his hair in a curled-up hair.

Inho, who was busy, did not hear those words.

    “Over there!”

    Yun Shia called him again.

    “What?”

Inho, with toothpaste foam in his mouth, looked at Yoon Si-ah with unclear pronunciation.

    “I’ll help you.”

Yoon Si-ah, who had already made up her bedding, stood up and faced In-ho.

    “Yes…?”

He looked at her for a moment, not understanding what she meant.

    “Arms and legs.”

Yun Shia pointed to her swollen arms and legs with her finger.

“It’s uncomfortable. Let me help you.”

Yoon Si-ah took In-ho to the hospital, and he was diagnosed with fractures in his arms and legs.

While he walked to school with his crutches awkwardly wrapped in a green cast, Yoon Si-ah was next to him.
