Chapter Index

Why is Howlan Dyers so weak?

When I think about it, it’s strange. Looking back, it was quite a strange thing.

” That kid probably doesn’t know anything yet. If you look closely, you are also a really frustrating person. How long should it be just you and me?”

It was the traditional magic master of the Howlan family. Moreover, Grand Duke Howlan is one of the strongest wizards in existence.

Dyers would never have been weak if he had inherited even a little bit of his talent. He would not have been able to monopolize the position of first executive officer for that long.

So why was Howlan Dyers so weak?

To a wizard, the kidneys were no different from the heart. This is because the blood vessels containing mana flow there.

Giving up a kidney meant accepting a huge penalty as a wizard.

“Howlan, no, just commoner Dyers. I hate you asshole. Whether it was when I was a classmate or now, the thoughts are the same. Do you know how annoying that arrogant sound of yours was? How about looking down on everyone else? Anyway, this bastard is amazingly good at messing with people’s pride… such a bad bastard.”

Second Executor Kirshen, who was whispering with a cold face, grabbed the back of my neck.

I turned my head and looked at her.

Kirshen lowered his head. He bowed so close that I couldn’t see his expression.

She continued speaking in a tearful tone.

It was as if he was holding back something.

“Do you know how much it sucks for a guy like that.. to be a good guy who used to fly around in battles.. to lose one of his kidneys and not be able to use basic magic properly..? I don’t know how fucking my mood was.

    “…Kirshen.”

“Fuck.. If you did something so crazy, it would be better to not be betrayed. You can live a good life while making a fuss. I was told bullshit by others that I was weak to begin with, I was ignored by some asshole who was talking about a contest or something just because I revealed all my true skills, and I was even stabbed in the back by a blond brat who was cheating on me?!”

Her hands roughly wrapped my head. I couldn’t see Kirshen’s expression because my bangs were pressed down.

“It was not for you that I supported the 13th floor challenge. It’s for the missing student council president Vivian. Aside from that… I came here today to say just this.”

Kirshen held his breath as if he had made up his mind and then let it out.

She hugged me tightly. Very strong, as if he would never let go.

Kirshen’s face was buried in my shoulder.

“Thank you for your hard work. You worked harder than anyone else with your body at that level. It must have been very difficult for you because you are missing one kidney, but you worked harder than anyone else.”

    “……”

“I’m sorry. Even when you were kicked out of the Howlan family and the student council because of that brat, you didn’t do anything. Actually, I gave up because I thought you had changed. Ever since Chairman Vivian went missing… I thought you were broken. I thought I had forgotten my motivation and President Vivian’s teachings.”

    “…….”

    “But it wasn’t.”

    “…Okay.”

“Thank you. Thank you so much. Because you remain the same without change. For making me realize that my judgment was wrong. I gave up on you, but you didn’t give up on Chairman Vivian. As expected, you are… the same Dyers I knew. Yes, I’m sure.”

I couldn’t say anything as she continued to speak while holding back her crying voice.

Even though everyone’s attention was focused, Kirshen hugged me for a long time and did not let me go.

    .

Despite the incredible sight that had passed, Pur and Jenna were quiet.

“Even looking at things like that, Jenna is surprisingly quiet?”

“A. I know because I have a sense of humor too. That’s a hug of friendship. There can be friends between men and women… well, right? A hug of deep love is not a joke, just touching and coveting each other. But when I looked around, I saw that the senior had made the girl cry again.”

In fact, it’s just a good ‘pretend’. It’s a hug of friendship and a hug of deep love. Why is it taking so long? Why is the senior not pushing it away and accepting it? I almost pulled out my great sword and rushed at him.

“Yeah, right?! I didn’t feel any ‘affection’ while watching it either! Even if you two are still friends, it doesn’t really matter..!”

In reality, it’s just a pretense of being cool. Can’t you feel any affection at all? How is that any different from the embrace of a couple who reunited after not seeing each other for a long time? There’s nothing that doesn’t matter!! Isn’t it against the school rules to hug that much?

Pur was resentful of the Academy’s lenient dating regulations. It must have been against the school rules for him to sometimes sleep with Dyers, but to react this way with just a hug was truly shameless.

“Actually, wasn’t Dyers a bad guy except for us? They only give room and don’t allow anything more than that..”

“…No way. There are strangely many female acquaintances around you, but… you’re not that type of person, right?”

“I like it better when Dyers is only nice to us.”

“Well, that’s it.. I’m like that too..”

They looked at Kirshen and Dyers in awe.

The public opinion war under the guise of an interview with a Latina continued even after Kirshen’s declaration of support.

On the one hand, they attracted people’s attention with their spirit of challenge, the results of their research so far, and their support.

The other side refuted with a straight argument, citing data on failures so far and victims. The logic was how could Dyers break the 13th floor, which even Archduke Howlan could not break.

Title: Isn’t that what the Latina enforcer said?

    -No, it’s true that I also enjoyed what Dyers said, but it’s only theoretical, and no one knows whether it can actually be solved in the end;;

What if everyone dies like this again?

ㄴ If you think rationally, what you are saying is correct, that is the king.

ㄴ You guys really have no romance. Are you giving up without even trying?

Is it worth risking your life for that romance? I really don’t know.

ㄴAre you saying that all the people who sacrificed their lives to reach the 13th floor so far have died meaninglessly?

ㄴ If you just look at the results, it’s like that haha. So you beat the 13th floor? Why are you trespassing in a designated off-limits area when even your own father can’t wake up?

ㄴI’m just going to support Dyers… It’s just hilarious that there are people who are willing to take on the challenge of this boring academy life.

Yes, haha I also support Dyers. Why not just escape? In fact, Dyers is a veteran who has escaped several times.

ㄴThat’s because I got lucky. Haha. Now I’m running out of luck. Even if I die soon, I’ll support the student council.

ㄴ Are you in the student council?

Despite showing a lot so far, public opinion was increasingly leaning towards the student council. Are Latinas using manpower to manipulate public opinion?

    “That’s it.”

The Latina who went up to the podium finished her speech and came down. The crowd’s cheers were heard.

She always insisted on the right path. The speech I just gave was also full of correct opinions.

    “Stop giving up now.”

“You’ve grown a lot. Those people must have been taken in by your speech.”

    Latina said with a grin.

“Thank you for the compliment. of course. Because I’m not the kid I was back then.”

    “Is that so?”

Finally, it was the last hour of the interview. I got up and walked little by little to the podium.

The stage was quite high. Like a towering tower.

Every time I walk more and more.

Every time I think of Latina, it starts to become clearer.

A memory from the past came back to me, just a little bit.

It was strange. It felt like I was dreaming with my eyes open.

A small girl knelt in front of her past self and bowed her head.

The relationship appeared to be that of a gunner and second-in-command.

    ‘Senior Dyers. Please..!’

‘Can not be done. Let’s support a village damaged by a monster? ‘What kind of absurd plan is this when even the student council budget needs to be reduced right now?’

The little girl begged, holding onto the rough man’s knees and clinging to him.

‘Please… in that village, no one. It means that no one will help… If things continue like this, everyone, including adults and children, will starve to death!!’

The man who had firmly refused wrinkled his face and sighed. Then he raised the little girl up and asked briefly.

‘Let me ask you one thing. Why do you do that even though you know you will get scolded by me? Is a complete stranger really that important? Enough to refuse orders from your superiors? ‘Why on earth would you want to save them?’

    ‘…..that.’

‘I’ll give you a chance to talk. ‘Tell me right now.’

The man pushed the little girl hard. Before I knew it, tears formed in the girl’s eyes.

‘I don’t know, I don’t know. It’s just that people are hurt and in pain… and that they will soon starve to death… just…’

    ‘just?’

‘I just… wanted to save you. I wanted to save these people… that’s what I thought.’

    ‘…It’s ridiculous.’

That day was the first time Dyers lost to a Latina.

However, there was no place to withdraw the missing budget. A considerable amount of money would have been incurred just for various relief supplies, procurement costs, and labor costs.

No one at the academy knew that the amount was paid entirely with Dyers’ personal funds.

I thought that even for the Latina that was requested, Dyers used her skills and took the budget from somewhere else.

“I see. I lost that day.”

I stared at the Latina briefly.

I climbed all the stairs and stood on the platform.

The public responds to intense stimulation rather than boring debate. Stimuli are remembered much longer.

“This time it’s my turn to win.”

I took off my uniform top.
