Chapter Index

After following the forest path that Mr. Allen had made for us for a while, we were able to meet Mr. Shumain, whom we were looking for.

She was putting her hands in the empty air, looking back and forth between the floor and the sky.

    “Shumain.”

At Jin’s call, Mr. Shumain turned around.

There was an inexplicable sense of oppression in the sight of him silently staring at Jin.

Maybe it was just because I was tall, but Lane seemed to feel the same way and took a step back.

    “Why?”

Mr. Shumain, who had been looking at Jin for a long time, finally opened his mouth.

Jin smiled slightly and approached Ms. Shumain, as if this wasn’t the first or second time she had reacted like that.

As Jin got closer, Mr. Shumain’s tall stature became more apparent.

Jindo was by no means short, but when he stood next to Mr. Shumain, he looked much smaller.

“Is there anything you like or want to have?”

At Jin’s direct question, Mr. Shumain touched his chin as if lost in thought.

Mr. Shumain, who is a quiet person, showed his usual appearance even in front of his friend Jin.

    “Um…what I need…”

Mr. Schumaine muttered softly and looked around.

Then, his gaze stopped on me and Rain, who were standing a little bit away.

No, to be exact, towards the chick bag tied to Rain’s back.

Mr. Shumain, who had been looking at Rain’s chick bag for a long time, nodded and said.

    “I wish I had a bag.”

    “Bag?”

Jin tilted his head at Mr. Shumain’s words and asked back.

“A real bag? Just a regular bag? ”

    “No. Not the ordinary one.”

A question mark appeared above Jin’s head at Mr. Shumain’s words.

He didn’t know that Mr. Schumaine was looking at Lane’s bag.

Mr. Shumain blushed and shut his mouth at the sight of Jin.

It seemed a little embarrassing for a grown man to say that he wanted something cute like a chick bag.

As soon as I figured that out, I grabbed Lane’s hand and started running down the forest path.

“Oh, Jeff? Why are you running all of a sudden?”

“Shh! I found out what Mr. Shumain wants. If we know, but Jin doesn’t, we can carry out the bribery operation we originally planned. ”

“You mean the bag? What does that have to do with running?”

After running along the forest path for a while, I confirmed that Jin was not following me and spoke to Rain.

“It seems like Mr. Shumain wants a cute bag.”

    “Cute bag?”

“Yeah. Something like Rain’s chick bag.”

At my words, Rain untied the chick bag he was carrying on his back and checked his appearance.

The chick with the bulging belly had a grumpy expression on its face, but it was quite cute.

Rain said, flapping the chick’s wings.

“You really want something like this?”

“Yeah. You were watching us earlier, right? You were looking at Rain’s bag. ”

    “Really?”

    “Yeah.”

“But that doesn’t mean I can give my bag away. I don’t want to give my used stuff to someone as a gift.”

    I nodded to Rain’s words.

I also had no intention of receiving a chick bag covered in Rain’s spit as a gift.

If so, you need a new bag.

    A cute and clean bag.

    “Jeff! Lane!”

The moment we thought that, Jin appeared across the forest path, calling us.

He had been running from afar, and the moment he spotted us, he started to speed up.

As soon as I discovered it, I grabbed Lane’s hand and started running at full speed.

I run along the forest path diligently, spewing out white breath.

It was quite a fun game to run while imagining Jin chasing from behind as a fearsome wolf.

    “Why are you running~?”

Jin suddenly asked us, who were running away, as if curious, but Rain and I did not answer.

After running for a while to avoid the truth and exiting the forest path, I was able to find an elevator standing alone in a wide open space.

Rain and I ran straight to the elevator and pressed the button.

I stamp my feet, look at the forest path once, and then at the door.

The numbers displayed on the elevator were quickly rising and approaching the top floor, that is, here.

    “Hey guys!”

Jin’s voice came right up to my nose.

Jin, who had come out of the forest path, was running towards us with a faint smile.

At that moment, the elevator arrived with a ding.

Jin also seemed to have heard that sound and increased his speed.

“Did you go first and grab the elevator?”

Jin said he wanted to ride the elevator with me, but I didn’t want to ride it with him.

Since there was still quite a distance, Rain and I went inside first and waved to Jin.

He furrowed his eyebrows, as if he had an ominous premonition.

But there was nothing he could do here and now.

I immediately reached out and started pressing the elevator’s close button.

The wide open door begins to close slowly.

Through that dim gap, Jin was running hard with a startled expression on his face, but he couldn’t board here.

    “No!”

Just before Jin’s hand reached the door, the door closed with a narrow margin, hiding Jin’s figure.

I slowly took a deep breath and touched my cheek.

It turned out to be a pretty fun game of tag.

After taking the elevator all the way down, Rain and I ran to our room.

“Jeff, are you going to give me your bag?”

Rain opened the door and looked at me as I was about to enter the room and asked.

I nodded to her and answered.

“Yeah. I have one left from before. I haven’t even opened the packaging yet. It’ll be fine as a gift.”

I answered Lane and entered the room.

I didn’t forget to take off my shoes before entering.

In the past, I was too lazy to take my shoes off, so I just went in and got scolded by Amy, so I’m always careful.

I headed straight to the drawer where I kept my things.

The drawer was cluttered with all sorts of odds and ends, so I had to clear out the top layers to find my bag.

He rummages through the drawers so intently that he throws out everything inside.

Dinosaur models and small dolls fly around and fall to the ground.

    “Oops.”

After digging all the way to the bottom of the drawer, I finally found what I was looking for.

It was a raccoon bag wrapped in pretty packaging.

At this level, I could give it to Mr. Shumain as a gift.

I immediately took out my bag and held it in my arms.

A large raccoon enters the arms, its long tail trailing downwards.

If a short person like Rain and me were to carry this bag, the long tail would look like it was actually hanging off the butt.

    “Rain, how about this?”

I waved the raccoon bag at Lane and asked her opinion.

    Isn’t it quite cute?

    “Raccoon bag?”

    “Yeah.”

    “Good idea!”

Rain and I nodded to each other and ran straight out of the room and to the elevator.

    ***

Allen’s Forest, where only Rain and I arrived, excluding Jin.

I walked towards the forest like Jin had done, and knocked on a large tree.

    “Hello, Mr. Tree.”

The tree began to squirm its large body at my greeting.

It felt like it was greeting me, so I waved back.

“I want to go to Mr. Shumain.”

The big tree shook its branches as if it understood my request.

As the branches swayed, the forest began to shake.

The enchanting trees dance and open the way.

The forest path that was created at once will lead to Mr. Shumain.

I bowed my head to the tree to express my gratitude, then grabbed Rain’s hand, who was standing behind me, and headed to the elevator.

“Jeff? The path in the forest is open, where are you going?”

    “To prevent Jin from coming.”

I answered Rain’s question and started rummaging through Rain’s bag.

Her chick bag was full of all sorts of odds and ends.

I took a roll of scotch tape out of her bag and held it in my hand.

    “Tape?”

Rain tilted his head as he looked at the tape I took out.

Instead of answering, I showed Lane how to use the tape through actions.

Squeak-squeak- The tape stretches out, blocking the elevator entrance.

If it’s a sticky, strong tape, it could definitely buy some time to keep Jin from getting here.

Tape the gaps between the elevator doors carefully.

    “Completed!”

After using up an entire roll of tape, I took a step back with a satisfied smile and admired my work.

The elevator, wrapped tightly in tape, gave the impression that it would never open.

I returned the blank tape to Lane’s bag, grabbed her hand as she stood there with her mouth open in a daze, and ran toward the forest path.

As I had just come, I ran along the forest path for a while and then I could see the back of Mr. Shumain.

She held her hands out in the air with her eyes closed, as if trying to use her powers.

I stopped in my tracks and began to watch the scene.

Although I had encountered Ms. Shumain a few times while on missions, this was only the second time I had seen her use her powers in person.

As I began to watch Mr. Shumain with anticipation, her hands grabbed the air.

    It was literally grabbed.

There is nothing that should not be caught, but something that should be caught is caught.

Mr. Schumaine grabbed hold of it and tore it apart in an instant.

    Kwajik-

I couldn’t hear any sound, but it felt like I heard something.

Something transparent and heterogeneous is torn away, creating a hole in the air.

It was a hole that felt completely different from the passages created by those with warp abilities.

After that, Mr. Shumain’s closed eyes slowly opened.

She stared into the hole she had created for a long time, then put her hand inside.

The arm that went into the hole disappears.

As I was blinking at the unrealistic sight, I heard Mr. Shumain’s voice.

    “Why did you come?”

As she spoke as if she knew we were coming, I slowly walked toward her, holding Rain’s hand tightly.

“Excuse me. I brought you a gift.”

I didn’t want to disturb her while she was working, but I wanted to go out more.

I took out the raccoon bag I was holding and showed it to Mr. Shumain.

As I shook the plump raccoon bag cutely, the thick, long tail inside the packaging slowly wagged.

I noticed that Ms. Shumain’s eyes were shaking greatly, so I took a step closer to her and placed the raccoon bag in one of her hands.

Fortunately, she seemed to like the gift, so she took the raccoon bag and hugged it to her chest.

    “Thank you.”

Although she was tall, there was no doubt that she was a little girl at heart.

Now it was time to get to the point.

If Mr. Shumain looks happy, he could easily grant our simple request.

    “Excuse me. Mr. Shumain.”

    “Why is that?”

“We have some business to attend to outside. Can you come out for a moment?”

Mr. Shumain’s gaze shifted between me and Rain.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but wouldn’t it be possible to go out with Rain, who has already been out and about many times?

    “Hmm…”

Mr. Schumaine looked troubled at my request, but then nodded.

    Permission has been granted.

I was delighted at her appearance and hugged Rain next to me.

    “Yahoo!”

I was finally able to go outside.

Mr. Schumaine said, looking at Rain.

“Are you going to the place you always go?”

I don’t know where Rain always went, but I nodded and answered for him.

    “Yes!”

    “Oh, wait, wait. No! ”

Rain waved his hands in confusion, but Mr. Shumain moved faster.

She took her hand out of the hole, placed it on the edge of the hole, and pulled it down.

It was just a small hole, but it tore open wide at her gesture, revealing the situation on the other side.

Beyond the torn space, a neat, bustling downtown area, different from the forest path, was spread out.

Mr. Schumaine looked at us standing there blankly, then gestured for us to come inside.

“Is this a place Rain often goes to?”

    “Yeah.”

Mr. Schumaine nodded to my question.

I looked at her like that and asked.

“What should I do when I get back?”

“Call me. I’ll open the door again in the same place you came from.”

If it’s Mr. Schumaine’s contact information, Lane should have it.

I nodded and approached the torn space with Rain.

“Hey. Jeff. Are we really going out?”

“Why are you asking now? Rain liked you too.”

When it came to going out alone with me, Rain started to hesitate as if he was afraid.

Fear is something that must be overcome, and only then can you move forward and become a better person.

I remembered what I had learned in school, hugged Rain’s body, and flew across the space.
