Chapter Index

Brain and connection strengthening training has begun.

Contrary to the grandiose training name, it was a very simple training that could be done with brainwashing as much as possible in everyday life.

Whether I was eating, showering, or sleeping, I always lived with little Amy on my head.

“Are you with me today too?”

To Rain’s question, little Amy answered.

A small spark shot up above his head, making his white hair stand on end.

    “Yeah. Let’s be together today.”

Little Amy poked her head out of my hair and looked around.

Perhaps he was checking to see if there was any Shine nearby.

Whenever she doesn’t have Shine, she always changes her clothes.

Sparks flew, and the clothes Little Amy was wearing changed.

She, dressed in a relatively light blue gown, jumped from my head and landed on my shoulder.

Little Amy greeted Lane by placing her hand on her belly button and bowing her head, just as Shine and I had taught her.

Rain blushed at the sight of the little girl and rubbed her cheek, not knowing what to do.

    “Rain. Training?”

    “I’m already done.”

I checked the time at Rain’s answer.

It was earlier than usual, and it seemed a little early to think that training was over.

I gave him a suspicious look, but Lane didn’t seem to notice and started talking to little Amy who was standing on my shoulder.

Rather than a conversation, it was just Rain talking unilaterally.

    “Ah. Right. Jeff.”

    “Huh?”

“You know what? I think I have to go on a support mission this evening?”

    “Support mission?”

I answered Rain’s question and checked my phone.

Sure enough, as she said, there was a message from Jin on her phone.

He seemed so focused on little Amy that he didn’t even notice the text message that had arrived.

Little Amy jumped up on the screen as soon as I took out my phone.

As her small feet touch the screen, messages flash by and an Internet window pops up.

    “Oh my! Baby!”

I scolded little Amy in a stern voice for her behavior and threw her body and cell phone away.

Little Amy writhed in agony as if to be let go, but my hands would not let go of her little body.

“The baby is still young, so you shouldn’t use things like this.”

Although she was gently coaxed, little Amy was stubborn.

She wanted to use my phone.

Is it because I got angry?

Little Amy scattered small sparks in all directions, then disappeared again.

At that deflated look, I let out a small sigh.

“Being a good mother is hard work.”

After finishing training, I joined up with Shine and the three of us headed to the office.

Victor and Amy seemed to still be at the training grounds, as the inside of the office was empty.

    “Where did the baby go?”

“I think you’re feeling bad. I think you’ve gone back.”

Shine nodded with a strange smile at my words.

Whenever she smiled like that, little Amy had to go into the toy house with Shine that night.

I couldn’t tell what she was doing inside, but little Amy, who came out of the toy house, became the good girl I wanted her to be.

As expected, it seemed like only Shine could do a good job of playing the role of a father.

“Are you having an interview today too?”

“I think I should do that, but I think it’ll be hard because of the mission.”

I nodded to Shine’s words, returned to my seat, and began to gather various tools.

Weapons to use on missions and sunglasses to block your vision.

While I was wondering what shape of sunglasses to choose this time, Victor and Amy entered the office.

Amy looked at us getting ready and said with a small smile.

“Are all three of you getting ready now?”

    “Yes!”

    “Yeah!”

I jumped up and answered Amy’s question.

The commemorative coins and iron bars that filled my pockets jingled reassuringly.

As long as I had enough of these, I wouldn’t have to fear any enemy.

“There’s nothing wrong with being thoroughly prepared.”

I had high expectations and was prepared, but nothing special happened until the evening.

The day passed by so normally that I didn’t think it was a day with a mission.

Amy carefully checked my, Shine’s, and Rain’s preparations.

Judging from the fact that he didn’t stop me from going on a mission, it didn’t seem to be a particularly dangerous task.

Due to the nature of the mission that required me to go out late at night, I was unable to watch today’s broadcast of [The Little Witch’s Great Adventure].

Leaving my regrets behind, I approached Amy and asked her.

    “What is your mission today!”

“Today is a simple support mission.”

    “Support mission?”

“Yeah. All I have to do is go out there and detonate an EMP over the entire city. ”

    “EMP!”

It seemed like it was time to use Jeff Spirize.

I stamped my feet and ran around her like crazy at Amy’s words.

As I spent my time in such anticipation, the time for the mission approached.

After completing our preparations, our team immediately followed Jin’s orders and used warp to move to the mission location.

My body started to sway from the dizziness that was characteristic of warp, but Amy held my hand so I didn’t fall.

The area around where I moved was very dark, but when I looked beyond the darkness, underneath it, it was filled with splendid light.

    “I’ve arrived.”

[Wait until the signal is given.]

The smell of earth and grass. And even the sounds of unknown insects.

The lukewarm wind was very humid.

    And it was unpleasant.

    “Is this a mountain?”

    “Yeah. That’s right.”

Amy answered as she stuck a glow stick into the floor, emitting a soft light.

I could see my surroundings in the soft light.

As she said, this was a mountain.

A mountain with a panoramic view of the vast city.

There was a line of trees ahead of us, so we had no trouble seeing the city view.

It was my first time coming to the mountains.

It felt different from the forest of Allen, so I looked around with my mouth open.

If it weren’t for the mission, I would have wandered around here and there, but now was the time to suppress my curiosity.

Victor and Amy sat on a large rock nearby and waited for the signal.

I was expecting some kind of thrilling mission, but it was a very disappointing experience.

I approached Amy with a sullen expression.

    “Amy.”

    “Why?”

    “Is it over just waiting?”

“Yeah. That’s the end of our mission.”

I said to Amy, thinking of the show [The Little Witch’s Big Adventure] that’s currently airing.

“If it’s such a simple mission, don’t we really need to do it?”

“This kid used to sing a song saying he wanted to go on a mission…”

Amy smiled slightly at my words, hugged me, and placed me on her lap.

“Jeff, you know? This mission is one that only we can do.”

    “Why?”

Amy patted my head in response to my question.

Swish swish – A large hand strokes the head here and there.

“You and Victor are the only people with lightning abilities who can use EMP.”

    “Huh?”

I was surprised by Amy’s words and asked back.

It was because I couldn’t believe that only Victor and I could use such a simple ability.

    “Really? It’s that simple?”

    “Didn’t Victor tell you?”

At Amy’s question, I turned my gaze to Victor, who was sitting comfortably.

He noticed my gaze and turned his head away without saying a word.

    “You didn’t tell me anything?”

“Jeff. What may be easy for you may be difficult for others.”

    “Oops…”

    I nodded to Amy’s words.

But if an EMP was needed, couldn’t it have been possible to prepare a separate bomb and detonate it, even if you weren’t an electric power user?

“These days, regular EMP bombs won’t work, especially in higher areas. That’s why we need them.”

Amy seemed to notice my question and answered it coolly.

I was left speechless as Amy answered my question as if she knew what I was wondering, even though I hadn’t asked.

    Oh, how did you know?

    Amy knew me so well.

[Have you been waiting long? Everyone get ready.]

While I was spending time blankly in Amy’s arms, I heard Jin’s voice through the receiver.

As soon as I heard that sound, I jumped out of Amy’s arms and ran forward.

    Victor was already waiting there.

[Victor, are you listening to Jeff? Don’t use your powers until I signal.]

    “I’m listening.”

    “Yes!”

I didn’t stop looking at the city even as I answered Jin’s words.

But I was so far away that all I could see were the city lights.

Even in the middle of the night, the city lights, bright as day, looked like delicious candy to me.

    [preparation!]

    What were you waiting for?

Jin’s calm voice came through the receiver.

Victor and I each took a stance.

Blue lightning shot up from all over his body, along with his arms spread wide.

    Phagecic-!

    The distance was not measured.

If someone asked me if I could detonate an EMP over this entire city, I could answer confidently.

    I can do it.

    [Blast it!]

    match!

As I was waiting, I reacted immediately.

A blue afterimage spread out along with a cracking sound from the hands that had clashed together with all their might.

A little faster than Victor’s, my lightning went down the mountain and reached the city.

The waves that flowed silently covered the entire city.

The city that was shining beautifully like candy is suddenly plunged into darkness.

From the mountain, the lights kept going out. But the moment the city was completely engulfed in darkness, the lights that had disappeared began to return.

    “Ouch!”

I panicked and prepared to clap my hands again, but Victor’s lightning wave arrived late and engulfed the city once again.

The lights that were flickering like embers all disappear.

A city that has lost its light can no longer function.

[Perfect! I’ll prepare the warp for you so you can return right away!]

I listened to Jin’s communication and blankly looked at the city that had lost its light.

The city that was deprived of light tried to regain it in its own way.

Boom! The sound of an explosion can be heard from far away, and orange lights shoot up everywhere.

The lights, which were clearly different from artificial lighting, bloomed all over the city.

    “Jeff!”

I turned around, startled by Amy’s voice.

It was Jin who welcomed us back to headquarters.

He stood far away with a big smile on his face and applauded me and Victor.

I tilted my head as I watched him, who seemed genuinely happy, but somehow had no intention of coming closer.

This mission was really so futile.

If you include the time it took to get to the mission location and wait, it must have been about 30 minutes?

Normally, I wouldn’t have wondered what would happen after the mission, but I became curious about the situation in the city where we caused the blackout.

    “Why. What don’t you like?”

Amy patted my head as I pout and asked,

I was about to ask her about the situation in the city, but I shook my head.
