Chapter Index

The soldier looked at me in shock, unable to speak.

“What are you staring at? Move quickly!”

    “Yes!”

At the sound of my voice, the soldier jumped up in surprise and ran off into the distance.

Turning my head, I saw my three friends each attacking a wild boar.

    Thud! Thud!

Laurent seemed to be struggling a bit with killing the boar while holding his rapier.

    “Stab it in the head!”

At my shout, Laurent nodded and gripped his rapier in reverse.

    Crack!

He swiftly stabbed the boar’s skull, shattering it.

    Thud!

As the boar fell, dust rose.

    “We got it!”

    Laurent raised his sword triumphantly.

    “Oh… Aramis!”

    “Got it!”

Rotose and Aramis, each responsible for one boar, joined forces to bring down their targets.

    “Yah!”

    Boom!

Rotose struck the boar’s head with a powerful blow, causing it to explode.

    “Hehe… Rotose, you’re still alive!”

Rotose stomped on the boar’s brain, shouting triumphantly.

    “And~ Fireball!”

    Boom!

At the sound resembling an exploding powder keg, everyone turned their heads.

    “Kwaaaah!”

The boar hit by the magic screamed before freezing in place.

The mage who had been focusing on attacking one boar from the watchtower had gathered enough power to defeat the last boar.

As I looked at the mage on the watchtower, she removed her hood and confidently thrust her chest forward, expressing her confidence.

    “Hurrah!”

Suddenly, the soldiers raised their weapons and shouted “Hurrah” as if a war had been won.

Seeing them, Rotose approached the boar he had killed, laughing.

“You really smashed it to pieces.”

He nudged the boar’s decapitated body with his foot.

“But isn’t this a bit strange?”

Laurent raised an eyebrow as he looked at the dead boars.

“What do you mean? Boars charging at people isn’t uncommon, right?”

“Even if they’re boars, they usually avoid places with a lot of people.”

“You worry about everything. Maybe they thought we were just ants with their bodies being that big.”

Rotose laughed and playfully slapped Laurent on the back.

    “Hmm… wait a moment.”

Laurent drew his dagger and began rummaging through the boar’s brain.

    “Ugh…!”

One of the soldiers watching gagged at the sight.

    “Ugh…!”

Laurent plunged his arm deep into the boar’s brain, searching for something.

“Laurent, what are you looking for?”

“If this monster is being controlled by someone, there should be something in its head.”

After a while of squirming in the brain matter, Laurent found something and pulled his arm out.

    Squelch!

With a strange sound, Laurent’s arm was pulled out.

“I thought this was only found in ancient texts…”

Frowning, Laurent looked at the black stone-like object in his hand.

    “What is this?”

“It’s mentioned in ancient texts that monsters controlled by someone have a stone in their heads.”

    “Controlled by someone?”

    “It’s a thousand-year-old record, so I’m not sure, but that’s how it’s written.”

“Then who could be controlling this?”

    “Probably someone.”

    Laurent nodded gravely.

    “Controlling monsters?”

At the mention of controlling monsters, Rotose grinned mischievously and closed his eyes.

    “What are you thinking?”

“I’m thinking of riding a dragon and shooting fireballs at Count Lashufor’s butt.”

    “That sounds entertaining.”

    Everyone chuckled at his words.

    “Hey! Hey!”

Far away, a wizard with red hair ran towards us, waving his hands.

“Can you show me that stone in your hand?”

After hesitating for a moment, Laurent handed her the stone.

“I thought it was a monster because it had a snake tail like a wild boar… Turns out it really was one…”

She infused the stone in her hand with magic.

    “What are you doing?”

“I’m trying to find the incompetent person who controlled this monster.”

    “Is that possible?”

“Other incompetent wizards couldn’t do it, but if someone like me can, then it’s possible.”

After confidently speaking, she closed her eyes and muttered a spell.

A red energy emanated from the black stone, starting to focus in one direction.

“I’ve found the direction of the one controlling the monster!”

    “Whistle!”

As I whistled, the horse ran towards me.

“Hey! Take me with you too!”

As I mounted the horse, she shouted at me.

    “Capture him.”

I reached out my hand and lifted her in front of me.

“Um… Your hair is really soft.”

Perhaps due to the height difference, her nape touched my chest.

I felt an urge to grab her forehead, but I restrained myself.

    #

    “Left!”

Following the wizard’s instructions, we tracked the wizard controlling the wild boars.

“Left…! No, right! If you turn right, you’ll see him!”

    Hee-haw!

As I pulled the reins strongly, the horse raised its front legs.

    “Hiyah!”

The horse quickly turned to the right and started running.

    Closer and closer

It had been almost 10 minutes since we started riding.

“Aren’t we there yet? The horse is getting tired!”

    “Ugh… Just a little more!”

Unable to find the wizard controlling the wild boars, she got frustrated and flailed her arms.

    “There he is!”

The wizard in a black robe that Laurent pointed at glanced back and started running again.

    “Bend down a bit.”

    “Huh?”

I pressed the wizard’s head down and pulled out a gun from the saddle.

    “Ah! What are you doing!”

She struggled and tried to dodge, but my strength kept her in place.

“Ugh! This position is really uncomfortable!”

Despite her efforts, she couldn’t escape my grip, looking very flustered.

    “Stay still.”

I aimed the gun at the wizard, who was fleeing with my arm around her waist.

    “Ow! My waist!”

She cried out in pain as my elbow hit her.

    Bang!

    “Ow!”

The fleeing wizard was shot in the leg and fell to the ground.

    “Whoa~!”

We approached the fallen wizard on horseback.

    “Ugh…!”

He gathered magic in his hands as he got up.

    “Where…!”

I quickly drew my sword and held it to his neck.

Seeing the blade against his neck, the wizard glared at me.

    “You’re a pathetic wizard.”

Behind me, Rotos attached unnecessary shackles to him.

“Since we don’t intend to kill you, it’s best to answer our questions obediently.”

    “Hehehe…!”

    He suddenly started laughing maniacally.

    “Why are you laughing?”

“Do you think you can follow in his footsteps?”

    “Who? Duke Orleang?”

    “Your thoughts are your own.”

He smirked and shook his head.

“I have nothing to say to you.”

“Well, we’ll have to take you with us to find out.”

I gestured to Rotos, who grinned and shoved his thumb into the wizard’s mouth.

    “Eek! What are you doing!”

    “Well… Does it sting?!”

    Crack!

Rotos preemptively shattered his jawbone in case he tried to commit suicide.

    “Ughhh…!”

Screaming in agony from the broken jawbone, he cried tears and screamed before passing out.

“Ugh… Do I really have to go this far?”

The wizard furrowed his brow at the gruesome sight.

“Sometimes you have to take care of things in advance to avoid trouble!”

I calmly climbed on top of the horse.

“Alright, we’ve caught the culprit. Let’s hurry back!”

I captured the unconscious wizard and headed back to the camp.

On the way back, I noticed a flock of doves flying in the sky.

“With all that mess, there’s no way I won’t send a letter.”

Aramis clicked his tongue and watched the flying doves.

“Hmph! Controlling those doves is child’s play for amateurs like them.”

Upon hearing Aramis’ words, the wizard sitting in front of me raised his nose.

    Thud!

    “Ouch!”

I smacked the wizard’s forehead as he subtly leaned his head on my chest.

    “We’ve arrived!”

    “Wow!!!”

As soon as we arrived at the camp, the soldiers rushed towards us.

    “Hurrah!!! Hurrah!!!”

They cheered as they saw us.

    “Hmph!”

The wizard snorted and exhaled through his nose.

“Make way! The king is passing by!”

At the guard’s shout, the soldiers quickly stepped aside.

We quickly dismounted from the horse and bowed to King Angu XIV.

“We’ve captured the wizard who was controlling the monster boar.”

“I’ve already heard, you’ve done a great job.”

    “No, it was nothing.”

“What do you mean nothing? You captured the monsters and even caught the culprit.”

King Angu XIV approached me and patted my shoulder.

    “So, where is this person?”

    “He’s at my mercy.”

Rothos threw the wizard he had lifted onto the ground.

    “So… this guy, huh?”

King Angu XIV glared at the wizard with fiery eyes.

    “This despicable man!”

King Angu XIV suddenly started kicking the wizard.

    “Your Majesty! Your Majesty!”

The attendants were shocked and tried to stop him.

“Your Majesty! Your clothes are getting dirty!”

    “Quiet!”

King Angu XIV pushed the attendants away and continued to kick the wizard until he calmed down.

“Phew… alright, take this scum to the Bastille prison immediately!”

    “Yes, Your Majesty!”

The guards followed King Angu XIV’s orders and dragged the wizard away.
