Chapter Index

At Garnold’s words, the children, including Desley, began to panic.

They had just been thinking that if Garnold had just taken their side, they could have gotten away with it.

Although there was a difficult story about the princess and such, they still did not realize the seriousness of beating children to death.

    It was just a prank.

That it was nothing more than a permitted game to relieve their mood.

    That’s what I was thinking.

They had no idea what the price would be if it were revealed, and so they began to feel a deep sense of betrayal at Garnold’s actions that had betrayed their expectations at this point.

    “Wow.. Director? What.. Are you..”

“This… This is just a joke… right? It’s something we always do between ourselves…”

“Shut up! How can you say something like that in a place like this, after making people like this?”

Children who ask for sympathy from others in any way possible.

However, without giving any value to their situation, Garnold began to pour out his words without hesitation.

“They are the most foolish and rough kids in our orphanage. No matter how hard I tried to correct them, they were the ones I failed in the end. I was always watching them because I didn’t know when they would cause trouble, but they ended up doing this. We need to teach these hopeless pieces of trash the harshness of the law. Please punish them without mercy.”

Garnold speaks to Elios while nodding his head repeatedly.

There was not even a hint of hesitation or trembling in her voice.

She didn’t care if her words caused the death of children.

Just like selling off the children she had previously considered unnecessary trash, her current actions were completely natural and were accepted as a given.

And, hearing those words from the director, Dezley and others began to scream in extreme betrayal.

“Hey! Director! What are you talking about!”

“Correction… Up until now, we’ve just been following your words…”

“Shut up! You evil guys! Where the hell are you talking nonsense from? Don’t try to blame me for your mistakes like that!”

Garnold spoke in a sharp voice to the children, causing them to cringe for a moment.

No matter how deeply they felt betrayed, they fundamentally lacked the courage to confront Garnold.

Even in extreme situations, attacking someone who has been bowing down until now is not an easy task.

“You guys are responsible for what you did wrong! Now, Elios, please hurry and punish those evildoers!”

Feeling a bit of urgency, Garnold began to urge Elios on.

If they were to act out their words here, something dangerous would happen.

She was hoping that the sentence would be carried out quickly, as there was a possibility that something that should not have been revealed would come out.

And. In response to her answer, Elios spoke in a quiet voice.

“Surely.. Those guys’ crimes must be punished for sure. They’ve come too far to leave room for sympathy.”

With those words, Elios slowly approached the Dezley gang with his sword in hand.

They fell into the abyss of utter despair as they saw the terrifyingly beautiful Goddess of Death approaching them.

The drop is even greater because of the faint hope I had just had.

As he was sinking into such gloomy despair, Desley’s eyes caught sight of the director stepping back, abandoning him.

The abbot, who is believed to have taken away their last chance to survive in order to flatter the higher-ups.

    “It’s because of you..right..”

As he thought about this, he began to open his mouth, overcome by the most intense anger he had ever felt since he was born.

    and..

“This was all your fault, Director! You liar! You used us like this and failed, so you’re going to abandon us to survive on your own?”

    “…”

    “ㅁ..what?”

Suddenly, Desley starts shouting and Garnold’s face turns pale at his explosive remark.

Seeing this, Elios’s steps stopped dead in their tracks, and immediately after, a cold and eerie smile began to appear on her lips.

    *

Garnold felt embarrassed by Desley’s unexpected counterattack, but tried to respond as calmly as possible.

“Ha..haha! You guy, stop talking nonsense! You’re really struggling to survive! You’re saying that I tried to harm the princess? I had no intention or reason to do that in the first place, so what’s the basis for such a ridiculous accusation..”

“There is! Of course there isn’t! You’re selling children into slavery! This girl found out and ordered us to kill her!”

    “! What… what… ”

Garnold’s face began to turn pale at the bombshell that came out of Desley’s mouth.

A situation where the truth she never wanted to reveal came out in the worst way.

It was at that moment that Garnold was about to urgently refute that fact.

    “That’s a story that I can’t just ignore.”

Elios opened his mouth with a voice that was still quiet, but sounded even more terrifying because of it.

“Eh.. Helios! Seriously.. You wouldn’t believe the tantrums of such a crazy brat, would you? You shouldn’t be fooled! They are all accusing me without any evidence… ”

At that moment, Elios reached out his hand and stopped Garnold, who was about to speak urgently.

Then she slowly approached the young princess who was examining Zero’s condition next to him, who had already collapsed.

    “Is that kid okay?”

“ㄴ..yes..he was hurt, but if you take him to the doctor….”

The young princess, still in shock from what just happened, sat next to her escort and answered in a voice filled with fear.

Seeing her like this, Elios slowly bent his knees and became eye level with her.

“That’s great. Then, my sister has a question for me. Could you please answer it?”

    “… .”

Elios speaks in a voice that seems a bit more considerate than usual.

At this, the young princess nodded silently.

“Is what that guy said true? Did something like that really happen at this orphanage?”

At Elios’ question, Garnold’s heart sank for a moment, but at the same time, he felt a little relieved.

The young princess was someone Garnold had never seen before, and there was no way such a child could know the truth.

Since only Dezley among the children knew about this fact, I thought that the story related to slaves would be new to the young princess.

    however..

“… .ㄴ… Yes.. That’s.. I heard that.. sick and weak children are sold into slavery..”

“Wait a minute! What are you talking about?”

“Boys get 20 silver coins.. Girls get 30 silver coins.. If you don’t have a limb, 3 is deducted.. The transaction takes place on the first Saturday of every month.. In a nearby abandoned house..”

The young princess took out something crumpled and handed it to Elios along with those words.

And the moment Garnold realized what it was…

    “!….Th..How about that.. Huh!”

As soon as he realized what it was, Garnold shouted reflexively without realizing it.

    and..

    “… This makes it clear.”

Princess Elios speaks calmly while examining the paper the young princess gave her.

Then, her blood-red eyes slowly turned to Garnold, who was trembling as he looked at her.

“If you commit a crime, you should be punished. Don’t you think so?”

    “Ah…ahhh… ”

As he watched Garnold collapse to the ground in fear, Elios spoke quietly and coldly.

A simple statement, but one that carries a truly terrifying meaning.

The moment it hit his ears, Garnold realized.

    Her life is…

The fact that her life of living in luxury by selling trash came to a complete end here.
