Chapter Index

The restaurant that Rain and Shine arrived at was relatively quiet.

It was a long time after lunch time, and it wasn’t dinner time yet, so it was natural that there were no people.

As I watched the people having a late lunch, I muttered quietly to Lane, who was standing next to me.

    “Rain… Where is the sugar?”

“Jeff. Where was the food served?”

    “Over there… .”

I pointed my finger at the questioning Lane and pointed to the place where the plates always came out.

“Then that means you’re cooking food in there.`

    “Yeah.”

“The sugar you need for cooking will be there too.”

    “Wow… .”

I was impressed by Lane’s logical explanation.

As expected, it seemed like the position of team leader wasn’t something that just anyone could do.

This plan seemed to proceed without any problems.

Rain walked ahead with a confident expression.

Shine and I exchanged glances and then followed behind Rain.

After following the lane for a while, I couldn’t help but stop because of the appetizing scent.

    Tonkatsu.

    It smelled like pork cutlet.

    “Jeff… ?”

When I suddenly stopped, Shine, who was holding onto my tail, also had no choice but to stop.

I looked in the direction of the tonkatsu while holding the dinosaur tail in my hand with strength.

A man holding a cell phone in his hand with a helpless face.

The warm pork cutlet in front of him was starting to cool down.

The way he occasionally tapped on his phone with a small smile, as if he had no interest in food, was an insult to Donkatsu.

    “Sleep… Jeff… !”

I walked briskly in the direction of the tonkatsu.

It was nice to walk to the place where the tonkatsu was, but I was intimidated by the person I was talking to, who was taller than I expected.

As I was hesitating under the table, Shine grabbed my arm and said.

“Jeff. Lane is too far away.”

I turned my head at her words.

As Shine said, he was quite far away from Rain.

Rain wandering around in front of the large door.

Looking at his softly mumbling lips, it seemed as if he was explaining the operation he had planned.

But Shine and I are here, and doesn’t she know that we’re not behind her?

I was flustered and raised my hand to call Rain, but Rain ran into the restaurant with his eyes tightly shut.

“Jeff, do you want to eat tonkatsu?”

    “Ugh… .”

I nodded and answered Shine’s question.

I felt embarrassed that I had shown myself coveting someone else’s pork cutlet when it wasn’t even time to eat yet.

“If that’s the case, then you shouldn’t have said anything.”

Shine said with a small smile on her face at my answer.

Immediately after, she approached the man sitting at the table and touched his leg.

    Knock knock-

    “Huh?”

The man, who had been focused on the screen of his phone, shifted his gaze to look at Shine and me.

A hint of surprise and bewilderment crossed his face.

Shine looked up at the man and spoke.

    “Jeff wants to eat that.”

Shine said, pointing to the pork cutlet in front of the man.

The man’s gaze passes over me, Shine, and the pork cutlet in front of him several times.

    “This…?”

    “Yeah.”

“Sorry, but this is my… .”

    “Jeff wants to eat it.”

Shine cut the man off and said.

    The man’s face twitches slightly.

    “Sha… . Shine… .”

I walked up behind Shine and grabbed her hand.

I came closer because I wanted to eat, but I didn’t have the hobby of stealing other people’s food.

And it’s something you can order separately.

This was a place where there was no need to fight with others over food.

    “Yes.”

But the man, who we expected to be angry, pushed the plate in front of him towards us.

I was left dumbfounded by his unexpected reaction.

    “Sit here Jeff.”

Shine pulled back the chair in front of him and pointed towards it.

I sat down on the chair as she said.

    I still can’t believe it.

I looked at the man’s face.

He was staring blankly into space.

He didn’t even smile like before while looking at his phone.

Why on earth did you give me that tonkatsu?

I started eating the slightly cooled pork cutlets one by one.

The crispy batter crumbled and fell onto the dinosaur pajamas.

    “Want some shine too?”

I held the tonkatsu in my hand and handed it over to Shine.

She hesitated for a moment, then opened her mouth and took the pork cutlet I handed her.

Her face, slurping with her mouth swollen, looked quite cute.

After eating all the pork cutlet with Shine, I returned the bowl with only rice and salad left to the man.

    “I ate well.”

I didn’t forget to say thank you.

But the man showed no reaction to what I said.

    Do you meditate before eating?

I got down from the chair and rubbed my stomach.

It was a very satisfying snack.

As I smiled in satisfaction, Shine picked up a tissue from the table and wiped my mouth.

    “Umm… .”

“Don’t walk around with it on your lips.”

I was speechless at Shine’s actions which were so natural.

Has it always been like this?

    “Now let’s go to Rain.”

Shine and I walked towards the kitchen door.

A little noise coming from inside.

I felt the presence of people.

I opened the kitchen door carefully.

The kitchen was very, very spacious.

And I was able to find Rain.

She was hiding in a corner with her white hat pulled over her head.

As Shine and I approached her, Rain clung to me with a tearful face.

    “Uh… Where did you go??”

At Rain’s unexpected reaction, I reached out and hugged her tightly.

“I just went to eat some pork cutlet.”

    “Donkas…?”

    “Yeah.”

“Okay… . Don’t leave me alone while the operation is in progress… .”

    “Operation… ?”

    Rain talking nonsense.

I smiled awkwardly and patted her head.

    “What’s this hat?”

I asked, stroking the white hat on Lane’s head.

She quickly regained her composure and began to explain about the white hat.

“This is the hat that the chefs wear here. If you wear this, you will look like a chef, so no one will think it’s strange if you take the ingredients needed to make candy.”

    Indeed, it made sense.

Rain took out his hat from his pocket and handed it to me and Shine, as if he had packed our hats too.

Shine and I took off our dinosaur hoods and put our chef hats on our heads.

    “Where’s the sugar?”

    “Over there.”

Lane came out of the corner, speaking confidently.

    Shine and I followed her.

As Rain said, we were able to roam the kitchen without any interference.

The chefs we occasionally encountered would take a look at us, smile slightly, and just pass us by.

    “Rain… . That’s a really great idea.”

I praised Lane a lot for her brilliant idea.

    “Ahem… .”

    Lane nodded, clearing his throat.

The tips of her ears were quite red.

The place we arrived with Rain was in front of a small shelf.

A pure white sugar sack on top welcomed us.

    “Doesn’t it look too heavy?”

    Everyone nodded to my question.

It was nice to find the most important ingredient, sugar, but it was difficult to take it all.

    “Do you need sugar?”

At that moment, an unfamiliar voice was heard.

I was startled and hid behind Shine’s back.

    There stood a kind-looking chef.

The smiling face on top of the large statue warmed the atmosphere.

    “Yeah. I need sugar.”

The chef nodded to Shine’s words and filled a glass bottle of appropriate size with sugar.

“If you hold the upper part and turn it, it opens easily.”

The chef kindly showed me how to open the lid of a glass bottle.

I packed the glass bottle containing sugar into a large pocket on my stomach.

The friendly chef told us to be careful with the fire and then disappeared.

    Sugar problem solved.

All that’s left are corn syrup and lemon juice.

And there were ingredients like food coloring.

I was running around the kitchen with the two of them.

Since I couldn’t find any lemon juice, I snuck some lemons out of the fridge and put them in my pocket.

While I was picking up lemons, I also picked up some strawberries and apples.

The syrup was light enough to be held in one’s hand, so Rain took it with him.

    “I got them all.”

As Rain said, we were able to obtain all the materials without any problems.

I praised Rain again without fail.

    “Good job, Rain! ”

Before leaving the restaurant, we took off our hats and hung them on the hooks next to the door.

    With this, everything is ready.

Just go back to your room and make some candy.

The three of us ran towards the room.

When we returned into the room, we took out all the ingredients and placed them on the table in the center.

Sugar, corn syrup, lemon, and various fruits.

Even various food colorings in small glass bottles.

It was clear that with this much skill, I could make some pretty and cool candies.

I immediately turned on my computer and started playing a video about making homemade candy.

“I heard you have to boil sugar and water?”

Rain, sitting next to me, spoke to me.

    It was a difficult start.

There was no equipment to use fire in this room.

    “But… . You can’t use fire here… .”

“Can’t we just use a coffee pot?”

    “Gasp… .”

Rain’s clever thinking always amazes me.

I praised Rain again and again.

He continues watching the video while hugging Rain.

“When it starts to boil, add lemon juice… .”

    “Then add the syrup… .”

I have all the recipes memorized in my head.

I immediately grabbed a coffee pot and sat down on the floor.

Shine and Rain also sat around me.

    “Shine sugar.”

    “Yeah.”

    “Rain water.”

    “Yeah.”

They said there should be a meter, but I couldn’t find one in this room.

Everything must be created solely by feeling.

    I trusted my instincts.

The coffee pot was full of water and sugar.

Now that the water was boiling, I had to add the lemon juice.

I turned on the coffee pot and brought over a large bowl and Lucy’s magic wand.

Because the end was blunt, it seemed perfect for squeezing lemon juice.

    “Catch this, Shine.”

I told Shine to hold the bowl and peeled a lemon and put it in.

After that, Lucy hit the lemon with her magic wand.
