It wasn’t intentional, but I enlisted in the military from a young age.

After awakening the memories of my past life, I realized that this world was a game-like realm, and I worked tirelessly to survive.

    〖Demon of the Battlefield〗

    〖Marksman of the Mana Bullet〗

    〖The Emperor’s Fierce Hound〗

As a result, these ominous titles were attached to my name.

They weren’t titles I sought, but I lived with a certain satisfaction.

The enemy feared me, and my allies praised me—what more could I want?

However, I couldn’t continue to act as the Emperor’s lackey.

“The Empire will be defeated by the Allied Nations.”

A future that could be summarized in a single line was gradually becoming a reality.

Perhaps that’s why I felt a sense of joy at having to face the Emperor due to a battle loss.

If the Emperor reprimanded me, I could simply bow down and apologize, then resign—it would be over.

After that, I could wash my identity clean and escape to some remote island, and everything would be fine.

“I’ve saved up quite a bit of money. If worse comes to worst, I could sell military secrets to another country.”

No more exhaustion from the battlefield. A rosy life was about to unfold from now on.

It was laughable, but since I was summoned before the Emperor, I had no choice but to wear a guilty expression.

    “Lift your head. Daniel Steiner.”

At the Emperor’s voice, calling my name as he sat on the throne, I raised my head.

    Selvia von Amberg.

She was the Empress who held the Empire’s full authority and had forced her brother to kneel for the throne.

Her blue eyes resembled lapis lazuli, and her blonde hair shone like rays of spring sunlight, drawing my gaze involuntarily.

“You have defeated the Magical Armor Division in the Battle of Skeolan and returned to the homeland. This is a tremendous loss for the Empire and a historical blunder.”

Good. All I needed was for the Emperor to reprimand me like this!

If I could use being reprimanded as an excuse to escape the military, it would be the start of a happy life!

“However, considering that the Battle of Skeolan stemmed from a surprise attack by the enemy, that there was confusion in the command process, and that although we were defeated, thanks to your efforts, the damage was minimized, I acknowledge the commander’s military merit.”

    But then.

“In conclusion, I shall award you the Empire’s first-class military honor, the White Dragon Medal of Honor.”

For some reason, the Emperor seemed to have no intention of letting me go.
