    13. Empire of the Glans

    13. Empire of the Glans.

Then why the hell did he say that?

Maybe the assemblyman was mistaken, or he might have just fabricated it; that’s more likely. But fabricating the President’s words, of all things, will always get found out eventually. Especially to Sonia, who has wide connections, it will be revealed in no time. And then he’ll realize ‘the reason why he has to follow Sonia.’

So, there’s no way he’d do something like that for no reason.

“Or…is that itself a means of keeping me in check?”

I thought about it in many ways, but nothing plausible comes to mind.

Guess I have to peek into that human’s brain directly.

    .

    .

As she finished showering and was drying her hair, her cell phone rang loudly.

A number not in her address book.

Since she had to answer calls from unknown people immediately due to her profession, she pressed the call button without hesitation.

And what she heard was a voice full of resentment and anger.

It sounded like she was sobbing, or like she was spitting out deep-seated resentment; anyway, it was a chilling woman’s voice.

An ordinary person would have been fed up with just that, but she was a lawyer. She’d heard countless voices filled with such resentment.

“What’s wrong? Speak slowly. I’ll listen.”

    -He’s dead!!

Words spat out roughly like a shout.

Something seems to have happened, but of course, you can’t know anything with just that.

“Please tell me properly what happened.”

    -My brother is dead!!!

    “….”

She still isn’t saying what needs to be said properly.

-He wasn’t the kind of kid to do that…but…but he died…

“Excuse me, but if it’s about suicide-“

-It’s not suicide! He was murdered! Without…a trial…!

    “…?”

She says he was murdered and then says ‘without a trial.’

She got a hunch in that instant.

    About who it was.

-Is this a country? Is this okay?

“Calm down first…Do you know who I am before you called?”

-Yes…I heard you’re one of the best lawyers in South Korea. From Unhyun-hante….

    “Hmm…I see.”

It seems this woman doesn’t know.

That it was Lee Sonia who led Unhyun to the brink of ruin.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have called with a voice so desperate for help with revenge.

“Well…it’s late today, so shall we meet tomorrow and talk?”

-…Ah…I’m sorry. I came back to the country and this is the situation…I’d like to see you tomorrow.

Realizing it was late at night, her voice has a hint of apology.

    And so, the next day.

The two women met at a cafe.

Sonia was in a neat suit as always. Because of her pretty and young appearance, and the natural elegance she exuded, she attracted everyone’s attention.

The woman across from her was pretty enough to be called a beauty.

Her long hair pulled forward over her left shoulder gave off a subtle sexiness.

Come to think of it, that Unhyun guy was also a handsome man.

    ‘She said…older sister, right?’

Sonia stared silently at the woman in front of her.

Of course, she had a smile on her face.

“I heard you just came from abroad?”

“Yes…I was in America for a bit…but more than that, is this even a plausible situation?”

Whether it was her personality or the shock she received, she didn’t want to make small talk.

Well, she came to a lawyer for a ‘solution,’ so how could she have time for small talk?

“If you keep talking like that, I can’t know anything. You have to tell me properly. What are you talking about?”

    “Ah….”

She paused for a moment and then began to pour out her story.

A few days ago, she received a call from her brother (Unhyun), who seemed to be in some kind of trouble, and comforted him.

He only said it was a woman problem and didn’t tell her the details, but after complaining about this and that, he said in a chilling voice that he would hire a skilled lawyer to bury the woman who betrayed him and the bastards who screwed him over.

But a few days later, she came back to the country to find that he was publicly executed on national live broadcast.

In South Korea, which is reluctant to even execute the death penalty after an official trial, there’s a public execution. And that too, based on the personal judgment of a mere detective….

How could something so absurd happen?

Thanks to that, she hurriedly met her parents, heard the general situation, and called Sonia.

“I heard he was collectively sued by prostitutes for attempted rape, ha! It’s ridiculous…What rape are those bitches who make money by selling their bodies talking about…And I heard he was also sued by a lawyer? A lawyer going to a place like that…And then suing him for sexual harassment, geez…If he drank, he should have just drank quietly!!!”

It seems she has no idea that the lawyer is a woman, or even Lee Sonia in front of her.

Well, Unhyun was sued at a brothel. There’s no way she would think a ‘female lawyer’ would be there.

‘Even so, if he was sued for sexual harassment, she should have at least considered that it could be a woman.’

    “Because of those laughingstocks, Unhyun…!”

She slammed the table with her fist, bit her lip, and teared up.

It seems she cared for her brother quite a bit.

“You’re quite calm compared to yesterday.”

It wasn’t something to say to someone who just ranted and slammed the table, but compared to what I heard over the phone yesterday, she’s a saint now.

“Anyway, I roughly understand what’s going on.”

Sonia nodded, thinking she should cut ties with Unhyun.

The relationship is just that she sued him for sexual harassment, but that has a high possibility of interfering with the fun things to come.

“…I want you to clear Unhyun’s unfairness. And those prostitutes, the lawyer…the detective, I want all those bitches to get the death penalty.”

    “….”

Sonia was speechless at the absurd request.

“Ah. I also want to demand from the country the restoration of Unhyun’s honor and compensation, and sue the military for creating that ridiculous special clause that allows public executions, the police and prosecutors who condoned it using that as a shield, those who filmed the scene raw and uploaded it to the internet, the media, and the netizens who cursed after watching the video.”

    “….”

It’s an enormous amount of anger.

    It’s literally radiating chills.

She looks innocent enough, but when she glares like that, it feels like there’s a bonus added to the scariness.

“…You’re spreading things out quite a bit…Why don’t you just sue the woman he cheated with and broke up with? You could say she was indirectly the cause.”

Sonia was slightly sarcastic, but the woman in front of her shook her head.

“No. My parents are going to her. There’s no need to go as far as suing someone whose face we know. If that bitch is human, she’ll at least get on her knees.”

    “Oh my….”

Sonia feigned a slight surprise and covered her mouth with her palm.

It was closer to desperately hiding the laughter that seemed about to burst out rather than being genuinely surprised.

To send them there of all places. Does she even know where that is?

    ‘Things are turning out interestingly.’

Yoo Eun, as a court official subordinate to the Emperor, who has come to accept only his values as truth, Sonia only saw the woman in front of her as prey.

If someone who knew her saw her now, they would surely say she had fallen into the worst kind of villainy, but she is only protecting her own justice.

The true second-in-command of the court, the Imperial Palace Court Official.

Because she creates laws that no one but the Emperor can defy, she must empathize with the Emperor’s values more than anyone else.

    And so, she smiled softly.

She showed a smile in her eyes so that the other person could feel at ease.

“A lawsuit against the death penalty or a national institution might be a bit difficult…but I’ll try my best. Before that,”

    “?”

    “You know I’m expensive, right?”

“Hmph. I don’t deal with cheap lawyers.”

    “Oh my.”

    +++

    Spat – !

The cheerful sound echoed through the guild headquarters…no, the Imperial Palace lobby.

The gazes that were already focused on them followed a few people even more persistently.

For the record, it’s my Sora-nuna whose cheek turned from being hit by that cheerful sound.

Judging by her stats, she could have avoided it easily, but the reason she’s getting hit is shown by her expression.

    Apology.

That’s the identity of that scene.

    So, what happened was,

A middle-aged couple who visited from the morning walked out briskly, and slapped Sora-nuna’s cheek before anyone could stop them.

    Hmm.

    A very simple case.

Judging by their age, they seem quite old, could they be the parents of that Unhyun bastard?

Isn’t it? There’s no other explanation, right?

If a middle-aged couple suddenly comes and slaps Sora-nuna’s cheek while yelling, and Sora-nuna is accepting it guiltily, then of course, it can only be that bastard’s parents….

    “Hey!!”

Yuna-ssi, who was next to her, stood in front of Sora-nuna.

    Should I get involved?

“Who are you! Get out of the way!!!”

The middle-aged couple, especially the ajumma, is going wild.

She’s about to slap Yuna-ssi’s cheek now.

That won’t do. No more two-nots-touching my precious women.

But they wouldn’t listen if I talked to them, right?

Then let’s give them a taste of the Code of Hammurabi. It’s the very embodiment of the principle of reciprocity.

    Spat – !

    Jjaak – !

I slapped the middle-aged couple’s cheeks equally once each and stood in front of the two women.

I didn’t use all my stats, but I still slapped them pretty hard, so the two of them fell ungracefully.

    Huh?

Aren’t I being too much of a piece of shit?

Didn’t you know? That kind of personality is meaningless in front of a harem.
