Chapter 1218: Side Story – Taming the Divorcee (3

One weekend afternoon, Hope City Guild.

A motorcycle entered the outdoor parking lot with rough driving.

    -Brrrrrrrng!!

Perhaps because it was quite an old model, a black motorcycle entered the parking lot with a rough exhaust sound and stopped.

What got off from it was Na Yurin, a former Beast-type Hunter with dark navy hair and fierce golden eyes.

    -Screeeech.

    “Hooo….”

As soon as she got off the motorcycle, she boldly unzipped her leather jacket.

The zipper that had been holding her rather large chest with slight pressure opened up, revealing her raw body to the outside.

    243

“What kind of guild is even in Hope City…. It’s really damn far….”

If it weren’t for Min-ah’s request, I wouldn’t have had to come all the way to a provincial guild like this to attend an interview.

I didn’t really intend to badmouth the guild itself, or anything. If anything, it was quite the opposite.

My level, having retired several years ago, meant that not even a metropolitan guild, let alone a small guild in the provinces, would even allow me to live as a Hunter. This objective assessment came from knowing that.

That’s why, unlike her outward appearance, Na Yurin was quite nervous inside. She worried that she might have come for nothing, only to be humiliated by the male Hunter who was Min-ah’s husband.

‘Come to think of it, I’ve never seen him before.’

I know about Sung Taekyung, the world’s only male Hunter. I also know that he established the branch guild of Eun & Ok Co., Ltd. in Hope City.

But that’s all. Even though he’s supposedly my junior’s husband, I’ve never actually met him, so I don’t know Sung Taekyung himself yet.

Therefore, even if they ask me to interview out of the blue, it’s only natural that I’d be nervous.

Especially if it’s a Guild Master of a Hunter Guild, there were largely two types. Either they were strict during the interview, valuing Hunter abilities highly, or they’d say ‘you have to protect yourself,’ hire anyone carelessly, and then just leave them to act on their own.

The latter type wasn’t one I particularly liked. It was a guild’s method of keeping Hunters who could no longer fulfill their role, and literally consuming them ‘until they died.’

That’s why, when I was working at Eun & Ok Co., Ltd., after receiving a report that my abilities had declined and was advised to retire, I left without any regrets.

…Thinking that I, who was like that, was now here to interview to join a Hunter Guild again, made me think it was quite ironic in many ways.

‘Well, Jungha and I have been bothering Min-ah too much lately.’

Even without that, calling her, who is pregnant, to drinking gatherings and constantly talking only about ourselves.

In a situation where she couldn’t even drink, listening to the ramblings of drunks must have been torture. That’s why she probably told me to interview at her husband’s guild like this.

That’s why, even though I knew I’d probably fail anyway, I made sure to take time out on the weekend and came all the way down to Hope City, Na Yurin did. If I didn’t even do this much, I couldn’t repay the emotional debt for how she always cared about me in various ways.

‘I should just finish up quickly and head back to Seoul. If it ends a little early, I might even be able to make it to the site….’

    “Yurin-ah~. Over here~.”

    “…Jungha.”

While having those thoughts, as I was parking my bike in the lot, a familiar voice came from a little distance away.

Somehow, with a gentle appearance, Woo Jungha waved leisurely as he approached.

    244

“You’re late~. Did you ride your motorcycle all the way from Seoul~?”

    “…….”

Behind his gentle smile, unable to hide a strange nervousness, seeing his approaching friend, Na Yurin chuckled inwardly.

    “What’s this? Nervous?”

“Nervous~? What are you talking about, Yurin-ah~?”

“Your tone of voice has completely changed from usual. Where did that usual, laid-back, ahjumma-like tone go?”

    “Because he’s Min-ah’s husband~. I should still use a Seoul dialect~.”

Seoul dialect, my foot. You could clearly tell from the sentence endings that she couldn’t shake off her relaxed regional accent. Her tone was obvious.

While thinking the same thing, Na Yurin looked at Woo Jungha, but her situation wasn’t much different.

“Yurin, you too, obviously dressed like that to make an appeal, and yet you’re talking about others~.”

    “…What did I?”

“It’s obvious you dressed like that on purpose to show you’re still maintaining your physique~. It’s been ages since you retired from active duty, what meaning does that even have~.”

“…I just took it off because it was hot.”

“Sure, sure~. If Yurin says so, then that’s how it is~.”

Neither Na Yurin, who mumbled an obvious excuse, nor Woo Jungha, who didn’t really believe the excuse but let it slide, were unfamiliar with each other. They were already too familiar with each other.

Recently, carrying the similar pain of heartbreak, the two of them carefully took their steps into the Hope City Guild.

Weekend afternoon, Hope City Guild Master’s office.

In the now familiar quiet room, as I was working, I noticed two red hearts appearing near the door along with the presence of people.

    ‘They must be arriving soon.’

Even without opening the door, I could easily guess that the people approaching the Guild Master’s office now were the ‘Unnies’ Min-ah mentioned.

Because the members of our guild don’t wear red hearts to the point of turning bright red like that.

Even if they only had relations once a month, their libido wouldn’t build up that much. In other words, they are either not satisfied with their usual sexual relations, or they don’t have relations at all.

Not long after, the door quietly opened, and two women carefully entered the Guild Master’s office.

    -Creeeak.

    “E-excuse me~.”

The first one in was a woman with brown bobbed hair and a gentle expression. Behind her came a woman with dark navy straight hair and a slightly rough impression.

If the information Min-ah gave me was correct, they must be Woo Jungha and Na Yurin, respectively.

“Welcome. I’ve heard a lot about both of you from Min-ah.”

    “Yes~.”

    “…Yeah.”

I lightly stood up from my seat and nodded, and as I did, Woo Jungha bowed with a smile, while Na Yurin answered with a slight glare.

Judging just by their appearance, both of them seemed quite imposing. Not to mention Na Yurin with her rough impression, Woo Jungha too subtly emanated an intimidating aura from his body.

It wasn’t the intimidation that came simply from having large breasts or anything. Among Beast-type Awakeners, she was said to be a Bear-type, so it was probably due to that influence.

…Of course, no matter what, compared to Na Yurin, who appeared openly revealing her chest, my gaze couldn’t help but be drawn less.

‘Did she deliberately dress like that to show off her abs?’

If it was to attract my attention, it was a success. Of course, rather than her abs, my gaze was lingering on her partially revealed chest.

“Please come over here and sit down, both of you.”

    “Yes~.”

    “…….”

“Would you like a cup of tea? Or perhaps coffee?”

    “I’ll have a hot one, please~.”

    “…Coffee, a cold one.”

Since Eunbyul wasn’t here, I boiled water myself instead, and quietly organized my initial thoughts on Woo Jungha and Na Yurin.

Their appearances and personalities were completely different, yet why did they give off such a similar vibe?

Our guild also has many Beast-type Awakeners, but what I felt from the two of them… How should I put it… it wasn’t the innocent feeling like our guild members.

If the Beast-type Awakener Hunters in our guild were like tamed pets, then the two of them felt closer to wild animals.

Since they were people who even had husbands, I initially thought they’d be somewhat docile, but my initial impression had changed slightly.

    ‘…Well, it doesn’t really matter.’

As I always say, I don’t really evaluate people based on their abilities or physical prowess, as long as they have an Awakened ability that can be used as a Hunter.

What I look for is whether they can keep the secret about the guild’s ‘interviews’ enough to be tight-lipped, and whether there’s a possibility of their human relationships becoming strained because I’m conducting the ‘interview.’

And most importantly. Do they have the kind of appearance that makes me want to conduct the ‘interview’ sufficiently?

The first point still needs verification, but regarding the other two points, at least regarding the other two points, I didn’t think there would be any need for concern.

When I heard they had been married and even divorced, I expected someone older. However, based on their apparent age, they looked almost the same age as Eunyoung Noona.

‘Seeing as they don’t look much older than Min-ah, it means their skills were also guaranteed to some extent during their prime.’

While thinking that, I prepared warm black tea and cold coffee, placed them in front of the two, and then sat down in my own seat, directing my gaze towards them.

    “Here you go.”

    “Thank you for the drink~.”

    “…….”

Taking a sip of the tea and coffee, the two people cautiously observed the situation.

Starting with them placing the cups they held on the table, I began the official Hunter Guild interview.

“I heard from Min-ah. You were both Hunters before, correct?”

    “Yes~.”

    “…Yeah.”

“As far as I know, you both reached B-rank Hunter status, is that correct?”

    “During our prime, yes~.”

    “…Not quite that level now.”

“That’s fine. We’re not really looking at your current abilities. The Hunters our guild recruits are those with potential for growth, after all.”

“…At our age, we’re practically retired, what potential for growth?”

…I don’t know about Woo Jungha, but Na Yurin, at least, seems much sharper than I expected.

Afraid of being disappointed after getting my hopes up, she was clearly pretending to be uninterested. It was obvious.

After saying it, she seemed to realize her mistake, flinched slightly, and avoided my gaze.
