Chapter 79

    Chapter 79

    Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.

    Episode 79: Human Bastards (2)

Just like any other day, I woke up in the morning and conducted the roll call. Today’s instructions were simple: train in the morning and then work.

“Then let’s begin the morning training! Form the ranks!”

    As I gave the order,

    “Keureureureuk!”

    “Keureuk!”

Goblins armed with weapons quickly run and form ranks, blocking the dungeon corridor.

    “Oh!”

In the front row, there were shield-bearing goblins.

In the middle row, there were spear-bearing goblins.

And in the back row, there were long-spear-bearing goblins.

As the size of the unit had increased, a third row was newly created. These guys handled longer spears. With this, our attack power had doubled.

“Long-spear-bearers! Middle row guys, raise your spears to your right shoulders! Execute!”

    “Keureuk!”

“Keep it like that, and lower it during combat. Got it?”

    “Keureuk!”

The long-spear-bearers in the back row were new recruits, but they were very well-disciplined, so there were no problems at all.

“Buril. You did a great job training them.”

    “Keureureung.”

As I complimented him, Buril from the middle row turned to me and, like a Hahoe mask, smiled while blinking his eyes consecutively ten times.

“This disgusting little guy. He’s only getting cuter.”

    Anyways, he was adorable.

    “Alright! Imps! Form the ranks!”

    “Kkeureureuk!”

The imps immediately ran and took their positions behind the long-spear-bearers. With this, the invincible Kyuse’s phalanx was complete.

It was a typical formation with tanks in front and ranged damage dealers in the back.

“Perfect. Now, Goblin phalanx! Execute the spear thrust!”

    “Keureuk!”

    ㅡChut chut!

    ㅡChut chut!

    ㅡChut chut!

The shield-bearers raised their shields, and the spear-bearers executed the spear thrust.

    “At the same time, advance!”

    ㅡCheoreok!

    ㅡCheoreok!

    The advance was perfect, too!

“Imps! Prepare fireballs for the front!”

    “Kkeureuk!”

    “Fire!”

    ㅡHwareureuk!

The imps also threw fireballs all at once! They were damn slow, but the simultaneously thrown fireballs formed a straight line of a net of fire. With this, it was a guaranteed hit in close combat.

“Good! We’re really in sync today, guys!”

    ㅡJjak jjak jjak!

I clapped and praised them, and everyone was happy.

    “Wow. Everyone’s so in sync?”

    “They all trained really hard.”

The two girls next to me were also amazed and happy.

    “Hehehe, right?”

“With this, we’ll have no problem even if a Barghest comes again.”

    “That’s exactly it.”

We always needed to be prepared for defense.

“Alright! That’s it for today’s training! You all did well, so let’s finish here!”

    “Keureureureuk!”

    “Keureuk!”

“You all did damn well, so you have personal maintenance time in the morning. Buril, make sure they rest well under your control. Wait for my brother to come. Ah, and eat something in the afternoon. From then on, work leisurely.”

    “Keureuk!”

Buril saluted as if saying, “leave it to me.”

    He was really reliable.

“Lumica. I’m counting on you for the waterway construction today, too.”

    “Are you going out again?”

    “Yes.”

“Sigh… The Demon King is always going out.”

As I said I was going out, Lumica put her hands on her hips, hung her head diagonally, and took a step back with one foot, tapping the ground with the tip of her shoe.

“Huh? Lumica? Do you wish I wouldn’t go out?”

    “N-No! Hurry and go!”

Lumica then ran to her workplace.

    What a sassy girl.

“Well, Sharan. Let’s go see the pixies.”

“Yes, Your Majesty. Ah, bring the pot.”

    “Alright.”

Sharan and I then left the dungeon.

    “Grak.”

Muturi handed me the processed lizard leather. He wanted me to check his work. Touching it, I could tell he did a good job. This leather could be cut, and holes could be made to make goblin arm guards.

“You did a good job, Muturi.”

    “Grak.”

He nodded at my compliment, then returned to his work… Hmm, he seemed to be doing well these days.

    “Sharan, let’s go.”

    “Yes, Your Majesty.”

Let’s go to the pixie village.

Since Sharan was with me, finding the way was not difficult at all. Being a local and fairy-like being, she was very good at finding her way.

    “Serinu! I’m here!”

And with that, flying creatures came over.

    “Ah! Serinu’s friend is here!”

    “The big guy!”

“The one who made the white stuff!”

Their faces and hair colors were different, but they were all small female creatures. The pixies landing around me seemed happy, and their eyes sparkled… Such innocent eyes.

“Pixies, nice to meet you. I’m Kyuse, Serinu’s friend. The one who brought a gift of white stuff.”

    “It was sweet and tingling!”

    “Thank you.”

They seemed to be showing me favor.

    “The dryad came too!”

    “How did they become friends!”

    “Tell us, tell us!”

Now, they were showing interest in Sharan. Sharan smiled and treated them appropriately, and soon Serinu appeared.

“Ah! You’re here! Will you make some white stuff today?”

    “I was planning to.”

    “Yay!”

    She was happy.

Serinu and I went into the village. But as I followed Serinu, the pixies followed us.

“How do you make white stuff?”

    “You seem really big!”

“What’s that horn on your head?”

    These creatures were so innocent.

Their large breasts swayed as they asked, and I had no choice but to answer.

“The white stuff’s creation is a trade secret. And these horns are my trademark.”

    “Wow!”

    “Let’s play together!”

They were starting to cling to me. If this continued, I might completely win over the hearts of the pixies.

“You guys! I will let you play next time, so go back now! I have things to do today!”

But Serinu called an end to it.

    “Heehee!”

“Serinu wants to play by herself! Coward!”

    “Serinu is a coward!”

    Protesting Pixies.

“It’s not a play day today! Let’s play next time! Come on, let’s go!”

    “Yeah. Alright.”

And then Serinu grabbed my wrist and pulled me along. I followed Serinu with Sharan.

“Serinu. Did you say you guys used iron tools last time?”

I saw it last time. The Pixies were using iron tools, though they were not of the best quality. Today, I wanted to see that.

“Yes. Do you want me to show you that today?”

    “Please.”

    “Okay. I will show you.”

Serinu happily agreed and led us.

The place we arrived at was…

    “Oh!”

There was a small blast furnace!

“This is where we make iron. There are spirits inside. They help us make the iron.”

    “There are spirits inside?”

“Yes. Fire spirits and earth spirits.”

    Those damn omnipotent spirits!

    “Show me!”

    “You want to see?”

    “Yes!”

“No. It’s hard to put them in properly. Once we take them out, it’s hard to control them.”

    “Is that so?”

“You don’t know how hard it is to handle spirits.”

    How would I know that?

“Listen. There are iron ores. They are mixed with stones and iron. The melted iron comes out from the bottom when we put the iron ores inside. We then put them in molds to make tools.”

It was truly the initial stage of the Middle Ages.

“Wow. Your abilities are really good. Where did you learn that?”

These guys seemed quite stupid, but they made this. It was incredibly fascinating. How did they learn to make this?

“From the knowledge passed down from older Pixies.”

It was a technology passed down through the village.

“Pixies are really smart, aren’t they?”

“Of course we are smart! We are not fools like you!”

“Yeah, yeah. But Serinu, how do you make clothes?”

“What? You don’t even know how to make clothes? What are you wearing now?”

She looked at me as if she was looking at a fool.

But actually, she was right. I was the fool. The Pixies made their village, created tools, and made clothes, while I looked like an idiot living in a cave.

“This was obtained from somewhere. Can you show me how you make clothes?”

“I tried to see you in a better light, but you’re still a fool. Okay. I feel sorry for you since you don’t even know how to make clothes, so Serinu will show you specially.”

Really, this guy was a champion of showing off while feeling superior.

But I had nothing to rebut.

    Damn it.

    “Thanks…”

    “Follow me, you fool.”

    “Grr.”

As I followed Serinu, Shalani whispered in my ear.

“Master. The female with big boobs is showing off. Like last time, touch her boobs to make her obedient.”

“I can’t get guidance if I do that now, Shalani.”

    “Shaaa.”

    Anyway.

We arrived at the house where they made clothes.

    “Is this the place?”

    “Yes. Let’s go in.”

    “Okay.”

    ㅡCreak.

A unique fragrance wafted through the air as I opened the door and entered.

    But then…

    -Crunch, crunch.

    -Crunch, crunch.

    -Crunch, crunch.

    What was that sound… Huh?!

    “Wow!”

    I saw it!

There, there were some devices connected with threads and a fascinating machine that seemed to be spinning the threads! This was literally not just a cottage business!

“Look. The threads are made by these guys.”

    -Swish.

Serinu opened the lid of the box.

    “I can’t believe it!”

    -Crunch, crunch.

    -Crunch, crunch.

    -Crunch, crunch.

Inside, there were a lot of plump larvae! They were covered in leaves!

“Disgusting, right? These guys eat the leaves and produce threads.”

These larvae were somewhat different from Earth’s silkworm moths. The larvae were not making cocoons; instead, they continuously munched on the leaves, and like spiders, they were emitting threads from their rear ends.

The threads were connected to the machines that were spinning them into skeins.

    “This is really fascinating!!”

I felt like I was in a folk village!

    “Shaa.”

Sharan also looked at the larvae with fascination.

“Hoo-hoo-hoot! What do you think! Our Pixies’ technology!”

“It’s amazing! You guys are so genius!”

“Only a fool would realize that just now.”

And so, I happily talked with Serinu and learned about the Pixies’ technological prowess. It was really fascinating. They made ironware and clothes. They even farmed and raised livestock.

It could be said it was a village of fairies in the forest.

“We play, but we also prepare hard to fight.”

    “I can see that.”

Outside, the Pixies I saw earlier were training for combat. They were practicing stabbing with spears and using attack spells with staves.

They were indeed a proper race.

That must be how they survived in the forest.

“Hey, I didn’t quite get it last time.”

At that moment, Serinu grabbed my wrist and said.

    “Hm? What?”

“If we have to fight those Satyrs, help us.”

    Ah.

“They are aiming for our village. Right now, our numbers are few. If they attack, we are in danger.”

Serinu was proposing a military alliance.

“You are a friend now. So, please help us.”

I had already thought about this.

“There’s no negotiating with them? No talking?”

“What? If talking was possible, we would have been friends long ago. What are you talking about?”

Thinking that talking could make friends was too naive.

Anyway, the Pixies must come under my command. If they were enemies with those guys, they were also enemies to me. Of course, I would form a military alliance. Eventually, I would go beyond an alliance, and they would let me cook to my heart’s content.

“Alright. Since we’re friends, of course, I will help. I got you!”

    “Really?! Yay!”

    “Are you that happy?”

    “With you, we can win!”

    They were very happy.

“First, tell me more about the Satyrs. Their location, scale, and combat strength.”

    “Got it!”

“And what about those lizard guys?”

“I will tell you everything about them!”

    Alright.

    Let’s start gathering information.

“But can you guys fight in the air? Wouldn’t that be more effective against them?”

    “Stop asking such foolish questions.”

    “What?”

“Fighting in the air has its limits. If we all fly away, what will happen to our village? They will take it over. Then where will we go, and how will we live? Wandering around without a village, we will eventually be hunted down. Anyone can think of that. Why do you ask?”

    “…”

Was it wrong to just casually throw in a question?

Anyway, I had a deeper conversation with Serinu and then returned home. Of course, I fed her a lot of white stuff as well.

No matter what, the next target to subdue was the Satyros tribe.

While I was preparing to subdue the Satyros, expand the dungeon, and engage in diplomatic activities with the Pixies, an incident occurred.

I was leading the Goblins for a march and field training session when Sharan suddenly felt a strange presence.

I immediately hid the Goblins in the surroundings and went to investigate.

    “#$%$#%.”

    Voices.

    Voices were heard.

“So if we go this way, #%#%.”

    “Look at the map.”

    “%%#.”

“That bastard, why did he come in here and #%&%, #%&%&.”

It was the voices of humans. Three armed humans were doing something over there…!

    In a split-second decision!

    ㅡSwoosh!

I immediately covered their mouths with my hands!

    This was bad!
