Chapter 68

    Chapter 68

    Otherworld Demon King Survival Guide.

    Episode 68: Big-Hearted Pixies (2)

I recalled the appearance of the pixies once more.

I saw them from afar, but their impression was vivid. They were small in stature but looked like grown women. Wings were attached to their backs, and colorful antennae, similar to those of moths, adorned their heads like headbands.

And they wore clothes made of silk.

What abilities might they have? Whatever it might be, they were wearing proper clothes. I should have a conversation with beings like this.

    “…”

But why did I think of making one of those women mine? It seemed that my way of thinking changed while being a demon lord.

    “Master?”

“Yes, Sharan. Let’s meet them for now. Their willingness to talk is evidence that they are somewhat reasonable. There’s no harm in having a conversation.”

Sending an envoy was a sign of civilization.

It was better to negotiate through words rather than impulsively fighting.

“Shasha. Understood. Shall we go now?”

“Can you tell them we’ll prepare a bit and then head out?”

    “Yes, Master.”

Sharan went to talk with the fairy right away. The fairy’s response seemed to indicate that it was all right for us to prepare before coming.

With that, I returned to the dungeon and equipped all my gear.

Even if it was just for a conversation, thorough preparation was necessary. It could be a trap, after all.

“Master, are you wearing all of that?”

“Yes. We never know what might happen. So, we need to be fully equipped.”

I wore all the items dropped by the human warrior from before, including the sword. Perfect.

“Buril, all of you, bring your spears.”

    “Kek!”

    “Sharan, stay close to me.”

“Yes, Master! Sharan will protect Master!”

Sharan clenched her fist confidently with a proud smile.

“Hehe, right. I trust only Sharan.”

    “Shasha.”

She was so adorable that I patted her head, and she seemed to love it.

    “Let’s depart then.”

I instructed the subordinates remaining in the dungeon to stand by. And then, we headed straight to where the fairy was.

    -Whirring noises-

The fairy, upon seeing us, began guiding us without showing any particular reaction. Was it a lack of vigilance? Or was it sheer confidence? She didn’t seem intimidated even after seeing my gear and subordinates.

We’d find out when we got there.

Anyway, we slowly followed behind her.

“But, Sharan, can you usually communicate with fairies?”

“Not usually. Regular conversations with fairies aren’t possible. But communicating with that fairy is. It’s quite strange.”

    “Is that fairy special?”

Pixies who commanded fairies could speak?

    “That’s truly fascinating.”

Sharan had also fluently conversed with Lumica. They didn’t seem to be using the same language, though. It might be some form of magical interaction.

After walking for quite a while.

    -Rustling-

    An open space appeared.

    “Wow.”

It was a small meadow within the jungle. Trees surrounded the area like a fence. It felt like a comfortable space for intimate conversations.

    And then.

    “…”

    “…”

    “…”

Three pixies stood in the center. All of them were unarmed. They just stood there with their arms crossed, conversing amongst themselves while looking our way.

“Master. Those are them. The large females. Pixies?”

    “Yes. Seems like it.”

    They really were quite large.

There were three pixies in total. The one standing in the center had golden hair and wore a pink silk dress with more frills than the others. Judging by the situation, she seemed to be the leader… All the pixies looked to be around 140cm in height.

    What’s with that?

Weren’t their heights too short compared to their chests?

    They were cute but unbalanced.

    “Hmm.”

Anyway, they were unarmed. They exuded a vibe as if they came to converse. Looking around, there didn’t seem to be any imminent threats.

Then, I should match their disposition.

“Buril, stay here and be on standby. If I call, come running.”

    “Kek?”

    “It’s okay.”

    “Kek.”

Let’s leave Buril behind for now.

    “Sharan, come with me.”

    “Yes, Master.”

Holding Sharan’s hand, we walked towards the pixies. Still, I kept the sword attached to my waist, suspecting they might use magic.

    “…”

The blonde pixie in the center, with somewhat arrogant-looking eyes and sky-blue irises, gazed at me. But the brown-haired pixies behind her looked at Sharan as if they found her fascinating.

    -Rustling-

    We stood before the pixies.

Given the difference in our heights, I couldn’t help but look down… Wait, weren’t their chests too large? Their deep cleavage was too evident.

“Sharan, let’s greet them. Tell them my name is Kyuse, and thank them for inviting us.”

Let’s take a gentle approach for now.

Gratitude was in order when you were invited.

“Shasha. Shasha-sha. Shashaa. Kyuse. Shaa. Shashaa.”

Immediately, Sharan energetically translated and explained. The pixies appeared slightly surprised at first but attentively listened to Sharan’s words.

    “…”

Their eyes widened slightly while looking at me… Hmm. Their gazes didn’t seem hostile.

    And then,

The pixies began speaking to Sharan. It was an unintelligible language, as expected, but soon after, Sharan translated.

“Master, the blonde female says her name is Serinu. She’s grateful for the invitation.”

“Oh? Is that so? Sincerity resonates, after all.”

    I grinned, looking at Serinu.

    “…”

Serinu nodded slightly with a poker face. Good. We might not share a language, but translation was possible. The vibe felt right. It seems like we’d be able to have a peaceful conversation.

    But,

    -Swoosh-

Suddenly, Serinu opened the box beneath her and took out a scroll.

    -Swoosh-

Then, she unrolled it to show me.

    “What’s this?”

    What was she up to?

    In that instant,

    -Whoosh!-

Green light bursted out from the characters written on the scroll!

    “Damn it!”

    Could it be a trap?!

    “Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!”

Having made that judgment, I immediately screamed and threw my body to the right! An unexpected attack! Should I fight? Or should I run away? As I was about to draw my sword, I checked on Sharan’s condition.

    “Ma… Master. They’re not attacking.”

Sharan looked at me with a surprised face and said that.

“What do you mean? They’re not attacking?”

“Yes, Master. They’re asking you to wait and stay still for a moment. Please stand up.”

    What?

    It wasn’t an attack?

    “Damn it.”

Did I throw myself for nothing?

Feeling embarrassed, I scratched the back of my head as I got up.

    “Heh, hehehe…!”

    “Pfft!”

The two brown-haired pixies were laughing.

    “Snort.”

Serinu was holding back her laughter.

    “Damn it.”

Damn, this was embarrassing. Objectively, it looked like I made a fool of myself in front of some much shorter girls.

No, more than that, why were these jerks laughing? This wasn’t my fault. These pixies acted without consideration, leading to this situation.

“Anyway! Sharan, what are they trying to do? Ask them again.”

    “Yes, Master.”

    Sharan immediately began translating.

“Shaya… Master? Understand? They say you’ll understand.”

    “I’ll understand?”

    What did that mean?

    Could it be?

    -Whoosh!-

Suddenly, the scroll emitted light again… The light seemed to engrave into my eyes. What was happening? My surroundings were engulfed in light, and I could see some figures or characters floating around.

    -Snap-

As I reached out to touch one of the characters, everything vanished as if it were an illusion.

    “Huh.”

It felt like I was brought back to reality.

“Ah, can you hear me now?”

    “What? Seriously?!”

    Damn it!

I could understand the pixie’s words!

“Hold on! Can we communicate now?!”

“I’ve just cast the Blessing of Language.”

    “Blessing of Language?!”

“It’s forest magic. You apparently don’t know.”

    How would I know?!

“It’s truly astonishing to witness something like this!”

This was genuinely surprising! To put it in human terms, it was like a Korean suddenly understanding Russian! So, it was some translation magic or something similar!

It was fascinating! That Sharan could converse with Lumica and the fairy! I guessed they were communicating through some magical language, and it seems my guess was right!

    “It’s not really that astonishing.”

While I was marveling at the revelation, Serinu slightly tilted her head and said that, sounding a tad dismissive.

    “So, you.”

    “What?”

“I’ve got a question. Who are you? Where did you come from?”

Where did I come from, she asked.

“You look similar to humans, but you aren’t human.”

“Isn’t that the same for you? You also resemble humans.”

“It’s humans who resemble the races of our forest.”

    Races of the forest?

“Regardless, you’re a species I’ve never seen before. Where did you come from? If you intend to live in this forest, it’s best to be honest.”

    Was this a threat?

Her appearance was cute, but her attitude was quite assertive.

    However.

    -Sway-

She just unhooked her arms, and… those ample breasts were noticeably swaying. Perhaps because she was not wearing a bra and just clothes over them, it was very evident.

But she seemed oblivious to it.

    “Is this a threat?”

“A threat? What are you talking about? Just answer my question.”

“I came from a different neighborhood. From my perspective, your species is also new to me.”

    “Which neighborhood?”

    She was quite persistent.

    -Pointing-

I casually pointed in some direction. Since she claims to have never seen my kind before, there was no need to explain in detail right now.

Let’s just give a vague answer.

    “…!”

However, upon seeing where I pointed, Serinu’s eyes widened.

    Why?

    What?

“Is that so? You came from there?”

    “What about it?”

“It seems our suspicions were correct.”

    “What suspicions?”

    Upon asking that,

    -Pointing-

    She gestured assertively towards me.

“You’re related to that ominous pillar of light, aren’t you?”

    “The ominous pillar of light?”

    Ah.

    Come to think of it.

When I was playing with Sharan and Lumica in the main room, it was as if a meteor fell and the world was brightly illuminated. When I went outside to check, a ray of light and a luminous pillar appeared in the distance.

“Because of that, the forest is in turmoil. Everyone is anxious, thinking it’s an ill omen, and they’re fighting amongst themselves out of suspicion.”

    “Hold on.”

“If you know something, tell us.”

    It was not my concern.

“I have nothing to do with that. I don’t even know what it is.”

“You don’t want to talk? Fine. You won’t tell us everything anyway.”

    “That’s not it.”

“Your name is Kyuse, right? I’m Serinu. It seems you’ve moved into this area. It would be good if we didn’t have to fight over trivial matters.”

    I already told her.

“If you stay out of our territory, we can get along. But if you infringe upon our territory… it won’t end well.”

Serinu warned me with an aggressive tone.

    Whatever.

Whether her attitude was like that or not, she summoned me here to establish a non-aggression pact.

“So you’re saying let’s not interfere with each other?”

“That’s right. Unlike other species, we can communicate. So, we should settle things through words. No need to fight.”

“Well, fine. There’s no need for unnecessary fights. I agree.”

    “You’ve made a wise choice.”

    -Nodding-

    Serinu nodded with satisfaction.

“We won’t interfere in your territory either.”

    “I appreciate that.”

“But how did you tame a dryad?”

    Tamed?

Perhaps because we successfully established a non-aggression pact, Serinu suddenly closed the distance and asked that question.
