Chapter Index

As soon as Kim Dae-yoon entered the house, he put down his bag and turned on the computer.

After checking to see if the real-time recording program… I mean, the plugin was working properly, he came out to the living room.

He vowed to eliminate any distractions that would interfere with watching today’s broadcast.

“Mom, when will dinner be ready?”

“Huh? What’s gotten into the boy who usually avoids helping because it’s too much trouble?”

“Haha, just feeling a bit hungry today.”

Although Mom looked at Kim Dae-yoon suspiciously, she soon said, “It’s almost ready. Since your father will be home soon, would you help set the table?”

Following his mother’s request, Kim Dae-yoon served the food and placed the utensils in their respective places. And a moment later.

-Beep, beep beep beep, beep beep! Click!

With the sound of entering the password, the door opened and his father entered the house.

    “Welcome back!”

Kim Tae-yoon went out first to greet him, and his father blinked his eyes as if he found the sight strange.

    “Oh, son! Welcome back!”

Normally, he would have avoided the embrace as awkward, but for the sake of today’s broadcast, he accepted it willingly.

    -Hug!

He embraced him with the thought that he would probably refuse, but to his surprise, his father accepted it well. Suddenly, he opened his eyes wide and pulled Kim Dae-yoon out of his arms, patting him here and there.

“What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? What’s going on?”

    “What? No, it’s nothing.”

“If it’s nothing, you wouldn’t have accepted the hug so readily. What’s going on! Tell Dad! Huh?!”

Was accepting a hug such a big deal? What kind of image did he have in his father’s eyes all this time? He began to reflect on his actions.

“It’s nothing like that. I just… felt a bit neglectful lately.”

Seeing his father teary-eyed, Kim Dae-yoon felt the need to do better in the future.

“Anyway, go wash up quickly and come to eat. Dinner is ready.”

“Okay, I have a feeling the food will taste even better today!”

Then his father quickly went into the bedroom.

    “Phew, that was tiring.”

In reality, he had prevented his parents from entering his room to watch the broadcast, but seeing how happy his father was made him feel guilty.

After changing clothes and finishing his grooming, his father sat at the table, and Kim Dae-yoon’s family dinner began.

While eating, he couldn’t help but wonder if there were other families who ate dinner together like this recently. It used to be so bothersome, but hearing stories from others made him think that maybe the reason his family was particularly harmonious was because of this.

“Oh, by the way. There seems to be a celebrity living in our apartment building, do you know who?”

Out of the blue, his father said. A celebrity?

“Huh? Who? A celebrity wouldn’t live in a place like this, not even in Seoul.”

Kim Dae-yoon agreed with his mother’s words, nodding his head.

“Well, I haven’t seen her on TV, but her face… um… Anyway, I saw a woman in the elevator today who had proportions that were unbelievable for anyone who isn’t a celebrity. She lived on the floor below us.”

“On our floor? Who moved in? But I didn’t hear anything about someone moving in?”

“But she looked like someone, right? I felt like I’ve seen her face somewhere before.”

“Huh? Who? What did she look like?”

“She had slightly brown hair, in her mid-20s? Her facial features were kind and her chest was really big. Um…”

“Why are you looking at me?”

“Haha, no! Anyway, I don’t know her size just by looking, but she had a big chest and a small waist. Honestly, regular people don’t usually take care of themselves that much.”

    “!!!”

With his father’s description, Kim Dae-yoon immediately realized who it was.

It’s her. Jung Dayoung’s mother. The married woman living next door!

“So, that person was in our apartment? Hmm… Oh! I heard a story about seeing a really pretty model-like person in our apartment, could that be her? Not sure. She lived in the apartment below ours…”

“Anyway, it was fascinating. I’ve never seen such a celebrity-like person in my life. You even said Dayoung’s mom is pretty too.”

“Maybe you were talking about Dayoung’s mom? I heard they got back together recently.”

“Oh, no. It’s been almost 4 years since we moved in here, and I’ve never seen her once. I saw Dayoung with someone before, but it’s not her. And even if she’s pretty, Dayoung’s mom is in her late 30s now, wouldn’t anyone recognize her no matter how long it’s been?”

“Then who is it, really? Is it someone who just moved in?”

    “Well, probably.”

“Anyway, why talk about other people’s business. By the way, why were you so happy to see a pretty woman for once? Your smile is reaching your ears?”

At that moment, Kim Daeyoon could see it. His father’s Adam’s apple bobbing. He probably sensed that something was wrong and swallowed once.

“Oh, no. Not happy, just curious. Honestly, if someone is that pretty, men wouldn’t be interested. To live happily, someone like you is perfect.”

    “Oh~? What am I like?”

“Well, you’re devoted to the family, dedicated to your work, and raise your children well…”

As his father’s praises flowed smoothly like honey, this time his mother’s smile reached her ears.

But Kim Daeyoon’s mind wasn’t there.

What’s going on? The description his father gave matches Jung Dayoung’s mother, right? In her mid-20s, brown hair, brown eyes, and a chest size that seems to exceed an H-cup, with looks comparable to a celebrity.

It matched the impression he saw in the elevator yesterday. But it’s not her? Then why did Jung Dayoung address her as mom? And they do look quite alike, don’t they?

He pondered over the unsolved mystery, but some things are just unknown. If he’s curious about Jung, he’ll have to ask Jung Dayoung himself later.

“By the way, why does Daeyoon seem so happy today? Did something good happen?”

    His father suddenly asked him.

    “Oh, no, nothing much…”

“Oh~ Nothing happened, huh? You even hugged me and greeted me at the door first today?”

“Well, on the way home today, I, um, coincidentally came back with Jung Dayoung I just talked to her and she seems like a nice person. We have similar hobbies.”

“Oh, really? Since you’ve become friends, get along well with Dayoung. She’s good at studying too…”

“This guy. She’s 2 years younger than Daeyoon, and she’s in 11th grade. Even if they get along, what can she learn from her? But still…Dayoung is pretty. Honest. Make sure to do well. Haha. You won’t be able to date until you’re 19. Always following those girls you can’t even meet on the internet or something. Huh? But you should at least try dating before going to college.”

“Mom, really! Dating for a high school senior? Where’s the time for that?”

“Ah, even amidst the war, babies are still being born. It’s not just for high school seniors, even those preparing for college entrance exams or medical school can still have relationships!”

Ugh, damn. Even the topic thrown out as bait turned out to be a landmine.

“Ah, both of you stop! I don’t have any romantic feelings, I’ll handle it myself so let’s just quietly move on. Right? Mom is right. Where do I have the time to date right now.”

Rarely taking my mom’s side, my dad looked at her with a relaxed expression. Then, with a serious look, he said,

“Son, opportunities in life don’t come more than once. Look at me. Huh? If I hadn’t missed that girl in high school, huh?”

Looking at mom, he made a disappointed expression.

“Do you think you’ll meet a woman like your mother, who is patient, good at housework, and looks like a model? Yes. Don’t rush, take your time, choose carefully. That way, you’ll meet a good woman like your father and get married.”

My dad casting a sudden drift.

Kim Dae-yoon felt a surge of respect rising within him.

He even thought, ‘Being a salesperson isn’t something anyone can do.’

    “Anyway, the point is really…”

While saying that, mom didn’t make a displeased expression.

Anyway, after a tumultuous dinner, with some lingering questions, what was important to him now wasn’t the situation downstairs.

He was getting ready to watch the broadcast by checking the fan cafe and the gossip SNS.

“Huh? 30-minute delay notice? Personal reasons? Guest issues?”

Upon hearing the news that the broadcast time was delayed by 30 minutes due to guest circumstances, Kim Dae-yoon felt a moment of despair, but soon found comfort in the fact that the broadcast wasn’t canceled today.

He quickly finished setting up for recording, disguised his study desk, and set up his phone stand to comfortably watch the broadcast.

Now, all that was left for him was to wait for the broadcast to start.
