Chapter Index

    “… … .”

The space where the audition took place was filled with quiet tension.

The place looks like a miniature version of an actual movie set, with cameras and lighting all prepared.

With director Edward Hartman and production company CEO Carl Rogers watching from the front row, the mysterious actor Minho began acting.

The acting he has to do is a scene where he shows the resolve of a hero against a villain.

    “Phew… ”

Minho took a deep breath and immersed himself in the character.

It wasn’t that difficult for him.

All I had to do was tighten the sense that had been loose in reality a little tighter.

    Gooo…

    “!”

And just by that simple difference, the air in the audition room instantly became several times heavier.

The change was so drastic that not only Edward Hartman, who was observing Minho with narrowed eyes, but even Carl Rogers, who suggested the audition, blinked for a moment.

Although no lines were spoken, everyone in the room felt their bodies trembling like an herbivore facing a wild beast.

    ‘What the hell is this?’

Edward felt like he had to run away at any moment. The moment Minho speaks or raises his hand, he has a premonition that his head will be blown off or a bullet will be lodged in the center of his forehead.

‘You’re sure you’re not hiding a knife or a pistol in your arms, are you?’

He felt threatened by Minho’s momentum to the point of thinking such a ridiculous idea.

No matter how Edward Hartman and other officials reacted, Minho stared at the camera with intense eyes and posed like a man about to go into battle. And I recited the lines written in the script.

“This city is under my protection. No one, ever, will let this place be thrown into chaos. You may think I don’t have the strength to do that, but… I will prove that idea wrong right here.”

His voice was strong and full of determination.

The line, which was filled with more force than emotion, seemed to deeply engrave Minho’s face in the viewer’s mind.

After finishing his line, Minho raised his hand and stretched out his arm vigorously as if he was attacking an imaginary villain. In the script, it was a scene described as using supernatural powers to emit fire.

    Phew!

    “Huh… !”

    “Intake… !”

There was clearly a gap of several meters between Minho, who was acting, and the people, but for some reason, they felt as if Minho’s fist had stopped right in front of their eyes.

The audition room was already dominated by Minho’s momentum.

    ‘This is…’ It’s a monster… ! ‘I never thought acting like this was possible!’

Edward Hartman lifted his back, damp with cold sweat, from the backrest and leaned forward. His eyes, which had been narrowed with doubt, were suddenly wide open with confidence, and his mouth, opened in astonishment, looked as if drool was about to flow at any moment.

The word audition no longer existed in his mind.

All he could think about was how he wanted to capture Minho’s acting on camera and put it on the screen as quickly as possible.

    “… That’s it.”

The moment Minho finished acting and took a breath, the audition room was filled with silence.

    ***

    ‘hmm… Was it okay?’

After I finished acting, I looked at the people sitting in front of me.

The script I received contained quite a few different scenes.

Scenes where he or she is joking around with other characters, scenes where he or she is arguing with someone who is not clear whether he or she is a colleague, scenes where he is slyly giving work to a woman, etc.

Since it was my first time acting properly, I chose a scene that reminded me of a situation I experienced while traveling and acted it out.

That’s the smoke I saw just a moment ago. It was a scene showing determination just before fighting the villain.

Fortunately, the weak momentum seemed to have left a deep impression on them.

    Clap clap clap ㅡ

The man with the most varied facial expressions jumped up from his seat and clapped his hands. According to my research before coming here, that man may be Edward Hartman, the director.

Alex Stewart, the head of the production company, also smiled and applauded.

“That’s really surprising. In my entire life, I have never seen anyone portray a hero as vivid as you. What Karl said was not an exaggeration.”

Director Edward also nodded, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

“A solemn expression and attitude, like someone who is truly about to go into battle. I literally felt an overwhelming energy.”

“Hehehe… It’s proof that my eyes are still fine.”

Carl Rogers showed off with a proud face. But even he couldn’t hide his sweaty palms.

Edward Hartman and Alex Stewart looked at each other and smiled with satisfaction.

“It’s a shame that I can only leave it as a cookie video right now.”

“With acting like this, the reaction from fans will definitely not be bad. We’ll have to wait until the story comes out to find out, but there’s a lot of potential for a standalone movie.”

These people probably make a living from movies, and they were already drawing up various ideas in their heads.

Carl Rogers left them alone and came towards me, waving his arms. His appearance did not match his age, and he looked like a boy fan meeting his idol.

“It’s really amazing! Honestly, I never thought I would be this good at acting. Not only does he play the role of Ignis, but he can also play other roles.”

“I thought it would be a little awkward, but this is too much praise.”

“No. It wasn’t awkward at all.”

He shook his head resolutely at my humility.

“Do you know what is the most difficult thing for people who are acting for the first time, especially acting as a hero?”

“Well. Acting like fighting a villain?”

“Simply acting out a fight is rather easy. It can be said to be a basic thing that an actor must do. What’s really difficult is acting using non-existent superpowers. It’s not enough to simply wave your hand in the air. If you try to use CG without proper acting, no matter how solemn the acting is, it will look ridiculous.”

Well, if you were to pretend to use supernatural powers in the air, by the standards of reality, it was clear that most people would look like someone who was seriously ill in the second year of middle school. This was unavoidable because hero movies are one of the types of movies where CG is used the most.

“But I didn’t feel that awkwardness at all in your acting. When I stretched out my hand at the end, I thought for a moment that I had real superpowers.”

“Haha… I’m glad you liked it.”

He answered, avoiding Carl Rogers’ sparkling eyes.

I thought that the reason I was able to act without feeling awkward was because I really had superpowers, not because I was particularly good at acting. So this kind of praise was a bit prickly on my conscience.

“Oh, indeed. But I have a question.”

    “something? Ask me anything.”

“There were quite a few scenes in the script I received yesterday.”

I had a chance to talk to Carl Rogers, so I asked him what I was curious about.

    Seueueuu

I scrolled through the tablet screen and showed him the script.

I said it was a cookie video that was only about 30 seconds long, but I would say it was a fairly full-fledged script for a cookie video. It was a car that was a bit surprising because there were so many different scenes.

When he heard my question, he burst into laughter and said.

“That’s not a script for a cookie video, it’s a script for an audition.”

    “Oh, is that so?”

“Still, this is a scene that could be included in another movie, so be careful not to leak it.”

There was no need to worry about leaks. If you put the tablet in your inventory, no one will be able to steal it.

“Although the cookie video is short, it contains quite a lot of dialogue and requires some serious acting. For general characters, fans cheer just by showing their faces because they are well-known from the original work, but Ignis is a character for whom there are no comics. Don’t you have to show something to get a good response?”

    “That’s right.”

“It is in the same context that the contents of the cookie video were revealed at Comic Con. Nexus Studio’s movies always have cookies as their concept, so fans know that additional footage appears after the credits end without having to say anything, but if the suddenly added hero does not provide any information, fans will first think of the sentiment that it is unexpected rather than curiosity or expectation. I have no choice.”

No sooner had Carl Rogers finished speaking than Edward Hartman, who had finished a short meeting with the production company, approached me.

“You! So the name is… ”

    “This is Lee Min-ho.”

“Mr. Lee! With acting like this, you can definitely include a good scene in a cookie video! No, if this kind of acting is included, the impression of the main story may become blurred… Should I rather relax? But as a director, I can’t tolerate that… Anyway, if I ever film a solo movie in the future, I will definitely be in charge of directing it. Mr. Rogers. Never another director. Please let me take a picture.”

He said that a film director is also a type of artist, and he was spewing out words as if he had been inspired by my acting. Seeing as he even talked about an unplanned solo movie, he must have liked his acting.

Carl Rogers looked at this with satisfaction and nodded.

“I need to rekindle my cooled passion. I’m looking forward to seeing great work come out.”

“Look at my mind. Mr. Lee. Judging by your acting, it seems like you have talent for action movies as well. Are you planning to appear in any other movies? Oh, do you have an agency?”

“Agency… If Awaken were my agency, it would be my agency.”

    “Yes?”

He looked blank after hearing my answer.

    “Awaken… ? Why is the company name suddenly… ”

“Because my main job is Awaken’s CMO. As a hobby, I also run streaming and YouTube channels.”

    “… … ?”

Edward Hartman’s brain, unable to understand the situation, seemed to have stopped working.

Carl Rogers couldn’t help but laugh and tapped him on the shoulder.

“Check the tablet. It’s all there.”

As he looked at the tablet he had placed on the desk, his eyes widened so wide that they felt like they were going to tear.
