by adminIt took about 30 minutes from the hotel to Hwangryeongsan by taxi. We got off at Hwangryeongsan Bongsudae and parking lot, then slowly walked up the road.
“It’s a bit steep.”
“Yeah, it is.”
Later, I found out that there were stairs inside the parking lot that led directly to the entrance of Bongsudae. When we came down, we used them, but when we went up, unaware of this fact, we climbed along the road, so by the time we reached Bongsudae, our breathing had become quite rough.
“Heh, heh.”
Due to the good weather, sweat was dripping profusely. I knew this would happen, so I changed my clothes before coming.
Fortunately, as we climbed up to Bongsudae, the mountain seemed to provide a slightly cool breeze that helped cool off the sweat.
“Ah, feels refreshing.”
Not only the wind but also the view from Bongsudae was breathtaking. From the high-rise buildings in Munhyeon-dong next to Seomyeon to Busan Port and Yeongdo Bridge, the panoramic view was truly magnificent.
“Wow… amazing.”
It was just a short uphill walk, but still, there was a sense of accomplishment in climbing up while sweating. Underneath the ruins called Bongsudae, a deck serving as an observation platform was spread out widely.
“Mom, we need to take pictures quickly.”
This photo enthusiast started talking about taking photos again. However, considering the background, I decided to actively participate in Dayoung’s photo time this time.
“Should we take it with this side as the background? Or should we use the buildings over there as the background?”
Naturally, when asked, I held up my phone, leaving Busan Port behind, to take a picture with the sea as the background.
“Oh, it’s backlit.”
By adjusting the angle slightly to get away from the backlight and capture a slight backlight, the photo turned out quite realistic.
“Mom, besides here, before going up that Bongsudae over there, you can see Gwangan Bridge from that observatory.”
Dayoung was running around like a fish in water. With many spots for taking photos, she excitedly ran to the observatory.
“Slow down! You might fall if you run downhill!”
She’s not even three years old.
Anyway, when we reached the observatory, the expansive view revealed the city line connecting Daeyeon-dong to Gwangan-dong in the distance, the sea beyond that, and the massive bridge spanning across the sea. It was indeed Gwangan Bridge.
“Wow~ The view is great. Mom, can you stand over there for a moment?”
I grabbed the railing of the observatory and struck a suitable pose. As expected, turning my body at a 45-degree angle, clenching one fist, and doing a fighting pose. It’s called the mountaineering pose.
“Why are you posing like you just climbed a mountain?”
Suddenly speaking in a dialect? Dayoung was explaining the pose to me, which felt a bit strange.
“What’s this ‘gyaruru’ thing?”
“Gyarurupiss! Just make a V-shape with your fingers forward and place your hands downward.”
I extended my right index and middle fingers forward to create a V-sign and then flipped my wrist.
“Like this?”
“Hehe, good, good. Smile, Mom.”
“Do I have to smile so mischievously?”

Despite my dissatisfaction, I couldn’t help but laugh as Dayoung continued to press the shutter incessantly.
“Dayoung, let’s take some photos together. Come here.”
This time, I decided to take pictures of Dayoung. I held her hand, positioned her where I was standing, handed her the phone, and took several shots.
And then I showed them to Dayoung.
“Huh? The photos aren’t bad for being taken by Mom, right?”
“For being taken by Mom…” I don’t know why, but perhaps I had some doubts about my skills. However, recently, I had been self-studying editing and filming for NewTube shoots, so I had learned a bit about camera angles. Applying that knowledge, the photos didn’t turn out too bad.
“Oh, we also need a photo of us together…”
Seeing someone stretching the conversation, it seems they are not very good at approaching strangers. What did people say about these types nowadays? Homebody playboys? Anyway, he’s a straightforward guy at home or with close friends, but to those he doesn’t know well, he becomes quite timid.
“Sigh, here!”
I took the phone from Dayoung’s hand and looked around before finding a suitable target.
“Excuse me.”
Approaching two men in their early twenties who seemed like they had just become adults, I struck up a conversation. There were three couples next to them, but I chose to talk to the most approachable ones to avoid causing a disturbance.
“Yes, yes?”
They seemed flustered as I suddenly approached them and stuttered in response. I smiled at them and handed them my phone.
“Sorry, could you take a picture of us?”
Pointing to where Dayoung was standing, I alternated between looking at her and the two blushing individuals.
“Oh, um… sure.”
One of them accepted the phone and moved towards Dayoung and me. I stood next to Dayoung, placed my hand on her shoulder, and struck the same pose as before, smiling.
“Is this right?”
“Yeah, you’re doing great.”
Dayoung also joined in with the same pose, leaning in closer to me, almost pressing her face against my chest.
“Oh, it’s soft.”
“What about her?”
Because of Dayoung’s sudden… no, provocative pose, even the man taking our picture with his phone seemed to blush.
“Sigh. Well, she’s just a kid.”
“Earlier, you said parents call their children kids for life. It’s just a kid being a kid, so what.”
He then leaned his face against his chest.
Anyway, after changing poses several times and taking all the pictures, I thanked them and bid them farewell.
Although I felt a bit regretful about not looking back, given yesterday’s incident, I had developed a more assertive attitude towards male advances, so I ignored it and showed the pictures to Dayoung.
“It’s fine. Yeah. The scenery is beautiful, so the pictures turned out well.”
Saying that, it seemed like he was continuously adjusting the phone, maybe editing the photos.
In the meantime, I enjoyed the view of Gwangan Bridge and Gwangan Beach in the distance, then asked Dayoung if there was another viewing deck somewhere.
Looking around, Dayoung found a sign and pointed in the direction it indicated, shouting, “There! Over there, maybe?”
Following her gesture, we saw a narrow staircase on the uphill road leading to Bongsu Tower. Seeing the path continuing upwards, it seemed like we had found the right place.
We climbed the stairs straight up and arrived at a wide viewing deck.
“Wow, you can see all of Busan from Hwangryeongsan! That side seems to be Dongnae and Yeonsandong, right?”
Dayoung, now comparing the map on her phone with the view in front of her, estimating the geography.
Although new towns like Jeonggwan and Gijang in Busan, Sa District, industrial areas like Gangseo District were not visible, considering that you could see almost 60% of Busan from one spot, coming to Hwangryeongsan seemed like a good decision. Undoubtedly, it was the best place to view the city.
However, the view of Gwangan Beach and the surrounding areas was so impressive that the view of the cityscape stretching in the other direction didn’t evoke the same excitement.
So I took some pictures and looked around, then came down to see the scene from earlier a bit more. Suddenly feeling the urge to use the restroom, I went downstairs only to find a cafe there. The view from the window at the cafe was incredibly beautiful.
Of course, you could see the same view from the observatory, but I thought it might be nice to leisurely enjoy the view while smelling the coffee aroma rather than just facing the wind. So, after using the restroom, I went straight into the cafe.
I headed towards the counter and ordered two cups of coffee and a slice of cake, then took a seat by the window.
“One cup of coffee costs 6,000 won?”
Dayoung whispered to me as if she was dissatisfied, but I smiled and replied, “It’s a tourist spot. Besides, considering the good view, it’s worth the price.”
Sitting down, I absentmindedly gazed outside.
“It’s pretty.”
Even Dayoung, who had been complaining just a moment ago, murmured while looking at the view.
Even after the coffee arrived, we spent quite some time just staring at the scenery when a call came in from Davin.
“Mom, I’m about to leave. Where are you?”
“I’m here with your sister at Hwangryeongsan.”
“Hwangryeongsan? Where is that… Oh, is it close to Dongnae?”
Seems like she’s still explaining about Hwangryeongsan to someone next to her.
I felt a bit regretful that Davin couldn’t see this wonderful sight, but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to show her through a video call. I manipulated my phone to switch to a video call and aimed the front camera towards the window.
“Why did the video call suddenly…?”
“How is it? Isn’t the scenery amazing?”
As if asking how it was, I pointed the camera towards the scenery, and a frantic voice came through the receiver.
“Mom! The angle, the angle!”
At Davin’s urgent voice, I looked at the screen, which was filled with a small image showing what my phone camera was capturing, creating an overwhelmingly impressive landscape.
“Wow…”
An exclamation coming from the other end of the line. It definitely wasn’t Davin’s voice.
I quickly turned the screen back to show the outside scenery again, and only then did Davin breathe a sigh of relief.
“Oh no, Mom. Please. Please be careful.”
I blushed out of embarrassment. I just wanted to share the beautiful scenery.
As I mumbled, Dayoung, who had been watching beside me, patted my shoulder and said, “Stay strong, Mom. That must have been a great view for them.”
-Nods-
Wait, why are they nodding their head?
