Chapter Index

Before the opening of Orion Academy, instructors held meetings from morning to night for two consecutive days.

Long meetings were not particularly uncommon during this time.

I was trying to analyze the new cadets who had completed their placement test and send them to the instructors with the highest potential for development, but it was taking up a lot of time.

    In addition to that.

One of the reasons the meeting was so long was the attempt to peacefully resolve differences of opinion among instructors through dialogue.

Not only the cadets, but also the instructors come from different regions.

Since the duties they were in charge of before becoming instructors at the academy were completely different, and their perspectives on evaluating cadets were different, it was not easy to unify their opinions.

“Then, Cadet Casey will be assigned to Instructor Carrot’s class.”

    “Wow! What a cute cadet!”

Instructor Carrot perked up her rabbit ears in delight.

After a heated debate, it was decided which class another cadet would go to.

The faculty member in charge of the moderator in the middle seat raised his glasses and took out the following document.

    “Next up, Cadet Noah Frozenheart.”

“1st place in the entrance exam and placement test. I should send it to the main instructor.”

The instructors nod and show agreement, saying they have no complaints.

Unlike cadets who received mediocre grades, decisions are made quickly when the results are overwhelming.

“Noah Frozenheart Cadet is sent to Instructor Joo’s class. Any objections?”

The moderator began to organize the agenda by summarizing it in one word.

The instructors indicated that they had no objections.

The briefing continued while the facilitator filled out and stamped the documents.

“Your practical skills are perfect, but you ranked all of your written exams as 1··· Do you like the number 1?”

“It must be his innate bloodline.”

At Orion Academy, it is possible to graduate even with a low written score.

There is no such thing as failing a subject in a written exam, although it does affect things like scholarships.

This picture was created because the purpose of establishing Orion Academy was to prioritize combat-related education.

    “The following are Rohan cadets.”

It is time for the presenter, who has finished organizing, to distribute the following documents to the instructors.

The instructors continued their small talk, waving their hands.

“Instructor Ed was in charge of that gym, right? How was Frozen Heart?”

“Uh··· Well, it really is the bloodline of King Seolho. That’s what it felt like.”

As the meeting progressed, Instructor Ed answered while stroking his beard that had grown unkempt.

    Other instructors showed interest.

“The daughter of the president of Cheon-oe-cheon. There was also a student named Ichinose Yui, right? I heard that student ranked first in the entire written exam.”

    “That’s right.”

“Was he a genius as rumored?”

“He is a genius who is too lazy to talk. It was more than the rumors.”

The instructors looked over the evaluation forms that Instructor Ed had written with admiration.

After a moment, he furrowed his eyebrows in question.

“But you gave 3rd place in the practical test to Ichinose Yui?”

    “2nd place is Rohan···?”

“Ah! That cadet from the South. Is there a reason why he was ranked like this?”

It’s not that kind of pressure to push for restraint from high-ranking officials.

At this point, I’m really curious about the reason, so I’m asking directly.

    Instructor Ed knows that too.

He scratched his disheveled head and expressed his opinion.

“Only cadets who completely destroyed the test golem were evaluated against the Orion Academy’s goals.”

Wars and political conflicts between nations have long been proven to be meaningless and pointless.

Also, the days of considering monsters as mere weapons materials have ended.

The real enemies threatening humanity today are monsters.

Among them, there are special entities that threaten the survival of the country.

Everyone recognizes that if we do not unite, we could face destruction overnight like the South.

Because of the terrible disasters and incidents that made us ponder that fact, Orion Academy is doing its best to foster friendship between nations and train specialists who can hunt monsters.

“The order is just that Rohan Cadet.”

When Instructor Carrot put down the evaluation sheet and picked up the documents, everyone turned their gaze to the paper in front of them.

“Well, I guessed all 3 answers in the written test.”

“Isn’t this a performance that was shown because you were confident in your skills?”

It’s just a matter of writing down a line.

It’s no surprise, there are always new cadets who misbehave.

“But the entrance exam scores··· Ahem.”

“Looking at the entrance exam results, did you get in with a passing grade?”

“That’s a special case. On the day of the entrance exam, I came from the south, so my condition wasn’t good···.”

The feeling that something is going to be long.

Instructor Ed raised his hand slightly to get everyone’s attention, then continued his explanation.

“If you compare Rohan Cadet to Cadet Noah Frozenheart or Cadet Ichinose Yui, his total magical power and physical abilities will be far inferior.”

“Then what about this cadet do you think Instructor Ed would rate highly?”

When Instructor Carrot asked with a smile.

Ed recalled that time with a sigh and shared his thoughts.

“If Cadet Ichinose Yui’s swordsmanship has a refinement that can be called art, Cadet Rohan’s swordsmanship is like that of a butcher whose job is slaughter.”

    “Hehe···.”

“He must have been through a lot because he’s from the South. Judging from his sword skills, he seems like he could kill a monster well.”

“Haha! He’s the guy I’m looking forward to.”

“Anyway, it was a little closer to the goal that the Academy was aiming for. This is the part where I gave it 2nd place.”

The instructors’ eyes sparkled with interest at the assertive voice.

It’s very rare for Instructor Ed to praise a cadet.

“In my opinion, I think it is best for Rohan Cadet to be under the guidance of Instructor Jooyeon in order to grow properly.”

    *****

The first day of school, prepared with repetitive routines.

Rohan, who finished his morning exercise without fail today as well, hurried to prepare to head to the academy.

    “Whoo!”

Actually, there is nothing grandiose about preparing.

All I have to do is put on my academy uniform and pack the bag I prepared yesterday.

    ‘Shall we go?’

I put on my only pair of sneakers and turn the doorknob.

    Crunch!

As I open the door, cool air touches my skin.

A damp smell that you can’t smell in the afternoon. It’s definitely morning.

There is nothing I can do about leaving the dormitory earlier than the scheduled school start time.

Even though I messed up my notes, my practical skills weren’t bad. Because of that, I was really curious about which class I would be assigned to.

It’s not just Rohan who feels excited.

The Orion Circle bulletin board has also been full of posts lately expressing questions and concerns from new cadets.

    “Use it!”

Rohan filled his lungs with cool air.

I enjoyed the excitement and walking briskly.

‘Let’s do something a little extravagant this morning.’

Rohan opened a shop where he accumulated points through achievements.

◇ Random Skill Book – 500P (can be purchased once)

    ◇ High-protein jerky – 3P

    ◇ Cloud Bread – 2P

    ◇ Coral Jelly – 2P

    ◇ Energy Drink – 2P

    ◇ Mineral water – 2P

    ··

    ··

    [ Remaining points – 375P ]

I have not spent any money on the status window since purchasing it.

Thanks to my tenacity in collecting just one skill book, I was able to accumulate quite a few points.

    But today is an exception.

I decided to buy some beef jerky with my precious points.

I skipped breakfast, especially because the words ‘high protein’ were so appealing.

‘It felt like a celebration of the beginning of the semester.’

I also wanted to find out how the items I bought at the store were provided.

    [ I bought high-protein jerky. ]

As soon as I made the purchase, the points were deducted and jingled.

A space the size of a fist shook right before my eyes.

    ‘···what?’

The moment I started wondering what that thing that looked like an azalea was.

A notification window appeared before my eyes.

    [ High protein jerky ]

◇Jerky made by smoking apple trees for a long time.

◇Using beef brisket, it is low in fat and has a mild taste.

Information seeps into your head telling you to put your hand into space and pick up the item.

Then I pulled out the object, having the mystical experience of my hand being sucked into the air.

    ‘It’s like this.’

A white ziplock bag is full of beef jerky.

The plastic used for packaging does not have any company name or manufacturer information.

As I unzipped the pack, thinking of chewing on a few on my way to the academy, a smoky scent tickled my nostrils.

    ‘Wow, that smells terrible.’

When you say beef jerky, doesn’t it feel more like a side dish rather than something to fill you up with?

So, it was an image that it was hard to expect much in terms of quantity, but this was just blatantly large. The taste was also good.

    “Hmm!”

I took a handful of the cut jerky and packed the rest in my bag.

I picked up my pace as I walked towards the main gate of the academy, which was starting to come into view.

    ··

    ··

So I checked the class layout on the first floor of Orion Academy.

I froze and forgot to even think about looking up the main character’s name.

    ‘I’m in class 1!?’

Class 1 is the class where most of the main characters are located.

This is the starting point for the Abyss City protagonist. Even a quick glance reveals many familiar names.

If it goes like a game, what kind of instructor will I face?

    ‘Leading instructor!’

A strong man from the Samhwa Kingdom.

The level of the Orion Academy instructors is all excellent, but this instructor is a unique and incomparable figure.

It is thanks to the current academy president that such a great person is doing the job of an instructor.

The position of Dean of Orion Academy, which is held in rotation by the three great powers.

‘If the story is true, it was Samhwa-guk’s turn to choose the president two years ago… Is it really two years?’

Afterwards, Baekwoonsan, who was called the gentleman of Samhwaguk, took the position of the school president, and the nobleman who was barely able to be called in through a past connection became the main character.

Ultimately, this is also the basis for the situation where the protagonist encounters a thousand-armed helpers and grows.

‘Ah! I have to find that.’

I rolled my eyes, suppressing my excitement at the rising duty. I wasn’t surprised to see that the protagonist’s name wasn’t there even after looking around the entire class layout.

It was something I expected after living in Academy City for a few days and exploring the community.

Now, my mind keeps wandering in other directions.

    “···.”

    Instructor starring.

What would it feel like to actually see a person with that much power?

I started to climb the stairs to get to the halfway point with my heart pounding.

The door to class 1 opened!
