    “Ugh…”

I woke up from bed and turned on my phone screen to check the time.

    Current time: 7:00 AM.

I woke up 30 minutes earlier than the alarm I had set.

    I frowned.

Because the memories of yesterday came back to me vividly.

After the Exorcist Guild’s attack, Jupiter had to take medicine to quell his rampaging senses.

I couldn’t know exactly what the effects of that medicine were, but I knew at least that Jupiter was no longer in a state where he could play games.

In the end, the farming plan that had been promised all night was canceled, and I ended up spending time hunting down the remnants of the Exorcists until 12:00 AM.

I had a good night’s sleep and woke up, but I didn’t feel good.

I stretched out my stiff body and headed to the bathroom.

    ***

My first time going to school since becoming a high school student.

But it wasn’t much different from middle school.

Because the school was right next door.

I walked along the familiar streets and arrived at a large school gate.

Since the building was built right next to it, the school gate was also shared by the middle school and high school.

I stood in front of it and looked at the newly enrolled kids.

How cute the little girls and boys were, wearing their uniforms and hesitantly heading to school.

Watching them, a smile naturally flowed out.

    That’s when it happened.

My sensitive senses detected someone approaching.

Carefully, cautiously, trying to hide their presence as much as possible, but they couldn’t fool my senses.

Even the sound of their breath flowing from their mouth.

I suddenly turned around and looked at the person approaching from behind.

Eyes met in the air, eyes wide, mouth wide open.

The small girl was screaming silently, as if startled.

    “Ellie.”

    “H-How did you know…?”

    “I can hear everything.”

Because I had more sensitive senses than others, I was sensitive to changes around me.

So if you were thinking of sneaking up on me and surprising me, you should give up.

    “Ahem, ahem…”

    “Is your body okay?”

    “I’m fine.”

Ellie said that and wiggled her hands.

Seeing her put her hands together and looking at me, it seemed like she had something to say.

I took a step closer and asked.

“Do you have something to say?”

    “W-Well, that’s…”

    “That’s?”

    “U-Um, lunch…”

    Lunch?

Are you telling me that the reason she came to find me this morning was to make a promise to have lunch together?

I looked at Ellie and let out a hollow laugh.

I could have lunch with her anytime.

    But is that really okay?

Ellie is in a different class.

To get along well in the class, it would be better to eat with the friends in that class rather than with me.

“Don’t you eat with the kids in your class?”

“…It’s so overwhelming, I feel like I’m going to die.”

    Overwhelming?

At that moment, I realized that Ellie was not an ordinary Korean.

Ellie was a pure Westerner, not a mixed race. Of course, she would get a lot of attention.

Even now, other students passing through the school gate were glancing at me and Ellie.

“So you’ve been waiting here all this time to make a lunch appointment?”

    I looked around and said.

As the new semester begins, the weather is still cold.

Ellie was trembling and waiting for me in this cold.

A corner of my heart throbbed.

“Okay. Come to our classroom during lunch break.”

“R-Really? Really… are you really going to have lunch with me?”

    “It’s not like I can’t.”

    “Thank you…!”

Ellie smiled brightly and shook her shoulders as if she was deeply moved by my words.

By the way, her way of speaking is very strange.

The English that sometimes flows out in her mutterings, the paladin’s 말투 (mal-tu, way of speaking) used in Deron, and the ordinary girl’s 말투 (mal-tu, way of speaking) that sometimes pops out were mixed together, giving a dizzying feeling.

“It’s cold, let’s go in now.”

    “Ah, okay!”

I headed to the school building with Jupiter.

Unlike the cold wind blowing outside, warm heater wind was blowing throughout the hallway, so I could quickly feel a cozy feeling.

“Now it’s time to say goodbye…”

“We’re going to meet at lunchtime anyway, right?”

    “It feels so long…”

Ellie, whose classroom was different, stopped by my side before parting and muttered as if she was sad.

I looked down at her and sighed.

Can this little girl really make it through school life?

    “See you later.”

If we were in the same class, I could have taken care of her in many ways.

I said goodbye to Ellie and headed to the classroom.

Ellie’s gaze didn’t leave me until I entered the classroom.

    “Oh.”

I entered the classroom and looked around, letting out a short exclamation.

I thought the atmosphere would be noisy because the whole class was made up of female students, but everyone was sitting quietly in their seats, using their phones or reading books.

Do they all become adults when they’re in high school?

I shook my head, recalling vague memories.

    No. That can’t be.

Isn’t high school the age when you’re full of energy?

In my previous life, high school was full of incidents and accidents.

It’s just that the atmosphere in this class is unique.

I carefully walked over and sat down in my seat.

The classmates didn’t show any special reaction even when I came in.

After making eye contact once, they turned their heads and focused on what they were doing.

    “Hello.”

    Hello.

The light greeting was said by Sohee, who was sitting next to me.

But at that moment, I was able to capture a very strange movement.

The small female student sitting right in front of Sohee flinched when Sohee’s voice came out.

“Hayun-ah. Aren’t you going to accept my greeting?”

    “Ah, sorry. Hello, Sohee-ya.”

I shook my head at Sohee’s comment and shifted my gaze.

Sohee, sitting in her seat, was looking at me with a warm smile as always.

I sit down and organize my bag, thinking.

Even though I became a high school student, I didn’t feel like anything had changed in particular because Sohee was sitting next to me.

It just felt like an extension of middle school life.

“Do you need the nurse’s office?”

    “The nurse’s office? No, I’m okay today…”

I tilted my head, answering Sohee’s sudden question.

‘Are you going to use the nurse’s office again today?’ It was a very familiar question to me.

Because I always heard it when I was in middle school.

    But this is high school.

Of course, there wouldn’t be a nurse’s office that I used in middle school.

That’s why I couldn’t help but feel a sense of incongruity in Sohee’s question.

“Didn’t you stay up all night today?”

“Uh… that’s what happened… But Sohee-ya. Can we use the nurse’s office here as we please too?”

Sohee smiled silently at my question.

The silent smile she sometimes shows was a weapon Sohee pulled out whenever she had trouble answering.

I’m weak to Sohee’s smiling face.

“Tell me if you need the nurse’s office. I’ll prepare it for you.”

I don’t ask what she’s going to prepare.

Because it was obvious what she was going to prepare.

It was definitely something like an aroma scent, luxurious pillows, and blankets that would allow me to get a good night’s sleep.

Time passes, and the homeroom teacher comes into the class and starts the morning assembly.

A light greeting followed by question time.

After that short time passed, the homeroom teacher began to elect a class president.

    But no one volunteered.

As silence continued, the homeroom teacher opened the attendance book and called out names.

    “Lee Sohee…”

    “Yes.”

    “Seo Hayun…”

    “Yes…?”

“Lee Sohee… will be the class president, and Seo Hayun will be the vice president. There were no volunteers… No one has any complaints, right?”

No one complained about the homeroom teacher’s words.

    Only a quiet silence continued.

Sohee and I were inadvertently given the titles of class president and vice president.

I looked up at Sohee and looked at her.

Does she really have no complaints?

In my opinion, the class president and vice president were just a pretty picture.

They have a lot of work to do, but the authority given is very low, errand runners for the teachers.

That was the image of the class president and vice president that I had in mind.

    So I can’t stand it.

I chose a slight deviation here.

    “Teacher.”

    “Then… uh? Why?”

“I don’t want to be the vice president.”

    “What…? You don’t want to?”

    “Yes.”

    “Ah, no, why?”

    “I just don’t want to. I’m busy.”

    I frowned and said.

I’m always busy when I’m given these useless titles.

I thought it would be better to go around the Deron community site and collect new information during that time.

    “No… don’t do that…”

    “I don’t want to.”

    “Ah…”

    If I don’t want to, I don’t want to.

I shook my head and answered.

But the homeroom teacher’s reaction was strange.

Wasn’t she looking at me anxiously with a pale face?

No, to be exact, she was definitely looking at Sohee, who was sitting next to me.

    “Hayun-ah.”

    “Yeah?”

“Don’t do that. Let’s do it.”

“I don’t want to. The vice president is busy. I have to walk around all the time.”

    “That’s…”

“I’d rather do Deron Gallery during that time.”

“But… if you faithfully perform the role of vice president, your GPA will improve…”

Should I be an errand runner for a year for the sake of my GPA?

    I don’t think so.

And I’m already getting good test scores without getting those scores.

So I didn’t need it even more.

“I’m good at studying, so it’s okay.”

    Sohee will know too.

    My amazing study skills.

This is innate. I always stay at the top even if I don’t listen to classes.

    What if I start studying?

    It’s a natural disaster.

Those who study normally and raise their grades might be frustrated.

A whale can’t go where carps play.

    I nodded and sat down.

“So I’m not going to do it.”

    “Ah…”

    That should be enough explanation.

Sohee must have realized it too.

Sohee, who was standing blankly as if she had realized something from my answer, shook her head and opened her mouth.

“Then I won’t do it either.”

The vice president and president, who were directly selected by the teacher, refused their positions and sat down.

The teacher, who was standing in front of the podium, hugged the attendance book with a pale face.

“Teacher. I think it would be better to pick other kids.”

“I, is that so? Well, it’s not good to force them…”

    “Yes. I think so.”

Sohee continued the conversation with the teacher calmly.

In the end, the teacher, who was trying to assign positions to me and Sohee, called out the names in the attendance book and put other kids in the positions of class president and vice president.
