Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –

“How can you remain
silent when the eldest son of Count Georg’s Family was humiliated
like that?!”
‘Ugh, this again.’
Mev’s stomach churned at the
sight of the Countess storming into his office, raising her voice.
“It’s already over. Stop
it.”
“Over? How could it
possibly be over?! You’ve acted recklessly! I never agreed to such
measures!”
These arguments had become a
daily occurrence ever since Mark Georg, the eldest son of Count
Georg’s Family, had caused a scene with a foreign count and returned
home.
‘It’s exhausting.
She won’t listen, and I have
no confidence in persuading her.
How long will this chaos
continue?’
“As the head of the
family, this is my order. Stop it, Countess.”
“Why are you making such
a fuss over the Allen Family?! They only guard the border of a minor
kingdom! Regardless of their past, they are like a toothless wolf
now…”
“Sigh.”
Hearing the Countess’s
yelling, Mev deliberately sighed loudly.
Feeling ignored, she raised
her voice even more, but Mev harnessed his magical power to overwhelm
her, forcing her to quiet down.
“Countess, I participated in
the territorial dispute between the Soladin Kingdom and the Magic
Empire in the past.”
The dispute was sparked by a
dungeon.
A dungeon had appeared along
the border between the territories of the Magic Empire and the
Soladin Kingdom, prompting nobles from both nations to send their
soldiers to capture it.
Naturally, there arose
conflicts between those who believed the kingdom should conquer the
dungeon and those who thought the empire should.
Typically, conflicts such as
these would be resolved diplomatically among the nobles overseeing
the territories.
However, this time was
different.
Amid the already tense
atmosphere between the Kingdom and the Empire, the conflict became an
excuse for a showdown.
What should have been settled
through dialogue suddenly turned into a matter of national pride
between the two nations, causing both to mobilise their forces to the
border.
Like a row of dominoes waiting
to fall, the slightest push caused everything to collapse, and war
erupted.
On that frontline was Mev,
renowned as a genius mage, and Benedict Allen, known as the beast
that guarded the Kingdom.
“I saw it. The monster
that shattered the frontline single-handedly.”
Benedict did not even mount a
horse. He led the charge straight into the middle of the frontline.
Any normal person would have
been reduced to dust in the barrage of attacks, but Benedict was
different. He took on everything and tore through the frontlines.
It didn’t stop there. Amid
the chaos, he kidnapped several nobles, including the commander of
the frontlines, rendering them unconscious.
“I saw it. A comet split
by a sword wielded by a man.”
The Meteor Strike created by
numerous mages of the Magic Empire. Though many of the Kingdom’s
talents managed to weaken it, it was Benedict Allen who ultimately
finished it.
He swung his massive sword,
almost as hefty as his own build, and ripped the comet apart.
“I saw it. How one person
from one family could turn the tide of war.”
In the end, it was the Kingdom
that emerged victorious from the war.
Many factors contributed to
this victory, but the most striking was undoubtedly Benedict Allen.
Since that day, whenever asked
about the strongest family on the Continent, Mev would answer; The
Allen Family.
After his daughter was born,
Benedict became reluctant to take active roles, leading to rumours
among the younger generation that the beast had lost its fangs.
“I’ll say it once again.
I have no intention of antagonising the Allen Family. I don’t wish
for the beast that guards the Kingdom to reach this place.”
If that happened, the monster
in human form would arrive here filled with rage, tearing everything
apart.
Having said this much, Mev
leaned back in his chair and let out a long sigh.
Usually, Mev tried to respect
his wife’s opinions, but this time was different. This was a matter
of the family’s survival. There could be no compromise.
“Leave.”
Mev spoke sternly, leaving the
Countess unable to say more. In the end, Mev was the head of the
Georg Family.
The Countess left with a
displeased expression, and almost simultaneously, one of the family’s
servants ran into the room.
Despite his heavy breathing,
the servant respectfully greeted Mev.
“What is it?”
“The Lady of the Allen
Family urgently wishes to discuss something with you, my Lord.”
Hearing this, Mev covered his
eyes with his hand.
‘Oh, great Armadi, please
bring peace to this family.’
“My Lord?”
“I will go myself. Where
is the Lady?”
“I have guided her to the
reception room.”
“Well done.”
‘I hope it’s nothing
serious.’
Convincing Benedict was
simple.
[Karia is alive? Is that
true?]
”Do I really have to say it
twice? Silly Papa?♡”
After explaining to Benedict
that Karia was alive and needed help, he said he would handle the
urgent matter first and then come right away.
“Just wait for one day.
I’ll take care of everything within that time.”
Benedict, who was probably as
strong as or even stronger than Karia in her prime, promised to join
the mission.
In effect, it meant that
succeeding in dealing with Karia was almost certain.
But my goal isn’t simply to
defeat Karia. It’s to save her from the Curse of the Evil God.
In the world of Soul Academy,
there were several characters afflicted by the Curse of the Evil God.
As characteristic of Soul
Academy, which offers high degrees of freedom, players were given
choices when encountering these characters.
Whether to mercilessly take
their lives or somehow save them from the Curse of the Evil God.
If such a situation happened
in real life, you would likely have to choose between these two
options, and the choice would be irrevocable.
But since it was a game, I
tried both options.
To clear all the achievements
in Soul Academy, you had to go through both mass killing and sparing
everyone at least once.
Because of that experience, I
had a general idea of how to save Karia in this situation.
Here’s what’s needed:
Someone capable of facing
Karia head-on.
Someone who can counter the
Evil God’s magic she uses.
And someone who can lift the
Curse of the Evil God controlling her.
I’ve given this a bit of
thought.
We’re already planning to use
Benedict as our cheat key, right? So why not take the easy way out
for once?
It’s not like I always have to
struggle to clear those sloppy, useless quests, right?
Sometimes, it’s okay to stand
back and just clap while the problem gets solved, isn’t it?
“What? Sir Benedict is
visiting this place?”
Count Georg’s lips started
trembling after hearing Benedict would come here.
The reason is simple. I didn’t
explain the situation in detail.
He’s probably guessing that
Benedict is infuriated due to his foolish son’s actions.
Though it’s true that the man
struggles with decisions, it’s surprising to see even someone as firm
as him tremble at the thought of Benedict.
Alright. I’ve just pushed this
man into hell, so now it’s time to throw him a rope.
‘Don’t worry, Count…’
“Don’t worry, scaredy-cat
Count. My silly father is not coming here because of that.”
“What? Then why?”
I roughly explained to the
Count what happened inside the dungeon.
About Karia being caught up in
the Curse and Benedict who would come to save her.
I didn’t mention anything
about the sealing of the Evil God. Explaining and convincing him
about that would be too bothersome.
Count Georg is not someone who
can be persuaded like Karl or Grandpa by just saying that Armadi, the
Sloppy God, told me so.
“He’s coming to save an old
comrade.”
After hearing the whole story,
the Count sighed with genuine relief.
“If that’s the case, there
shouldn’t be any problems. I promise to provide full support,
including his stay and anything related to it.”
‘Really?…’
“Really? Because I have a
favour to ask you, scaredy-cat Count.”
“What is it?”
‘Join our party.’
“Please come into the
dungeon with us. Don’t tell me you’re too scared to even do that?”
Benedict is more than enough
to face Karia head-on. It’s not just my guess; Grandpa nodded in
agreement, so I’m sure of it.
So, we just need two more,
right?
One of the two I chose is
Count Georg.
He may seem a bit sloppy, but
as a mage, he’s a whole different level.
He’s a genius respected for
his abilities, even among the numerous capable mages in the Magic
Empire—a monster.
He was a tough opponent who
used various types of magic to torment players upon meeting certain
conditions. He was one of the more difficult bosses.
Originally, he is someone you
could never recruit as a party member, but this isn’t a game, right?
Those kinds of restrictions
don’t exist here.
“You mean me?”
The Count visibly showed his
unease, as if he couldn’t believe I’d ask such a thing.
“That’s a bit difficult.
As the Count responsible for guarding this place, there are various
rules I must adhere to, so I always…”
‘What if Benedict…’
“Should I tell my silly
father everything then? About the perverted acts of the cowardly
Count’s son?”
Will that be alright?
How do you think my doting
father will react when he hears that Mark tried to seduce me and then
failed, only to attempt to harm me?
I doubt he’d take it lightly.
The Count’s eyes trembled.
It’s like being told the rope
you’re clinging to while climbing out of hell will be cut.
It must be quite a shock.
“Are you… threatening me?”
‘Yes. But what of it?…’
“What of it? Are you angry?
Does it upset you that an inexperienced little girl like me is acting
so arrogant? Even so, there’s nothing you can do about it. Cowardly
scaredy-cat Count.”
The Count was right.
This is a threat.
I can make this threat because
I have the justification and because Benedict, a calamity in his own
right, stands behind me.
But Count Georg cannot refuse
this threat.
No matter how much he dislikes
the cheeky kid in front of him, he can’t do anything about it.
After all, his foolish son
made the first mistake.
Count Georg, who had been
looking down at me from above, clutched his head, reversing our
positions.
‘Don’t worry…’
“Don’t worry. All you have
to do is go into the dungeon and fight. Even if you’re a coward, your
magical abilities aren’t sloppy, right, Count?”
He looked up at me from below,
and I looked down at him.
At this moment, it was as if
the answer had already been decided.
“…Is that really all?”
‘Yes, of course. If you do
that, there won’t be any problems.’
“Of course. If you do that,
even a cowardly Count like you and your perverted trash of a son will
be just fine.”
“I understand…”
Count Georg nodded, his voice
a mixture of resignation and a sigh.
