Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
139
Would having more people in a
battle be advantageous?
We could delve into various
scenarios endlessly, but generally speaking, this premise is true.
Having a greater number of
combatants is usually beneficial in most cases.
Take games, for example. The
harder a boss is to defeat, the larger the raid group needs to be,
and there’s a reason for that.
The same applies here. Right
now, I have an exceptional skill set for a first-year Academy
student.
I’m confident I could take
down at least two decent parties by myself. In fact, during the field
trip, I easily dismantled top parties during the pillaging.
However, I can’t handle all of
these people surrounding me by myself.
If I believe the perverted
Fox, there are about a hundred of them.
Ha ha. Seeing it in person is
really overwhelming. I must have built up some serious karma. Seeing
this many people gathered just to take me down is quite intimidating.
Well, outwardly I may seem
confident due to the [Mesugaki] Skill.
I force myself to suppress the
tension within, observing those who came to raid me.
Because I didn’t even try to
hide and confidently showed my face, the students looked confused.
They seem to think I’ve set up
some sort of trap. If it were the old Lucy Allen, maybe things would
be different, but the current me, though rotten to the core, is a
capable witch in their eyes. There’s no way I wouldn’t prepare for
this.
Actually, aside from asking
Phoebe to use barrier magic to buy time if they blindly charge
through the clearing, I haven’t made any other preparations!
While I was contentedly
observing, Arthur finally made his appearance.
It’s about time.
To be honest, fighting them
head-on is impossible for me.
If Benedict were here, he
could knock them all out with one punch, and if Karl were here, he
could handle them with ease, but I’m not there yet.
By the time I’m in the second
grade, things might be different, but I haven’t even finished the
first semester of my first year.
I might be able to hold out
for a while, but eventually, I’d be overwhelmed by sheer numbers and
defeated.
Even if my party joins in, the
outcome wouldn’t change. We might hold out a bit longer, but in the
end, we would still be defeated.
So why am I not running away
and staying here? Do I intend to atone for my past mistakes by
receiving a proper education (lesson) from these people?
As if. I have no intention of
letting anyone lecture me.
Do you know how miserable it
is to be overwhelmed by negative thoughts when getting lectured?
Unfortunately, unlike that
perverted Fox, I’m not a masochist and have no desire to voluntarily
go through such a wretched experience.
So, there’s only one reason
why I’m here: to achieve victory against those hundred or so people.
By doing so, I intend to claim the loot they possess.
“Ahhh.”
My light-hearted voice echoed
through the entire clearing. It was slightly louder than I had
intended, but this should be fine.
Joy really is good at magic.
Though she tends to make big mistakes during important moments.
What if my “Ahhh”
hadn’t been carried? I would’ve had to rely solely on my voice.
“Hello♡ You bunch of
perverted trash gathered to bully a single girl♡ Creepy, perverted
losers♡”
The moment I let out a word,
the gazes of those surrounding me focused on me.
Most of their gazes were
filled with shock. Understandably so, given that my words didn’t fit
the current situation.
“Aren’t you embarrassed?♡
Gathering out of fear against one small, cute girl♡ Shouldn’t you
be running away crying for your mommy?♡ Huh?♡ Cowardly
perverts?♡”
However, it didn’t take long
for those shocked faces to twist into anger.
Even Karl, a knight of the
Allen Family, can barely withstand the provocation of the [Mesugaki]
Skill.
How could mere Academy
students, who haven’t even fully matured, withstand it?
I could hear the sound of lips
being bitten and the tightening of grips on weapons.
Curses. Furrowed brows. And
the familiar euphoric power filling my body.
The [Mesugaki] Skill was
performing its role perfectly today as well.
“Pitiful Prince is the same♡
Gathering people because he isn’t confident he can win with his own
party♡ Have you forgotten the word honour?♡ Well, a dummy prince
who even loses to an airhead lady wouldn’t know something like
that, would he?♡”
“Shut up! Lucy Allen! Prince
Arthur gathered us to punish your sins!”
Someone else took the bait,
reacting to my words aimed at disrupting Arthur’s composure.
I don’t know his name, but
given the fervour in his eyes, he seems to be a noble who supports
the royal family. The type that values honour. Such people are easy
to toy with.
“Sins?♡ What did I do
wrong, sloppy trash?♡”
“Everyone knows the evil you
committed during this field trip, and yet you dare to deny it!”
“Aaah~♡ That?♡ Why is
that my fault?♡ Isn’t it because you guys are weak maggots? All
you have to blame is yourselves?♡”
As I spoke, I could see anger
spreading among the crowd.
Normally, the situation should
be controlled by the commander Arthur or the other party leaders, but
even they were flustered by my remarks, failing to keep an eye on
their surroundings.
The fuse was lit, but no one
noticed it. Everything was going exactly as planned.
“Isn’t that right? ♡ If
you weren’t just a bunch of sloppy, trashy, idiot weaklings who
couldn’t do anything against a small girl, there wouldn’t have
been any problem at all, would there? ♡”
“That’s…”
“Aah~♡ You don’t want to
admit you’re trash and a loser? ♡ I’m sorry? ♡ You want to
jerk yourself off after a sneaky win, but I’m ruining it for you? ♡
Then you shouldn’t have been born a worthless loser ♡”
“LUCY!!! I will kill you!”
As soon as I mockingly laughed
after finishing my sentence, one person couldn’t contain their
anger and leaped forward.
I remembered that face. It was
a girl who always picked fights with me after losing badly to me in
the Academy Entrance Exam.
What was her name again? I
think I used to call her something like sloppy lady or trash lady
using my [Mesugaki] Skill.
Anyway, thank you. Thanks to
you, my plan is now complete.
Humans, you see, are mostly
afraid to be the first to start. But once someone steps forward and
takes action, it becomes easy for others to follow.
Just like how people naturally
cross at a red light if someone else goes first.
Look now. As soon as you, an
extra, made the first move, other Academy students started charging
forward too, right?
Arthur is now shouting to
regain control, but it’s meaningless.
He should’ve handled it
before the bomb went off. Trying to stop it after the explosion is
pointless, isn’t it?
“Are you angry?♡ Puhaha♡
Watching you dash around like cockroaches is so disgusting♡
Revolting♡”
Is having more people in a
battle good? As mentioned earlier, in most cases, it is true.
But, if we tweak it slightly,
there are times when it isn’t.
This is one of those times.
When soldiers lose control and
act on their own, rather than following the commander’s orders,
having more people becomes a disastrous burden.
The vanguard is solely focused
on the enemy, ignoring whether their comrades beside them fall or
not.
The rearguard prepares their
attack without caring if the vanguard gets caught in the crossfire.
Those who should be
coordinating from the middle are mingling with the vanguard, dashing
forward.
Even those responsible for
controlling them are blinded by rage.
In this chaos, it hasn’t
been long, yet many have already been incapacitated by their own
allies, not by me.
Do you see now?
They are not a group.
How can you call an
uncoordinated, uncontrollable mob a group?
They are merely individuals
driven by a singular desire to teach me a lesson.
Everything has gone according
to plan thus far.
Since it was clear that they
would form a group to target me, we decided to turn that against
them. I devised the plan, and Grandpa provided advice to complete the
strategy.
The key now is to buy time. To
let the chaos that has just begun escalate to the point where no one
can control it.
And that’s precisely what
I’m best at.
No matter what anyone says,
I’m a tank.
“Dieeeeee!”
The extra, who ignited this
situation, charges at me with her sword faster than anyone else.
Hey, Extra. We’re not exactly
close friends, but we’ve sparred a lot because you’ve always picked
fights with me, right?
As I’ve told you before, you
get too caught up in your emotions. That’s why your movements become
so predictable.
Even without the [Iron Wall]
skill, I know how to parry your sword.
The moment my shield easily
blocked the extra’s sword, I felt the impact significantly lessen.
[Parrying] has activated.
The extra’s sword, which isn’t
difficult to deflect even under normal circumstances, became even
less impactful with the [Parrying] skill activated.
It’s as if the sword never
even touched the shield.
I pushed the shield forward,
approached the extra, and grabbed her by the collar, lifting her up.
She twists and struggles to
resist, but it was impossible for her to escape my grasp. The
difference in strength between the extra and me was just too vast.
I wonder how it feels to
dangle helplessly in the hands of someone smaller than you.
The extra was tossed back to
where she came from without much resistance.
After watching the extra fly
through the air, I clenched and unclenched my hand.
I definitely feel lighter than
usual.
Maybe enraging nearly a
hundred people with the [Mesugaki] Skill is giving me a more
considerable buff than usual.
In this state, I might even be
able to land a solid hit on Karl.
At this rate, I better not use
my mace.
If I swing it carelessly, I
might end up killing someone outright.
If it’s a serious injury,
Phoebe or the professors can treat it, but sending someone straight
to Armadi with one blow? That’s another matter.
I still don’t want to kill
anyone.
So today, I’ll stick to my
shield and bare hands.
As I looked at my hand and
then raised my head, I noticed the people around me hesitating.
It seems they’ve come to their
senses after seeing the extra fly through the air like an airplane.
That’s not good. You all need
to create more chaos.
“What’s wrong, trash?
Afraid to come at me? Then why aren’t you running away?”♡ Oh, did
you just wet yourself?♡ Pfft♡ Such a scaredy-cat♡ Go run back
to mommy and ask for some milk?♡”
Alright, come at me.
I, who am far stronger than
any of you, will entertain you.
Consider it an honour.
You sloppy trash.
