Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    128

I had to take the time to
convince Phoebe why pillaging during the field trip wasn’t a bad
    thing.

Since we are in the same party
and have to act together, I couldn’t force her to do something she
    didn’t agree with, right?

If it were Bisi or Avery,
they’d just yell, “Who cares about your opinion!” but
    Phoebe is different.

I definitely don’t want to be
hated by Phoebe for doing something unnecessary.

    “It’s a necessary evil to
raise the students’ practical abilities, right?”

    ‘Yes, exactly!’

    “You’re so slow-witted,
Sloppy Saint. I’ve been saying that all along, haven’t I?”

    Because the number and
strength of the monsters in the forest are limited, it’s hard to
accumulate the practical experience the Academy wants in a natural
    state.

    So, by causing some conflict
among the students, they want us to gain more real-world experience.

At this moment, it might look
like we’re the bad guys, but if we do nothing, other students might
    suffer instead.

When even Joy joined in to
explain, Phoebe finally nodded in agreement.

    “I’m sorry, Lady Allen.
I was too short-sighted to think that far.”

    ‘It’s okay.’

    “It’s okay. I didn’t
expect anything from you, Sloppy Saint.”

    Phoebe’s eyebrows twitching
at the unnecessary comment tacked on at the end was unavoidable.

    “But Lucy, does that mean
we do nothing for now? Are we going to rest?”

    ‘No…’

    “No. There’s still
    something we need to do.”

    Veterans never waste empty
    time meaninglessly.

I had already planned what to
    do at this moment.

    ‘We…’

    “We’re going to meet the
    master of this forest.”

We had to see them at least
once to clear the quest given by Armadi.

    “The Master of the Forest?
    Why?”

    ‘Because the blessing they
    give is very useful.’

    “Because the blessing that
pervert fox gives is really useful.”

Just as Lucy Allen had led the
team during dungeon raids, she guided the party through this forest
    with the same proficiency.

    Her leadership was as skillful
as that of a hunter who had lived in this forest for decades, so no
one in the party doubted her.

    As they gradually and smoothly
made their way deeper into the forest, Lucy stopped, looked up at the
sky through the leaves, and let her arms fall limply.

    “Shall we take a short
    break?”

    Hearing this, the party
    members blinked in surprise.

    Everyone here had previously
    tackled dungeons with Lucy.

So, they knew how much Lucy
    loved rigorous marches.

It was surprising to hear her
suggest a break when no one had collapsed from exhaustion!

    “You’re not really Lucy.”

    While everyone was too stunned
to enjoy the offer of a break, Frey spoke up.

    “Huh? Sloppy Swordsman, what
    nonsense are you babbling now?”

    “Lucy would never suggest
taking a break. Even if she did, it would only be when someone was
about to collapse as a last resort. She wouldn’t say it so casually
    like now.”

    Joy and Phoebe, who had
experienced exhaustion under Lucy’s command, couldn’t help but
    nod in agreement with Frey.

It was odd for someone who
would carry an exhausted teammate during just to save time to suggest
    rest so easily.

    Lucy sighed deeply, and anyone
could tell from her tone that she was annoyed.

“Fine. If you wish for it,
    I’ll…”

    “Wow! Rest! I love resting!
    Let’s rest quickly!”

    “Actually, I like resting
    too.”

    “Me too. I also like
    resting.”

In a moment of crisis, as
unnecessary trouble loomed, Joy urgently shouted, and Frey and Phoebe
    quickly followed suit.

    Lucy, looking somewhat
dissatisfied, glanced back and forth between the three, but she
    didn’t say anything more.

    “Move aside, you
    amateurs.”

    Instead, she began pulling
various items from her Dimensional Pocket.

    ‘Had she learned the camping
    methods of Allen’s Knight Order?

    Her preparation for rest was
    exceptionally skilled.’

    Watching Lucy create a resting
area by taking out various items from her Dimensional Pocket, Phoebe
    couldn’t help but admire her.

“Just like I felt when we
tackled the dungeon together last time, Lady Allen is truly thorough
    in her preparations.”

    “She’s incredibly
    competent for her age.”

“Is this what it means to
    be loved by Armadi?”

    Since their dungeon raid
together, Phoebe had been constantly thinking about Lucy.

Back then, she had been swept
up by intense emotions she experienced for the first time, unable to
see clearly. But as time passed and her anger subsided, things began
to reveal themselves one by one.

    Typically, those who insult
gods either don’t believe in the existence of gods or believe in
    other gods.

    Since Armadi is the chief
deity of all gods except for the Evil God, unless one worships the
Evil God, no one can insult Armadi.

    So, if someone insults Armadi,
    it is usually the former.

    Without believing in the
existence of Armadi, how could anyone dare to insult the chief of all
    gods?

If the person who insulted the
god had been just an ordinary person, Phoebe might have thought it
unfortunate and let it pass. How could one not pity someone who
denies the existence of a god they know exists and stubbornly
    believes they are right?

    However, Lucy was different.

There was no way she could be
unaware of the existence of gods.

She had heard the voices of
    gods countless times before.

    Finding Ruel’s Mace.

    Exorcising Agra’s Curse twice.

It all happened due to the
    revelations from the gods.

There was no way Lucy could
    deny the existence of Armadi.

    How could someone, knowing the
presence of a great being in the sky, utter words that insult that
    very being?

How could one move their lips
so recklessly when they fear the wrath of an omniscient and
    omnipotent being?

    Phoebe thought the reason was
    this:

‘She was sure that the gods
wouldn’t be angered by such a thing.’

    Phoebe would sometimes tease
Joy under the guise of a sermon.

    She disliked hurting other
people’s feelings, but she could tease Joy comfortably because she
    knew it wouldn’t anger her.

    Phoebe thought Lucy was the
    same.

    Lucy was confident that her
actions wouldn’t shatter Armadi’s magnanimity, which is why she could
    insult the god so boldly.

    ‘How could a mere human
    gauge the generosity of Armadi?

    Could she measure the patience
of a god who rarely interferes with the world?’

    Phoebe knew the answer.
    Because Lucy is Armadi’s Apostle.

    Since the moment Phoebe heard
from the Apostle of the Evil God about Lucy’s true identity until
now, she had repeatedly mulled over many things.

    But the conclusion was always
    the same.

No matter how much she tried
    to deny it,

No matter how much she hoped
    to find other elements,

    It was clear that Lucy
received Armadi’s love and was close to him.

    By now, she was half-accepting
    it.

    So, whenever she had the
chance, Phoebe always observed Lucy’s actions.

    She was curious about what
aspects of Lucy attracted Armadi’s attention.

    Each time, though the actions
were different, Phoebe could summarise them in one word.

    Lucy was competent.

    In studies, she excelled.

    In battle, she was formidable.

    In dungeon strategies, she
always displayed overwhelming prowess and had the ability to command
others reminiscent of a very capable leader.

    Other than her aggressive
speech and behaviour, there was nothing lacking in Lucy Allen.

It wasn’t a question of which
    part made Armadi interested.

    Every part was so exceptional
that it could attract Armadi’s interest.

It was hard to believe that
this person was once called a delinquent.

There’s no way a normal person
could change that much in just one year.

    No matter how talented Lady
Allen was, someone who did nothing for fifteen years couldn’t become
the Continent’s Greatest Talent in just one year.

    Surely, Armadi’s blessing must
have impacted her transformation. Phoebe, having reached this
conclusion, decided to focus not on Lucy’s present but on her past.

If this change began when she
was chosen as Armadi’s Apostle, there must be a reason why she caught
    Armadi’s eye beforehand.

    “Lady Allen wasn’t like
    this before.”

    Joy, who frequently
encountered Lucy in various social gatherings, said that Lucy was a
completely different person in the past. Although her harsh speech
was the same as before, every other aspect was different.

    “Lady Allen in social
    circles was truly terrifying.”

    Listening to stories about
Lucy from when she was like a hedgehog monster, wandering around and
shooting out thorns, Phoebe couldn’t help but be shocked as Joy
    continued to talk.

If Joy was telling the truth,
it was amazing that Lucy still had her head attached, considering
    everything that had happened.

    “If not for the
reputation of Benedict Allen, there would have been a huge issue long
    ago.”

Watching Joy laugh as she said
    this, Phoebe thought deeply.

No matter how much she thought
about it, there was nothing in Lucy’s past that seemed to attract
    Armadi’s interest.

She didn’t have a kind nature,

    She didn’t perform good deeds,

    She didn’t have exceptional
    skills,

    And she wasn’t deeply
    religious either.

No matter which way she looked
at it, there was no reason for Armadi to be interested.

    The only commonality between
past Lucy and present Lucy was just one thing.

    “Sloppy wolf♡ Are you
    going to roll over that easily?♡ Puhuhuhu♡ Sloppy♡ Weakling♡
    Trash♡ Failed male♡”

    Her manner of speaking.

    Regardless of who she was
talking to, she would openly mock them, subtly provoking and inciting
    anger.

    The vulgar tone was so
shocking that it was hard to believe such words could come from a
    noble lady.

    ‘Perhaps.

    Though it was a very
    irreverent thought, perhaps, just maybe.

    Could Armadi possibly like
    such a way of speaking?

    Enjoying the sight of her
mocking and looking down on others as trash?’

    According to what she learned
from the Bible, it was absolutely impossible, but Phoebe had recently
found it hard to believe the words written in the scriptures.

    According to the Bible, the
Apostle of Armadi, who had never existed and could never exist,
appeared before her. Given that, couldn’t other passages in the Bible
    also be wrong?

    ‘So, to gain Armadi’s
    interest, I should say… Sloppy… or… W…weak…

    No, that’s not it.

    This isn’t right.

    There’s no way Armadi would
    like hearing such words.

    Yes.

There must be something else I
    don’t know about.’

    Regaining her composure with
great effort, Phoebe slapped her cheeks hard and let out a long
    breath.

    ‘Now, having such
    blasphemous thoughts…

    I must be really stupid.

    Just like Lady Allen said.’

    At that moment, Phoebe’s ears
caught the sound of rustling from the nearby bushes.

    ‘What is that? It doesn’t
seem like anyone else is moving.’

    Turning her head
unconsciously, Phoebe discovered a white fox peeking out from the
    bushes.
