Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –

    Cecil Soladin.

To sum up this character in
    one word: he’s infuriating.

He uses his status and power
to pressure others until he inevitably fails later, which can be
    quite satisfying.

    Why is that?

    Because his personality is
    rotten.

    Having everything taken away
by the First Prince has made him incredibly possessive, and he also
has a complex about his intelligence since he’s always compared to
    his brilliant younger brother.

On top of that, he has an
extreme military might-makes-right attitude, constantly claiming that
    warriors are superior to scholars.

    He often says things like,
“Fists are closer than the law.”

    He’s the epitome of bullying
the weak while fearing the strong.

If he were an average noble,
it might be excused, but this behaviour is unacceptable for a prince.

    Cecil usually appears as an
obstacle in the personal stories of noble NPCs, and from the moment
you start the personal story of the Third Prince or the First Prince,
    he becomes the main villain.

If you manage to turn him
around in his personal story, he becomes a somewhat decent human
being, but until then, he’s more of a beast than a person.

    Because of his countless
blunders, players nicknamed him Idiot Prince.

In fact, the word Prince was
often dropped entirely. Posting a picture of Cecil with the title
Idiot would consistently receive upvotes on the forums, showing just
    how low his reputation was.

    Personally, I didn’t dislike
    the character that much.

    Despite everything, his combat
    abilities were top-notch.

    Who cares about personality
    and bad behaviour?

    From a player’s perspective,
    performance was everything.

    But things are different now
that the game has become reality.

    In reality, personality
matters more than performance. When he was just a crazy guy beyond
the monitor, I could ignore whatever he did. But now, it’s different.

If this guy starts acting up,
    the consequences will be direct.

    Especially for someone like
me, the problem is more severe.

    Judging from the precedents so
far, the [Mesugaki] Skill will one hundred percent call Cecil Idiot
    Prince.

    What kind of reaction would
    Cecil show upon hearing that?

It wouldn’t be a good one.

    If he were magnanimous enough
to laugh that off, he wouldn’t be called an idiot in the first place!

“I speak to you because I
have taken notice of your talent.”

    What to do.

How can I get out of this
    situation?

    Let’s think while Cecil is
    babbling on in self-praise.

First, I need to avoid opening
    my mouth.

    No matter how carefully I
speak, the [Mesugaki] Skill will definitely end up calling him an
    idiot.

    Based on my experience dealing
    with Arthur, this is certain.

    “Your martial prowess,
descending from the great Allen Family, is unparalleled on this
continent. Additionally, your intellect surpasses that of my brother.
How could I not take notice of such talent?”

    I appreciate the compliment,
but I’d rather not be associated with you in any way.

If you stay by my side, you’d
definitely end up being called an Idiot Prince, and I want to avoid
    such a disaster!

So please don’t ask me to join
    you!

    “Therefore, I urge you.
Do you have any thoughts of serving under me?”

    Aaahhh!

    This is a disaster! I’m
    doomed!

    Maybe he noticed something
strange as my eyes darted around.

    Grandpa spoke up softly.

    Oh, right! Grandpa is here.

    ‘Grandpa. Help. Help!’

    ‘You know my blessing
doesn’t allow me to call people by their names, right?! I think I’m
about to call that prince an idiot! How can I keep my mouth shut and
    get out of this situation?!’

If only Agra were the source
of this mess, I could try to navigate it with my game knowledge, but
right now, I have no idea what to do!

I don’t want to lose my head
    for treason!

    When I urgently asked, Grandpa
responded in a relaxed voice, as if it were someone else’s problem.

It’s not the time for that!

    I’m in big trouble here!

    Answer me!

    Quickly!

    ‘No problem at all!’

I’d actually prefer it if he
hated me. He won’t try to get involved with me unnecessarily.

I’d rather be hated than cause
a disaster by calling him an Idiot Prince!

    ‘Is that okay?’

    Huh? What does he mean?

    He’ll misunderstand my
    intentions?

It was hard to comprehend, but
Grandpa’s advice had never been wrong so far.

I bowed slightly to Cecil, who
had extended his hand, and then turned around.

Would this make it seem like a
    firm rejection?

    “Hey!”

As soon as I took a step,
Cecil reached out from behind, but it wasn’t hard to avoid him.

My [Iron Wall] Skill warned me
of the danger, so all I had to do was evade him.

    Ignoring the shout from
behind, I pushed through the crowd and walked away quickly.

    He won’t follow me, right?

Please, just give up on me!

Do you really need to keep a
troublesome Mesugaki around? You masochistic Prince?!

    “How audacious.”

Cecil clenched his fist as he
stared at his empty hand, having been publicly rejected in front of
    many students.

    He had considered the
possibility of being rejected from the start.

Cecil was well aware of Lucy
    Allen’s temperament.

    A person who had committed
sacrilege, treason and worse in front of his father wouldn’t be one
    to care about his approval.

She moved as if she was the
centre of the universe, not caring about anyone’s opinion.

    She had no intention of
    submitting to anyone.

    Even though he had expected
    this, it still irritated him.

    If an ordinary person had
rejected him like this, Cecil would have raged, yelling, “How dare
someone like you refuse my proposal?”

    But Lucy Allen was different.

    To Cecil, who saw everything
in terms of strength and weakness, Lucy Allen with her extraordinary
talents was someone who deserved respect.

Even if he was humiliated in
front of many, it was worth enduring for someone like her.

    “Holden.”

    Grinding his teeth in
frustration, Cecil left the plaza and called his subordinate’s name
once he reached a place out of others’ sight.

    “Yes, Prince.”

    “What do you think of
    Lucy Allen’s reaction?”

    Holden, known among Cecil’s
subordinates for his exceptional strategic mind, took a moment to
    think before replying.

“I don’t find it all that
    negative.”

    “Why is that? I was
    humiliated in front of everyone.”

    “Because it’s Lucy
    Allen we’re talking about.”

    If an ordinary person had
replaced a refusal with silence, it would show decisiveness.

But Lucy Allen was no ordinary
    person.

    She’s someone who says
whatever she wants, no matter who is in front of her.

    If she truly didn’t like
Cecil’s proposal, she would have spat out harsh words without
    hesitation.

    The fact that she maintained
her silence and showed courtesy meant she had recognized Cecil to
    some degree.

“Just look at how she calls
the Third Prince the Pitiful Prince. She’s not someone who hides
    her complaints.”

    As Holden explained his
    conjecture, Cecil raised one eyebrow.

    “Do you really think Lucy
    Allen considered that?”

“If this were the old Lucy
Allen, who was just a troublemaker, maybe not. But the current Lucy
Allen, who has shown her intelligence, is more than capable of such a
    thing.”

    ‘Indeed. That’s a
    convincing argument.’

    Pleased by his subordinate’s
sweet words, Cecil nodded and urged him to continue.

    “Let’s say you’re right.
Then why did she maintain her silence and leave?”

    “Perhaps she was asking for
time to think. It wasn’t a rejection but more of a postponement.”

    Asking for time to deliberate?

Did she put him on a scale to
    weigh him against others?

Such an arrogant act, but Lucy
Allen certainly has the qualifications to do so.

Her talent is that of a star,
    after all.

    “Very well. Then we’ll
have to wait for a while.”

‘But my patience is not that
    long-lasting.

Lucy Allen. You must make your
    decision quickly.

    Otherwise, this lion will come
    hunting for you as prey.’

    Luckily, Cecil didn’t pursue
    me after that.

    As expected, Grandpa’s the
    best!

    He’s an all-rounder in these
situations! Although, he’d be much better if he didn’t nag me all
    the time!

    After successfully overcoming
the huge crisis, I went to the training ground to find Joy and Frey,
    but only Frey was there.

What? Did Joy sleep in late
    today like I did?

    Finding it strange, I asked
Frey and got the answer that she came here with Arthur and then
    headed somewhere else.

    “They said they were going
    to review the exam papers.”

    Exam papers?

    The exam grades are already
out, so why would they need to review them?

    Is there something odd about
    it?

    There could be.

    Joy placed second in the
    academy exam.

    The Airhead Lady I know
regularly made ridiculous mistakes, usually placing ninth or tenth.

    She’s not someone meticulous
    enough to rank second.

    Arthur probably took her with
him because he had a similar thought to mine.

    I’ve been curious about how
Joy got second place, so this worked out well.

    Intrigued, I bid farewell to
Frey and started looking for them.

After asking a few people, it
took me about ten minutes to find them.

    “I can’t believe you
scored higher than me with this kind of test!”

    I could hear Arthur’s
    shocked voice.

    “You messed this up! And
that! This calculation itself is all wrong!”

    “Oh. That’s right?”

    “It’s not just ‘that’s
    right,’ Airhead Lady!”

“So what? I won in total
    score.”

    “Ugh. Ughhh!”

    Why is Arthur getting so
    worked up?

    Curious about his reaction, I
approached, and Joy unexpectedly greeted me with a bright smile.

“Lady Allen. Did you see? I
placed second in the academy exam.”

    ‘I saw. It was surprising,
    indeed.’

    “Yes, I saw. That Airhead
Lady got second place. How sloppy must the people below her be?”

It was Arthur, not Joy, who
reacted to the Mesugaki translation’s remark.

    His face flushed as he
clenched his teeth, openly showing his anger.

    ‘Arthur. Why are you so
    upset?’

    “Pitiful Prince, are you
feeling inferior? I guess it makes sense since you lost to the
    Airhead Lady. Haha. Sloppy~ Pathetic~”

    “Silence, Lucy Allen! I
cannot accept this defeat! This airhead did so many airheaded things,
yet I have to lose to her?!”

    Huh? What’s this?

Did Airhead Lady not do as
many airheaded things to get second place?

    No, this is strange.

    Airhead Lady acted airheadly,
so how did she get second?

As I tilted my head in
confusion, watching Arthur shout, Joy spoke up with a smile.

    “It’s all thanks to Lady
    Allen.”

    Because of me?

    Why?

Could you please explain it in
    a way I can understand?
