Mesugaki Tank Enters the Academy –
    107

As I fought off the numerous
undead spirits rushing at me, I could vividly feel how strong I had
    become.

The curses they used to try to
hold me back were meaningless, and even if they had any small effect,
they instantly vanished before the power of divine magic.

They then tried to attack me
directly, but none of them could inflict a wound on me.

    The movements of these undead
spirits, who hadn’t specialised in combat, were too sloppy.

Why should I fear attacks that
couldn’t even scratch the shield made by the Dwarves?

    After dealing with another
room full of spirits, I took a deep breath and unconsciously shook
    off my mace.

What filled my heart after the
battle was a peculiar sense of euphoria.

    It was something
indescribable, different from the buff effect of the [Mesugaki]
    Skill.

So far, the reason I had
strived to become stronger was purely for survival.

    I thought I would die if I
couldn’t pass the Academy entrance exam.

    After passing the exam, I
desperately trained because I believed that if I didn’t get stronger,
I could fall victim to Agra’s antics at any moment.

    However, despite all my
efforts and the strength I gained, I rarely had a chance to feel a
sense of achievement because my adversaries were usually much
    stronger than me.

Just when I felt a bit of
pride, they made sure to shove my face into the dirt.

I’m not some mole from a
    whack-a-mole game.

Just when I thought I might
have gotten stronger, they’d crush my head again.

Purely in terms of stats, I
know I’m quite strong right now, but constantly getting smashed and
broken only reinforced my feeling of weakness.

    However, coming into this
dungeon and smashing the heads of these spirits with my mace allowed
me to finally feel my strength properly.

    Even though the situation was
highly favourable for me, this dungeon only appears when you reach
the second year of the Academy. In contrast, I am just a first-year
student taking the midterm exams at the Academy.

Had I moved normally, I would
have been shattered by those knights the moment I stepped into this
    place.

    But, those knights couldn’t
    lay a scratch on me.

    It wasn’t just the knights.

No one in this mansion could
inflict any real damage on me.

I was strong enough as I am
    now.

    The misfortune the world
throws at me might be worse, but still.

Oh… then does it all mean
    nothing?

As I let my mind wander with
these thoughts, I stepped out of the room and saw that the mansion’s
    scenery had changed dramatically.

    The changes that started from
the mansion hallway were gradually spreading to the rooms I was
    clearing.

    Decorations were shattered,
    broken, or torn apart.

    Blood was splattered on the
    floor and walls.

    Wind whistled in through the
broken windows, causing the chandeliers to sway.

    Leaving behind the eerie
noises filling the mansion, I opened the door to yet another intact
    room.

It’s starting to feel like I’m
a demolition contractor hired to wreck this mansion.

    Even though I haven’t touched
    any of the objects.

    I continued to move upward.

    I wrecked the dining room
where the family likely used to enjoy harmonious meals.

    I struck down the noblewoman
who lingered in a room full of numerous clothes and jewels.

And I defeated the butler who
blocked my way to the top floor.

I turned the former head of
this family, who guarded the office, into ashes.

    Accordingly, the mansion was
    changing more and more disastrously.

    The mansion, which had been
prepared to welcome guests, was turning into a ruin because of an
    intruder like me.

    The destination I finally
reached was a room on the top floor.

The last intact place in the
mansion, where everything else had been half-destroyed.

    Adri’s bedroom.

    When I abruptly opened the
door, Adri, who had greeted me when I first arrived at the mansion,
was sitting on the bed with her legs crossed, waiting for me.

    “Who are you?”

The first thing that came out
of her mouth, with her chin resting in her hand, was a question.

    “Why does the mansion
collapse wherever you go? How can you interfere in this mansion that
    should be under my control?”

    “I’m an apostle of the
    great sloppy Armadi♡.”

I let out the magical words to
Adri, who asked coldly and indifferently.

Is there a problem when an
apostle of a god performs a miracle?

If you have an issue, why
don’t you pray and ask Armadi directly?

    Not that he’d likely answer
since he’s lazy and hardly ever responds to me either.

As Adri furrowed her brows, I
    spoke up again.

    “Who are you really? How
    are you doing this?”

    “Who knows♡.”

How many times do you think
    I’ve attacked this mansion?

You might not know, Adri, but
I’ve defeated you over hundreds of times.

    I’ve even beaten you
    bare-handed without any equipment.

    Do you think there’s
anything about this mansion that I wouldn’t know? I answered with a
smile, but unfortunately, my response was not what Adri wanted to
    hear.

She frowned and slowly got up
    from her seat.

    “Fine. If you don’t
intend to answer, I’ll just have to force that mouth open.”

As she raised her hand, my
body floated in the air and was then thrown out of the room.

I had no time to regain my
balance. As soon as I hit the ground, the corridor tilted and I
rolled down like a ball, sliding down to the front entrance as if on
    a slide.

    Wincing from the impact, I
stood up again and saw Adri at the top of the mansion stairs.

    “I will punish this
audacious intruder trying to steal my mansion.”

As soon as she spoke, every
door in the mansion flew open, and countless objects came barreling
    out.

    Starting with cute things like
mops, trays, and feather dusters, to a curse spellbook, a sword
enchanted with an ominous aura, and even a staff summoning undead
    spirits.

    Watching this Poltergeist
Phenomenon straight out of a ghost story, I couldn’t help but laugh.

This is the first phase of the
    battle against Adri.

I have to make my way through
the barrage of countless items and reach the top floor to deal damage
    to Adri.

    The first time I encountered
    this pattern, it was terrifying.

The moment I let my guard
down, I’d be hit and stunned by one of the objects, then caught in a
chain reaction and disintegrated in an instant.

Well, that was a story of the
past. Now, this isn’t even a warm-up for me. The objects summoned by
Adri attack with a certain pattern.

For example, a mop might first
strike your head to stun you, then a sword would stab your leg,
followed by a book shooting a curse right where you stand.

    It’s coding designed to
frustrate the player, but once you memorise the pattern, it becomes a
    different story.

No matter what attack comes at
you, you’ll see where to dodge.

    “What?”

As I dodged the initial attack
and pushed forward, admiring whispers escaped from both sides.

    They wouldn’t know that it
    wasn’t just blind reaction.

It’s simply natural for me to
avoid everything because I know exactly which attacks are coming and
    how to move.

    “Damn it! Why aren’t you
    getting hit?!”

    Adri seemed frustrated with my
evasive manoeuvres, but what could she do about it?

    After all, she’s dealing with
    me.

    “You’re aiming these
pathetic attacks at me?♡ Seriously?♡ Are you kidding?♡”

    “Shut up!”

    “If it’s annoying, make me
shut up♡ Oh♡ Is it because you’re a sloppy, lonely ghost who
    can’t do it?♡”

I climbed the stairs to the
    second floor.

    Then, I ascended the railing
    to the third floor.

    Without a scratch, I arrived
in front of Adri. Seeing me, Adri hurriedly gathered objects around
herself, a pattern I was all too familiar with from the game.

I knew exactly how to dodge
    them.

    While effortlessly brushing
off countless attacks, I rushed at Adri and slammed the mace filled
with divine energy into her pale ghostly face.

    “Ugh!”

    It must have hurt.

The skill level I’d built up
with the mace, driven by the desire to one day crush Nacrad’s head,
    was no joke.

    Adri tried desperately to
shake me off despite the pain, but it was impossible for her.

    Even though she was the
dungeon boss, she was still a Mage.

No way she could have better
physical strength than a Paladin who’s trained their physical
    abilities to the extreme.

I kept hitting her, again and
    again.

If Adri weren’t a ghost, her
facial bones would have been smashed to pieces long ago. After
delivering a flurry of hits, a shockwave emanated from her.

    Although I expected it and
tried to brace myself by planting my feet firmly, it was impossible
    to resist.

    There must have been some
suppressive force, as my feet were naturally lifted off the ground.

I fell from the fourth floor
to the first-floor ground, rolled to break my fall, and stood up
    again, looking upwards.

    “Damn you!”

    Adri, staggered by my blows,
got up unsteadily and, with a voice full of rage, waved her hands.

    Then, throughout the mansion,
undead spirits identical to Adri appeared, and the objects that had
fallen to the ground floated into the air once more.

    “I’ll kill you.”

    Adri’s voice echoed from
    countless duplicates around the mansion.

In the game, I always thought
this was disgusting, but seeing it in reality was even worse.

    It reminded me of nightmares
    from the past.

    Not knowing how to distinguish
the real from the fakes, I tried to take them all down haphazardly
and ended up being killed by the floating objects.

How many attempts did it take
to finally beat her back then?

I recall it taking at least a
few hours. Of course, now I know how to distinguish between the real
    and fake ones.

    Effortlessly blocking a sword
aimed at me, I scanned my surroundings.

    Lucky me.

    Starting from the first floor.

As I identified the real Adri
and ran towards her, Adri panicked and tried to retreat, but it was
    already too late.

    You knew from the beginning
that you couldn’t get rid of me, right?

    Just give up quietly, Adri.

    The moment my mace slammed
into Adri’s head, the mansion, once filled with undead spirits,
    instantly emptied.

But it didn’t take long before
    Adri’s duplicates appeared again.

    ““Can you find me this
    time?””

    “Do you think I won’t?♡
    Really?♡”

    ““Stop bluffing.””

    “Behind the painting in
the Second Floor Reception Room, right?♡ Huh?♡ Deny it♡”

    Sorry, but your fate was
already sealed the moment your first location was exposed.

    I remember where you respawn
    each time.

As long as you’re one of the
    monsters of Soul Academy.

    And unless you’re strong
enough to overpower me right now.

    No matter how much you
struggle, you can’t escape from my grasp. So, will you quietly give
    up now?

    Otherwise, I’ll have to take
the exam without even a moment’s rest.
