Unsuited

My hand unconsciously reached out to the lovely fight of the two children, who were eagerly pushing each other to take up more space in my arms. As I gently stroked their heads, the children immediately stopped fighting, smiled brightly, and looked up at me. Their sparkling blue eyes held nothing but the happiness of young children.

“Daddy, did you buy something yummy?”

    “Me too! Me too, cake!”

As I naturally took out a packaged cake from the space warehouse, the children snatched the cake from my hands as if they had been waiting for it, and quickly took their places on the sofa. I was dumbfounded, wondering if the cake was their only purpose, when I heard the sound of someone coming down the stairs again.

The person who came down the stairs, turned, and met my eyes was… Luna. Completely mature and grown up. As if several years had passed since my last memory, Luna playfully raised her eyebrows and smiled, then nonchalantly passed me and placed her hands on her hips.

“Roy, Rosie. I told you not to eat snacks before dinner!”

She spoke in a strict voice, as if imitating Professor Leora, but the children weren’t scared of Luna at all.

    “Ehh…! Cake is more delicious!”

    “Daddy cooks better than Mommy!”

Luna, who had snatched the cake from the children who were stuffing it into their mouths as much as possible while smearing cake on their hands, sighed and soon turned to me, narrowing her eyes. It seemed like the sparks were going to fly my way.

“Ross! If you keep buying them cake just because they want it, they’ll develop bad habits! They’ll keep trying to eat only cake and not eat their meals!”

    “…Uh, sorry.”

As I scratched my head and apologized, Luna sighed and spoke to the children, who were sucking on the cake stuck to their fingers.

“That’s enough! Go wash your hands, now!”

    Tudada-da-!

It seemed like washing their hands was also a competition, as the two children ran to the bathroom as if racing. They say there are hardly any siblings who get along well when they’re young, and it seems that’s true.

Luna, who had put the cake back in the box, placed it on the table with a slightly tired face, then turned and leaned against me as if it were natural. It’s warm. And fragrant. Luna hugged me tightly, as if complaining, without any of the anxiety, fear, or terror that she had in the carriage.

“It was hard without Ross by my side. I need a full recharge.”

She was skilled at overlapping her lips with mine so naturally. She even fumbled around, groping my butt with both hands, making a strange *hihit* sound, and swallowing her saliva, which unconsciously made my shoulders tense.

Luna, who was diligently touching my butt, seemingly planning to finish her “recharge” before the children came, soon pulled away and smiled brightly.

“I’ll prepare a delicious meal soon. Play with the kids for a bit. And don’t feed them any more cake!”

At Luna’s firm warning, I sniffed and nodded. As I turned around at the familiar *dudada-da* footsteps, the two children looked at me with water dripping from their hands. Did they want me to wipe their hands? When I took out a towel from the drawer next to me and wiped their hands, the two children clung to my legs like cicadas, as if they had been waiting for it.

    “To the sofa!”

At the children’s command, I staggered towards the sofa. When we arrived at the sofa, the two children stepped on my insteps and threw themselves onto the sofa, as if they weren’t allowed to touch the floor. And then, they started wrestling each other, trying to push each other off the sofa. I felt like I shouldn’t interfere, so I sat on the empty single sofa next to them.

    “Roy, grabbing hair is cheating!”

    “Rosie grabbed first!”

“I’m a girl! My hair is longer! That’s unfair!”

Haa… As I pressed my temples and watched them quietly, the two people who had suddenly stopped wrestling whispered something to each other and turned to me, their eyes shining. The children, who had stubbornly squeezed themselves into the single sofa, grabbed my arms and whispered softly, so that Luna in the kitchen wouldn’t notice.

“Daddy… drop us on the sofa.”

    “Me too, me too….”

I felt like I knew what the children wanted. I glanced at the kitchen and nodded. The children were about to cheer, but quickly covered their mouths with their hands. I burst out laughing at their lovely appearance, and I used space magic as the children wanted, to help them safely fall from the ceiling onto the sofa.

    Kung-! Kung-!

I dropped them on the sofa from a moderate height for safety, but the children laughed, saying that was good too, and threw themselves towards the dimensional entrance again. As I was repeating the process of dropping them onto the sofa several times, I suddenly felt a chill down my spine.

    “…Ross, what are you doing?”

The children who were running over, and I, who was about to put my hands under their armpits and throw them into the dimensional entrance, froze at that voice.

“Roy, Rosie. Go up to your room for a bit.”

At Luna’s words, Roy and Rosie didn’t even make eye contact with me and quietly went up the stairs, holding hands. I was trying to subtly get rid of the space magic, but when Luna shook her head, I withdrew my hand and avoided her gaze.

“…Ross, make a passage in front of me.”

When I adjusted the location of the dimensional exit and created a dimensional passage in front of Luna, a hand soon came over and lightly flicked my head.

“It’s dangerous if the kids get hurt, I’ve warned you several times not to use space magic at home! And you’re dropping the kids onto the sofa?”

“…I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I was wrong.”

“A good dad isn’t someone who just gives them everything they want! You have to be strict when you need to be! What if they suddenly jump out the window when we’re not looking, because they’re trying to copy you!”

“…I will never do that again!”

Luna headed back to the kitchen, but continued to scold me using space magic. After being scolded from a distance for a long time, I realized that it wouldn’t end if I left it like this, so I subtly moved behind Luna and hugged her waist from behind. Luna, who had been grumbling, pouted her lips, but when I kept kissing her on the cheek, she smiled prettily, as if her anger had subsided.

“Will Roy and Rosie become a little calmer if they get a younger sibling?”

I thought for a moment at Luna’s question.

    “…Is that related?”

“Wouldn’t they want to be good older brothers and sisters?”

I smiled at her sly, suggestive wink.

“…Now that I hear it, it seems like that might be the case. Luna-nim is smart as always.”

Luna looked so pretty with her apron on and her hair tied up. Just as I was about to subtly grab her hand and create a suggestive atmosphere, I realized that the familiar footsteps were coming from the stairs again, and I hurriedly pulled away.

“Mommy! Lucy hit my head! Here, here, I think I have a bump! Hurry, make it better!”

“You tattletale! You promised to get hit if you lost the bet!”

    “You tricked me!”

“Daddy said the person who gets tricked is stupid! You’re a stupid tattletale now!”

Luna and I exchanged glances as we watched the children bickering between us. Let’s put the kids to sleep first. Putting these lovely troublemakers to sleep was the priority if we wanted to have another child.

“Alright, let’s not bother Mommy and play with Daddy.”

As I said that and picked up the two children, I sighed as they grabbed my hair as if it were natural, and headed up the stairs to the second floor. I had to wear them out first so they would be full and fall asleep quickly.

“Bed! Drop me on the bed!”

“Me, the sofa on the first floor!”

Ellie, who had come out of the study full of all sorts of magic books, smiled faintly at the sight of Roel diligently patting the baby’s back and gently shaking his body up and down.

    “Roel Oppa.”

    “Yeah, are you done studying?”

Roel looked very good wearing an apron and putting the baby to sleep. Ellie smiled as she stared at him for a moment, as if capturing the scene in her memory.

“Yeah, and I’m going out for a bit.”

“…You’re going out? I’ve already prepared dinner, the potato stew is super delicious today. Why don’t you just eat this and we can all take a walk together for the first time in a while?”

“No, it’ll be quick. Let’s do that when I get back.”

At Ellie’s words, Roel nodded, saying he understood, and gently stroked the sleeping baby’s back.

“Okay, then our Roelly will stay with Daddy~”

Ellie, who had been looking at him with affection, smiled bitterly and turned to leave the house. As the house got farther away, she felt the comfort and cozy warmth slowly leaving her body. Her heart was full of regret, but Ellie didn’t stop walking and headed to the promised whale fountain.

Ellie wasn’t the only one who had left the house, which was a sweet ending called paradise. Raelran, who was squinting with his eyes turned away from the fountain with the beautifully dancing whale, met Ellie’s eyes. They both smiled bitterly at the same time. As if they knew this would happen.

“The two people who don’t suit paradise showed up at the meeting place first.”

At Raelran’s voice, which contained a faint smile, Ellie asked quietly.

    “What was in your house?”

Raelran shook his head from side to side and stretched his lips into a long smile.

    “Roel’s corpse.”

“…I thought so. Then, was Ross not there?”

Raelran answered immediately to Ellie’s probing question.

“Of course not. He’s our liege, isn’t he?”

Raelran scratched his chin and said.

“No, rather, even if there was a corpse… that would have been somewhat fortunate.”

Ellie, who had frowned at those words, glared at Raelran and gritted her teeth.

    “…You’re a really bad person.”

“Are you sure you’re not worse?”

Ellie, who had been glaring at Raelran, who was giving off a crazy smile, looked at the fountain behind Raelran and opened her mouth.

    “…Won’t Ross come?”

At Ellie’s question, Raelran silently pointed behind Ellie with his chin. Ellie, who turned around, slightly opened her mouth at the sight of Ross approaching with a much more relaxed face.

    “No way.”

Ellie nodded without realizing it at Raelran’s belated answer.

It wasn’t just the two of them who didn’t suit paradise.
