Each Person’s Role

There was nothing quite as good a topic of conversation as the downfall of someone in a high position. Thinking about how a top star getting caught up in drunk driving, affairs, or assault cases would dominate the news for days and become a topic of conversation, perhaps everyone was hiding a talent for being a gossip.

Not that I’m a top star or in a high position to look down on someone. But thanks to maintaining an arrogant and haughty attitude during the triathlon and attracting a lot of attention, my downfall will certainly be a good conversation topic for many people.

,Ah, the birth of the youngest Transcender! As befits the reputation of the triathlon, a genius has appeared and saves the Transcenders team in crisis!

,The game ends like this. Wait, how does the score calculation work in this case?

The caster answered the commentator’s question in a loud voice.

,Just now! The score calculation is over.

The caster added with a fuss.

,Thanks to Roel-ssi’s performance of catching the Kraken in one blow, Transcenders has 620 points… Wait, wait, if this happens…?!

Calvin, who had maintained his composure throughout the triathlon, reacted strongly to Ayen’s words.

,All the other academies also have 620 points! Joint…! It’s a joint victory! All four academies are tied with 620 points!!!

The stadium was boiling like crazy. Cheers and shouts, curses and cries. All sorts of noises confused the ears. Participants from other academies were hugging each other and shedding tears of emotion. The farce created by the Emperor has ended today.

It’s a different ending from the original novel. I deliberately changed the ending of Roel’s second triathlon, where Roel crushes Eunice’s plan with overwhelming force and wins.

The other academy participants, who were defeated even after cowardly uniting, fall into despair and either get seduced by the cult or become followers of the Demon King in pursuit of power. It was the result of 30 years of resentment not disappearing.

Eunice, whom I was interested in, was actually a villain who became a strategist for the cult after feeling despair at the results of this triathlon. As befitting the evaluation of being a strategist who reads the situation, she put Roel in danger several times.

For me, this was the only way to eliminate the 30 years of resentment and create an ending where Roel receives love and recognition from everyone. Like Lacar’s sister, Lamine, not falling into despair due to Lacar’s survival and not becoming Confession’s No. 3 as planned. No one felt despair at this joint victory. Eunice will now live a different life, not as a villain.

There may be better ways, but I have no excuse other than that this is the best I can do. It’s better and more efficient to hurt yourself than to hurt others.

I’m not afraid of being pointed at or cursed at by others. Even if 30 years of resentment is directed at me, I can endure it without excuses. Because I have someone worth enduring that pain for.

,Ah, it’s a really thrilling game! It’s a game that will remain in the history of the triathlon as the best ever!

Everyone rushed to Roel, who had returned to the stadium. Seeing Edward shedding tears of emotion and the seniors shouting that they believed in him, I quietly slipped away.

The stadium was filled with spectators constantly shouting Roel’s name. There had never been a case where an academy student became a Transcender. Everyone in the stadium witnessed the birth of a new hero. Roel’s name will spread to every corner of the continent, and many people will remember that name.

    -Roel! Roel! Roel!

Unlike Roel, I was the one who put others down and ignored them with an arrogant attitude. I even put the team in danger with the wrong choice. If it weren’t for Roel’s performance, we wouldn’t have even achieved a joint victory. As if they had the right to curse at me, the audience’s mockery and curses poured out towards me.

“You trash bastard! Don’t ever participate in the triathlon again!”

“If it wasn’t for you, we would have just won! You fucking idiot!”

“Drop out, you son of a bitch! If I run into you on the street, you’re fucking dead!”

As I was heading to the waiting room, a spectator sitting in the VIP seat near the stadium roughly pushed past the security guard and approached me. A familiar face, it was my mother.

    Splat-!

Before I could even greet her, my head turned. A tingling pain was felt on my cheek belatedly. As I turned my head back to its original position, her hand flew at me again.

    Splat-!

I didn’t resist. In fact, there was nothing to feel wronged about. I was prepared that I was the only one who should be cursed and fall here.

    “You, you…!!!”

My eyes met my mother’s. It wasn’t the affectionate gaze of a mother looking at her child, but a gaze full of deep animosity and anger as if looking at an enemy. I stared at her silently without saying anything.

“I clearly warned you! Don’t even think about blocking Roel’s path!!! Why, why are you like that…!!!”

    Splat-!

This time, my lip burst. My mother’s hand was spicy. I bit my lip, afraid that I might ask if I had done something so wrong, seeing her even shedding tears. A bitter smell of blood was felt in my breath.

The security guards quickly approached and grabbed my mother. Even as she was being dragged away with her arms held, my mother poured out resentful words towards me.

“You should have never been born! I shouldn’t have given birth to you!!!”

I wasn’t shocked by those words. I had already heard them before. Bursting an old scar doesn’t make tears flow. As I started walking again, something flew over my head. It was a cup filled with a drink.

    “Don’t throw things inside!”

The security guard shouted urgently. But as if someone’s actions had inspired courage, the spectators, burning with a sense of justice, threw all sorts of things at me.

    “Get lost! You trash bastard!”

“You even use artifacts like a retard!”

“Apologize! Kneel down and apologize to everyone!”

    “Apologize and get lost!!!”

A sticky drink flowed down my head. I felt like my underwear was wet, which made me feel uncomfortable. I wiped my face once. Someone ran towards me in front of me, after wiping away the flowing drink.

I thought it was my father’s turn after my mother, but I could see the shape of a familiar face with my eyes narrowed due to the drink.

    “Los.”

In the rain created by the spectators’ sense of justice, with popcorn and drinks pouring down, I felt a strange feeling as if one corner of my heart was melting at the sight of Luna calling me with her usual pretty smile.

Luna, who was as dirty as I was with drinks and popcorn, looked straight at me as if she didn’t care about the surrounding noise at all, and said.

    “You’ve worked hard.”

I never wanted comfort. But at the sudden comfort, my eyes turned red, perhaps because of the drink flowing down my head.

    “…Thank you.”

At my sincere answer, Luna turned her head with a smile. Following her gaze, I saw the members holding onto the security guard.

As I waved my hand as if to say it was okay, the security guard nodded, thinking that it was more important to stop the angry spectators, and raised his hand high as if to say he wouldn’t resist. The freed members ran through the rain of popcorn and drinks as if it were nothing.

I didn’t explain anything, but everyone seemed to not care even after seeing my appearance at the triathlon. I wanted to ask if it was because of their trust in me, or if they didn’t care even if I was arrogant and haughty.

    “Oh, it’s caramel popcorn!”

I couldn’t help but burst out laughing at the sight of Aria taking the popcorn off my head like a monkey and putting it in her mouth.

“It’s dirty. I’ll buy you something more delicious, so bear with it.”

    “Hehe. Then I’m happy!”

Kane, who had tied her long hair wet with the drink into one, grumbled and approached Aria, who was smiling brightly.

“Some bastard’s shake went into my panties!”

I couldn’t help but laugh again at the sight of Kane clutching her pants. Strangely enough, the curses towards me no longer entered my ears. Even though the spectators’ curses were clearly continuing endlessly.

Lacar, who had brought a large parasol from somewhere, used it like an umbrella and covered our heads. The sound of popcorn and drinks hitting the parasol was loud.

    “President, you’ve worked hard.”

It was a short word, but I felt a strange tingling in my nose at Lacar’s eyes full of trust.

    “Yeah, thanks.”

    Under the parasol.

The members covered in drinks and popcorn look at me. Looking at them one by one, I couldn’t help but smile, thinking that my choice was not wrong.

    I said forcefully.

    “Let’s go back.”

The members nodded with a smile.

Leaving behind the noisy stadium filled with the cries of the academy students who won for the first time in 31 years, the sounds of praising Roel who showed an amazing performance, and the sounds of cursing at me who had fallen, the place we returned to was the club room, the only space in the academy where I felt comfortable.
