Protagonist in a Fairy Tale

After receiving treatment from Rotten. Luna worked hard on her rehabilitation exercises every day. After class. She would walk around the academy campus, or repeatedly stretch out her stiff left arm and extend her fingers.

You might ask if that’s all there is to her rehabilitation, but even that was difficult enough to soak Luna’s bangs with sweat.

Just because she received treatment didn’t mean she could move her limbs freely right away, but Luna felt that moving was more comfortable than before.

To others, she looked no different from before, but Luna felt a freedom as if she had removed the shackles she had been wearing for a long time.

Luna, who kept thinking about how to express her gratitude to Ross, who knelt down without hesitation for her treatment, remembered gifting him handmade cookies from a book and decided to make the cookies herself in the club room during the weekend.

It was her first time cooking for someone, so she was very clumsy and failed a lot. Moreover, making cookies was a bit too much to do with one hand.

Aria, who was rolling around on the bed in the club room, waiting for the cookies to be finished, couldn’t stand the wait any longer and helped Luna make the cookies.

,But who are you making cookies for?”

At Aria’s question, Luna mumbled with embarrassment, answering as if making an excuse.

    ,Just… someone I’m grateful to….”

Only the well-baked ones were beautifully packaged separately as a gift for Ross, and the ugly or broken ones all went into Aria’s mouth.

Baking cookies for Ross and making cookies with Aria were enjoyable experiences and precious memories for Luna.

Luna went to the combat department dormitory with the cookies to meet Ross, but Ross had not returned to the academy even though dinner time was ending.

Sitting on a bench in front of the dormitory, holding the packaged cookies in her left hand. Luna, who was waiting for Ross, became increasingly worried as time passed.

Ross had already been scolded by Professor Leora for being late for the academy’s return time once, so she was worried that he would be late again.

As Luna paced back and forth anxiously for a while, she saw Ross walking towards the dormitory in the distance. The distance was far, so she couldn’t distinguish his features, but Luna was sure it was Ross.

Her anxious heart disappeared, and imagining Ross being happy to receive the cookies made her feel embarrassed for no reason.

Luna mumbled and hid the cookies behind her back, watching Ross approach.

As Luna watched Ross approaching her little by little, her heart suddenly sank.

Ross’s aura, which always had a warm spark in one corner of her heart, had changed so much that she wondered if it was a different person.

A lonely and ruthless feeling. An aura that seemed to freeze everything around him. Even Ross himself.

Dry, chapped lips and a cold expression. The blue eyes that used to send warm gazes were deeply sunken like an abyss.

    ,Ro… ss.”

Luna called out Ross’s name with difficulty as he approached her, but he tried to pass by Luna as if he hadn’t heard her.

Feeling uneasy that she might lose the Ross she remembered if she let him pass by like this, Luna dropped the cookies she had been holding in her left hand on the ground and blocked Ross’s path with her arms outstretched.

When his footsteps stopped, Ross finally seemed to come to his senses and looked at Luna with a dazed look as if he had just woken up.

    ,Luna.”

Luna’s eyes welled up with tears at the deep anger and murderous intent in Ross’s voice calling her name, and she bit her lip tightly, worried about Ross.

Intuitively, Luna realized that Ross was in a very dangerous situation. It was as if he was being forced to the edge of a cliff and forced to jump to the other side.

Seeing Ross on the verge of crossing that dangerous line, Luna struggled to reach out her left hand and hugged Ross tightly around the waist.

    ,Ross… no.”

Luna said in a trembling voice, worried that Ross would fall off the cliff like this.

Hugging Ross around the waist, she lifted her head and met his gaze. Luna was reminded of her first meeting with Ross in his eyes full of gloom.

She wanted to comfort him and reach out to him, but in the end, she regretted not reaching out her hand because of her personality.

Luna could instinctively feel that a second chance had come to her.

    ,Luna, we now….”

    ,Ross.”

For the first time, Luna interrupted Ross. Ross, who was about to say something, stopped speaking and met her gaze with sorrowful eyes.

Ross had always looked at her with warm eyes and a faint smile, but the blue eyes that were looking at her now contained only hatred and anger.

Even while holding Ross, Luna felt uneasy that he would disappear somewhere like this. So she hugged him even tighter, giving more strength to her arms so he couldn’t run away.

She couldn’t reach out to him at their first meeting, but she wanted to comfort Ross and warmly hug him to convey her warmth.

But she didn’t know what to say to Ross, who was looking at her. Her mind went blank and her voice only lingered in her mouth, unable to come out.

She resented herself so much that her voice wouldn’t come out of her mouth at all.

She wanted to sincerely thank Ross. More than fixing her uncomfortable body, she wanted to thank him for finding her alone in the dormitory and taking her to the ball. For holding her uncomfortable left hand without hesitation and watching the fireworks that beautifully lit up the night sky on the academy rooftop.

Those memories were so precious and heart-fluttering. The memories with Ross were so vivid that she even felt like she had become the protagonist of a romance novel, and the emotions she felt that day remained vivid.

Therefore, Luna wanted to express her gratitude sincerely. She wanted to let him know that she was grateful and happy for everything, from kneeling down for her, who was nothing special, to reaching out his hand and asking her to trust him.

But Luna didn’t have enough time to say all those words. Ross was in such a precarious state that the remaining spark seemed to be extinguished and disappear into smoke at any moment.

All the moments she spent with Ross were so beautiful and sweet, so Luna was afraid that Ross, who had come to her like a miracle, would disappear as if it were a dream.

Looking into Ross’s cold eyes. Luna drew out the courage that had been dormant in her from the bottom of her heart.

    ,Ross.”

Luna’s voice was filled with deep emotion. But Ross still just looked at Luna without saying a word.

    ,I like you.”

Ross’s blue eyes wavered for a moment.

Luna saw a small spark revealing itself behind those eyes.

However, the spark looked dangerous as if it would be extinguished again by the coldness before long.

It was as if he was deliberately trying to extinguish the spark in his heart, like someone who was rejecting warmth.

    ,Luna, I….”

Ross, who had been silently looking at Luna, opened his mouth with a cracked voice.

At that sight, Luna let out a hot breath. She released her hands that had been holding Ross’s waist and struggled to stretch out her stiff left arm.

It was an ugly hand that was always strained too much, with her fingers twisted in strange shapes. A hand that trembled visibly when she stretched it out.

It was a hand that she was ashamed to show Ross and that she resented. But Luna deliberately raised her left hand.

Luna’s left hand was slow and trembled like it was swaying in the wind, but it eventually touched Ross’s cheek.

At that action, Ross froze like a frozen person and had no choice but to stop speaking and stare at Luna with a dumbfounded look.

Luna said with a bright smile full of sincerity, as if illuminating the dark night, in a voice filled with tears.

    ,Trust me this time. Ross.”

    Luna stood on tiptoe.

Hot breaths mingled in the night air.

    Luna’s lips met Ross’s lips.

With a single action rather than countless words, Luna conveyed her sincerity to Ross.

It was concise, but it was an act that conveyed more clearly than any words.

Their touching lips parted. Luna’s face, as well as her ears, had turned bright red, but she realized that Ross’s spark had grown stronger and endured her embarrassment, not avoiding Ross’s gaze that was staring intently at her.

Right now, Luna was more concerned about Ross than being embarrassed about how she looked.

Therefore, she could muster up the courage to look straight into Ross’s blue eyes and speak her true feelings.

,If our story is a novel, it will definitely have a happy ending…. It has to be.”

Just like the prince in a fairy tale saved the princess who was cursed by a witch and lived happily ever after.

She wanted to be happy for a long time with Ross, who was the first to reach out to her in her gloomy and pitiful life.

That was what Luna sincerely wished for and the only thing she wanted.
