    654 – The Devil’s Mirror

    654 – The Devil’s Mirror

I held Gaeul’s finger as I gazed into the mirror.

At the bottom of the mirror, there was a small description written.

    [Witch’s Mirror]

    [It shows your wicked self.]

[Don’t be too surprised; it’s not your true self.]

As expected, the mirror was fake.

I had anticipated this since Gaeul in the mirror attacked us.

“Hey, guys, this is all fake.”

    “Yeah. Of course, it’s fake.”

“Seriously! Gaeul the dog won’t hit us!”

I asked just in case, but my kids already knew.

I thought this would be okay for Gaeul, but she was in a sulky mood.

    “Gaeul, are you mad?”

    “Cold! Ikkunapbu!”

    Gaeul exhaled roughly.

First, I decided to calm down the angry Gaeul.

“Gaeul, this shows what would happen if you were bad.”

    “No, Gaeulri napbu anguae.”

“Wouldn’t Gaeul act like that even if she was bad?”

    “Cold!”

    That wasn’t… entirely incorrect.

Our Gaeul would probably just stick out her tongue if she were bad.

    “Right, right.”

As I nodded in acknowledgment, Gaeul began pointing angrily at the mirror.

    “No! Ttaek!”

Was she trying to scold her reflection?

Unfortunately, the mirror wasn’t a conversational partner.

The Gaeul in the mirror continued to attack people indiscriminately.

“I don’t think scolding will work like that.”

“Then shouldn’t we just run away from the mirror?!”

As Bomi held Gaeul’s hand and moved slightly to the side, the mirror began to play with another target.

Thanks to that, Gaeul’s anger subsided, but now she looked sulky.

    “Chyuing…”

    “Huh?”

    “Ttaekhaeju ttaeo.”

    “Ttaek?”

Was she asking me to scold the bad mirror to turn it into a good one?

I didn’t think a mirror without emotions or thoughts would listen to a scolding, but it was hard to refuse Gaeul’s request.

So, I decided to simply show a scolding gesture.

“You little rascal, you need to behave.”

I scolded the mirror that was doing bad things in real-time.

For some reason, I placed my hand on my waist.

Then, Levinas and Bomi clapped their hands simultaneously as if they had realized something.

“Be good! Just like Wang said, we need to make the mirror good!”

    “Exactly, Gyeoul is smart!”

    “Uh, yeah…?”

I had just said it casually, but could this really be possible?

Perhaps Levinas and Bomi, who knew how to use magic, had some method.

    “Excuse me!”

Levinas asked for the understanding of those around and grabbed the mirror.

Bomi also held the opposite side of the mirror and began to move somewhere.

    “What? Is the mirror done?”

“Are the kids taking it away?”

People who were watching the mirror began to murmur.

    Levinas shouted at them.

“Please wait a moment! The mirror is coming back… upgraded!”

People showed curiosity at Levinas’s words.

Of course, they would be excited about the mirror being upgraded.

But my question wasn’t about that part.

“Levinas, where did you learn the word ‘upgrade’?”

“Gaim! When the supreme Kwon Arin does gaim, she does a lot of upgrades!”

    “Really?”

“Yeah! While upgrading, bang! And then, kyaaak!”

    “Oh, I see…”

    Kyaaak, huh.

It must be a pretty rare item.

In any case, our Levinas was quite knowledgeable about game terms.

    **

We moved to the blacksmith with the mirror.

It was to show the mirror to Shin Haeil, who knew about magical items.

“Hmm… this has a strong magical aspect, so we need a skilled magician to modify it.”

    “If it’s a skilled magician…”

Bomi and Levinas had decent magical skills, but not enough to change the nature of the item.

It might be better to ask Jeong Yuna here.

Just as I was about to find Jeong Yuna using pheromones, Bomi raised her hand excitedly.

“Marin is a skilled magician! Should I call her?!”

    “Oh, okay.”

Bomi ran to the swimming pool playground and brought Marin.

Marin and Shin Haeil seemed to start a conversation, and then they began working in real-time.

“Everyone, what do you want the mirror to become?”

“Hmm… I want it to be good.”

“In what way? Do you have any specific actions in mind?”

At Marin’s follow-up question, Levinas suddenly leaned forward.

It seemed he had a specific action in mind.

“I want it to hug! And give kisses on the cheeks!”

    “Hugs and light kisses…”

    “Yeah!”

In the blacksmith, we set detailed settings and began modifying the mirror.

During the modification process, there wasn’t much we could help with.

“Do you all want to go play outside for a bit? We need to get serious with the work now.”

    “Okay.”

If we lingered around during the work, we would only be a distraction.

Except for Haneul, who wanted to help with the work, we all went outside.

We decided to play outside until the mirror was modified.

“Wanga! Wanga! Look at this! Levinas’s new technique!”

    “New technique?”

    “Yeah! Ultimate Levinas Smoke Bomb!”

    Pabababam-!

Levinas began digging into the ground at an incredible speed.

The lightly rising dust concealed Levinas’s figure.

“Levinas, but we can see everything?”

“Yeah! That’s because this is a joint technique!”

    “Joint technique?”

    “Yeah! Gaeul the dog!”

At Levinas’s call, Gaeul raised the Wooden Caliber high.

Then, surprisingly, the Wooden Caliber began to emit light.

    “Wow.”

The bright light concealed Gaeul and Levinas’s figures.

It wasn’t quite a flash, but the dust made it hard to see.

Was this a new technique developed by Levinas and Gaeul?

I couldn’t help but applaud the impressive new technique.

    “That’s amazing.”

A technique that conceals one’s appearance is quite important.

As I praised them for their good work, Saebyeok tugged at my clothes.

“I can hide my appearance too.”

    “Really?”

    “Yeah.”

Saebyeok brought a paper box from the tent.

It was quite a small box, but Saebyeok squeezed her body and managed to fit inside.

    ‘What the…’

How could she fit into that small box?

I certainly didn’t think there would be a person inside.

As I watched in surprise, I saw Saebyeok coming out of the box and decided to try getting in myself.

    “Oh.”

I thought I wouldn’t be able to, but I actually fit.

It felt like my body had turned liquid.

‘Is it because my body is flexible?’

I wasn’t sure, but one thing I knew was that the box made me feel at ease whenever I entered.

    **

    A few hours later.

We stood in front of the modified mirror.

Gaeul also stood there looking tense.

However, contrary to our worries, the mirror showed a different appearance.

    Koo-

The Gaeul in the mirror smiled brightly and hugged me.

Seeing that pure expression, our Gaeul looked relieved.

    “Chyuin! Igguba!”

“Yeah. The mirror Gaeul has become good.”

    Kyaa.

Gaeul let out a scream of joy and hugged me tightly.

Our kids were satisfied with the newly changed mirror.

    Except for one person, Bomi.

“Ugh, I’m a bit disappointed. The violent mirror was fun.”

    “The violent mirror?”

“Yeah. It shows things you can’t actually do.”

    “Hmm… that’s true.”

Maybe it felt like losing a fun toy.

As I tried to comfort the disappointed Bomi, she merely shrugged her shoulders.

“Of course, this mirror is nice too.”

    “…Yeah!”

Hugging and kissing on the cheeks.

We played while looking at the newly changed mirror, and soon we came to our senses.

“Should we take it back to its original place now?”

“Yeah! We should show the mirror to everyone!”

We carried the mirror and moved to the first-floor lobby of the guild.

As we placed the mirror back in its original spot, Jeong Yuna and Hanyeoreum, who were nearby, approached us.

“Hey, is that the witch’s mirror?”

    “Yes, that’s right.”

“That was taken out for people to see; where did you take it?”

At Hanyeoreum’s question, I had to stop in my tracks.

I realized too late that it was a guild asset that we had touched without permission.

“Ah… this mirror was too bad, so we turned it into a good one.”

    “A good mirror?”

    Fortunately, Hanyeoreum didn’t scold us.

She merely showed a hint of curiosity.

“Yes. Would you like to stand here?”

I took Jeong Yuna and Hanyeoreum’s hands and placed them in front of the mirror.

Then, the two people in the mirror hugged and kissed each other’s cheeks…

    “Ugh, ugh!”

    “Ahhh!”

The two screamed and ran away from the mirror.

A startled Hanyeoreum began to punch Jeong Yuna’s shoulder repeatedly.

“Hey, why are you hitting me?!”

    “You, you suddenly…!”

The two people in the mirror were close, but the two in reality were attacking each other.

Seeing this, Levinas and Gaeul looked puzzled, while Bomi laughed, holding her stomach, saying it was funny.

The situation where everyone had different reactions was quite chaotic.

    “Um…”

I tugged at the clothes of the two people about to fight.

The two, startled, turned to look at me.

    “Is the mirror not good…?”

    “Ah, no, it’s really good…?”

    “Really…?”

“Uh, yeah. I was surprised when the mirror moved differently all of a sudden.”

    “Ah, I see.”

So they were surprised by the sudden change in the mirror’s movements.

Just as I nodded in understanding, two men began to approach the mirror.

“Hey, I’m going to really beat you up. Follow me.”

    “Don’t you think I’ll win?”

    “Do you think so?”

The two men who walked toward the mirror glanced at us and casually greeted us.

Then they stood right in front of the mirror, and the expressions of the two men began to turn pale as they looked into the mirror.

    “Uh… uh?!”

    “Ahhh!”

The two men ran away in the distance.

I stared blankly at their retreating figures.

    ‘What was that?’

    Do they dislike hugs?

I thought people in this world liked hugs.

After that, many people came to see the mirror, but except for a few, most screamed and ran away.

Thanks to that, the mirror earned an incredible nickname just one day after being set up here.

[The Devil’s Mirror, which makes it impossible to stand before it with half-hearted resolve.]

[It has become scarier than during the witch’s era!]

    “Eh?!”

Only Levinas opened his eyes wide like a Horned Rabbit upon hearing the nickname.
