649 – Unicorn
His face and the area around his stomach were covered in ketchup.
Since I was planning to take a shower anyway, I didn’t mind getting dirty.
‘But what about my clothes…?’
I wonder if I can clean my clothes with magic?
I was lying down, squinting, and examining my clothes.
“Master! Master!”
Gaeul ran over and hugged me tightly.
I was just playing around, but did Gaeul really think I was hurt?
Just as I was about to get up, Gaeul’s tongue started licking my cheek.
Lick, lick-
Gaeul diligently licked the ketchup off my face.
Saebyeok also dipped a sausage in the ketchup on my other cheek and ate it.
“Guys, I’m dirty because I haven’t showered.”
“No, Gyeoul is clean.”
“Y-yes…! Master has never been dirty since birth…!”
“Huh?”
The kids like me a lot, but cleanliness is a different matter, isn’t it?
I was about to get up to object when Bomi suddenly pressed me down.
“Gyeoul, wait, it’s almost time for them to come.”
“Family?”
“Yeah.”
As Bomi said, I lay down for a moment, and then I heard the sound of the front door opening.
Even though we hadn’t planned a strategy, I pretended to be dead as Bomi intended.
Of course, I didn’t want to really surprise my family, so I made sure my intention was clear that it was a joke.
“Guys, I’m home… Huh?”
“Ugh, ugh… I’m dead…”
As soon as Hanyeoreum came in, I flopped down on the spot.
Hanyeoreum stared blankly at me for a moment, then started laughing, “Hehehe.”
“I’m not falling for it.”
Is it because I said “I’m dead”?
Hanyeoreum just laughed playfully.
Did she know that I wasn’t really hurt?
The kids started playing along in earnest.
“This is terrible! Wang is hurt!”
“Hehe, how did she get hurt?”
“It’s Levinas… Levinas poked her with his horn…!”
“…Huh?”
Hanyeoreum stopped in her tracks at Levinas’s playful words.
Unintentionally, my first meeting with Hanyeoreum was being re-enacted here.
“Waaah, of all times, this accident happened while Levinas was practicing his legendary Headbutt…!”
“I-is that so…?”
Levinas’s innocent joke made Hanyeoreum feel flustered.
This happened because I had never told Levinas or the other kids that I had been pierced by a Horned Rabbit.
“Hehe…”
Hanyeoreum was smiling, but she looked quite awkward.
How can I lighten the mood in this situation?
Before I could finish thinking, Levinas spoke first.
“Levinas knows how to heal the wound caused by the legendary Headbutt!”
“R-really? How do you heal it?”
“It’s the legendary hug…!”
Levinas shouted confidently, as if there was a “du-dum!” sound effect.
Hanyeoreum looked flustered at this.
“…Gyeoul’s body is covered in ketchup?”
“Waaah…! Wang was hit by the legendary Headbutt but she’s refusing treatment…!”
At Levinas’s dramatic wail, I clutched my stomach.
I groaned in a normal tone, and Hanyeoreum, startled, hugged me tightly and sighed.
“Aish, I guess I can’t take this as a joke.”
“Still?”
“Yeah. That incident is still vivid in my mind. I guess I’ll have to carry it with me for the rest of my life.”
Ugh.
Hanyeoreum shuddered.
Levinas started to watch Hanyeoreum’s reaction.
“Summer, was Levinas’s joke too scary…? This is just ketchup…”
Levinas wiggled his fingers.
Hanyeoreum waved her hand at Levinas.
“It’s not because of Levinas just now, it’s because of my personal problem.”
“R-really?”
“Yeah. Levinas’s joke wasn’t scary, so you don’t have to worry too much.”
“Okay!”
Hanyeoreum also knew that Levinas didn’t know what our first meeting was like.
That’s why she didn’t get angry at Levinas’s innocent joke.
“Aigo, I should take a shower first.”
Hanyeoreum pulled at her top, feeling uncomfortable with the ketchup on her clothes.
I wanted to play a prank on Sophia or Ravi too, but I decided to just wash up since the ketchup was sticky.
**
After a quick shower, I returned to the living room.
Levinas was drawing in a sketchbook in the living room.
“Levinas, what are you drawing?”
“A unicorn!”
“A unicorn?”
“Yeah! Levinas’s wish is to see a unicorn!”
His wish is to see a unicorn.
That was a strange thing to say.
In a world with Horned Rabbits and Horned Squirrels, dragons and wyverns, it shouldn’t be that difficult to see a unicorn.
“If you want to see a unicorn, can’t you just go see one?”
“Wanga, they say no one has ever actually seen a unicorn…!”
“No one…?”
This is a world full of mysterious Monsters, and no one has seen a horned horse?
Wouldn’t it be stranger if there weren’t any?
Feeling my confusion, Levinas tapped the unicorn in the sketchbook.
“Unicorns are legendary creatures, so no one knows if they exist or not!”
“R-really? What about dragons?”
“Dragons don’t actually exist?”
“Yeah… they don’t…”
I thought I had learned the common sense of this world to some extent.
Is my lack of common sense being revealed again here?
‘No.’
No matter how I think about it, I can’t understand why a horned horse doesn’t exist.
I’m sorry to Levinas, but I couldn’t rule out the possibility that Levinas might be mistaken.
“Just because no one has seen a unicorn doesn’t mean they don’t actually exist, right?”
“Yeah! Levinas wants to believe that too!”
“Hmm…”
Talking to Levinas about unicorns is making me curious.
I noticed Sophia coming home and approached her.
“Sophia, Sophia.”
“Yes.”
“Do unicorns actually exist?”
“No, they don’t.”
“R-really?”
This is a world where all sorts of horned things exist.
Why is it that only horned horses don’t exist?
I just stood there blankly, not understanding the situation, but for some reason, Sophia’s reaction was strange.
Her eyes were darting around, as if she was flustered.
**
Sophia knew that Gyeoul was a very mature person.
However, sometimes things went wrong when she treated her like an adult.
No matter how mature she was, she was still a child at heart.
When she asked about the existence of unicorns, I answered normally, but she made a blank expression.
Sophia realized that she had made a big mistake when she saw the frozen Gyeoul.
Gyeoul believed that unicorns existed.
Realizing that she had shattered the child’s innocence, Sophia quickly corrected what she had said.
“Well… I haven’t seen a unicorn, but wouldn’t it exist somewhere in the world?”
“Do you think so?”
“Yes, we don’t know everything about this world.”
Sophia watched Gyeoul as she spoke.
She crossed her arms and pondered, but she didn’t seem to have regained her innocence.
‘Foolishly.’
When a child asks, I should have understood the intention and answered.
Perhaps because my body and mind have been at ease recently, I gave a stupid answer.
“Hmm…”
Sophia glanced at Gyeoul and remembered something she hadn’t finished, so she got up.
Then she went straight out of the house and went to see Jeong Yuna.
“Yuna, can you spare some time?”
“Yes. Anytime.”
Sophia told Jeong Yuna about what happened with Gyeoul.
It was a story about unicorns and Gyeoul’s innocence.
“If it’s about that…”
Jeong Yuna made a plan after hearing the whole story.
A plan on how to protect Gyeoul and the children’s innocence.
The Beastmen’s Portal Magic and Transformation Magic, and Hihihing.
Jeong Yuna made her own plan and waited for night to come.
The children went to bed early, so even though she hadn’t waited long, night soon came.
As night came and the children lay in bed to sleep, the space outside the bedroom window began to distort.
Woong-
“Huh?”
Gyeoul and the children, awakened by the sudden situation, turned to the side.
A blue portal suddenly appeared in the air.
Just as they were startled and got up at the portal that had appeared right next to the house, something amazing happened.
A horned horse peeked its face out of the portal.
“Heok?!”
“Wow!”
The horned horse only peeked its head out of the portal for a few seconds.
The horse stared at the children intently, then put its head back into the portal.
Woong-
The portal disappeared as if it had never opened, but the children’s excitement did not disappear.
“A unicorn! It’s a unicorn!”
“Y-yeah!”
“Unicorns really exist?!”
Gyeoul wondered why a unicorn had suddenly appeared.
Then she realized that the Will of the World had been helping her since long ago.
It had been opening various helpful worlds whenever she needed it.
‘Could it be…’
Did it show me a unicorn because I wanted to see one this time?
Is the Will of the World allowed to be this kind?!
Feeling joy, Gyeoul ran to the living room.
Towards Sophia, who was still awake.
“Sophia! I saw a unicorn!”
“Did you?”
“Yes! It suddenly appeared and disappeared in an instant, but I saw it!”
“Hoo.”
Sophia’s tail wagged when she saw Gyeoul happy.
As expected, children were most lovely when they were pure.
