    639 – Survival Game

    639 – Survival Game

We brought a bundle of equipment left behind by those from another world and ascended to the surface.

First, we planned to show the equipment to the blacksmiths.

    Crunch, crunch—

I moved toward the blacksmith’s shop while listening to Levinas crunching on a carrot.

Just then, children were playing with something on the surface.

“How is it? Smells good, right?”

    “Yes…! It’s fragrant…!”

    “Hek…!”

The children sniffed the smell of the lit candle that Bomi had offered.

No, it was probably an incense stick rather than a candle.

The sweet scent of lavender could be felt even from a distance.

Just smelling it made my tail wag.

Feeling good from the aroma, I waved my hand toward the children.

    “Hey, what are you doing?”

    “Gyeoul!”

    “Chuin! Rabbit Horn!”

The children turned around in response to my voice.

Gaeul seemed eager to let us smell the incense after our trip to the tunnel, so she ran over after receiving it from Bomi.

The problem was that Gaeul was running so fast that the flame almost went out.

    “Chuin! Ignite!”

    “Gaeul, it’s out!”

    “Huh?”

Gaeul blinked at the extinguished incense stick.

Then, as if she had a good idea, she perked up her ears and dashed toward a nearby crop field.

    “Hek…”

The children never eat the Cheongyang pepper.

After harvesting one, Gaeul returned and presented it to Levinas.

    “Rabbit Horn Ignite.”

    “What!”

Levinas opened his Rabbit eyes at her attitude, as if she were offering it to him.

I knew why Gaeul wanted Levinas to eat the Cheongyang pepper.

Was she asking him to eat something spicy and then breathe fire to light the incense?

It was truly a Gaeul-like idea.

“Gaeul, Levinas might pass out if he eats that!”

    “Pass out?!”

“Yes! It’s very spicy, so it’s absolutely forbidden for children!”

    “Hek…”

    Gaeul, surprisingly, didn’t press further.

When our eyes met, she was startled and hid the Cheongyang pepper behind her back.

    ‘What is it?’

Did she hide it because it was super spicy?

It was a moment of confusion.

Saebyeok, who had been quietly watching us, approached.

“Gaeul, I’ll light it for you.”

Saebyeok used a lighter to ignite the incense.

As the flame lit, the subtle lavender scent began to intensify.

    “Wow! It smells so good!”

“Right? It smells even better now that it’s lit.”

While enjoying the scent of the incense with the children, I suddenly remembered the equipment we had brought from the tunnel.

Turning around, I saw our Master cradling the equipment in his arms.

“Haneul, can you take a look at this?”

    “What is it…?”

“It seems to be equipment from another world; I think we need to analyze it.”

    “Yes…! I’ll find out with the blacksmiths…!”

    “Hehe, thanks.”

I felt reassured with Haneul around.

I decided to leave the equipment matters to Haneul and take a good rest for the day.

    **

While sitting around the campfire in front of the Ggaemmi Guild and chatting with the children, Gaeul suddenly dashed off somewhere and returned holding Ensia’s wrist.

    “Chuin! Watermelon!”

“Gaeul, you need to be careful with your pronunciation.”

    “Huh?”

Ensia had two large watermelons in her hands.

One watermelon was more than twice the size of my head.

    “Wow! It’s a watermelon!”

Levinas tapped the watermelon with his palm as if handling an instrument.

The sound resonated with a rhythmic bounce, which was quite amusing.

“Ensia, why do you have watermelons?”

“I received a few as gifts. The fruit is really sweet and delicious.”

    “Is that so?”

If Ensia was wagging her tail and saying it was delicious, it must be incredibly tasty.

    “Ensia, let’s eat watermelon together.”

“Yes. Can I also call Argo?”

    “Of course.”

Ensia called Argo over, and the children naturally climbed onto Argo’s back.

Argo’s massive body always became a playground for our children.

As I chuckled at the fun sight, Ensia began to slice the watermelon with a knife.

    Swish, swish—

Being a natural swordsman, she cut the watermelon skillfully and neatly.

The two large watermelons were enough for everyone in the Ggaemmi Guild to eat their fill.

“Gyeoul, should we give some to our staff too?”

    “Yes. Let’s do that.”

“Then I’ll go and give it to them.”

Saebyeok entered the guild container with the watermelon.

I watched the kind Saebyeok and grabbed a piece of watermelon with the children.

    “Yum.”

The moment I took a bite of the watermelon, I couldn’t help but exclaim.

The sweet juice characteristic of watermelon spread throughout my mouth.

    “Wow.”

Without a doubt, it was the most delicious watermelon I had ever eaten in my life.

Perhaps it was even more delicious because I was sharing it with everyone; at that moment, I noticed one side of Levinas’s cheek was puffed up after finishing a whole watermelon.

    “Levinas, what’s that?”

    “It’s the Levinas Machine Gun!”

    “Machine gun?”

    “Yes!”

Levinas nodded, puffing out his cheeks filled with air.

Then he began to fire watermelon seeds toward the empty grassy area of the park.

    Puh—! Puh—! Puh—! Puh—!

The watermelon seeds didn’t fire in rapid succession like a machine gun, but he still spat out quite a few.

It felt like he was firing single shots instead.

Seeing Levinas spitting out the seeds in succession seemed to amuse Gaeul, who clapped her hands and laughed.

    “Gaeul too, Watermelon!”

“Yes! Gaeul is having so much fun with this!”

    Puh—!

Watching Levinas spit out watermelon seeds, Gaeul took a big bite of watermelon.

Was she trying to pick out the seeds? Gaeul was eating the watermelon quite carefully.

As she swallowed the watermelon, Gaeul’s eyebrows furrowed fiercely.

    “Gaeul, are you ready?!”

    “Hek…”

On Gaeul’s slightly protruding tongue, a watermelon seed was resting.

It seemed she was trying to spit out just one seed, unlike Levinas who was firing in succession.

    “Gaeul Puppy Cannon, fire!”

With Levinas’s shout, Gaeul’s cheeks puffed up.

It was a moment of anticipation to see how far our Gaeul could spit the seed.

    Gulp—

I heard something swallow in Gaeul’s throat.

At the same time, Gaeul’s previously furrowed eyebrows began to relax.

    “…Huh?”

    Gaeul’s eyes widened in surprise.

I could tell just from that that Gaeul had swallowed the watermelon seed.

And it seemed our children realized it too.

“Ah! Gaeul swallowed a watermelon seed! What should we do?”

    Bomi looked overly shocked.

She stomped her feet on the ground and waved her arms up and down.

    “It’s okay, Watermelon Seed Mana.”

“It’s not okay! If you eat a watermelon seed, a watermelon will grow in your belly!”

    “Grow?!”

“Yes! Now a watermelon is going to grow from Gaeul’s belly?!”

The thought of a watermelon growing from her belly was quite absurd.

Was Bomi trying to play a prank on Gaeul?

I expected Gaeul to be startled, but surprisingly, she just laughed heartily.

    “Yay!”

    “Is it… a good thing?”

“Hek…! Gaeul will share if a watermelon grows!”

If a watermelon grows in her belly, she’ll share it.

How could a person be so kind?

Bomi seemed to think she couldn’t outdo Gaeul’s innocence, scratching her cheek instead.

“Will Levinas also get a watermelon from Gaeul?”

At Levinas’s question, Gaeul innocently nodded her head.

Unfortunately, I had no choice but to inform Gaeul of the shocking reality this time.

“Gaeul, a watermelon doesn’t grow from a person’s belly button.”

    “Eh?!”

Was it more shocking that a watermelon doesn’t grow than the idea of it growing?

    Gaeul’s eyes widened in surprise.

    Unfortunately, reality was indeed harsh.

    **

After eating watermelon with my family and returning home, I turned on the television.

While flipping through the channels with the remote, I stumbled upon an intriguing program called “Survival Game.”

Entering the wild with nothing but your body and surviving until you become the last one standing.

This was my area of expertise.

Curiosity piqued, I set the remote down and began watching the television.

First, finding food is the priority, right?

I wonder if there’s a place nearby to find food.

All the participants in the program were foreigners.

They spoke about their survival methods while looking at the camera, and I couldn’t help but feel bewildered.

There were plenty of edible plants and insects visible on the camera.

    “What is this?”

I tilted my head while watching the television.

Just then, Hanyeoreum, who had entered the house, looked at me with curiosity.

    “Gyeoul, what’s wrong?”

“There’s a program about surviving in the wild on TV, and it looks easier than I expected.”

    “R-really?”

“Yes, the island is quite abundant, and if you complete the mission, they give you supplies. It seems like just a game.”

If surviving on such a rich island is that easy, it must be a piece of cake.

While I chuckled watching the television, I couldn’t help but be shocked by the details of the game being announced.

    – The last one standing will receive a prize of 1 billion won.

    “W-1 billion?!”

    What is this?

They’re offering 1 billion for something that easy?

    Is something wrong?

After blinking for a while, I slowly looked up at Hanyeoreum.

    “Should I apply to participate…?”

Since this is season 5, there should be seasons 6 and 7 as well.

With anticipation, I made eye contact with Hanyeoreum, but she simply shook her head firmly.

    “Unnie won’t allow it?”

    “Huh…”

If Hanyeoreum says no, then it must be a no.

    My ears drooped in disappointment.
