Chapter Index

    595 – Mom!

    595 – Mom!

    “Levinas, let’s go quickly!”

    “Okay!”

I ran towards Winterion Village with Levinas in tow.

As we went, I turned back to check if Levinas was keeping up.

    Thud-thud-thud-!

Levinas was joyfully running behind me, arms stretched out to the sides.

    It was amusing to see.

“Wanga! But what kind of gift is it?!”

“It’s an incredibly good gift. It might be the best one I’ve ever given!”

    “Really?!”

    “Yep!”

A reunion with parents who had parted ways as a gift.

I could confidently say there would be no better gift in Levinas’s entire life.

    “Yay!”

Perhaps due to the excitement of the gift, Levinas dashed ahead of me.

After running ahead, Levinas turned back to me.

    “Wanga, where’s the gift?!”

    “Over there.”

I pointed to the conference hall in the distance.

Levinas ran ahead towards the annex but did not open the door.

It seemed like Levinas wanted me to open it, given that it was a surprise gift.

    “Levinas, are you ready?”

    “Okay!”

I opened the door to the conference hall.

Then Levinas charged towards the open door with a characteristic shout.

Inside the conference hall were Ravi, Ensia, and Nora.

In the brief moment I had taken Levinas away, all the nobles had disappeared.

    “Levinas, look over there.”

I pointed to Ravi sitting in the conference hall.

I expected Levinas to joyfully rush over, but unexpectedly, a different reaction came.

    “······!”

Levinas, who had been running ahead, suddenly froze in surprise and hid behind me.

It was as if he was frightened.

    “Levinas…?”

Levinas, hiding behind me, glared at Ravi with fierce eyes.

Fear and wariness emanated from Levinas.

    “Who are you?!”

    Thud-! Thud-!

Levinas stomped the ground, threatening Ravi.

Of course, he did not come out from behind me.

    ‘What on earth.’

It was unexpected for Levinas not to recognize Ravi.

I stared blankly between the two of them.

In response to Levinas’s threat, Ravi stood silently.

    “······.”

Ravi cautiously approached us, taking very slow steps.

    Thud-! Thud-!

As Ravi drew closer, Levinas’s threats intensified, but Ravi did not stop.

    “Is that… Levinas?”

    “Do you know Levinas?”

“Yes. Very well. Levinas has grown a lot, hasn’t he?”

    “······.”

Ravi knelt down to match our height.

Once eye level was established, Levinas stepped out from behind me and approached Ravi.

    Sniff sniff.

As Levinas sniffed Ravi’s scent, he clenched his fists.

Without hesitation, he threw a punch at Ravi.

    Thud-!

    “Ouch.”

Levinas’s punch landed on Ravi’s shoulder.

After landing the punch, Levinas ran back to hide behind me again.

    ‘What is going on.’

    Levinas was unusually aggressive today.

Was it because it was the first time seeing another Horned Rabbit?

What should I do to help Levinas…

“Show me proof that you’re Levinas’s mom!”

Levinas said sharply, directing his voice at Ravi.

At that, my ears perked up.

To demand proof of being a mother without ever having mentioned it was quite something.

Perhaps Levinas instinctively realized that Ravi was his mother.

But given the wariness, he might be feeling shy, awkward, or perhaps upset with the mother who had just returned.

    “Proof of being a mother?”

    “Okay!”

“What kind of proof should I provide?”

    “Um, um…”

Levinas, hiding behind me, fiddled with the hem of my clothes.

It seemed he hadn’t decided on what kind of proof to ask for.

To facilitate the reunion of the two mothers, I decided to help a little.

    “Levinas, Levinas.”

    “Okay?”

“If it’s your mom, wouldn’t a hug feel really warm? A fake mom wouldn’t be warm at all.”

    “Wow…!”

Levinas cautiously stepped out from behind me.

While still wary of Ravi, he did not stop approaching.

He seemed to want to pout at the mother who had come late, but his acceptance indicated he didn’t truly hate her.

    “Then, hug Levinas!”

Levinas stretched out his arms towards Ravi.

His voice was both confident and somewhat frightened.

Ravi smiled and embraced Levinas tightly.

    “······!”

As soon as they hugged, Levinas’s body trembled.

For a moment, it seemed like Levinas was lost in thought, then he hugged Ravi back tightly.

    Sniffle-

Levinas burrowed deeply into Ravi’s embrace.

The sound of Levinas wiping his nose did not cease.

    “······.”

Nora, Ensia, and I remained quiet to not interrupt the reunion of the two.

After a while, Levinas finally emerged from Ravi’s arms.

Levinas’s eyes, now visible, were red.

    “Levinas, how do you feel…?”

I approached Levinas, who was rubbing his eyes, and asked.

Levinas responded by squatting down on the spot.

    “Levinas?”

Levinas curled up as small as possible.

    Was something wrong?

It was a moment of concern as I watched Levinas.

    “Meow!”

Levinas sprang up with a bounce, having curled up.

He bumped his head against the high ceiling of the conference hall, but he did not show any sign of pain.

    “Wanga!”

    “Yes…?”

“I received the gift very, very well!”

    “Really?”

    “Yes. A kiss is next!”

    Levinas hugged me tightly.

But instead of kissing, he only rubbed his cheek against mine.

    Naturally, I wasn’t disappointed.

I knew this was the best expression of affection Levinas could offer.

    **

“Mom! This is Levinas’s playground! It’s called the swimming pool playground!”

    “Wow, there’s a mermaid too?”

“Yep! And Jogi is Levinas’s home!”

Levinas did not come down from Ravi’s arms.

I wanted to leave so as not to interrupt their happy time, but both Ravi and Levinas grabbed my hand simultaneously.

    “Wanga, where are you going?”

“I thought I’d give you two some time alone.”

    “Eh…”

    “Shall we just stay together?”

    “Okay! We’re together!”

The three of us strolled peacefully through the park.

However, there was a hint of disappointment on Levinas’s face.

    “Levinas, what’s wrong?”

“It’s nothing…! I just thought it would be nice if Dad were here too…”

    “I see.”

Levinas hoped to meet Dad someday.

    That thought crossed my mind.

    Ravi smiled, resembling Levinas closely.

    “There’s a dad too?”

    “Is there?!”

“Yes. Your mom wanted to keep Levinas all to herself, so she got a little greedy. Dad would understand, right?”

    “······!”

Instead of answering, Levinas flopped back and lay down.

Then he got back up and giggled.

The idea of having both a mom and a dad seemed to be an expression of joy that could make one faint.

    “Wanga! Wanga!”

    “Yes?”

“Since Levinas and Wanga are family, Levinas’s mom is also Wanga’s mom!”

    “Is that so?”

“Yep! So you should call Levinas’s mom ‘Mom’ too!”

    “Uh, okay…”

Ravi and I were originally friends.

Doing this made it feel like the family tree was getting tangled.

Noticing something odd, Ravi patted Levinas’s head and said,

“Levinas, your mom and Gyeoul have been friends for a long time, you know?”

    “Really?!”

    “Yep.”

    “Then just be friends!”

“Should I? Well, if Gyeoul calls me mom, I won’t particularly stop it…”

    Ravi glanced at me.

I shook my head at Ravi.

It felt quite strange for my friend Ravi to become a mom.

Seeing me shake my head quickly seemed to amuse Levinas and Ravi, who laughed in unison.

“By the way, Gyeoul, take this.”

Ravi pulled out the Blessing of the Water God from her bosom.

Since it was a treasure of the Beastmen, it wasn’t something I could easily accept.

    “But this is…”

“There’s no one else to take it besides Gyeoul.”

    “But Levinas is here!”

“Levinas has already decided on his role.”

    “Role?”

“Yes. Levinas has decided to be a guardian.”

    A guardian, huh.

What kind of role could that be?

I didn’t know what it was, but Levinas nodded in agreement.

“Then I’ll ask other people too. I feel like I shouldn’t absorb it carelessly.”

“Um… Okay, I understand for now.”

    **

I wandered around the guild with the blessing I received from Ravi.

The first person I sought out was our Master.

I owed a blessing to the Master.

    “You use it.”

    “Use it…?”

    “Yes.”

The Master, uninterested, urged me to use it.

I visited all the guild members and people from the Beastmen village, and everyone wanted me to use it.

    “If I really use it?”

    “Yes.”

    “Hurry up and use it.”

“Two blessings…! I’m about to write a new history for the Beastmen…!”

As rumors spread that I was absorbing a second blessing, many guild members and Beastmen gathered in the park.

But how do I absorb this blessing?

When I glanced at Sophia, who had come out to the park, she gestured for me to eat it.

    Nom.

I immediately put the blessing in my mouth.

As it melted away like cotton candy, it began to seep into my body.

“How does it feel? Do you feel something new?”

    “Is Gyeoul now invincible?”

People looked at me with anticipation.

I definitely felt like there was an immense power swirling inside me.

    “Yes, I feel incredibly strong.”

    I clenched my fists tightly.

Through the energy coursing through my body, I could feel that I had become significantly stronger.

    ‘At this level…’

Confident in my newfound strength, I approached a wooden box placed near the forge.

    Thud-

I struck the wooden box with all my might, and the box remained intact.

    And my fist hurt immensely.

    “Ugh, ugh…”

It seemed like it was just a feeling.
