    594 – It’s Been A While

A familiar scent wafted from the portal connected to the village of Winterion.

Gyeoul was drawn to the aroma and moved closer to the portal.

“Ensia, may I meet the Beastmen who brought the blessing?”

“Yes, then I’ll go ahead and prepare things.”

“Is there anything specific that needs preparation?”

    “Yes. Meetings require some preparation.”

    “I see.”

Gyeoul wanted to step through the portal immediately, but since Ensia said preparations were necessary, she decided to wait for a moment.

Leaving Gyeoul in the park, Ensia stepped through the portal to Winterion.

“Nora, has he changed his mind about entering?”

“No, he’s still uncertain. The noble’s scheming skills are quite formidable…”

“Well, they have managed to dominate our Beastmen, so it can’t be helped.”

    “Yes…”

Nora’s day darkened as the situation did not flow easily.

Ensia barely managed to suppress her smugness while watching Nora.

Of course, she couldn’t help but let her tail wag.

“Nora, you can stop worrying now.”

    “Really? Why is that?”

“Lord Gyeoul has decided to take action personally.”

“So it has come to that.”

They should have ended it on their own, but now Lord Gyeoul was getting involved.

While she felt ashamed for not completing the mission properly, on the other hand, she felt reassured that Gyeoul was taking action.

Though Gyeoul appeared small and delicate, Nora knew very well the power she possessed.

The power to move people’s hearts.

‘Surely, Lord Gyeoul will persuade him well.’

She believed that someone with a kind heart like Gyeoul would be recognized.

Nora decided to trust Gyeoul like Ensia and moved to the annex where Ravi was.

    “Lady Ravi.”

At Nora’s call, Ravi opened the door of the annex and stepped outside.

Ravi’s expression was clearly troubled to anyone who saw her.

“Have you been well, Lady Ravi?”

“No, unfortunately, I haven’t been comfortable.”

    “I see.”

“Yes. For a village that has been exploited until recently, it has developed too much… It’s quite confusing.”

“It’s natural to find it hard to believe.”

Even Nora, the person involved, couldn’t believe that the village had developed to this extent.

It was understandable that Ravi, an outsider, couldn’t believe it either.

“Someone must be lying, but I have no idea who to trust.”

“Yes. It seems you don’t trust us, so we brought the king… the representative of the village.”

“The representative? Wasn’t Lady Nora the representative?”

“No, the village’s king… there is a separate representative. So could you spare some time?”

Ensia went to fetch Gyeoul, while Nora gathered Ravi and the former nobles together.

Even though the former nobles could have been filled with new hope, they managed their image thoroughly in front of Ravi.

“Lady Ravi, we have lived as slaves all our lives. So please…”

Nora said nothing while watching the nobles manage their image.

Ensia had gone to fetch their king… representative.

Nora’s only concern was how Gyeoul would persuade Ravi.

Would she use her incredible eloquence to convince him?

    Or perhaps her unique charisma?

As Nora’s imagination took flight, Ensia announced Gyeoul’s arrival.

    “Lord Gyeoul has arrived.”

    “…Lord Gyeoul?”

Ravi reacted to the mention of Gyeoul’s name.

It was a slight tremor, but Nora didn’t miss it.

‘It seems she knows Lord Gyeoul…’

Or maybe it was just a misunderstanding.

It was the moment Nora looked at Gyeoul entering the conference room.

    “Oh?”

Gyeoul looked surprised as she saw Ravi.

Ravi also stared at Gyeoul with wide eyes.

“Lady Ravi, do you perhaps know Lord Gyeoul…?”

    “You frauds!”

Before Nora could finish her question, Ravi moved.

    Bam!

She struck the back of a nearby noble’s head.

    “Just as I thought…”

Ensia nodded as if she had expected this.

She believed that Gyeoul had persuaded Ravi with just a glance.

    **

The moment they entered the meeting room of the Beastmen village, they saw a familiar Horned Rabbit Beastman.

The appearance and the scent emanating from her were definitely from someone Nora knew, but among the people she knew, there were no adult Horned Rabbits.

    ‘I definitely saw her somewhere…’

It was the moment Nora was pondering while looking at the Horned Rabbit Beastman.

    “You frauds!”

Suddenly, she attacked the back of the noble she was sitting with.

    “……!”

She looked gentle, but was she more aggressive than she appeared?

Nora watched her actions with surprise.

Then the Horned Rabbit Beastman, who had attacked the former noble, began walking toward her.

    “Gyeoul!”

    She lifted Nora up effortlessly.

Frozen, all Nora could do was breathe.

Naturally, she could smell her scent more closely, and she realized whose scent it was.

    “Ravi?”

“Yes. I’m Ravi. Gyeoul hasn’t changed at all, has she?”

    “Huh?!”

Why had Ravi already grown up?

    The question didn’t linger long.

She had experienced that the flow of time was different in the world beyond the portal.

    “Ravi, you’ve grown up?”

“Yes. I even have a daughter now?”

    “A daughter?!”

When had Ravi grown up so much?

Nora felt a mix of regret and joy.

“I was wondering why Gyeoul never came back, but this was the reason.”

    Ravi hugged her tightly.

Then, she noticed other Beastmen behind Ravi.

“Lord Gyeoul, do you know Lady Ravi?”

    “Yes.”

Nora and Ensia sighed in relief.

And the former nobles were engulfed in shock.

    “W-what is this…?”

At someone’s mumbling, Ravi turned around.

She pointed at them and mimicked cutting her throat with her thumb.

“You are dead in my hands.”

    “……!”

Seeing the terrified former nobles, Nora noticed that Joséphine was not among them.

She had thought Joséphine was the main player in this matter, but what was going on?

She couldn’t help but express her doubts to Ensia.

    “Ensia, I don’t see Joséphine?”

“Yes. Joséphine did not participate in this matter.”

    “Really?”

“Yes. She didn’t seem to care much.”

Joséphine was the type who didn’t bother with things she found uninteresting.

If she had been involved, things would have been much more difficult, so it was a relief that she wasn’t.

“Ravi, Ravi. Have you been well all this time?”

“I want to say I’ve been well, but… I don’t want to lie to Gyeoul. To be honest, I haven’t been doing well.”

    “R-really?”

“Yes… I couldn’t find anyone to give me a blessing, and I lost my daughter…”

Sadness was evident on Ravi’s face.

However, it seemed that Ravi was happier to reunite with Nora than to dwell on her sadness.

“I’m so glad to see you, Gyeoul. Do you want this blessing?”

    “M-me?!”

“Yes. I thought I would give it to someone superior to Gyeoul, but in the end, I couldn’t find anyone.”

At Ravi’s words, Ensia cleared her throat and interjected.

“That’s only natural. Lord Gyeoul is someone who appears once in a lifetime.”

    “That’s right.”

    Even Nora nodded in agreement.

Ravi seemed pleased with their reactions and chuckled.

“I think this is meant for Gyeoul.”

    “But I’ve already absorbed one…”

    “Then you can absorb two!”

    “Two…?”

Is it really okay to absorb two blessings?

She looked at Nora and Ensia nearby.

The two were just shining with excitement.

“Lord Gyeoul, please absorb it quickly.”

“To absorb two blessings is unprecedented in the history of the Beastmen.”

    “Uh…”

Nora stared at the blessing that Ravi offered without taking it.

Then Ravi waved her hand up and down, urging her to take it.

Even as an adult, Ravi’s playful smile reminded Nora of their Levinas.

“Ravi always reminds me of our Levinas.”

“Ah… you really do resemble her.”

“I thought someone looked familiar, but it was you, Lord Levinas.”

Ensia and Nora agreed with her words.

    Ravi slowly nodded her head.

“That’s right, you said I resembled Levinas when we first met, didn’t you?”

    “Yes.”

“Did you remember that and name your daughter Levinas?”

    “Wow, really… oh?”

Levinas, my precious family who lost her parents, resembles Ravi.

    Ravi’s lost daughter, Levinas.

Isn’t there a lot in common between the Levinases?

Ravi, Ensia, and Nora seemed to realize something strange, stopping in their tracks and rolling their eyes.

    “Uh…”

    “Could it be…?”

Though we didn’t exchange words, we were all thinking the same thing.

That Ravi might be Levinas’s mother.

‘Now that I think about it…’

When I met Levinas from another world in the past, I had briefly seen Levinas’s parents.

The appearance of the parents I saw back then was definitely…

    “Whoa!”

I think I understand why Levinas sometimes opens her Horned Rabbit eyes.

Opening her Horned Rabbit eyes was one of the best ways to express surprise.

    “Ravi is our Levinas’s mother!”

    It was a miraculous event.

No, to be precise, should I say the portal created this miracle?

I ran toward Levinas, forgetting about my reunion with Ravi.

    **

A one-star Horned Rabbit card is a super rare card.

A two-star cat card is a finishing card.

    “Levinas! Levinas!”

Gyeoul rushed toward Levinas, who was organizing the Animal King Cards.

Levinas smiled brightly at the gentle scent emanating from Gyeoul.

“Today’s king is just like mom again!”

    “No! I’m not mom!”

    “Oh, really…?”

Levinas liked mom Wang, but did she dislike Wang?

    Levinas’s ears drooped sadly.

“Levinas, you have a separate mom…”

    “Uh…”

But now she couldn’t meet her mom.

Somehow, Levinas felt a lack of consideration in Gyeoul’s tone, and she shrank back.

“Levinas, shall we go somewhere for a bit?”

    “Where are we going…?”

“I’ll give you the coolest present ever.”

    “A present?!”

Was it something scary, meant to be a surprise?

Levinas smiled brightly as if to say, “When did I ever say that?”

    “Uh! Great!”
