    531 – Pure Heart

    531 – Pure Heart

A day passed, and the interview day arrived.

The interview included Sophia, Ensia, the children, and me.

    “Sophia, are you ready?”

    “Yes, I’m ready.”

    “Then let’s get started…”

I looked out the window at the Ggaemmi Guild building.

Due to the lack of space, the interviewees were outside the building, and seeing so many people in suits made me start to feel nervous.

‘Looks like they’re doing well out there.’

Shin Hae-il, Betty, Marin, and Haneul were in charge of guiding the interviewees.

In a place out of sight, Argo was lending a hand.

Argo had brought over a hundred chairs from the Dawn Guild.

Thanks to that, we could comfortably focus on preparing for the interview.

After the interview, I felt I should thank Argo.

“I’m going to head in now.”

    “Okay.”

As Betty opened the door, five interviewees entered.

They were well-groomed and walked confidently like models.

    “Wow.”

To think such impressive people came to interview for our guild.

I wanted to show the interviewers a serious demeanor, but my tail was wagging, making it hard to maintain that composure.

“Please introduce yourselves, starting from the left.”

    “Hello, I am…”

    Self-introductions began one by one.

There was tension, but no one was trembling or making mistakes.

I thought to myself that Sophia really knew how to pick people.

    “Then next…”

    “Ugh…! Wanga…!”

    “Huh?”

Levinas, who was reviewing the interviewees’ resumes, slammed the papers down on the desk with a thud.

Then he whispered just loud enough for me to hear.

“Wanga…! Levinas is going to conduct a pressure interview…!”

    “A pressure interview…?”

    “Yes…!”

    Levinas’s eyebrows shot up fiercely.

That expression raised the tension among the interviewees as well.

“Good morning, everyone! Please do your best in the interview!”

    “Ah, yes.”

The interviewees were not flustered by Levinas’s rough tone.

In fact, despite the roughness of his speech, the content itself was gentle.

“Levinas, that’s not a pressure interview.”

    “Isn’t it?!”

“No. A pressure interview is when you say scary things.”

    “Ugh…! But Levinas can’t say scary things… what should I do…?”

    “Then I can’t do it.”

    “Ugh.”

    Levinas’s gaze returned to normal.

Now it was a gentle interview instead of a pressure one.

As the atmosphere returned to normal, Ensia began with the prepared questions.

“What is your reason for wanting to join the Ggaemmi Guild?”

    “Um…”

The first interviewee turned to look at us in response to Ensia’s question.

He looked at us with clear eyes and answered with a suitably pleasant smile.

“I believe this is the guild with the highest potential for growth among the new guilds…”

    “Wait a moment…”

Bomi, who had been typing diligently, interrupted the interviewee.

Bomi was responsible for jotting down the conversations we had.

“I’m still slow at typing. Please speak a little slower.”

    “Okay.”

The interviewee nodded and began to speak slowly again.

“I believe this guild has the highest potential for growth among the new guilds. Rather than stagnating in a fully established guild, I want to grow alongside a guild with potential.”

    “Wow.”

    That’s a great answer.

I was about to clap, but Sophia reached out and stopped me.

“Wanting to grow together sounds like you believe you still have potential, but conversely, it also means you acknowledge that you’re still lacking.”

“Yes. I won’t deny my shortcomings. And I won’t deny that I can grow rapidly.”

Acknowledging one’s shortcomings also means not lying.

So, saying that one can grow rapidly also means it’s not a lie.

    “Wow, wow, wow.”

    What incredible confidence.

    I couldn’t help but clap.

“Well… Gyeoul, don’t you have any questions?”

    “Me, me…?”

Aren’t the questions supposed to be asked by Ensia and Sophia?

I turned to look beside me, feeling flustered.

Then Gaeul pointed proudly at the Ggaemmi Guild logo and then pointed at me.

    “Ggaemmi! Chyu-in!”

With an attitude as if boasting, the first interviewee began to clap.

Gaeul might have thought that the first interviewee’s score was the highest.

    “Um, um.”

Seeing Ensia nodding in satisfaction, it seemed she also had a good impression of the first interviewee.

    **

    “Sigh.”

The interview ended after nearly a whole day.

Exhausted, we lay flat on the guild floor.

“Gyeoul, have you decided who to pick?”

    “Well…”

I turned to look at Levinas, who was lying next to me.

He had a blank expression, as if he were drained.

“Levinas, who did you like the most?”

    “I don’t know…!”

    “Oh really? What about Gaeul?”

    “Monna!”

    “I see?”

After hearing the children’s opinions, I turned to Sophia.

My opinion was the same as the children’s.

    “I don’t know either. They’re all too outstanding…”

Out of more than ten thousand applicants, we had narrowed it down to a hundred. The people who came to interview today were all in the top one percent.

    “Ah…”

Is it that difficult to have only the elite come for interviews?

To think I would have to drop most of these people with my own hands.

    It made me feel uneasy.

    “Ugh…”

As I rolled around on the guild floor in frustration, Hanyeoreum appeared, covered in dirt and blood.

It seemed she had just returned from a dungeon.

“Did everyone do well in the interviews?”

    “No… we couldn’t do the interviews…”

    “Couldn’t do it?”

“Yes… They were all amazing, and I don’t know who to pick.”

    “Gyeoul said that?”

“Yes. It’s so hard to think about dropping all but two of such impressive people.”

    “Um… then…”

Hanyeoreum, who was deep in thought, showed me her palm.

I naturally placed my head on Hanyeoreum’s palm.

“No, I meant I wanted just five people, not to pet you.”

    “Five people?”

“Yes. Gyeoul has a great eye for talent. If you’re feeling this way, it means they’re incredible candidates.”

    “Um… I don’t think I have that great of an eye…”

“No, you do. So just connect us with five people. No matter how many talented people there are, it’s never enough. We also need people over by the department store.”

    “Yes! Sounds good!”

I was thrilled to be able to give more people a chance.

    “Ah…! Then…”

I immediately picked up the receiver from Levinas.

Master Chae Joo-yeon from the Holy Guild, Master Park Tae-san from the Tae-san Guild.

And Min So-yoon, who was in charge of human interactions in the Beastmen village, along with the president of the Magician Association, Lee Geon-woo.

I called everyone who might need people.

Of course, I didn’t forget to ask for permission from those who had interviewed.

    **

Jeong Yuna sat on a park bench, looking at her smartphone.

She was trying to find the person who had left harassing comments for her.

‘This person even left comments like this for Summer?’

I wonder where this pervert lives?

Doesn’t he know that SNS can be tracked?

It wasn’t just Jeong Yuna who was angry about the comments; there were plenty of replies to the harassing comments.

[Hey, dude…Going against the Dawn Guild

Do you not know that SNS can be traced back to real names?]

[What if the Dawn kids see this comment?]

Many people were expressing their anger on behalf of Jeong Yuna.

Should I really find and catch this guy?

    Sigh.

Just then, Gyeoul and the children approached Jeong Yuna.

Jeong Yuna relaxed her expression as if nothing had happened, but Gyeoul, with her keen eyes, didn’t miss that change.

    “Is something wrong?”

“Oh, it’s nothing much, just some bad comments on SNS.”

    “Bad comments?”

“Yeah. I’m going to report this guy to the legal team…”

A small Mana haze began to rise around Jeong Yuna’s body.

Just how bad were those comments?

As Gyeoul was observing Jeong Yuna’s anger, Levinas suddenly held out his smartphone.

“Levinas wrote a good comment for Magician Yuna!”

“Huh? Levinas made an SNS ID?”

“Yes! The rough waves helped me make it! Want to see the comment Levinas wrote?!”

    “Yes, I want to see.”

As Jeong Yuna nodded, Levinas swiped up on the smartphone screen.

Just as Levinas’s comment was about to appear, Jeong Yuna raised her hand to cover the screen.

“…Why are you suddenly covering it?”

“Ah… because the bad comment I just mentioned is here.”

At Jeong Yuna’s words, Levinas paused for a moment.

After blinking a couple of times, Levinas looked up at Jeong Yuna and asked.

“Why is the comment Levinas wrote bad…?”

    “Huh…?”

“This is a good comment that Levinas and everyone wrote together…”

    “All of this…?”

Jeong Yuna slowly moved her hand away from the screen.

Then she began to check the comments again.

    [Your legs are pretty.]

    [Sniff sniff, it smells good.]

    [Your hair is flowing.]

    [Pet me every day.]

    [Let’s meet and hug.]

    [□squish♥☆]

Just yesterday, Levinas had praised her long legs.

Sniffing the scent, playing with her hair while being held, and getting petted every day.

All of these were things the children did every day.

    “Ah.”

The children’s ears drooped as they looked up at Jeong Yuna.

Seeing the disappointed children, the first thing Jeong Yuna did was pick up her smartphone to leave a comment.

[These are comments written by our kids!]

She had to prevent more malicious comments from being added to the pure-hearted comments written by the children.

That was the only thing Jeong Yuna could do for the kids.

A word from the author (Author’s note)

Thank you so much for reading today!

Thank you for the comments and recommendations as well! They always give me strength!

    I want to say, “Wow~ Jeong Yuna is so bad~~ Wow~~…” but…!

In fact, this was a happening that occurred because the kids didn’t know much about the internet…!
