520 – Why is it the Master?

520 – Why is it the Master?

I was hit in the face with insecticide, but it only made my face damp; there wasn’t really a problem.

After wiping my eyes with the sleeve of my clothes, I hid Kkamang and Seol behind me.

    “Um, I’m sorry…”

I knew that people were afraid of Kkamang.

Still, I thought it would be fine as long as we were in a pet store, but Seol, with Kkamang on her head, stuck her head out the door of the store.

Anyone passing by would surely be startled to see Kkamang.

Here, it was right for me to apologize first.

    “Uh… uh…?”

“Kkamang is my friend; she’s really a good girl…”

As I rubbed my palms together as if to apologize, the woman who had been panicking began to regain her composure.

I showed her Kkamang, whom I had hidden behind me.

    “Ha…!”

The woman gasped and took a step back upon seeing Kkamang.

    Then she quickly bent down.

“I’m so, so sorry! I was just so surprised…”

“It’s okay, and I’m sorry too.”

I bowed deeply to the staff member.

“What should I do? I got insecticide on my face.”

“It shouldn’t be a problem. I was the one who rushed in there.”

A sturdy adventurer like me wouldn’t have any issues from just insecticide.

And since Kkamang was a special spider of Divine Beast level, nothing serious would have happened.

Except for my damp face, there were no problems at all.

After sending off the continuously apologizing staff member, I lifted Kkamang onto my hands.

    “Kkamang, are you okay?”

    “Ki-ki!”

She could have been sulking after being sprayed with insecticide while screaming at me, but surprisingly, Kkamang was fine.

Instead, she was bouncing around, shaking her body as if dancing.

“You seem to be in a good mood?”

    “Ki-ki!”

    I see.

Was she happy that I rushed in to save her?

Since Kkamang was in a good mood, my mood lifted as well.

“Kkamang, don’t worry too much if other people are scared of you. I think our Kkamang is the prettiest.”

    “Meow?”

“Yeah. Of course, Seol is pretty too. My family is the prettiest, incomparable to anyone else.”

I gently petted Kkamang’s back and Seol’s head.

Maybe feeling good, the two kids started running around the pet store.

    “Oh!”

The store owner flinched at the sight of Kkamang approaching her.

It seemed she was indeed very scared of Kkamang.

Just then, as I hurried to catch Kkamang, the store owner said,

    “Kkamang is so pretty.”

    She smiled happily at Kkamang.

At that delightful reaction, Kkamang’s ears perked up.

“Yes! Our Kkamang is really pretty, right?!”

“Yes. I don’t understand why people are scared of Kkamang. She’s so pretty and well-behaved.”

The store staff reached under the desk.

When her hand came back up, she was holding two red ribbons.

“I’m only giving these to really good and pretty kids, so I’ll give them to you as a gift.”

The staff member tied the ribbons around Kkamang’s belly and Seol’s neck.

The red ribbons made the two kids even prettier.

    “Wow, they’re so pretty.”

“Right? But you can’t tell anyone that you got them for free from me. Otherwise, I’ll get scolded for only treating pretty kids differently.”

    “Yes! I won’t say a word!”

Kkamang and Seol, who had been awkward about the ribbons, finally started to shake and dance when they saw me happy.

I was so grateful that Kkamang and Seol were happy because I called them pretty.

I was also thankful to the staff member who made the two kids happy.

There were indeed many kind-hearted people in the world.

Thanks to that, I was able to start my day joyfully.

    **

After buying everything I needed for the Divine Beasts, I returned home.

Thanks to Ensia carrying all the heavy loads, I was able to come back comfortably.

    “Thank you always, Ensia.”

“I’m the one who should be thanking you.”

After a light exchange, Ensia left to attend to her tasks.

Before giving the items to the Divine Beasts, I decided to check on the kids for a moment.

    “Yay!”

    “Medicine! Medicine!”

“Ha ha ha! Bring it on!”

The sounds coming from the living room made me smile involuntarily.

What were the kids doing that had them so excited?

    I hurried into the house.

    “Medicine! Medicine!”

Gaeul was spinning around with the legs of an ant doll, while Levinas was violently shaking a horned rabbit doll.

The one facing the two dolls was Bomi, holding a snake doll.

“I am the most wicked snake in the world! No one can defeat me!”

    Roar!

Bomi roared and struck the other kids’ dolls with the snake doll.

Startled, Gaeul began to spin the ant doll even faster.

    Bzzz-

Gaeul’s arms spun like a fan.

I could see the threads on the legs of the captured ant doll slowly tearing apart due to Gaeul’s rapidly spinning arms.

    “Oh.”

Was it because the legs of the ant doll were too thin?

Before I could intervene, the body of the ant doll was ripped off.

    Thud-!

The ant doll flew far away, hit the window, and fell to the floor.

The kids playing stopped, and Gaeul alternated between looking at the leg of the ant doll in her hand and the ant doll that had flown far away.

    “Ggaemmi?”

Gaeul tilted her head at the piece of the ant doll’s leg left in her hand.

After staring blankly for a while, Gaeul’s eyes gradually widened, and she screamed.

    “Ggaemmi! Ggaemiiiiiiii!”

Startled, Gaeul ran towards the ant doll.

She tried to piece together the torn-off leg, then suddenly dropped to her knees.

    “Gaeul, are you okay?”

    “Chuin! It’s broken! It’s broken!”

Gaeul held out the torn leg of the ant doll to me.

Maybe because she was excited, she couldn’t speak properly.

“Gaeul, we can sew the leg back on, so you don’t need to worry too much.”

I patted the excited Gaeul’s head.

Maybe relieved by my words that it could be fixed, Gaeul showed me the leg of the ant doll again.

    “Fix it…”

“Yeah. Just trust me. I’m good at sewing.”

I had been sewing clothes for a long time.

Sewing a doll’s leg would be easy for me.

    “Everyone, prepare for surgery.”

    “Ugh! Ready!”

I placed the ant doll and the torn-off leg on the table.

Levinas put scissors on the table, and Saebyeok came back from the kitchen with plastic gloves.

“Doctor Wanga! The ant’s condition is really bad! The threads are coming out; can we really save it?!”

Bomi’s acting made Gaeul fidget nervously.

I patted Gaeul on the chest to calm her down.

“Just trust me. I am a master of sewing surgery.”

Wearing the plastic gloves Saebyeok gave me, I threaded a needle with black thread.

I pretended to snip with the scissors for no reason.

    Swish- Swish-

Using the needle and thread, I stitched the ant’s leg back onto its body.

I made sure it was sturdy enough so it wouldn’t come off even if it was spun around.

    “Hmm…”

I held up the stitched ant doll and examined it from various angles.

Just then, Levinas, with a tense expression, approached me.

“Doctor Wanga! What happened to the ant?!”

    “Well, the sewing surgery…”

As I paused for a moment at Levinas’s question, Gaeul gulped.

I handed the ant doll to Gaeul and said,

“The sewing surgery was very successful. It’s even sturdier than before.”

    “Wow!”

Gaeul hugged the ant doll tightly.

She seemed so happy that the ant doll was fixed that she jumped up from her seat.

It was clear how tense Gaeul had been.

“You can spin it now, and the legs won’t come off. It’s sturdier than before.”

    “Really?”

    “No?”

    “Cold. Ggaemmi is spinning, right?”

Gaeul cherished the ant doll as if handling a child.

Learning to treat things with care is also important.

Seeing Gaeul happy, my tail swayed gently.

    **

In the afternoon, I moved to the Ggaemmi Guild.

But for some reason, many people were gathered at the Ggaemmi Guild.

    ‘What is this?’

This was a space where people implicitly didn’t come.

As I approached the guild, I quickly realized the reason.

“Um, can this magic stone be used to enhance weapons?”

    “Yes. It’s definitely possible.”

“I was supposed to go to the dungeon with the turtle Divine Beast today…”

    “You can go that way.”

Haneul, Betty, and even Shin Haeil.

The staff at the guild were bustling around.

    ‘Ah.’

Now this was no longer a personal space; it was a guild shared by everyone.

It was natural for adventurers to visit the guild.

    ‘Oh, there’s a sign.’

Visiting hours were from 10 AM to 3 PM.

It said they only accepted visitors for four hours, excluding lunchtime.

‘I shouldn’t just work all the time.’

Although it was a short time, Haneul was still at an age where she wanted to play.

I should consider hiring someone to handle the office work.

Just then, while I was seriously contemplating, I could hear the conversations of those waiting near the guild.

“Hey, but why does Haneul call Gyeoul ‘master’?”

    “I don’t know?”

“Is it possible that the Beastmen still have slavery? Gaeul calls her ‘master’ too.”

“Well… but the kids seem to really like Gyeoul.”

    “That’s true, but…”

Two men who looked like adventurers were questioning Gaeul and Haneul’s titles.

I knew a day like this would come, but when it actually happened right in front of me, I couldn’t help but feel flustered.

“Could it be that they’re really not slaves…?”

“Come on, even so, it’s Gyeoul.”

“I want to believe that too, but what does ‘master’ even mean?”

I approached the two men who were talking.

I didn’t know what to say, but I wanted to clear up the misunderstanding.

    “Um…”

Maybe they didn’t expect me to be nearby, as the two men looked startled and looked down at me.

How could I explain to them so they would understand the title of ‘master’?

As my ears and tail drooped, the two men hurriedly waved their hands.

    “Winter, that’s not it…!”

    “I was just a little curious…”

    “Yes… but you know…”

    How should I explain this?

I looked up at them for a while, just wiggling my fingers.
