509 – Supplies Needed for the Shelter

Levinas ran around us, collecting the protest signs from the sketchbook.

After crumpling the sign and putting it in his pocket, Levinas rushed over to Jeong Yuna and clung to her leg.

“Just leave Levinas’s swimming pool playground alone…!”

    “Le, Levinas…?”

    “Levinas’s dreamlike playground…!”

    Sob, sob.

    Levinas made a crying sound.

It seemed that Jeong Yuna really intended to get rid of the swimming pool playground.

    “I won’t protest again…! Please, just the playground…!”

Levinas pleaded, hanging onto Jeong Yuna’s leg.

Gaeul rolled over and moved to cling to Jeong Yuna’s other leg.

    “Gaeul-ik…”

“Hey, kids, this is just a game, a game!”

A startled Jeong Yuna calmed the children down.

Then Levinas looked up at Jeong Yuna and blinked.

    “Yes! Levinas is also playing!”

    “Was Levinas also playing?”

    How could this be?

Everyone had been fooled by Levinas’s acting.

“How did you know it was Levinas acting?”

“Isn’t it impossible for Magician Yuna to take something precious from Levinas?!”

    “Ah.”

    That was true.

Thanks to the trust among family, they figured out it was a game.

I scratched the back of my head awkwardly.

“But Magician Yuna, what kind of game is it that takes away the swimming pool playground?”

“Don’t you know what Levinas’s protest is?”

    “I do! A protest is an opinion… an opinion… a strong opinion…?!”

    “You have a rough idea.”

Jeong Yuna chuckled and patted Levinas’s head.

Then she explained what had just happened.

“Levinas protested to express his opinion, right?”

    “Yes! That’s right!”

“And to avoid listening to that, they’re threatening by taking away what Levinas likes.”

    “What?!”

Surprised by the unexpected statement, Levinas opened his Rabbit eyes wide.

He seemed to be deep in thought.

“Then is protesting a bad thing?!”

“Well… it’s not bad, but it’s difficult. It’s hard to find a compromise, and pressure can come in like this.”

    “Hmm…”

Levinas tilted his head back and forth.

Protesting must still be quite difficult for him.

However, it wasn’t bad that he could learn to protest, even in a small way, like this.

    **

We finished the protest game and moved to the guild building.

But for some reason, in front of the guild building, people were bustling about.

“Wasn’t truck number one carrying drinking water?”

“No, truck number one has convenience food.”

    “Huh? Then…”

Several people from the guild were moving around in front of multiple trucks.

    Among them was Yoo Sang-ah.

    Curious, I approached Yoo Sang-ah.

When I poked her back, she turned around.

    “Gyeoul?”

“Yes, it’s me. What are you doing?”

“We’re going to support the shelter.”

    “Support?”

What is a shelter, and why are we supporting it?

    Yoo Sang-ah answered my question.

“The guild calculated that a Higher Dungeon would be coming out soon. But it happens to be in an apartment complex.”

“Ah… so it’s to evacuate because it could be dangerous.”

“Yes. Instead of clearing the dungeon and taking the profits, we’re supporting the shelter.”

    I see.

    It’s mutual assistance.

If we just ignore the citizens and take the dungeon, the image would only worsen.

Seeing the guild’s new task sparked my curiosity.

I was curious about how they would evacuate people and clear the dungeon.

And it seemed our kids felt the same way.

“I want to try this too.”

“Do you want to try it, Bomi?”

“Yes. If our Ggaemmi Guild is going to be the best guild in the world, we need to know how to do things like this.”

    “That’s true.”

It was impressive how Bomi showed such seriousness whenever she was playful.

She was quite sincere about growing the guild.

“Then should the Ggaemmi Guild support too?”

    “Huh? Is that okay?”

“Yes. We would appreciate the help.”

Yoo Sang-ah said she would call a truck and told us to fill it with the necessary items.

She added that the costs would be covered by the guild after clearing the dungeon.

    “Hmm…”

What would the people in the shelter need?

While I pondered, Saebyeok approached me.

“Gyeoul, what are the essential items when living in a tent?”

    “In a tent… ah…!”

    Since it was a shelter.

    The situation probably wasn’t great.

I decided to prepare a minimum survival kit for those in the shelter.

    ‘Fire, warm blankets…’

Thinking of items for the people in the shelter, I looked back at the kids.

I didn’t want to decide what to give them all by myself.

What mattered here was the growth of the kids.

“What is everyone going to bring?”

“Levinas is bringing a chocolate doll!”

    “Wow, that’s a great idea.”

Sweet treats relieve stress, and dolls provide emotional comfort.

It would soothe the hearts of those who were chased out of their homes by the dungeon.

    “What about Gaeul?”

    “Ggaemmi!”

Gaeul proudly held out an ant.

She had been next to me, but when did she pick up an ant?

I knew Gaeul liked ants, but unfortunately, it wasn’t what we needed this time.

“Hmm… Gaeul, is there anything else besides the ant?”

    “…Lemon?”

“Lemon sounds good. Then let’s take lemons and other fruits.”

    “Wow…!”

    Gaeul’s tail wagged excitedly.

Even though Gaeul had a scary Lethal Lemon, she knew there were lemons for people.

    “What about Saebyeok?”

    “I’m bringing fish.”

“To bring it fresh, you’ll need an icebox.”

    “Yes.”

Everyone was preparing items based on what they liked.

They probably had that pure heart that if they liked something, others would like it too.

I sincerely hoped that the people in the shelter would appreciate the items the kids prepared.

    **

Since the shelter was suddenly established, the preparations were also sudden.

We ran around the neighborhood with the card Yoo Sang-ah gave us.

“This time, let’s go to that hardware store.”

“Wanga, Levinas will go get some chocolate over there!”

“Okay. Can you make some fruit when you come back?”

    “Yes! I’ll do it!”

While preparing the necessary items for the shelter, I realized a few things.

In such a sudden situation, teamwork was the most important.

Fortunately, teamwork was one of our greatest strengths.

    “Saebyeok, can you lift this?”

“Yes. I’ll lift this all and go buy fish.”

Thanks to the kids acting like professionals in serious situations, we quickly filled one truck.

As a result, even though we started late, we were able to match the timing with the other trucks.

    “Is the Ggaemmi Guild ready?”

    “Yes. We’re all set.”

“Wow, Ggaemmi is faster than Yeomyeong?”

My tail wagged at Yoo Sang-ah’s considerate voice.

Hehe, while I smiled looking up at Yoo Sang-ah, Bomi approached her.

“Can we visit the shelter directly? I want to see how our items are used.”

“Yes. Of course. Checking it out in person is one of the important things.”

We took Yoo Sang-ah’s car to the shelter.

I wanted to teach the people in the shelter some simple survival methods.

With that expectation, I arrived at the shelter and couldn’t help but freeze.

    “Shelter…?”

The shelter was neither a tent, a container house, nor a huge auditorium where people gathered and set up tents.

It was several apartment buildings that could be called homes.

The shelter in this world was far more luxurious than I had imagined.

    “Is that… the shelter?”

I asked Yoo Sang-ah for confirmation.

She nodded with a gentle smile.

“Yes. It’s a common occurrence. The government has set up residential shelters by region.”

    “Ah…”

Since this world has dungeons and monsters.

It was only natural that the evacuation system was more developed than the world I lived in.

    “Ugh.”

I was relieved that people could stay in a cozier place, but I found myself kneeling in despair.

The tools for starting a fire and items to keep warm.

I had brought supplies for survival, but they were all useless here.

I thought that among our kids, the items I brought might be the most useless.

    “Gyeoul…?”

Yoo Sang-ah squatted down beside me.

Seeing a perfectly fine person suddenly collapse in despair would naturally cause concern.

I knew Yoo Sang-ah was worried, but all I could do now was ask questions.

“Is there a tool for starting a fire inside…?”

“We don’t have gas, but we have induction, so cooking is possible.”

“Is it cold when you sleep…?”

“Yes. There are soft beds and blankets. There’s a boiler for heating too.”

    “………”

Everything I prepared was already there.

I lay on the floor for a long time.

Then, I slowly turned my head to the side at the sound of a truck.

A truck filled with tools for starting fires and warm sleeping items was parking.

For those in the shelter, it was the most useless item.

    “Sob, sob.”

I began to understand why Levinas sometimes made crying sounds.
