494 – Who is the Master?

494 – Who is the Master?

I waited for the Masters to arrive like a sinner.

Bomi also seemed to realize her mistake, waiting for the Masters with a repentant expression.

“Bom, make sure to apologize when the Masters arrive, okay?”

    “Yeah. I got it.”

As Bomi and I spent time in penitence, it wasn’t long before the Masters entered the building.

The Masters’ hands were full of magic stones from level three monsters.

    “Master! Mission completed!”

Master Chae Joo-yeon saluted with a playful smile.

Though she didn’t seem particularly angry, I decided to apologize sincerely.

    “I’m sorry… I made a mistake while studying this…”

“It’s okay, it brought back old memories.”

    “Old memories?”

“Yeah. We used to party as a trio like this in the old days.”

Master Chae Joo-yeon said, looking back at the other two Masters.

To think they used to party as a trio in the past.

Just as I was about to listen to this story I’d never heard before, Bomi approached the three Masters.

“This is all my fault. I’m sorry.”

“Oh my, it was Bomi’s fault?”

“Yeah. I clicked a few times and it got submitted. I’ll be more careful next time.”

Master Chae Joo-yeon smiled at Bomi’s straightforward apology.

Our Master also seemed to approve of Bomi’s apology, quietly nodding.

    “Everyone makes mistakes at first!”

Master Park Tae-san laughed heartily as he sat down on a nearby chair.

Given Master Park Tae-san’s large build, the chair looked completely filled.

    “Phew.”

I let out a sigh of relief at the Masters’ forgiveness.

Gaeul approached beside me and thrust out her chest towards the Masters.

Not knowing what she meant by this, both the Masters and I were puzzled.

    “Gaeul, what are you doing?”

    “Haejang! Gaeuli haejang!”

Gaeul extended her hand towards the Masters.

It seemed like she wanted to shake hands.

Master Park Tae-san, though confused, took Gaeul’s hand and shook it up and down.

    “Hangover soup?!”

    “Huh?”

    Hangover soup, really.

I decided to explain on behalf of Gaeul, who had trouble pronouncing.

    “She means ‘president’.”

“Ah! President! So you’re the president!”

    Hahaha.

As Master Park Tae-san laughed heartily, Gaeul smiled with her eyes.

Gaeul turned to me with a somewhat proud expression.

    “Juin, Gaeulig igu.”

    “This?”

    “Yep. Iguhagdo.”

    Gaeul mimicked shaking hands.

After pondering for a moment, I realized what she meant.

“Alliance… you formed an alliance, huh?”

    “Yep. Gaeuli haejang.”

As the president, did she initiate an alliance with the Tae-san Guild?

I checked to see if Gaeul had licked the emerald gem, but it didn’t seem like she had.

“Gaeul, that’s amazing. I hadn’t even thought of an alliance.”

    “Hek…!”

I looked at Gaeul’s gently swaying tail before looking up at the Master.

I decided to propose an alliance to the Masters as Gaeul had suggested.

“Master, let’s form an alliance between our guilds.”

“I wonder what benefits there would be in an alliance between our Holy Guild and the Ggaemmi Guild?”

    Benefits…

As I pondered Master Chae Joo-yeon’s playful question, Levinas approached her with a carrot.

“If we form an alliance, you get unlimited carrots!”

    “Gasp, unlimited carrots?”

Master Chae Joo-yeon hurriedly took Gaeul’s hand.

Gaeul then offered a lemon to Master Chae Joo-yeon.

    “Iggu! Lemungdu!”

    “Wow, you’re giving lemons too?”

I grabbed Master Chae Joo-yeon’s wrist as she reached for the lemon.

Gaeul’s lemons were potentially lethal weapons, so consuming them unknowingly could be disastrous.

    “Gyeoul?”

“Um, the lemon is not okay…”

    “Why not?”

“Gaeul’s lemons have an extremely high acidity…”

    “Aren’t all lemons like that?”

I answered Master Chae Joo-yeon’s question with a quite serious expression.

“The acidity is so high it could be fatal.”

“Is, is it really that bad…?”

Master Chae Joo-yeon slowly withdrew her hand.

Seeing this, Gaeul quickly shook her head.

    “Anya.”

    “It’s not?”

    “Yep.”

Gaeul peeled the lemon, fidgeting with her small hands.

The lemon juice dripped down, but Gaeul’s hands were unharmed.

    “Nom.”

Gaeul took a bite of the lemon and scrunched up her face.

My ears twitched nervously with worry, but fortunately, it seemed to be a normal lemon.

“Gyeoul, you have trouble with sour foods, huh?”

    “Well, that’s…”

Thanks to this, I earned a small misunderstanding from Master Chae Joo-yeon.

Of course, it didn’t take long for the misunderstanding to be cleared up.

    **

There were now few who debated who was the strongest among all-time adventurers.

Anyone who knew the adventurer ecosystem would name Kang Jinho.

Kang Jinho and his Dawn Guild had risen to an unassailable position this year.

That’s why those who liked to rank adventurers would discuss second place rather than first.

-Who is the second strongest adventurer?

-How do the rankings below Dawn look?

From second place down to the lowest-ranked guilds.

Various guilds rose and fell repeatedly on statistics sites, but Dawn always maintained the top spot.

It seemed like no guild would be able to beat Dawn for about ten years.

Many adventurers came to think this way on a certain day.

On a domestic blog famous for accurately ranking adventurers and guilds from around the world, something surprising happened.

    【1. Ggaemmi】

    【2. Dawn】

One guild had overtaken the Dawn Guild to claim first place.

Visitors to the blog doubted their eyes.

    [Ggaemmi???]

    [What’s Ggaemmi??]

Due to the blog’s high credibility, many people searched for the Ggaemmi Guild, but there were no activity records.

    [What’s going on?]

[Blog owner, why are you suddenly playing around?]

As many people protested in the comments, the blog owner appeared and left a comment directly.

[The Ggaemmi Guild is a newly created guild.]

A newly created guild with no activity.

How could it have risen to first place?

Just as distrust in the blog was growing, a shocking post from the blog owner appeared.

[As you know, I’m in a position to hear various stories as an industry insider. That’s how I heard about the Ggaemmi Guild. But the guild members here are extraordinary.]

Many key figures from Kang Jinho and the Dawn Guild.

Park Tae-san, Chae Joo-yeon, the Magicians’ Association President, and even Jeffrey.

People doubted the truth of the claim that these well-known adventurers belonged to this guild.

[I even heard that the Beastmen from the Beastmen village connect with the human world through this guild.]

[??? What kind of guild is this??]

[If that’s true, it deserves to be first, but honestly it sounds like a lie lol]

[How can Kang Jinho belong there? Isn’t dual guild membership not allowed?]

[└Is there anything Kang Jinho can’t do? lol]

It was hard to believe, but the issue was the blog owner’s credibility.

As an industry insider, he was known for posting information on his blog even faster than reporters.

If this was true, it could overturn the landscape of the adventurer industry.

    ‘Ggaemmi Guild… it exists.’

Some quick-witted individuals began to uncover information about the Ggaemmi Guild.

Jeong Yuna from the Dawn Guild was the representative, and just a day ago, they had sent Kang Jinho, Chae Joo-yeon, and Park Tae-san to a level three dungeon.

‘What did they do in the dungeon?’

Surely the three Masters didn’t just go to clear a level three dungeon together amicably.

There must be something more to it.

Although Jeong Yuna was listed as the guild representative, people didn’t believe it.

There must be someone hidden behind the scenes.

However, whether intentionally concealed by the guild or not, they simply couldn’t find out.

Even the Adventurers’ Association was keeping tight-lipped.

Among those who couldn’t bear the frustration, some who were acquainted with Kang Jinho asked him directly.

“Um, Master? There’s been a rumor going around about a certain guild…”

    “…Rumors spread so quickly.”

    Tsk.

Seeing Kang Jinho click his tongue, many thought:

So the post on the blog was true.

“…Is it perhaps a guild you created, Master?”

“No, I’m just a guild member. There’s a separate Master.”

    “What…?”

A guild that had Kang Jinho as just a regular member.

What kind of guild could it be?

Shin Hae-il, the granddaughter of the Item Guild Master who was meeting with Kang Jinho, decided to ask directly, risking rudeness.

“Is the Guild Master a secret?”

“It’s not a secret, we’re just delaying the public announcement as much as possible.”

    “Ah…”

So they’re trying to prevent bugs from swarming.

Am I a bug to Kang Jinho?

As Shin Hae-il was watching Kang Jinho’s expression, he spoke.

    “…Want me to tell you?”

    “What?! Is that okay?”

Shin Hae-il couldn’t help but raise her voice.

Her heart swelled with expectation that her grandfather, the Master, would give her a big reward for such an achievement.

And Kang Jinho accurately caught onto Shin Hae-il’s emotions.

Though she was said to be a future talent, she still lacked too much worldly experience.

    “I could tell you, but… hmm…”

Kang Jinho deliberately paused and observed Shin Hae-il.

A young woman mentioned as the next Item Master.

The reason Kang Jinho specifically met with her was for the children’s sake.

What the children, who were just starting to blossom, needed was a young capable person to share their future with.

    **

    “Juin ggaemmi! Juin ggaemmi!”

    “Huh?”

We took a break from guild work to play with the children in the park.

Gaeul picked up an ant that was crawling on the ground.

    “Is it a queen ant?”

    “No!”

If it’s not a queen ant, I wonder what it could be.

I tilted my head and examined the ant Gaeul was holding out.

    “Aggi ggaemmi!”

    Ta-da-

On Gaeul’s outstretched palm, an ant even smaller than a grain was crawling.

It was so tiny it could be called a baby ant.

    “Huh?”

    It’s not a queen ant.

Why is it a baby ant?

As I was staring intently at the ant crawling on Gaeul’s palm, it happened.

    “Um…”

A woman wearing baggy engineer pants approached us.

She was gaping at us with her mouth open.

For some reason, she had a bewildered expression.
