Chapter 67 – Field Boss, and After That

I sat up in bed, swinging my short legs back and forth slowly.

Smooth hair cascaded past my shoulders.

This space feels familiar. As the realization dawns, sunlight streaming through the window makes me squint.

I closed my eyes and sink into the thoughts.

Why did I wake up here?

Why are my memories from just before I fell asleep so hazy? My mind drifts deeper as fragmented memories begin to resurface.

The more time passes, the clearer the memories become. The first thing I realize is that, before my memory cut off, I wasn’t lying in bed trying to sleep.

As that thought comes to me, other memories flood in—an ordinary morning, a pleasant meal, watching the Return Guild’s boss raid, and then our party joining the fight.

I blankly touched my chin. I remember participating in the raid, but everything beyond that is foggy, as if obscured by mist.

Could I have been hit by the boss during the raid?

It’s not impossible. If I took a powerful blow and was on the verge of death, passing out wouldn’t be unusual.

But considering I’m alive and completely unharmed, it seems the rest of the party handled the aftermath well.

Just as I step off the bed and start stretching, a cautious knock sounds from behind the firmly shut door.

    Knock— Knock—

It’s not the heavy knock of an adult. It’s unmistakably the sound of tiny hands tapping—probably little girl.

The image makes a natural smile rise to my lips.

    “Supreme~?”
    “Supreme, are you awake?”

The inn’s door can’t be opened from the outside.

I walked over slowly and open it.

    There was three girls.

Isolin, Gladie, and Nyongmom. As if they’d been waiting for the door to open, they rush inside the moment it does.

The three girls immediately started to  inspecting my body.

    “Are you okay?”
“Does it hurt anywhere? I heard there could be after effects…”

Their fussing deepens my smile. I nod, exaggeratingly moving my arms and legs.

    “I’m fine. Perfectly fine.”

This system confirmed it my condition is completely normal, just like always.

Once they’re sure I’m unharmed, the three girls climbed onto my bed and sited down.

I pulled up a small chair and sited facing them.

None of them couldn’t reach the floor while being at the top of the bed.

Watching Isolin’s white feet swing back and forth, I ask:

“Hey, Isolin. What happened with our raid? Did we succeed?”

Now that I know I’m unharmed, I’m curious about whether we defeated the boss.

The reason I lost my memory must be related to something that happened during the fight.

“Do you really don’t remember what happened?”

Isolin tilts her head at my question. Her pink twin-tails peek out from under her large pointed hat.

    “Nope.”

I shaked my head, and Isolin  started explaining.

“The raid itself went smoothly. The boss didn’t have any unusual patterns, so it was pretty relaxed. You remember that, right?”

    “Hmm…”

I noded. Her words trigger a vague memory. She’s right—the raid itself was uneventful.

“The problem came later. When the boss’s HP dropped below a certain point, a sudden new pattern appeared.”

It’s common in RPGs for bosses to unleash new attacks at low health. Isolin continues:

“Boss charged attack—really fast. And the first target was you.”

    “Me…?”

“Yeah. You have no idea how shocked we were. When your body got flung into the air and started spinning, I thought my heart would stop.”

So, I was hit by the boss and sent flying, losing consciousness mid-air. At least I passed out before feeling any pain.

    “What happened after?”

“Everyone was stunned. But you were still alive. Nyongmom rushed over and fed you a potion to stabilize you.”

    “Hmm…”

“It’s weird, though. You drank the potion and suddenly sat up. You don’t remember that?”

I try to recall, but nothing comes to mind.

As I hesitate, Gladie suddenly raises her hand.

    “Maybe it was sheer willpower?”

    “What do you mean?”

“Supreme is a priest with strong sense of responsibility and mental fortitude, right? So, you couldn’t collapse until the raid was over. Like, your subconscious took over…”

Gladie trails off, embarrassed when no one responds.

    I nod, crossing my arms.

“That could be it. I am an exceptional priestess, after all. So, what happened next?”

Isolin and Gladie eagerly continue the story.

The sudden boss pattern, the chaos of adapting to it, and then—White Lion’s death.

    “White Lion… died?”

It felt like a discordant note in a quiet melody. I couldn’t understand.

White Lion—a level 50 warrior. He had a priest backing him up. There was no way he should’ve died.

Isolin answers my question with a nod.

“Yeah. White Lion was killed by the boss, and Nyongmom took over aggro. Everyone was shocked, but… we still had to finish the raid.”

    “And after that?”

“It went smoothly. The boss died, and the loot dropped. You collapsed again, which was a bit scary, but…”

“What about the other Return Guild members?”

“They went straight back to their inn rooms. They didn’t even claim the loot, so White Lion’s death must’ve really shaken them.”

I nod. A leader’s sudden death would destabilize any guild, especially one like Return, which had just started reorganizing.

Isolin then starts pulling items from her inventory—the drops from the field boss, Green Tail.

    [Green Tail]

    • Level Requirement: 40
    • Class Restriction: Priest
    • Physical Attack +7
    • Magic Attack +7
    • Holy Attribute Additional Damage +5
    • Mana Regeneration per Second +25
    • Healing Power +40
50% chance to increase healing skill level by +2 when using healing skills
Healing skill mana cost increased by 30%
      -So green it looks poisonous-
-A wyvern’s tail ripped off by a priest-

    [Suppressed Wings]

    • Level Requirement: 40
    • Class Restriction: Mage
    • Magic Attack +30
    • All Attribute Additional Damage +5
    • Wind Attribute Additional Damage +5
    • Wind-attribute spells trigger an additional cast
    • Wind-attribute spell damage reduced by 35%
-It cannot fly, but its wind is razor-sharp-

The items Isolin shows are a mace for priests and a staff for mages. Honestly, I’m tempted. The stats are incredible, as expected from a field boss drop.

As I stare blankly, Isolin asks:

“What should we do? Just take them?”

Her eyes sparkled with desire for the new weapon. But I shaked my head.

    “No, Isolin.”

Before the raid, White Lion and I agreed to distribute loot fairly. Even though he’s gone now, that promise still stands.

I stand up. White Lion’s death is shocking, but I don’t feel much about it—probably because I didn’t see it happen.

Leaving the inn room, I head to where the Return Guild members are staying. After knocking, I gather them. Their mood is somber.

    “What’s the matter?”

The one who steps forward is a player named Climb, a level 42 priest. His expression is grim.

I take out the items Isolin handed me.

“We still need to distribute the boss drops.”

    “Ah…”

He nods, as if just remembering. I explain the method White Lion had suggested.

“He said we should distribute fairly. We’ll roll dice. Any objections?”

    “No.”

“How should we roll? Once per item? Or combine both?”

“Let’s do it all at once…”

Climb is decisive. I summon two small dice from the system menu.

    “I’ll go first.”

The tiny dice tumble from my hand. When they stop, translucent numbers appear above them.

    Dice Result: 99

    “Wow…”
    “Ugh…”

A mix of awe and disappointment fills the air. Rolling a 99 out of 100 means the items are practically ours unless the opponent gets incredibly lucky.

Climb rolls with an even darker expression.

    Roll— Roll—

    The dice stop.

    Dice Result: 76

After collecting the items, I quietly leave the inn. Isolin follows, grinning widely.

    “Hehe…”

Then, Nyongmom hesitantly approaches. She seems to have something to say but hesitates.

I turn to the tiny fairy girl.

    “What is it, Nyongmom?”

    “Um… it’s just…”
    “Yes?”
    “You’re really Supreme… right?”

The question catches me off guard. I tilt my head, studying her. Then, a mischievous idea strikes.

I step closer and whisper in her ear:

    “Actually… no.”

    “Gasp…!”

She jumps back, shoulders trembling. I burst out laughing.

    “Just kidding. It’s really me.”
