Ch. 63 The Mysterious Adventure of the Sky Islands
by AfuhfuihgsChapter 63 – The Mysterious Adventure of the Sky Islands
Nyongmom knew—even without checking the sword’s stats—that this weapon surpassed everything he’d ever wielded before.
It felt like an extension of his own arm. The icy blade responded to his movements as if it were part of him.
He swung.
The razor-sharp edge of winter sliced through tough hide, flesh, and bone with terrifying ease.
The sword was that powerful.
He slung his shield onto his back, gripping the sword with both hands. His stance shifted—pure offense.
He didn’t need to worry about defense anymore.
His friends were coming.
Nyongmom charged forward, his small feet kicking up snow as he dashed.
“Nyongmom!”
“Supreme!”
Just as he pushed back a Snow Gorilla, familiar voices rang out behind him.
Nyongmom didn’t turn—he didn’t need to. He knew they were here.
A warm, soothing energy wrapped around him—[Divine Healing]. His HP surged, the swelling in his face receding as his vision cleared.
His body felt lighter, faster.
Support fire rained down—spells and arrows whittling away the gorillas’ health.
Nyongmom didn’t waste the opportunity.
He lunged, his blade carving through weakened monsters with brutal efficiency.
Fire erupted in bursts. Wind scattered snow in flurries.
The gorillas’ focus wavered—their aggro unstable.
Then—
THUD!
Nyongmom stomped the ground, sending a shockwave through the snow.
“HYAAAAH!”
[Battle Cry]
A taunt skill that forced all enemies to target him.
Once, this would have been a guttural roar from a monstrous man.
Now?
A cute, high-pitched shout from a tiny fairy knight.
But the effect was the same.
Every gorilla turned to him.
The fight ended swiftly.
When Nyongmom’s final slash bisected the last gorilla.
After that he finally let out a long breath.
Steam rose from his overheated body as he panted.
Finding Nyongmom has been pure luck.
A monster’s roar. The scent of blood on the wind.
When we first spotted him, his condition was dire—no weapon, HP nearly depleted.
No time for hesitation.
I immediately sent a trade request and handed over a greatsword I’d been saving.
The choice was perfect.
With a weapon in hand, Nyukmam carved through the monsters like butter, buying us enough time to reach him.
The rest of the fight? Smooth.
Having a skilled tank changed everything. Nyongmom held aggro effortlessly, his relentless offense keeping enemies locked onto him.
No retreat. No wasted movements.
A true professional.
“You’re all safe.”
His first words after the battle. His gaze flickered between us, his fingers twitching—as if fighting the urge to reach out.
I didn’t make him wait.
I grabbed his small, bloodstained hand.
“I’m glad you’re okay. Are you hurt anywhere?”
Our top tank had to be in top condition.
Isolin and Gladie crowded around, fussing over him.
We exchanged stories—all similar. A pillar of light. Waking up in unfamiliar places.
Meeting Liza had been pure luck.
“Found all your friends?” Liza asked, arms crossed, grinning.
I nodded. “Thanks to you.”
With Nyongmom back, our party was complete.
But one problem remained—how do we leave the Sky Islands?
Fairy dust to negate fall damage? Buying a Skyhawk? Finding a hidden warp portal?
For now, escape wasn’t the priority.
Growth was.
With no other players around, we had these hunting grounds all to ourselves.
If we grinded hard enough, we could catch up to the top-tier players.
And that was the plan.
The next morning, we set out early.
The bridge of clouds led us to a massive mountain—a rarity in this floating world.
Monsters here ranged from Lv. 35 to 40, mostly beasts.
Not ideal for Nyongmom (now Lv. 40+), but perfect for the rest of us, freshly past Lv. 30.
Close to town. Plenty of spawns.
An ideal grinding spot.
At the mountain’s base, Nyongmom drew his sword.
“Let’s start hunting?”
He looked ready to bolt forward.
“Go easy at first. We need to gauge their strength.”
The moment I finished speaking—
WHOOSH!
Nyongmom blitzed ahead.
We scrambled after him.
The first monsters we encountered?
[Lv. 36 – Booming Tail Lizards]
Their whip-like tails smashed craters into the ground.
One hit would flatten me.
“Attack!”
Nyongmom pulled five lizards at once.
Isolin’s spells and Gladie’s arrows rained down.
I used [Void Gaze]—a skill that incapacitated multiple enemies in one go.
But there was a catch.
I had to make eye contact.
Which meant I had to constantly reposition, avoiding Nyongmom’s line of sight.
If our eyes met mid-battle?
Disaster.
I kept moving, dodging Nyongmom’s occasional backward glances.
This was going to be a long grind.
