    Chapter 99

Godwin, the butler of the Norchell family.

He was sitting in an armchair in the drawing room, quietly turning the pages of a book.

The fireplace flickered softly, and the setting sun painted the western sky red, filling the room with twilight.

Godwin lifted a steaming teacup and slowly took a sip.

His eyes remained fixed on the book.

—…The woman began to unbutton her dress. The woman’s skin, shyly revealed, was as white and soft as silk bathed in moonlight.

    Godwin inhaled sharply.

    His eyes narrowed in concentration.

—…Finally, the woman’s dress slipped off her shoulders and fell gently to the floor, her soft, voluptuous curves exposed under the pale light…

    “Godwin!”

Just then, the drawing room door burst open.

    Godwin’s brow furrowed deeply.

    “…What is it?”

The person who opened the drawing room door was a servant working in the mansion.

“There’s a little kid looking for Godwin.”

    “A kid?”

    “A very cute little kid.”

    “A woman?”

“A woman… rather, a girl. She looks to be about ten years old at most.”

    “A woman, then.”

    “…”

    “Cute, you say?”

“A very pretty little kid. She also has a cute fairy on her shoulder.”

“I want to see her immediately.”

Godwin straightened his clothes and smoothed his hair.

“What does she want me for?”

“I don’t know. She came straight here saying she wanted to meet the Norchell family’s old butler. The one with the flexible waist.”

“…Did a woman actually say those words?”

“She’s a bit of a strange kid. She threatened to break down the door and turn the mansion upside down if I didn’t let her meet Godwin. And she also said she’d fold Godwin’s waist in half.”

    “Heh heh.”

    Godwin smiled gently.

“A possessive type, is she? Charming. Bring her in immediately.”

    “…Yes.”

“Prepare some cookies and tea too.”

    “Understood…”

    “Come in.”

Guided by the servant, Lucy entered the Norchell family’s mansion.

Finding the Norchell family’s mansion wasn’t particularly difficult.

She just grabbed someone passing by and asked, and they immediately told her the location of the mansion.

A moment later, the servant stopped in front of the drawing room and said.

“Godwin is in this room. He’s a bit strange, but that’s just how he is, so please understand.”

    “Yes.”

Lucy opened the drawing room door and entered.

    “…You’ve arrived.”

Godwin was leaning back in his armchair, smiling gently.

“Oh my, indeed a very beautiful woman. More radiant than the stars in the night sky….”

“You’re the Norchell family’s old butler, right?”

    Godwin’s smile faltered slightly.

“Well… I do sometimes consider my age, but ultimately, age is just a number. Especially since love is the resonance of two souls, the age of the body is merely….”

Lucy plopped down on the sofa.

Her legs were short, so her feet dangled slightly in the air.

    “Finn.”

Finn poked her head out from Lucy’s clothes and said.

    “I want to eat that.”

Finn was pointing at the cookies on the table.

Lucy reached out, grabbed a cookie, cut off a small piece for Finn.

Then she put the rest in her mouth, chewed, and looked back at Godwin.

    “Where’s Ian?”

    “Heh heh.”

    Godwin smiled politely.

“You’ve come to find Ian. May I ask what your relationship with Ian is?”

“We’re not related at all. Just people from the same village.”

“I see. That’s a relief. I’m in charge of Ian.”

    “In charge?”

    “To be precise, it’s confinement.”

    “Why are you confining Ian?”

“That I cannot say. It is to protect your pure soul, so please understand….”

    “Let Ian go.”

“…I’m sorry, but that’s impossible. But it won’t be long. I will return Ian safely in a month. If you don’t believe me, shall we make a pinky promise?”

Godwin slowly extended his pinky finger.

“The moment our fingers intertwine, fate will prove our connection. This promise may become an act symbolizing trust, or even more, between us….”

“Let him go right now. Or a dragon might come.”

    “Haha…”

    Godwin touched his forehead.

    “Really… such a lovely imagination….”

Godwin folded his hands neatly in his lap and tapped his fingertips on the back of his hand.

“A dragon… perhaps you are a creature who has stepped out of a fairy tale. Pure, innocent, and with lips that let even dangerous words flow like flower petals….”

    “It’s true.”

“Of course, it would be. The imagination of a young soul sometimes holds the truth.”

Godwin’s gaze at Lucy became sticky.

“That’s why… you are someone who must be protected….”

    Lucy sighed quietly.

The servant said he might be a bit strange, but he wasn’t just a bit strange, he was incredibly strange.

“I’d like to resolve this with words if possible.”

At Lucy’s words, Godwin approached Lucy with an elegant smile.

“…Perhaps words are no longer necessary between us.”

Godwin gently took Lucy’s small hand.

“I am already deeply drawn to you….”

He slowly brought his lips to the back of Lucy’s hand.

    “And you are the same….”

    That was the moment.

    Whoosh!

Black smoke billowed from behind Godwin.

    “Cough…! P-Please, save me…!”

The drawing room was in chaos.

The armchair that Godwin loved to sit in was shattered, and the surrounding vases were broken on the floor, scattered haphazardly.

Godwin was bleeding and crawling on the floor.

    “S-Save me… please save me…!”

Someone grabbed Godwin by the collar and lifted him up.

An undead knight in black armor.

    It was Darcan.

“How dare you touch our master with those filthy hands?”

Darcan slapped Godwin across the cheek.

That alone sent Godwin sprawling to the floor, spitting blood.

It was quite a noisy situation, but Lucy was just sitting on the sofa with an indifferent expression.

Finn had also slipped out of Lucy’s clothes and was munching on the cookies on the table.

    “P-Please, someone help me…!”

    Godwin cried out desperately.

Usually, when this much commotion occurred, someone would come to check, but strangely, no one came to the drawing room.

It was because Lucy had cast a skill.

    [Silent Barrier]

A skill that blocks all sounds and wavelengths within a certain range.

Thanks to this, the sounds coming from the drawing room were not leaking out at all.

The hallway in front of the drawing room was just silent.

While Darcan was taking care of Godwin, Lucy got up and picked up a book that had fallen on the floor.

It was the book that had been on the armchair earlier.

The book’s title was “The Last Button.”

    A novel, perhaps?

    Lucy opened the book.

—…The woman smiled shyly. Opening the door to one’s heart was always the moment the last button was unfastened.

    A sentimental feeling.

She turned to the next page.

—…Each time a button was unfastened, his gaze fell lower and lower, and the woman’s breath tickled the ribbon of her undergarment.

    Lucy’s eyebrows slowly rose.

    The next page.

—…Finally, the moment the last button fell, the woman said, “Now, you may taste me.”

    “……”

    Lucy silently closed the book.

    And looked towards Godwin.

Darcan was grabbing him by the collar and violently pushing him against the wall.

“Master, may I kill this bastard half to death?”

    At Darcan’s words, Lucy nodded.

    “Do as you please.”

    “Thank you.”

Godwin’s screams began to echo in the drawing room.

Lucy glanced at Finn, then quietly hid the book in her bosom.

    A while later.

Godwin was sprawled on the floor, looking half out of his mind.

His smoothly styled hair was disheveled like a bird’s nest, his shirt was tattered, and his shoes were off.

    He trembled intermittently, muttering.

    “S-Save me, please save me….”

Lucy judged that this was enough and sent Darcan back.

She approached Godwin again and asked.

    “Why did you confine Ian?”

    This time, Godwin answered immediately.

    “F-For the young master’s sake….”

    “Young master?”

“T-The young master I serve… the heir of the Norchell family….”

“What does the young master have to do with Ian?”

“That’s… if Ian is here, the young master….”

    That was the moment.

    Thump, thump, thump!

Someone knocked on the drawing room door and shouted.

—Godwin! I know what you’ve done! Open this door right now!!

“In the end… the young master found out….”

Godwin said that much and dropped his head.

    He seemed to have fainted.

    Thump, thump, thump!

—Open the door right now!! I’ll break it down if you don’t open it!!

Lucy sighed and went to open the door.

    Creak.

A handsome blond young man was standing in front of the door.

“…Huh? Who are you? Where’s Godwin?”

Lucy peeked out and looked left and right in the hallway outside the drawing room.

    No one was there.

    “Come in for now.”

At Lucy’s words, the young man cautiously stepped inside.

Lucy quietly closed the drawing room door.

Click, the sound of the drawing room door locking echoed in the silent hallway.
