    Chapter 11

    R‌ea‍d ‌o‌n‌ ‌K‍a‌t‍R‌e‍a‌d‍i‌ng‍Caf‌e‍

What emerged from the forest was a golem of overwhelming size.

A massive golem made entirely of rock.

    “…”

Lucy instinctively took a step back, and Darcan quickly stepped in front of her.

    “Master, stay behind me.”

Darcan drew his sword and glared at the golem.

He showed no sign of intimidation, even though the golem was several times larger than him.

“Step aside, you pile of rocks. No one gets past me without my permission…”

    Wham―!

    Darcan was sent flying.

    The golem had struck him.

    The force was tremendous.

Darcan crashed through several trees and fell to the ground.

He was left sprawled on the ground, his helmet crushed beyond recognition and his legs bent in an unnatural direction.

His sword was nowhere to be seen.

“Damn it, I let my guard down…”

A voice came from the crushed helmet.

    “M-Master, I’ll handle that thing…”

    Thud thud thud!

At that moment, the golem charged toward Darcan.

Then it stomped on him with a loud crash.

    It didn’t stop at once.

The golem continued to stomp on Darcan as if it held a grudge.

    Crash! Crash!

The golem had no expression, but it seemed to dislike Darcan.

The ground where Darcan had been was deeply dented, and thick clouds of dust rose around it.

    Thud. Thud.

Lucy walked toward the golem and Darcan.

For some reason, the golem didn’t attack Lucy.

It seemed the golem’s only target was Darcan.

But Lucy couldn’t just stand by and watch.

After all, Darcan was an undead she had summoned.

She extended her hand and cast a skill.

    “Shadow Bind.”

The shadow extending from Lucy’s hand flowed across the ground and instantly wrapped around the golem’s ankles.

The golem thrashed its massive body around, but the shadow’s bindings didn’t loosen.

    Lucy cast another skill.

    “Abyss Judgment.”

Dark clouds gathered in the sky.

At their center, a purple-tinged darkness flickered, and then—

    Boom―!

A black lightning bolt struck the golem’s head.

    “…”

Lucy looked at the scattered remains of the golem with a slightly surprised expression.

Since it was made of rock, she had used a fairly powerful skill, but she hadn’t expected it to shatter into pieces in one hit.

She couldn’t even gauge how strong the skill’s power was.

    “M-Master… you’re truly amazing…”

Darcan’s voice came from the ground.

“To take down that giant thing in one strike…”

Darcan had been stomped on multiple times by the golem and was now buried in a pit.

Lucy jumped into the pit and looked at Darcan.

Darcan was stuck in a corner.

Only his crushed helmet was visible; his body was buried underground.

    “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. Just a little sore.”

    “Sore…?”

    Can undead even feel soreness?

    Lucy was puzzled.

Undead shouldn’t feel pain, so maybe Darcan’s “soreness” was just his mood.

After all, he had been struck and stomped on by the golem.

Either way, Lucy decided to pull Darcan out.

She grabbed his helmet with both hands and pulled.

    “…”

But no matter how hard she tried, Darcan didn’t budge.

Lucy’s physical strength was too weak to pull Darcan out.

    Plop—

Eventually, Lucy sat down on the ground, her face red.

It seemed she couldn’t do it with strength alone.

She would have to use a skill to get Darcan out.

    “U-Um, Master…”

    Darcan spoke at that moment.

“If you infuse me with mana, I can get out on my own.”

    “Mana?”

    “Yes.”

    “I don’t know how to do that…”

“It’s simple. Just place your hand on me and let your mana flow slowly.”

Lucy reached out and grabbed Darcan’s helmet again.

As she focused her mind, the mana within her body began to move, slowly flowing into Darcan.

    It was very simple, yet…

    “Ah, ahhh…!”

Darcan trembled and let out a strange sound.

    “M-Master’s mana… is flowing into me…!”

Lucy immediately let go and frowned.

    “…What are you doing?”

    “S-Sorry!”

    Darcan answered, sounding startled.

“Your mana feels so good that I couldn’t help it….”

“If you make another weird sound, I’ll cut off the mana.”

    Darcan quickly nodded.

“Understood, Master! I’ll receive it as quietly as possible!”

Lucy sighed softly and began infusing Darcan with mana again.

With Lucy’s mana infusion, Darcan managed to pull himself out of the ground.

His body, which had been horribly crushed, was now fully restored, and he had summoned his lost sword back to his waist.

He knelt on one knee before Lucy and said,

“I apologize, Master. I let my guard down and failed to protect you. But next time, I’ll definitely…”

    “It’s fine.”

    Lucy waved her hand dismissively.

She didn’t bother saying there wouldn’t be a next time.

“More importantly, why was there a golem in the forest?”

Lucy looked at the scattered remains of the golem on the ground.

“And why didn’t it attack me?”

    “Hmm…”

Darcan crossed his arms as if pondering.

“I think it didn’t perceive you as a threat.”

    “Why?”

“Because you are an incredibly lovely being, Master. Perhaps it intended to defeat me and then kidnap you. It might have wanted to do all sorts of sinister things to you. What a filthy creature.”

    “…The golem?”

Lucy gave him a skeptical look.

    It didn’t seem likely.

Maybe Darcan would do something like that, but a golem made of rock? No way.

    “Well, anyway…”

Lucy decided to go back to picking fruits.

It was strange that a golem was in the depths of the forest, but it wasn’t something Lucy needed to worry about.

It was already destroyed, after all.

Lucy walked back to where she had been picking fruits earlier.

She had left her fruit basket there.

    “…”

But she couldn’t take more than a few steps before she had to stop.

Someone was standing in front of her.

A man with long black hair and golden eyes.

    He was incredibly handsome.

His features were like a sculpture.

If the person there wasn’t Lucy, she might have blushed and stared at him blankly.

Of course, Lucy wouldn’t do that.

    “Are you the golem’s owner?”

Lucy asked in a flat tone.

    The man didn’t answer.

He simply stared at Lucy with cold, haughty eyes.

    “…Master, that man seems suspicious.”

    Darcan whispered beside her.

“He might be here to kidnap you…”

    “Stay still for now.”

Lucy stopped Darcan and looked at the man again.

She wasn’t sure about kidnapping, but he definitely seemed suspicious.

For one, she had never seen him in the village, and his attire was anything but ordinary.

The man’s clothing was elegant and refined, giving off an aristocratic vibe.

But at the same time, there was a mysterious aura about him that seemed to fit the forest.

    “You destroyed my golem.”

    Finally, the man spoke.

His voice was soft, like a breeze.

Handsome and with a good voice—Lucy found it somewhat absurd as she nodded.

“Yes. That golem attacked Darcan first.”

    “Darcan?”

The man glanced at Darcan standing beside Lucy.

“Is that the name of that cursed being?”

A look of disdain appeared in the man’s eyes.

    “How rude!”

Darcan shouted, gripping the hilt of his sword.

“I am not a cursed being! I am a noble knight who has pledged loyalty to my Master!”

At Darcan’s words, the man gave a strange smile.

    “Noble, you say…”

Lucy grabbed Darcan’s arm to calm him down.

    That man… he seemed strong.

Darcan probably couldn’t win against him.

“It’s only natural for my golem to attack the undead.”

The man took a step forward.

Just by taking a step, the flow of the air around them changed.

    “This forest is my domain.”

The aura emanating from the man’s body pressed down on Lucy and Darcan.

“I do not wish for unclean beings to trespass in my domain.”

    “Ugh…!”

Unable to withstand the man’s pressure, Darcan collapsed to the ground.

On the other hand, Lucy remained unfazed.

She simply stared at the man intently.

    “Speak.”

The man stood in front of Lucy.

“Why have you brought a cursed being into my domain?”

    The man’s golden eyes flickered.

    Like a burning sun.

    “I…”

Lucy tensed slightly and opened her mouth.

“I just came to pick fruits.”

    The man’s eyebrow twitched slightly.

    “…Fruits?”

It was the first time he had shown any emotion.

“You brought an undead this deep into the forest for that?”

    “Yes.”

    Lucy answered calmly.

“Fruits are abundant deep in the forest, and Darcan was protecting me.”

    “…”

The man fell silent for a moment.

Then, a cold smile formed on his lips as he spoke.

“Even so, nothing changes. You destroyed my golem, so you must pay the price.”

    “The price?”

    “I’ll take your life.”

    Snap—

    The man flicked his finger.

A massive pillar of fire erupted from the ground where Lucy stood.

    Whoosh!

The pillar of fire raged fiercely, as if embodying the wrath of a dragon.

Shotgun shells are loaded, getting PTSD, but I don’t think this story will suddenly accelerate to light speed like the last one

    Probably.

Oh yeah, wonder what gives the mc the confidence. I guess she trusts the “Overpowered” a bit…
