Ch. 40 Regular Meeting
by AfuhfuihgsChapter 40 – Regular Meeting
Unlike usual, Kwon Miae woke up early, took a shower, and quickly cleared her head.
After meticulously washing, she applied simple makeup and then pondered what to wear.
Since this was a one-on-one regular meeting with Guild Leader Arang, she chose slightly oversized clothes to downplay her height and build, hoping to make a good first impression.
After checking herself in the mirror for anything amiss, Kwon Miae put on socks to hide her less-than-perfect feet.
Though the socks didn’t quite match her outfit, Kwon Miae smiled, unbothered.
The reason was that she had a pair of socks identical to the ones she was wearing, only much smaller, right in front of her.
And not just socks, but also small, cute shoes that were similarly sized.
Neat, adorable pink canvas shoes.
If she were small and cute like others, they were exactly the kind of shoes she would have loved to wear.
With a happy smile, Kwon Miae carefully wrapped the socks and shoes. After double-checking to ensure she hadn’t forgotten anything, she was finally ready for the regular meeting.
“I packed socks, gloves, and even shoes… Let’s see…”
Kwon Miae checked the memo on her phone, thinking about what Arang might need during her hospital stay, making one last check before leaving her studio apartment.
‘I didn’t expect to have an offline meeting this quickly.’
It wasn’t as if she’d never had offline meetings while playing LEORE.
Having played LEORE for so long, she had joined guilds, become close to guild members while clearing Raids together, and enjoyed drinks and good times with them.
Since those were all fond memories, she was looking forward to an offline meeting when she joined the [Munchkin Cat] Guild this time, too.
She liked all 12 guild members, including Arang, and thought it would be fun if they could all get together.
At least, she imagined that after playing together for a long time, clearing Raids, and becoming close, they would eventually have a guild regular meeting and an offline gathering. But suddenly, the idea of a regular meeting was announced.
Naturally, Kwon Miae quickly volunteered to attend.
However, adults with busy lives often find it hard to make time for a suddenly scheduled meeting.
Moreover, the regular meeting was set for a weekday, not in the afternoon, but during maintenance hours, making it even more difficult to attend from morning until dinner.
But Kwon Miae, who worked as an athletics coach, had plenty of free time since there were no major competitions coming up in August, so she could commit to the regular meeting without any issues.
The problem was that, out of the 12 guild members, only Arang and she had volunteered to attend.
At first, she was saddened that the regular meeting might be canceled, but Arang casually said, “Shall we just meet the two of us?”
Kwon Miae was taken aback by those words.
She was really looking forward to the regular meeting.
Just the thought of meeting and spending time with Arang, who had the ultimate cute appearance she had always admired, made her heart flutter.
Despite being 15 years old, she was small, cute, and soft, and looked as pretty as if she had stepped out of a manga.
And was she just pretty? No.
Watching the Field Boss Clear video uploaded on RyuTube always gave her chills.
Arang possessed overwhelming physical skills that even most Rankers admired. And her haughty, confident expression, along with the slightly protruding canine teeth when she smiled, were iconic.
She couldn’t count how many times she had watched that video on RyuTube.
Kwon Miae picked up her phone and rechecked the bus route.
Seoul Asan Medical Center was marked on the phone’s navigation.
Kwon Miae thought about Arang as she rode the bus.
Seoul Asan Medical Center. If you were to name the largest and most famous hospital in Korea, both past and present, it would be Seoul Asan Medical Center.
She was shocked to learn that Arang was hospitalized in such a prestigious hospital, but she was determined to make it fun for Arang, who was stuck in the hospital alone.
‘I have to make sure Arang has a lot of fun. And I promised Arang something… to touch Arang’s feet to the extent that Arang doesn’t feel uncomfortable… Hehehehehe.’
She looks so pretty in LEORE; she can’t even imagine how pretty she’ll be in person.
Soft, squishy, and beautiful, she can’t even begin to imagine it.
‘I’m so glad Arang said she’s in a private room, so I don’t have to worry about other people watching and I can play comfortably.’
As an only child with many cousins on both her paternal and maternal sides, Kwon Miae was confident in her ability to play with young children and was filled with anticipation to meet and play with Arang.
Before she knew it, she had arrived at Seoul Asan Medical Center.
The size of Seoul Asan Medical Center, which she had never visited before, was enormous, larger than most universities.
The overwhelming feeling began right at the entrance. There were so many people, and ambulances were constantly arriving and departing, reinforcing her impression that this was the best hospital in Korea.
As soon as she entered, she saw the emergency room and proceeded to the adjacent building.
The reception desk was bustling.
Many people were waiting after taking number tickets, and various individuals were moving about for their own reasons.
Kwon Miae turned on her phone and reviewed the instructions Arang had given her.
‘She told me to go to the staff without taking a number ticket…’
Even though it was a weekday morning, there were so many people because it was Seoul Asan Medical Center, and the staff seemed extremely busy. She felt a bit awkward about cutting in front of those waiting in line to speak.
So, instead of approaching the busy reception staff, she walked over to the large security guard stationed nearby.
“Hello.”
“Hello. Is there a problem?”
Kwon Miae sighed in relief at the security guard’s kind tone and said, “I’m here to visit someone, but I don’t know where to go…”
“You don’t know where the patient is hospitalized? We don’t have the authority to provide that information. You’ll have to ask the patient you’re visiting directly. We’re not allowed to give out information about hospitalized patients, no matter how close you are or if you’re family.”
“She said that if I told the staff here, they would kindly tell me. She said.”
The security guard responded with an “ah” and nodded.
“Are you here to visit Lee Arang?”
“Ah, yes! I came to visit Arang.”
“Okay. Just a moment. I’ll notify the staff in charge. Could you wait here for a moment?”
“Yes.”
The security guard spoke kindly and exchanged radio messages with someone.
Soon after, Kim Hyesun, Arang’s doctor, approached.
“Hello. I heard you’re here to visit Arang?”
“Hello. I’m here to have fun with Arang today!”
“Really? Arang will be thrilled. Please, follow me.”
Kim Hyesun spoke to Kwon Miae, who was walking and looking around.
“Are you a guild member of Arang’s?”
“Huh? Yes! How did you know?”
“Arang boasted about creating a guild and even mentioned having a regular meeting. She said she was really looking forward to it.”
“Ah. Really? Arang is looking forward to it…!”
Kwon Miae felt happy hearing from Kim Hyesun that Arang was also anticipating this regular meeting, not just herself.
Kim Hyesun didn’t tell Kwon Miae about Arang’s condition as Pink Berry Lee Hayan had.
It wasn’t just because she was too lazy to explain.
Kim Hyesun now knew Arang well and was familiar with the LEORE game Arang played.
She had even attended the Arang Arang Gathering and watched Arang play the game on the monitor many times.
Since Pink Berry and Soonchu were also in the guild, and Arang was no longer saddened by her condition and maintained a positive attitude, she assumed that the guild members would naturally know about Arang’s situation.
So, she didn’t say much about Arang and simply provided the necessary precautions.
The precautions were simply about disinfecting upon entering the building.
“Wow… This is different from other buildings?”
“Yes. And you’ll need to keep this with you.”
Kwon Miae received a small, round, button-like pager that fit in her hand and a name tag necklace to wear around her neck.
“What is this?”
The name tag necklace was understandable since it was commonly used elsewhere, but Kwon Miae was curious about the small pager with a button.
“This is a pager. If something happens, it will immediately send a signal to us. It’s unlikely, but if, really if, something happens, you can press this button.”
“Ah… I understand…!”
“You don’t need to be so nervous.”
After receiving the instructions, Kwon Miae stood alone in front of the lounge door where Arang was waiting, her heart pounding at Kim Hyesun’s words that Arang was waiting.
She quickly opened the lounge door.
“Arangnim! I’m here!”
Arang, who had been waiting for [Arang’s Footwiper] in the lounge, looked up at the bright and cheerful voice and greeted [Arang’s Footwiper] with a radiant smile.
Of course, Arang’s face did not change.
