Ch. 174 Inviting Yuna Over!
by AfuhfuihgsChapter 174: Inviting Yuna Over!
We ate an early dinner around 5 PM.
Since the CEO suddenly had something come up, there was no helping it. Still, after running around all day, our stomachs were already empty, so we were able to enjoy a delicious dinner at the restaurant she took us to.
“Haa, that was amazing… I feel like I’ve been to heaven.”
“Me too… I could die happy now.”
“Pfft, you two are so dramatic.”
After finishing our meal and leaving the restaurant, Yuna and I patted our full stomachs and stared blankly at the sky, as if intoxicated by something.
Watching us, the CEO gave a wry smile and checked the time on her phone.
“Well, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’d love to buy you coffee and send you off properly, but I don’t have time today. Sorry.”
“Ah, no, that’s okay!”
“Right, if anything, we should be the ones treating you to coffee…”
Having seen the bill earlier, I felt a little guilty just letting her leave like this, but her schedule was too packed to do anything about it. We’d just have to save it for next time.
“I’ll take the thought for now. Anyway, I’m just stopping by the company before heading home, so you two can hang out a bit longer. Da-jeong, you still have time, right?”
“Yeah, I already said I’d be late today, so it’s fine.”
Yuna was off-stream anyway, and I usually start my broadcast around 7 PM, but today I said I wouldn’t be on until around 8, so we had plenty of time to grab coffee and chat before heading back.
“Just don’t get so caught up in your date that you’re late. You know what’ll happen if you are, right?”
“Hehe, don’t worry.”
“Well, Da-jeong’s responsible, so it’s fine. Unlike a certain someone.”
“Hey CEO!”
After exchanging a few more playful jabs, we parted ways—well, more accurately, the CEO left for the company alone, while Yuna and I continued our date.
“Yuna, where should we go next? A café, right?”
“Yeah, let’s do that. There’s actually a café I’ve been wanting to try!”
“A café you’ve been wanting to try?”
I tilted my head slightly as Yuna’s eyes sparkled with excitement.
Now that I thought about it, Yuna was really good at finding great food spots. If Ra-hee unnie was the type to seek out atmospheric restaurants, Yuna had a knack for discovering cafés and dessert places.
In fact, whenever members were out somewhere, instead of searching online, they’d often ask in the group chat: “Yuna, any good cafés around here?”
Alright, so today, we’d go to the café Yuna had been eyeing.
The café Yuna wanted to visit was surprisingly close to my place—less than a 20-minute walk. It was tucked away in a somewhat hidden spot, so much so that I hadn’t even known it existed.
Once there, we ordered a café latte and a chocolate latte each and settled in. The café wasn’t very big, but that made it feel cozy—the complete opposite of the one I’d gone to with Chae-yoon unnie before.
“They do latte art here, and it’s so pretty. Look, isn’t it cute?”
“Yeah, it’s like a little snow rabbit on a mountain.”
Yuna beamed as she showed off the foam rabbit sitting proudly on her mug.
Well, honestly, Yuna was cuter than the rabbit, but I kept that thought to myself out of embarrassment.
“Ehehe…”
“……?”
Come to think of it, Yuna had been smiling at me a lot since earlier. Was there something behind me? Or did I have something on my face?
Not that Yuna wasn’t already a cheerful person, but today, it felt like she was laughing at the slightest thing—like just looking at me made her happy. It was… kind of strange.
“Hey, Yuna… do I have something on my face?”
Unable to resist, I finally asked, and Yuna answered nonchalantly.
“Huh? No, why?”
“You keep looking at me and laughing…”
“Oh, sorry. I guess I’m just so happy that I can’t stop smiling?”
“Happy? About what?”
What could she be so happy about? When I asked, Yuna nodded eagerly, cupping her face like a blooming flower.
“Your original song is coming out soon, right? I’m just really happy about that.”
“Eh? That’s… why?”
I was mid-sip of my chocolate latte when her unexpected answer made me pause.
That was the reason?
“Of course! You have no idea how mad I was when your song wasn’t approved at first. I almost went to argue with the CEO about it.”
“She must’ve had her reasons. She even said back then that she couldn’t find the right producer for my song.”
I remembered that incident, but it hadn’t really bothered me. Making music was part of the business, after all, and there were always countless factors at play.
In fact, after the announcement, the CEO personally reached out to apologize. She said she knew it might feel like favoritism and asked me to wait a little longer for good news.
But honestly, I was relieved. If my song had delayed the others’ schedules, I would’ve felt worse.
That’s why I was so grateful when VN stepped in. Thanks to her, I got a high-quality song without disrupting anyone else’s plans.
“Still, I hated the idea of you being left out. We’re Blue LUV—we move forward together, right?”
“Yuna…”
A part of me was really touched by her words. Back then, I hadn’t thought much of it because, deep down, I’d figured, “It’s fine if my song doesn’t happen.”
“We are one.”
It was a phrase we often threw around, half-jokingly, when we were all together. But somewhere in my heart, I still separated “Blue LUV” and “Lulu” as two different things.
So, I was grateful.
It felt like she was always pulling me back whenever I tried to step away.
Like she was reaching out, saying, “Come here,” and tugging me forward by the hand. I was so, so thankful to Yuna for that.
Squeeze—
“Thank you, Yuna. I’m happy you’re my friend.”
So I grabbed Yuna’s hand on the table—squeeze—and smiled brightly, pouring my heart into those words.
For some reason, Yuna’s cheeks instantly flushed red.
“Hah, I can’t believe you just say stuff like that without even being embarrassed.”
“Huh? Did I say something wrong?”
“I dunno!”
Her tone was uncharacteristically snippy as she muttered under her breath. I tilted my head, wondering if I’d accidentally upset her, but the way she interlaced our fingers and fidgeted told me that wasn’t the case.
“Anyway, you’re starting recording soon, right? When?”
“Probably in a week? By then, I’ll have finished the lyrics too.”
“I see… What kind of lyrics are they?”
“Hehe, it’s a secret.”
“Tch, stingy.”
Yuna clicked her tongue and dramatically turned her head away, but she still didn’t let go of my hand. It was adorable.
Sorry, Yuna.
But this time, I don’t want to tell anyone.
No—more than that, I especially don’t want to tell the others.
This song isn’t just another new release.
It’s a song I wrote lyrics for as a step forward—as a VTuber, as a member of Blue LUV.
So I want everyone to hear it together.
“Huh? Da-jeong, it’s already past 7. Shouldn’t you be heading back soon?”
“Eh? Oh, you’re right. Time flew.”
Before we knew it, our chatter had eaten up the evening, and it was time for me to go home and prepare for my stream.
Ugh… but I don’t wanna say goodbye yet.
We talked a lot, but it still feels… incomplete, like something’s left unsaid.
I don’t want to send Yuna off like this.
“Uuu…! Guess I should head back and guard the house too. It’s been a while since I’ve been alone.”
“Alone? Why? Is no one home?”
“Yeah, Mom and Dad are on a date night, and my siblings are sleeping over at a friend’s place. So it’s just me tonight.”
I see.
What a coincidence.
But wouldn’t it feel lonely being alone in a house you usually share?
I’ve lived alone my whole life, so I wouldn’t know…
“I’ll just go home, make some ramen, play games, and sleep! Maybe it’s ’cause I ate so much seafood earlier, but I’m kinda craving something spicy.”
Yuna stretched and mumbled to herself, “Uuurgh.”
Watching her, an idea suddenly popped into my head, and before I could think, I grabbed her wrist.
“H-Hey, Yuna…!”
“Hm?”
“U-Um, if you’re okay with it…!”
Since Yuna’s off-stream tonight anyway…
This should be fine, right?
With that thought, I carefully opened my mouth.
“Do you wanna come to my place and have ramen before you go?”
Yuna’s expression froze like she’d been hit with a hammer.
…Huh? Did I say something wrong?
Translator Note
Hey hey everyone!! It’s your translator LegoMyEggo here!! So, someone in the comments and the discord server pointed it out and I feel as if it is important enough to put in a TN as well.
Asking someone to come over for Ramen/Ramyeon in South Korea is roughly the equivalent to asking someone to Netflix and Chill, it’s a sort of pick up line that you will see in things like K-Dramas.
Lewd Lulu…
Thank you to Birdwatcher22 and Kirison from the discord server!!! Much appreciated!!
