Ch. 150 No One Gets Left Behind! That’s My VTuber Way!

Chapter 150: No One Gets Left Behind! That’s My VTuber Way!

    R̀ẽäd̃ ̈ôǹ ̂K̂ãt̀R̂éãd̃ĩn̈ǵC̃âf̀ë

The journey to find the vaccine to cure Chae-yoon unnie.

Since vaccine zombies are incredibly rare, we had to search far and wide, traveling through many places.

Naturally, we ended up in a lot of fights.

The one saving grace was that both Nyangtamon and I were fairly experienced in combat, allowing us to clear out zombies and search without getting seriously hurt. Of course, avoiding areas swarming with zombies also helped.

As we ventured toward the outskirts in search of a vaccine zombie, a quiet sigh from Nyangtamon reached my ears.

“We’re out of gas. Ugh, of all times…”

“There’s a gas station up ahead. Maybe we can get some there?”

“There’s a gas station? Okay, let’s head there first.”

Since I was checking the map, I took on the role of navigator and pointed out the gas station’s location. Nyangtamon turned the car in that direction and thankfully, we had just enough fuel left to make it.

But when we finally arrived, we were met with an unexpected sight.

“…The hell? Why are there so many zombies here?”

    “Uh… yeah.”

    • Wow
    • Disgustingly packed lol
    • Might have to give up on refueling
    • Can they even break through that?

It was a horde of zombies, blanketing the gas station.

Not quite a mountain of them like in zombie movies, but enough to fill every corner of the wide station, standing like unwelcome guests ready to greet us. The problem? We had no choice.

The next nearest gas station was too far, and even if we tried to escape elsewhere, the car could stall at any moment.

“Let’s just clear the immediate area, refuel quickly, and get out of here. That’s our only option, right?”

“Y-yeah, seems like it. At least there aren’t many near the pumps…”

So, reluctantly, we decided to take out only the zombies near the fueling area, refill the tank as fast as possible, and leave. Thankfully, it didn’t seem impossible.

I had Inconspicuous, so I drew less aggro, and both Nyangtamon and I had high stamina, making us strong in prolonged fights.

    [Grrr….]

    Thud! Thud!

We quickly got out of the car and moved step by step, carefully taking down zombies as we advanced. If we could just refuel and get back, we could escape somehow.

But even as we moved cautiously, we couldn’t afford to be slow — Chae-yoon unnie was waiting back at base. Her zombification was already progressing, so we had to find the vaccine and return as fast as possible.

“…Huh?! Lulu, look! That building straight ahead!”

    “Huh?”

My heart pounding, I followed Nyangtamon’s sharp voice and locked onto a building at the edge of my vision. My eyes widened.

Because there, standing among the chaos, was

    “Isn’t that a vaccine zombie?!”

    “Y-yeah, I think so…!”

    • Huh?
    • Oh
    • It’s the vaccine zombie!!!!
    • Finally found it

The vaccine zombie we’d been desperately searching for was right there, clad in a hazmat suit.

The problem? It was surrounded by a seething mass of zombies, as if they were protecting it.

    This was bad.

I’d brought molotovs in case of a horde, but the issue was that items couldn’t be looted from zombies killed by fire as their bodies would burn away completely.

That meant we’d have to fight through the horde purely with combat, take down the vaccine zombie, and retrieve the vaccine.

But just the two of us? It was clearly not enough.

“Lulu, refuel first! I’ll lure some of them away to thin the numbers!”

But Nyangtamon, seeing a glimmer of hope, stepped forward and gave the order. Their tone was urgent, switching between polite and casual speech, but I didn’t have time to dwell on it.

Right now, my job was to follow Nyangtamon’s orders and refuel the car, our last means of escape.

    “Y-yes! Be careful!”

After urging caution, I quickly filled the gas can and rushed to the car to refuel.

    [Refueling in progress…]

Ugh, why is this so slow?! I need to help Nyangtamon!

    Stupid character, hurry up!

Thanks to my internal scolding, the refueling finished faster than expected. I immediately ran toward the building where Nyangtamon was.

“Ah, damn it! They’re swarming like crazy!”

    • LMAO
    • Praise-worthy frustration
    • But seriously, there’s so many
    • Nyangta’s temper is showing

I found Nyangtamon fighting fiercely, their sharp curses mixing with the chaos. Thankfully, their kiting was on point and zombie corpses were piling up noticeably.

The problem? There were still way more alive than dead.

    “I-I’ll help! Nyangtamon, get back!”

“No! I’m fine, you go clear the ones inside first! Take down that one, grab the vaccine, and we run!”

    “O-okay!”

I tried to focus on the zombies near Nyangtamon, but she insisted the vaccine was the priority, ordering me to clear the inner building first.

So I rushed in, weapon ready.

Luckily, since most of the aggro was on Nyangtamon, the number of zombies inside had thinned significantly.

Good, this is manageable alone. Just take down the vaccine zombie at the end…!

    • [‘Marinagi’ tossed a snack donation of 2,000 won!]
    • Lulu, just pull out your gun

“N-no! If I use a gun, Nyangtamon will be in danger!”

    • Fr, guns aren’t something to use carelessly
    • Pulling one out here = death
    • Lulu could escape thanks to low aggro, but Nyangta would be screwed

A cherry’s advice came mid-fight, but I shook my head firmly and kept taking down zombies one by one.

Sure, a gun would make clearing easier, but this wasn’t all the zombies here. The surrounding buildings were still packed, they just hadn’t noticed us yet.

If I fired a shot now, I’d draw their attention, and hell would break loose.

Plus, unlike me who could at least escape thanks to Inconspicuous and high stamina, Nyangtamon would be surrounded and killed instantly.

For now, brute force was our only option.

Unfortunately, my usual weapon had broken, forcing me to rely on a dagger. At least it was stamina-efficient for drawn-out fights, even if it couldn’t one-shot.

    • Oh no…
    • Cleared
    • Go for it, Lulu!!
    • Just grab the vaccine and dip!!

Thankfully, the building was cleared quickly, and I reached the vaccine zombie. Without hesitation, I drove the dagger into its back.

A critical hit, Severed Artery triggered, and the zombie collapsed lifelessly.

    [Zombie Vaccine Vial – 1]

    [Zombie Immunity Vial (2 Hours) – 1]

    “The vaccine!”

    • Oh
    • Yessss
    • Thankfully, they got it
    • Now go save Nyangta, quick!

I immediately searched the zombie’s body and, thankfully, found the vaccine. But… Immunity Vial? What’s this? A new item? Is it different from the vaccine?

    Whatever, I took it anyway.

Now, as the cherries said, it was time to save Nyangtamon.

“Nyangtamonnnnn! I got the vaccine! Let’s get back to the car!”

    “Okay, let’s move!”

While clearing the zombies chasing Nyangtamon, I shouted at the top of my lungs, and they swiftly changed direction. Together, we rushed toward the car parked at the entrance.

Hehe, thank goodness. Now, all we had to do was return and administer the vaccine to Chae-yoon unnie.

    Clunk!

We jumped into the car, and thankfully, the zombies didn’t pursue us further. We’d already refueled earlier, so we could leave right away.

Just as I was grinning in relief

    “…Damn. We’re screwed.”

    “N-Nyangtamon? What’s wrong…?”

    • ?
    • Did they forget something?
    • What happened?

Nyangtamon muttered in a hollow voice, making me and the cherries float question marks over our heads. After a brief silence, she answered.

“Sorry, Lulu. I tried to be careful, but… I think I got bitten.”

    “Huh?! B-Bitten?!”

    • No way
    • Holy shit
    • This is bad…
    • We’re screwed

    That’s right.

We’d obtained the vaccine to save Chae-yoon unnie, but in the process, Nyangtamon had been bitten.

“It’s frustrating, but… let’s just head back to base first. We’ll treat Lilith, then go out again to find another vaccine.”

Unlike me, who was panicking, Nyangtamon remained calm, gripping the steering wheel. I urgently tried to stop her.

“N-no! Zombification varies by person, you might die before we even get back! We need to find another vaccine zombie now!”

Because zombification progresses differently for everyone. Some survive for over a week, but others die within two or three days. And two days in this game is extremely short, roughly just two hours in real time.

There was no guarantee we’d find another vaccine zombie in time, let alone that it would drop the vaccine.

In other words, to save Nyangtamon, we had to hunt for another vaccine zombie now, not return to base.

“And what if Lulu’s unnie is dead by the time we get back?”

    “Huh? Th-that’s…”

    • Ah…
    • They’ve got a point
    • The leader’s time is super tight

The problem was, as Nyangtamon said, Chae-yoon unnie didn’t have much time left either. If we were even slightly delayed searching for another vaccine zombie, we might fail to save her.

“It’s fine. Let’s go back first. We’ll save Lilith.”

    “…….”

As if refusing to listen further, Nyangtamon turned the steering wheel.

But just then, something caught my eyethe mysterious item I’d picked up earlier.

    [Zombie Immunity Vial (2 Hours) – 1]

A byproduct of the zombie vaccine project.

Prevents infection when bitten for a limited time.

Has no effect on survivors already undergoing zombification.

The description was brief, but I understood immediately.

This item wouldn’t help someone already turning, but for two in-game hours (about five real minutes), it would block zombification from new bites.

If I used this, I could fight without worrying about getting infected.

    So… what if?

    “Nyangtamon, I’m sorry.”

    “Huh?”

    Stab!

The moment I realized, I apologized shortly, then immediately injected the vaccine into Nyangtamon’s character.

    They recoiled in shock.

“Wha! ARE YOU CRAZY?! Why’d you use it on ME? You’re not saving Lilith?!”

    • Lulu??
    • They’re saving Nyangta instead?
    • So the leader’s getting abandoned?
    • This is touching but kinda sad…

The cherries reacted the same way. I understood their confusion, why save Nyangtamon at the cost of my precious member?

    But my choice was simple.

    I won’t abandon anyone.

    Chae-yoon unnie, Nyangtamon… I’ll save both!

    Clunk!

    “Lulu?!”

“Stay there! I’ll be right back!”

Without hesitation, I flung the car door open and ranstraight back toward the gas station. There were plenty of unchecked buildings. If I hurried, I might find another vaccine zombie.

    “There! There’s one, everyone!”

    • Whoa
    • LMAO there really is one
    • But there’s way too many zombies
    • Lulu’s gonna die trying to kill that…

Luckily, inside an unchecked building on the right, I spotted another vaccine zombie in protective gear, surrounded by a seething horde.

[Use Zombie Immunity Vial (2 Hours)?]

    Y / N

    I didn’t hesitate.

For the next two in-game hours (five real minutes), I was immune.

    This was my time limit.

    “MOVE ASIIIIIDE!”

I charged in, cutting down zombies as I pushed forward. With no risk of Nyangtamon getting swarmed, I even pulled out my shotgun.

    Bang! Bang!

Thinning the horde, I finally reached the vaccine zombie at the far end

    Stab!

    [Gggeeehh…!]

and took it down just before the timer ran out.

Grabbing the second vaccine, I sprinted back to the car.

“G-got the vaccine! We can leave now!”

“ARE YOU INSANE?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, GOING ALONE?!”

The moment I returned, Nyangtamon scolded me relentlessly. But I could only scratch my head and smile.

“Ehehe… I couldn’t abandon you either, Nyangtamon. We’re comrades now, right?”

    “……!”

    • Lulu… T_T
    • This is camaraderie…
    • Holy shit, I got chills
    • This is better than a movie
    • I’m crying buckets
    • THE LULU

And so, our journey ended in success.

We returned to base and saved Lilith unnie.

    A happy ending for everyone.
