Chapter 145: Lulu, To Live as a Human

While touring the area with Gig in the car, we heard voices coming from the factory. Among them was a voice familiar to my ears.

    “Lucretia unnie!”

“Huh? Isn’t that our youngest’s voice?”

    – Oh, it’s Lucretia.

    – Finally, the Blue LUV members meet lol.

    – Lulu’s voice sounds brighter, huh?

Ra-hee unnie’s voice carried excitement. I immediately asked to stop the car nearby and rushed out. Inside the factory, I found unnie farming.

“Oh, it’s Lulu! Hello, nice to meet you.”

    “Hello!”

Beside Lucretia unnie was another streamer—a male streamer named Wanggae, who often collaborates with our CEO for games.

Naturally, he’s also close with Gig.

Gig, who had followed me out of the car, greeted Wanggae warmly.

    “Huh? Wanggae, you’re here too?”

“I passed by earlier and saw Lucretia being chased by zombies, so I helped. We’ve been farming together since.”

“Wow, really…?! Thank you for saving our unnie…”

    – Kyaa.

    – The Great Wanggae.

    – I hear Lulu’s affection level rising lol.

    – Should we mention how her reaction here is totally different from when she first met someone else?

“Oh, come on, what are you all talking about? I was happy to meet Gig too! It’s just that I’m grateful Wanggae saved Ra-hee unnie, that’s all!”

“Lulu, haven’t you met the other members yet?”

“No, not yet… They should be fine, though…”

“They’ll be okay. We’ll find them together.”

“Hehe, you’re right. Still, seeing you safe puts my mind at ease.”

    – Anyone watching would think they’re really in a zombie apocalypse lol.

    – Lulu’s lowkey immersed af lol.

    – PuineaGig, enjoying the game more sincerely than anyone…

“Of course! You’re at a loss if you don’t immerse yourself in games! Plus, our members are scattered in this wasteland—how could I not worry?!” Lulu retorted.

“By the way, unnie, are you done farming?”

“Hmm, there wasn’t much here. Got some gear, but almost no food. I’m starving.”

“Ah, I have lots of food! Here, take this.”

“I can’t let my unnie go hungry!”

I quickly pulled out all sorts of food from my backpack and dumped it on the ground. It was practically everything I had, but I didn’t mind at all.

“Unnie, you can open the canned food with a can opener first.”

“Thanks. Only our youngest would do this. But where’d you get all this food?”

    “Hehe, just got lucky.”

    – Uh-oh, those canned goods…

    – Nyangtamon watching in tears lololol.

    – “Got lucky” = Waited until someone died and looted their corpse.

    – The warmth of Nyangtamon still lingers…

Ack, don’t twist it like that!

It’s not like I killed Nyangtamon on purpose!

I just happened to be nearby and got lucky, that’s all!

Sure, Nyangtamon asked me for help, but I couldn’t save them because I was weak!

I definitely didn’t wait for them to die!

“Let’s get in the car and move, everyone. We should look for other survivors and find a base.”

    “Yeah, that sounds good.”

Following Gig’s order, we left the factory to get back to the car. Since we’d parked hastily by the road and climbed over a fence, there was some distance to cover.

“Huh?! Guys, watch out! Sprinters! Sprinters!”

    “Ah! Sprinters…!”

Zombies rushed at us, including sprinters—the fast ones. Where did they even come from?

    Bang! Bang!

Firing guns without reason, like before, was out of the question. We had no choice but to fight our way through. The problem was, whether the server had set the zombie count high or not, they were spawning faster than we could kill them.

“Did we talk too loudly in the factory? They’re swarming.”

“Is this okay? I’m obese—if I mess up climbing the fence, I’m dead.”

“Right. But going back is even riskier…”

Gig and Wanggae discussed while fighting. Gig, with the Very High Weight trait, would struggle with fences. Even if he made it, he’d likely get hurt. Earlier, when we entered the factory, there were no zombies, so it was fine. But now?

I couldn’t leave Ra-hee unnie to die, and leaving Gig behind was sentencing him to death. Either Wanggae or I had to draw aggro and cover the retreat.

“Let’s have Lucretia unnie climb over first, then escort Gig.”

Luckily, there weren’t many zombies beyond the fence. If we got unnie to safety first, then Gig, the rest of us could follow.

“Are you sure? If you and Gig leave, the numbers…”

“It’s fine! I can handle it.”

    – Kyaa.

    – Handsome and charismatic Lulu, damn.

    – “I’ll hold them off, just go!”

    – Still prioritizing unnie first, so sweet…

Unnie hesitated but eventually climbed over. Gig struggled due to his trait, falling a few times. Meanwhile, Wanggae and I kept fighting.

    “Okay, made it!”

    “Lulu! We’re all over!”

Good. Now just Wanggae and I needed to cross.

    “Wanggae! You go first!”

    “Huh? Me? You should go—”

    “No! It’s fine, hurry!”

“Ah, okay…! I’ll leave the rear to you!”

As Wanggae climbed, I checked my status on the left side of the screen. Just as I thought.

    “Lulu! Hurry over!”

“Lulu! Come quick! Zombies are gathering here too!”

    – Lulu, hurry!!!

    – If you don’t go now, you’ll all die!!!!

    – Even with a gun, you can’t break through, just run!!!

But I couldn’t climb that fence.

    [Current Condition]

    [30%] Critical Injury

    • Extreme Pain
    • Left Hand:
      • Bite mark
      • Bleeding
      • Bacterial Infection
      • Torn Wound

While covering Wanggae, I’d been bitten from behind. In Project Zomboid, a bite = guaranteed zombification. Without a cure, I was just dead weight.

“Lucretia unnie, Gig, Wanggae… I leave the rest to you.”

    “Lulu…?!”

“I guess this is as far as I go. It was fun…”

    – No!!!!!!

    – Lulu, no!!!!

    – You can still live, don’t give up!!!!

I wanted to live too. There was so much I wanted to say to unnie…

“I’m sorry, everyone. Take care of the rest.”

    “Lucretia unnie…”

    “Yeah, Lulu-chan…!”

Unnie sniffled, pretending to cry. The distance between us felt vast.

“Unnie, if I come back… will you find me again?”

    Unnie nodded without hesitation.

“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely come for you! I’ll find you, no matter what…! Wait for me!”

    “Hehe, thank you…”

    – T_T T_T T_T

    – Lulu-chan T_T

    – Wait for me!!!!

Looking around, the zombies were thinning. My Inconspicuous trait meant less aggro. I could’ve climbed over and lived a little longer.

But I didn’t want to die as a zombie.

    “I’ll die… as a human!”

I grabbed the bleach I’d brought just in case. In Project Zomboid, when zombification is certain and there’s no cure, bleach is the cleanest way to go.

“It was a damn good life!!!”

    – Dr. Lulu T_T

    – Lulu T_T

    – Like a scene straight out of a manga…

Chugging the bleach, my character collapsed.

And so, the life of Lulu’s first character in this Project Zomboid server came to an end.
