Ch. 140 Da-jeong’s Surprise Visit!

    Chapter 140: Da-jeong’s Surprise Visit!

    Ŕêäd́ ̂ón̂ ̃K̀át̀R̂ẽàd̈íǹĝĈáf̃ẽ

It’s been three days since Tofu came to our house.

After finishing lunch and getting ready, I grabbed a small bag and waved at Tofu.

“Tofu, Mommy’s going out for a bit. Eat well and wait for me, okay?”

    “Meow.”

As I spoke to her with concern, Tofu let out a cry as if telling me not to worry.

Feeling reassured by her response, I turned around.

Well, our Tofu should be fine on her own.

She even mastered potty training in just two days and since she’s naturally calm, nothing should go wrong.

With my mind somewhat at ease, I left the house and headed straight to the subway station.

The house that CEO Kang found for me is in a prime location near the station, so it’s very convenient whenever I need to go somewhere. I’m reminded once again of how grateful I am to her.

Today, I’m heading to a bakery that Yuna recently recommended.

In our group, Blue LUV, there are exactly two people who are known as “bread enthusiasts.”

Those two are Yuna and Jia unnie.

But there’s a slight difference between them.

Yuna really loves cakes and dessert-type bread, while Jia unnie loves bread in general, whether it’s for a meal or dessert.

Anyway, since it’s Yuna’s recommendation, I’m sure it’ll be delicious.

Without any doubt, I set off to the bakery.

Hehe, I wonder how it’ll taste?

Yuna said their tarts are amazing.

I’ll eat a few breads, try the tart, and then pack some to take home.

Oh, now that I think about it, I heard they also sell pet biscuits at that bakery.

Since I’m there, I should get some for Tofu.

I’m not sure if she can eat them yet since she’s still a kitten…

If I’m unsure, I’ll just ask the bakery owner.

    Whoosh—

As I was lost in these thoughts, I arrived at the subway platform.

Just in time, the subway pulled in.

Unfortunately, there were no empty seats, so I’ll have to stand.

    “…Huh?”

As I held onto the pole near the door, I noticed a passenger sitting down looking at their phone.

At that moment, I couldn’t help but blink in surprise.

    Whoa, that’s me!

And from the video, it looks like they’re watching the game I played the day before yesterday.

They must be watching a clipping video of me.

    “Hehe…”

The man, wearing wireless earbuds, was laughing while watching my video.

I was a bit stunned by this unexpected sight.

So, there really are people who like me.

Of course, there’s Si-eun unnie, Ra-hee unnie’s younger sister, but since she got to know me through Ra-hee unnie, I consider that a bit of an exception.

This is the first time I’ve seen a complete stranger enjoying my videos. It’s fascinating.

By the way, why is this person only watching my videos?

Please watch the other members’ videos too!

Especially Yuna’s broadcast from the day before yesterday—it was legendary!

I felt like immediately swiping their screen and recommending other videos, but I held back my emotions and got off at my destination.

    Ugh…

I’m grateful that they’re watching my videos, but it feels a bit embarrassing to see it right next to me.

At least the sound wasn’t on.

    “Bread~ bread~ delicious bread~♬.”

Thinking about arriving at the bakery soon, I hummed a tune, making up my own lyrics and melody.

I took the escalator up and finally exited the station.

Then, right in front of me, near the subway exit, was the bakery.

    Ding—

    “Welcome.”

As I opened the automatic door, a small chime sounded, and a cheerful greeting from the staff reached my ears.

    Wow, the smell is amazing.

This is why I can never pass by a bakery.

It’s like a cheat code, a cheat code.

Enjoying the savory aroma, I looked around and took out my phone to check the bread Yuna recommended.

[Yuna] – It’s really delicious! You have to go!

[Yuna] – Personally, I recommend the shrimp baguette and cheese bagel!

[Yuna] – Of course, you have to try the salt bread.

[Yuna] – For dessert, you must try the strawberry tart!

[Yuna] – Oh! The mango tart is also delicious!

Okay, so the shrimp baguette and cheese bagel.

Come to think of it, I’ve never tried a bagel before.

I’ve had salt bread a few times as a snack at work, but…

Following Yuna’s recommendation, I picked up the shrimp baguette and cheese bagel, along with a few other things that looked good.

I’ll eat the rest for dinner later.

“Excuse me, owner. Is it okay for a 4-month-old kitten to eat these pet biscuits?”

“Oh, yes. It should be fine. My kitten is 3 months old and eats them well.”

    “I see… Thank you.”

After confirming, I also picked up some snacks for Tofu.

Now, all that’s left is the tart for dessert.

“Your total is ready. Would you like a receipt?”

    “Yes, please.”

Since I need to keep track of my expenses, I carefully took the receipt and asked for the bread to be packed separately.

I placed the bread I’d eat at the shop on a tray and sat by the window.

    “Yum.”

Without hesitation, I took a bite of the baguette.

My eyes widened, and a scene straight out of a cooking manga played in my head.

    Wow, this is so good!

    Especially the sauce inside—it’s amazing.

    Is that shrimp I’m chewing?

It doesn’t quite feel like shrimp… but it’s delicious!

I want to share this with the members.

Since Yuna has already been here, I’ll recommend it to the others in the group chat later.

    “…Huh?”

As I was happily munching on the baguette, I suddenly remembered something and glanced out the window.

Wait, now that I think about it, where is this place…?

    *****

Jia woke up quite late today.

It’s unusual for her, as she’s known for sticking to her daily routine.

Of course, most internet broadcasters tend to have irregular sleep schedules, but Jia starts her broadcasts earlier than most, and her streams aren’t very long, so she’s usually quite disciplined.

    Yawn… Good morning, Mom…”

“Good morning? It’s already noon. Why are you just waking up now?”

    “I know… But I was so nervous I couldn’t sleep.”

As soon as she left her room and greeted her mom, she was met with a sharp remark.

But Jia also had a reason to feel wronged.

Last night, she was too nervous to sleep properly.

Because today was the day her first solo song, an original track, would be released to the world.

“So, what do you want to eat? Should I make something? I have some soup ready.”

“Hmm, I don’t really feel like eating rice… Do we have any bread?”

“No. You’ll have to go out and buy some.”

    “Aww…”

In the group, Jia is the reliable eldest sister, but at home, she’s just a spoiled daughter who gets upset when there’s no bread.

After quickly making toast for lunch and preparing for her broadcast, she was overcome with a sense of loss and slumped onto the sofa.

She wondered if some delicious bread would magically appear.

“If you want bread so badly, go out and buy some. There’s a bakery right around the corner.”

“But I’m too lazy… I have to prepare for my broadcast soon.”

“Ugh, do the kids at your place see you like this?”

“Of course not. I try to maintain my image in front of them.”

Jia quickly sat up and protested as her mom spoke about the members as if they were her own kids.

There’s no way she could show this side of herself to the younger members.

Even though they trust and follow her as the eldest, she has to maintain a reliable image.

    Ding dong—

    “Huh?”

As she was lounging on the sofa, the doorbell suddenly rang, and Jia looked puzzled.

Her house rarely gets visitors, and the only person who might come is her dad, but he’s away on business and won’t be back until next week.

    ‘Is it a delivery?’

Thinking it might be a package she ordered yesterday, she quickly went to the intercom to check.

There, she saw a girl with a round face standing at the door.

It was a face she knew well.

    “Da… Da-jeong?!”

Shocked by the unexpected appearance of the youngest member, Jia quickly checked her appearance.

Regardless of why Da-jeong came without any notice, she couldn’t just send her away.

But she couldn’t greet her looking like this.

“Mom! Can you open the door for Da-jeong? I’ll quickly change and come out!”

“Da-jeong? Why is Da-jeong here at this hour?”

“I don’t know! Just please do it!”

It was hard to believe that the person who had just been lounging like a sloth was now rushing to change.

Jia quickly brushed her hair and changed into a simple outfit.

    [Missed Call – Da-jeong]

    “Sigh…”

Just to be sure, she checked her phone, and sure enough, Da-jeong had tried to call before coming.

She had set her phone to silent and was sprawled out, so she hadn’t noticed.

    Click—

“Oh, unnie! I’m sorry for coming over so suddenly… Were you surprised?”

After a final check in the mirror, Jia rushed out of her room and saw Da-jeong standing politely at the door.

She looked a bit down, probably feeling bad for showing up unannounced.

“Oh, no. It’s just that I woke up late today and missed your call… But what brings you here?”

    “Well, it’s nothing serious…”

Just as Jia was about to ask about the paper bag in Da-jeong’s hand, Da-jeong held it out and smiled brightly.

“Hehe, I stopped by a bakery near here today and remembered that you live close by, so I brought some bread.”

“Oh… the bakery near exit 2?”

    “Yes, that’s the one.”

    Thud—

    Oh my god.

Hearing Da-jeong’s explanation, Jia was so touched she placed her hand on her forehead.

If she kept looking at this adorable creature, she might go blind from the radiant halo around her.

Not only did she diligently take the subway to a famous bakery, but she also thought of her unnie and came all the way to her house.

What should she do with this lovable being?

“Thank you, Da-jeong. Actually, Jia was throwing a tantrum earlier because she didn’t want to eat without bread.”

    “Huh? Really?”

    “I didn’t throw a tantrum…!”

Meanwhile, as her mom spilled the truth, Jia quickly stepped in, separating the two and taking the paper bag.

“Anyway, thank you so much, Da-jeong. I’ll enjoy it.”

“Hehe, I’m glad it’s not a bother. Well, I’ll be going now.”

“Huh? You’re leaving already? Why don’t you stay for some tea…”

“It’s okay. You have a broadcast soon, right? I don’t want to be a bother.”

Feeling reluctant to let her go, Jia offered some tea, but Da-jeong, who knows all the members’ schedules, couldn’t easily accept.

    “Right… Oh!”

Just as Jia was about to give up, a spark of inspiration hit her.

“Da-jeong, how about doing a simple broadcast from my house today?”

    “Huh? At your house?”

“Yeah, since my solo song is coming out today. How about we listen to it together?”

She suggested a simple listening party for her solo song.

Of course, she wasn’t sure if Da-jeong would agree, but she wanted to spend some quality time with the youngest member.

    And the proposal…

Gasp! Yes! I’ve been looking forward to your solo song too…! I really want to listen to it with you!”

    “Really?”

    It was accepted almost instantly.

And just like that, Jia got the chance to do a joint broadcast with Da-jeong after a long time.
