Dragonic Language – 5
by Shini
“It’s over now.”
Clap clap clap, Pareunari, who had taught me even the last word of the Dragonic Language, clapped her hands as if I had done splendidly.
“I’ve taught you everything I can teach. I never expected you to master it all in less than an hour.”
Unlike Minerva, who still looked as if she had expected me to do this naturally, Pareunari had an incredibly surprised expression. Her wide, round eyes showed no sign of returning to normal.
I was somewhere in between Minerva and Pareunari. After all, the Dragonic Language wasn’t a concept that could be learned so easily, even in the game. To do so, there were quite a few sub-quests that needed to be resolved first.
‘Well, a god must have helped me. Since they were pouring so much attention on me, surely they couldn’t fail to cast a buff like this.’
Of course, I had no intention of questioning it, nor did I intend to deeply contemplate this situation. It was good that I learned the Dragonic Language quickly; any more worrying would be a waste of time.
“I’ve never taught the Dragonic Language to a human before, so I can’t compare, but it’s definitely an incredibly fast pace. Do you perhaps have some special power?”
I do have something special. I replaced my answer with an ambiguous smile. The fact that the Goddess of the Holy Kingdom had called me here was far from a secret I could reveal to anyone.
Pareunari, who had been admiring my growth rate for a long time, eyes wide and clapping, stopped her hands as if something had just occurred to her, and asked a question.
“The favor you mentioned before learning the Dragonic Language, do you want to ask it now? You said you’d have a separate request once you could fully control the Dragonic Language.”
I nodded. Come to think of it, I had said something like that. Originally, I had planned to acquire it step by step, but the situation had changed. I looked back at Minerva.
“Minerva-nim, I am sorry, but would you be able to step out for a moment? It won’t take that long.”
It didn’t matter if Minerva heard about the Dragonic Language. However, to speak about the Dragonic Language, I would inevitably have to speak about the World-Eater, so it was a necessary choice.
Explaining about that guy shouldn’t be casually thrown out here, but rather done in a setting where the Emperor and even the Pope are all gathered.
And Pareunari is of the same race as the World-Eater, which is why.
“I understand. Will it be alright if I return after about 10 minutes?”
“Yes. That should be enough. Thank you, Minerva-nim.”
“It’s nothing. Speak comfortably.”
Minerva smiled sweetly at me, then glanced briefly at Pareunari before disappearing with a teleport. It seemed to be an extension of her attempt to openly kiss me and her being abruptly stopped when she tried to say something.
Pareunari, having received the gaze, shivered.
“Long-lived human, scary.”
It wasn’t entirely wrong. It was just ironic that a dragon, who had lived for at least thousands of years, would say such a thing to Minerva, who was only 400 years old.
“So, what is it you want to ask? I’ve taught you everything I can. I won’t be able to help you anymore. If you want to create a new Dragonic Language, you have to do it yourself.”
“It’s true that I want to create a new Dragonic Language. However, Pareunari-ssi’s help is absolutely necessary. It’s impossible for me alone.”
Even in the game, it was Pareunari who helped me acquire this Dragonic Language. Even though the situation itself had changed and I wasn’t sure if it would play out the same way, I had to try my best to explain.
“I don’t know why you need me, but I understand. I’ll help you as much as I can. What should I do?”
“Before that, I will ask just one question. Is it possible to not only imbue power or concepts into the Dragonic Language but also to enforce the laws of the world upon the target of the Dragonic Language?”
“That’s a bit of an ambiguous expression. Are you trying to create that ‘law’ yourself?”
“I don’t know the exact meaning either, so I can’t answer properly, but it’s probably similar.”
“Hmmmm…”
Pareunari fell deep in thought, then gave a rather positive answer.
“It doesn’t seem entirely impossible. It would depend on who the opponent is. May I ask what you intend to use it for?”
“The story might get a little long, but…”
I explained to Pareunari about the World-Eater. Except for the information the Goddess of the Holy Kingdom had given me. It was better to keep silent about that until they said they already knew.
And, if it was Pareunari, she might have more knowledge about that guy. After all, she was of the same race, and she had said herself that she was the oldest living dragon.
Pareunari, who had been silently listening to my explanation, made an even more serious face as soon as the story ended.
“So, if I summarize what you’re saying, there’s a dragon, and that dragon is trying to destroy the world, right? And it calls that salvation.”
“Yes.”
“I understand why Heltra said that. He must have been corrupted by that guy. It’s a relief that you helped them find peace.”
Hoo, a small sigh was exhaled.
“Let me calculate the size for a moment. If its pupil is the same size as your height, or even larger… it might be bigger than me in my dragon form. I’ve never measured myself, so I don’t know my exact size either.”
Pareunari groaned and calculated something for a long time before finally raising her head.
“Dragons continue to grow as long as they live, so you naturally know that the bigger they are, the more powerful they are, right?”
I just heard that for the first time.
However, Pareunari’s face was so full of conviction that I decided to quietly let it pass so as not to embarrass either of us by admitting I didn’t know.
“According to what you said, it’s at least the size of a small mountain. At that size, it’s a monster whose victory or defeat I couldn’t guarantee even in my original form. You want to enforce the laws of the world on such a monster?”
“That’s right.”
“……First, I need to hear your explanation. What do you want?”
To be honest, I didn’t perfectly understand the Dragonic Language needed for the World-Eater boss battle either. In the game, it just ended with a superficial explanation like ‘it’s like this and that’.
Now, after experiencing such things in hell, I honestly had doubts. Doubts about whether a dragon with enough power to overwhelm the God of the Holy Kingdom would really be brought down by such a trivial Dragonic Language.
“It’s a Dragonic Language that prevents dragons from flying anymore.”
Still, I had to try everything I could.
“Really?”
Pareunari’s expression stiffened. Her wide eyes returned to their original shape.
“Because only then can we even establish a fight.”
In a normal situation, a fight itself cannot be established between humans and dragons. That’s why the Dragonic Language I’m explaining now is needed to seal their flight.
According to Pareunari’s explanation in the game, it was a method of adding the concept of preventing dragons from flying to the laws of the world and then overlaying it onto the World-Eater through the Dragonic Language.
‘Even so, it’s not like it completely stops using its flying patterns.’
Among the World-Eater’s patterns, there was definitely one where it would fly low and sweep half the boss room with its breath. It wasn’t even something added in a Dark Souls-like mod; it was a pattern that appeared in vanilla.
According to the developer’s explanation, it was a display of defying the laws of the world with its own power, but when I saw it in the game, I didn’t feel it was particularly strong.
All I felt was annoyance, like, ‘That guy’s flying again.’
“……I understand what you’re trying to say.”
Pareunari’s expression remained stiff.
“But I’m not sure if that’s possible. I’m not confident. A Dragonic Language that prevents dragons from flying, that’s…”
“It’s absolutely necessary. If we can’t stop that guy, we’re all finished.”
“Mm. So we have to try. I’ve lived for a very long time too, but I don’t want to end my life by someone else’s hand instead of my own will. And…”
“And?”
“You said it was a dragon with scales mixed with black and indigo, and red pupils, right?”
“That’s right. Is something the matter?”
Pareunari, who had been pondering something deeply for a while, shook her head.
“It’s nothing. It feels like something’s about to come to mind, but I don’t know what it is. If I happen to remember later, I’ll let you know.”
“You can take your time thinking about it. Then, now-“
“Child?”
Someone interrupted the conversation. It was Minerva’s voice. Wondering if 10 minutes had already passed, I looked in the direction of the voice.
But somehow, the number had increased compared to when she left.
At the very front was Kaikilia, followed by Floreta and Luna. Minerva was at the very back. I froze at this completely unexpected combination, and Pareunari had a question mark floating above her head.
Kaikilia, who had returned not in a suit but in her usual uniform, sent a chilling gaze as soon as she saw Pareunari next to me. Hiccup, a hiccup sound was heard.
“Your Majesty the Emperor? Even Your Holinesses the Popes? What brings you here?”
When I called them Your Holiness the Pope, Floreta and Luna’s faces became sulky. Their cheeks, puffed up with air, swelled poutily.
“You no longer need to be formal with us sisters, Delta. Even if it’s in front of others.”
Floreta’s way of addressing me had changed.
I immediately noticed the fact because it was a title I had been called for a very long time, from our first meeting until now. Clearly, just yesterday I was an Honored Guest, but not anymore.
“That’s right, Delta. There’s no longer any need to hide the relationship between us sisters.”
Luna was the same. While I was flustered, wondering what had gotten into them, the Popes approached me. Then they each took one of my arms and tucked it between their chests.
“No need to hide, what do you mean by…”
“Your Majesty the Emperor?”
Before I could even finish my sentence, Floreta called out to Kaikilia.
“Silence. Even if you don’t rush me like that, I will take care of it myself.”
Kaikilia steadily closed the distance, clearly showing her displeasure. Her steps only stopped after she had approached to a distance where only a few fists could barely fit.
“Your Emperor commands you. Listen quietly.”
Her arms, clad in uniform, went under her chest and crossed.
“Knight Commander of the Jet-Black Holy Night. You are mine. You have been mine since the moment I set my eyes on you, you are mine now, and you will be mine eternally.”
The front of her leather boots nervously tapped the floor.
“However, it is also no ordinary matter that the Sun and Moon have chosen you directly. Since a god has chosen you, the Holy Kingdom will not abandon you either.”
One step. The distance narrowed further.
“At this rate, we would clearly run on parallel lines forever. Therefore, the Pope made a proposal to me. She suggested that I hand the reins of this matter over to you.”
Along with a sweet peach scent, her lips parted.
“Which side are you on, Delta?”
