Chapter 132: Human Law
by fnovelpia
The crudeness disappeared from Bukkake’s attacks.
When he first appeared, blinded by rage, only the power of his attacks was threatening, while the attacks themselves were incredibly simple.
Now, having completely suppressed his anger, he regained the skill befitting a ninja, displaying a dazzling complexity that was hard to read even with a Swordmaster’s foresight.
“Ugh…!!”
A sword that deflected my katana’s strike with snake-like, dazzling movements sliced my shoulder.
Those movements, more animal than sword, reminded me of the whip used by Bondage Master during the Demon Sword Society incident.
The only difference was that Bukkake’s weapon was a solid sword, while Bondage Master’s whip was soft and flexible.
“Wolffang!!”
After immediately stopping the bleeding by hardening the blood with Wolffang’s power, I looked at Baek Jeong-nam standing beside me.
Like me, Baek Jeong-nam’s shoulder was also cut and bleeding, but he had stopped the bleeding by greatly swelling his muscles.
“…I’ll create an opening. Attack in that moment, got it?”
Knowing that asking for agreement would likely lead to another childish argument like before, I rushed forward without seeking his consent.
Though Bukkake had heard our hastily made plan, with me charging at him, he had no choice but to intercept.
“…How absurd.”
Bukkake, his face filled with killing intent, quietly waited for me, gripping his sword in a reverse hold.
“Vacuum Slash Whirlwind!!”
A barrage of vacuum slashes, nearly equal in number to the shuriken Bukkake had thrown earlier, rained down on him.
However, far from dodging, he nonchalantly took all the attacks head-on.
At first, I thought he was that confident in his defense, but I soon realized that wasn’t the case.
The small vacuum slashes tore his body to shreds. But almost simultaneously with the slashes tearing through him, his flesh instantly regenerated, returning to its original state.
‘This is beyond just fast regeneration…’
I knew that becoming a Myne granted regenerative abilities like magic beasts, but who could have expected such an insane speed?
Taking advantage of my shock at this unbelievable sight, his sword swung towards my neck.
It was too late to dodge. As I tried to at least concentrate energy manipulation on my neck to minimize the damage…
“…Huh?!”
My body started moving away from Bukkake’s sword as if being sucked into something.
“Chukji!!”
Baek Jeong-nam, who had grabbed my midsection with a strange footwork technique and leaped far back, looked at me with an incredulous expression.
“Creating an opening my ass… I’ll make the opening, so you just wait quietly behind me.”
“Shut up, you saw it too. Ordinary attacks won’t give him any meaningful wounds.”
Though I said that, Baek Jeong-nam, who had been watching that unsettling regeneration from behind, seemed to agree and fell silent.
We didn’t know how powerful that regeneration was, but from what we’d seen so far, even if we cut out his internal organs, they’d regenerate instantly.
To inflict meaningful damage on him, we needed an attack that could stop or hinder his regeneration.
“…I have a good idea.”
“You got holy water or something?”
“Who’d carry that around?”
With those words, I charged at Bukkake, and was immediately met with another shower of shuriken.
“I told you, I won’t let my guard down anymore.”
Whatever attack I was planning to show, he seemed intent on stopping it by making me deflect the shuriken, but that wasn’t a good idea right now.
“Baldo Art…”
Ultra-high temperature heat erupted from my scabbard, forming a sun-like circle that met the incoming shuriken head-on.
Baldo Art: Rising Sun.
A technique that creates a circle of heat from friction and launches it at the enemy, burning their body and setting them on fire. This technique should be able to damage him.
Seeing the scorching heat melting the incoming shuriken as it advanced, I thought this would work, but…
“Water Dragon Technique!!”
“Water what…?!”
The next moment, a water dragon spewed from his mouth, swallowing up the heat and chasing after me.
“To use such a large Water Dragon Technique in a place without water…!! You’ve become much stronger than 80 years ago.”
Baek Jeong-nam seemed to know about this Water Dragon Technique, as he marveled at its power but didn’t seem particularly surprised by the technique itself.
‘Water Dragon Technique? Is chakra actually real…?’
For a moment, I had such a stupid thought, but looking closely, the water dragon was enveloped in mana.
In other words, it wasn’t some imaginary technique like ninjutsu, but magic used to create water and shoot it out in the shape of a dragon.
“Water Dragon Technique my ass, it’s just magic!!”
“It’s not magic!! It’s ninjutsu!!”
Saying this, he spewed out two more water dragons at me. They merged with the first one, transforming into a three-headed dragon that bore down on me.
It was an attack that seemed like it would crush my body with tremendous water pressure the moment it touched me, but knowing it was magic, there was no need to fear.
I put a great distance between us, and just as the three-headed dragon was about to engulf me, I sliced through the magic formula forming the dragon’s body, cutting through the magic itself.
The three-headed dragon’s form collapsed, turning back into ordinary water.
“If you’re going to use magic, you should say so…”
As I was about to snap at Baek Jeong-nam, I was suddenly struck speechless by the enormous mana I felt from Bukkake.
The mana surge was so intense it became visible, shooting high into the sky. Its power far surpassed Marina’s weather magic that I had seen before.
“Hey, you’ve fought this guy before, right? What the hell is he trying to do?”
“…I don’t know. He didn’t have ninjutsu like this 80 years ago…”
The mana surge that had shot into the sky fizzled out anticlimactically, not causing anything despite its impressive display.
If it had been another wizard here, they might have thought the spell simply failed, but who was standing before us now?
A madman who had stubbornly trained in magic for 400 years, insisting on calling it ninjutsu as if he’d wasted those years.
I couldn’t believe such a person would use that much mana on a spell that was obviously going to fail.
“What on earth…”
Looking up at the sky, our only clue, we soon discovered the secret of his magic.
A meteor, not particularly large but certainly big enough to devastate this area, was falling from the sky, trailing flames.
“…Is that an illusion spell?”
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to be.”
A meteor that size falling would kill even Bukkake who cast the spell, so what was he thinking? Looking at Bukkake, I saw he had shrewdly set up a barrier around himself.
“You conscienceless bastard, how is that ninjutsu? Does it make sense for a ninja to drop meteors?”
“Hah… It’s the Meteor Fall Technique.”
Bukkake, hiding behind his barrier, was panting heavily. Even for a Myne, it seemed he couldn’t casually use magic that dropped meteors.
Should we take advantage of his exhaustion now to break through the barrier and take him down?
No, even if we managed to defeat him that way, we’d still lose our lives to the falling meteor right after.
“Baek Jeong-nam!! Throw me up!! I can do something about that meteor!!”
“What nonsense… How the hell are you going to do anything about a meteor?!”
“I’ll use Manhai!! So hurry up and throw me!!”
“Manhai? What bullshit…!! Whatever happens, I’m not responsible!! Naro-ho!!”
With that ridiculous technique name, he launched my body into the sky. He must have thrown me incredibly hard, because in no time at all, I was right in front of the meteor.
“Manhai…!! Wolffang Pong-pong Sword!!!”
Wolffang’s blade, drawn from its scabbard and brimming with demonic energy, clashed with the falling meteor.
“Ugh…!! Aaaaargh!!”
The impact felt like it would tear my arm off, but I couldn’t back down now. If I did, not only would I die, but Jessica and Hori on the ground would die too.
I concentrated energy manipulation on my arm to keep it in place, then somehow managed to cut through the meteor. It began to disappear from the world, turning into foam along with the enormous flames that had enveloped it.
“I did it…!!”
But my joy was short-lived. As a second meteor, hidden behind the first, revealed itself, my face fell into shadow.
‘What should I do, there’s not enough time to draw Wolffang again…’
I hurriedly tried to return Wolffang to its scabbard, but the meteor would reach me before I could.
“Shit…”
Just as I thought this was the end and slightly closed my eyes, a deafening roar made them snap open.
“Aaaaargh!! What are you doing?! Hurry up and cut that meteor with your Japanese sword!!”
When I opened my eyes, Baek Jeong-nam was somehow beside me, holding back the falling meteor with both hands like a giant from mythology.
But even with superhuman strength, he couldn’t completely stop a falling meteor. His fists were burning from the tremendous impact and heat.
“Hurry…!! I can’t hold on much longer!!!”
“Ah, right…!!”
Taking advantage of Baek Jeong-nam holding back the meteor, I once again swung Wolffang’s blade, charged with demonic energy, towards the meteor.
The next moment, instead of a red-glowing meteor, countless bubbles floated freely across the sky.
