Chapter 62: S#11. Exosister (1)

    S#11.

    “…This is a true story.”

Nancy Strode, sitting on the sofa, held a flashlight.

She illuminated her small face from below.

She looked like a beautiful ghost.

The dark house was fitting for a scary story.

“A man and a woman were driving and got hungry, so they went to a burger place.”

    “…”

“They were too lazy to get out of the car, so they went through the drive-thru. When they ordered a cheeseburger meal, the clerk asked this.”

    ‘Would you like three servings?’

“Three servings? That’s strange, right? There were only two of them in the car, the driver and the passenger.”

    Nancy continued the story seriously.

“The couple thought the clerk had just made a mistake, so they didn’t think much of it. After leaving the burger place, they went to a gas station because they were low on gas. The gas station owner looked at them and asked.”

‘Are the three of you coming back from a trip?’

“Again, three people. That’s when the couple started feeling uneasy. They slowly turned to check the back seat…”

    “……”

“…There was no one there. It was just the two of them in the car. They felt relieved. After refueling, they were about to start the car again when it suddenly jolted.”

    Nancy lowered her voice.

“When they got out to check… there was a huge burger demon clinging to the roof…! Eek!!!”

She screamed and hugged me tightly.

Why is she getting scared after telling the story herself?

And the story is utterly ridiculous.

    “Nancy, what’s a burger demon…?”

“It’s a burger but also a demon! Isn’t it scary?!”

As I was dumbfounded, Nancy widened her pretty eyes.

“Summer! When a terrified lady is trembling, you should kindly hug her shoulders.”

    “Is that so…?”

“Haah~ Do I have to teach you everything… You’d be in big trouble without me.”

As I gently held her slender shoulders, Nancy smiled and buried her face in my chest.

I cleared my throat a few times before speaking.

“Now it’s my turn to tell a story.”

“Yes. Please make it so scary I can’t sleep tonight.”

“It happened in an ordinary house. One day, the only daughter of the family suddenly…”

    Ding-dong-

    The doorbell interrupted me.

    Who could it be?

I went to the front door and opened it. A black figure was standing there.

My heart shriveled like a raisin.

    “A demon…?”

    “A demon? It’s me, Reiko.”

On closer inspection, it wasn’t a demon.

It was Reiko Ishikawa. Because she was wearing black clothes, I thought she was a demon for a moment.

What is the bewitching medium from next door doing here so late at night?

“What brings you here at this hour?”

“Summer. I need your help. A girl in the city is in danger.”

“Danger? Shouldn’t you call the police?”

“No. They can’t help at all.”

“Why not? There’s more than just Bob Bojangles in the police force.”

“It’s not that kind of issue.”

    Reiko replied.

    “A demon has appeared.”

    Raei  Translations

The targets of demons in horror movies are surprisingly limited.

    Girls/Dolls/Houses.

In particular, innocent and helpless girls often face dire situations.

Perhaps it never gets old to see the child who needs protection turn into a monstrous threat.

To stop the rampage of a demon-possessed girl, countless lives have been sacrificed on screen.

Tonight. I might be one of those sacrifices.

“A poor girl is possessed by a demon. Please lend me your strength, Summer.”

“I don’t know anything about exorcisms.”

    “You have experience, don’t you?”

Come to think of it, I once casually mentioned the story of a box possessed by a demon (Mr. Strode).

I had casually mentioned that I ‘put a demon to rest,’ and it seemed Reiko had taken it seriously.

    This was troublesome.

I wanted to decline, but since it was Reiko asking, it was hard to turn her down.

Now that even the narrator had disappeared, Reiko was my only savior.

If I offended her, my return home might be forever blocked.

“…Alright, Reiko. I’ll help as much as I can.”

“Thank you for agreeing so readily.”

At that moment, I heard a presence behind me. It was Nancy, pouting with her cheeks puffed out.

She glared at Reiko like a cat, hissing.

“Where are you taking my boyfriend… I mean, Summer, at this hour, Ms. Reiko!?”

“It’s Ms. Ishikawa. Summer is just stepping out with me for a bit.”

    “Who decided that?!”

    She looked displeased.

I stood face to face with Nancy.

“Nancy, you said it yourself. When a scared girl is trembling, you should kindly hug her shoulders.”

    “…….”

“Right now, somewhere, a child is trembling in fear.”

That was my excuse for going out. Surprisingly, Nancy seemed touched.

    “As expected, Summer… you’re so cool…!”

Leaving Nancy behind, I left the house.

The place where the demon supposedly appeared was a 10-minute walk away.

    Reiko stopped at a spot.

    “This is the place.”

It was a two-story wooden house shrouded in fog.

It looked old-fashioned but had a somewhat eerie atmosphere.

The windows on the second floor looked like the eyes of an evil entity.

It felt like stepping into a place I shouldn’t enter…

When Reiko knocked on the door, a man with graying hair came out.

Judging by the robe with a cross, he seemed to be a church pastor.

He looked extremely tired, as if he had just escaped from being buried alive.

    I spoke.

    “An exorcist is already here.”

    “…I’m the girl’s father.”

    The pastor said.

    I was a bit surprised. A clergyman’s daughter possessed by a demon?

Reiko and I entered the house.

A large cross hanging in the hallway caught my eye. Holy pictures and crosses were all over the place.

Not the kind of place a demon would like.

In the living room, a middle-aged woman was sobbing. She was the pastor’s wife and the mother of the demon-possessed girl.

As soon as she saw Reiko, she ran and clung to her desperately.

“Please… please, save our daughter, Naomi…!”

    She almost screamed, crying.

    The daughter’s name was Naomi.

“Don’t worry. Naomi will be safe. We’ve brought a demon-banishing specialist.”

Reiko said confidently. Of course, by ‘demon-banishing specialist,’ she meant me.

It was a heavy burden. The pastor also looked at me with disapproval.

We went upstairs to see Naomi.

Even the hallway on the second floor had crosses, but they were all upside down.

Moreover, there was a strange, foul odor. It was nauseating.

We opened the door and entered.

On a white bed lay a girl about 15 years old.

    This must be Naomi.

    But her appearance was terrible.

Ashen skin, disheveled hair. Her eyes were hollow, and her face was full of scars. She looked just like a possessed girl from a horror movie.

The wife went to the bed and stroked Naomi’s forehead.

“Naomi, honey… can you hear me?”

Then Naomi’s eyes snapped open. They were all whites.

    “Naomi isn’t here, you b*tch!”

She opened her mouth wide. Green vomit spewed out in a straight line with immense pressure, like a fire hose.

The thick stream of vomit hit the wife directly, sending her flying. She crashed through the door and fell over the second-floor railing.

    The pastor was horrified.

    “Honey!!”

Naomi jumped out of bed and, with a screech, lunged at the pastor.

I reached out and stopped her.

As I grabbed her by the neck, Naomi struggled fiercely.

She had incredible strength. It felt like I was facing a rhinoceros, not a girl.

Is this the power of the demon?

    “Let go of me, human!!!”

    “Ugh…!”

Naomi opened her mouth wide at me, as if she was about to vomit again.

Before she could, Reiko moved. She pulled out a talisman and slapped it on Naomi’s forehead.

    Naomi’s strength drained away.

We forced her onto the bed and tied her up tightly so she couldn’t cause any more trouble.

Bound, Naomi spat out a chilling laugh.

“Kahahaha! You will all die! You will fall into hell and be r*ped by the burning c*cks of demons!! Instead of c*m, they’ll spew lava and burn you from the inside out!!”

    “Oh, God…! Save us!!”

The pastor knelt by the bed, sobbing.

He prayed frantically, but it had no effect.

His daughter continued to mock his faith with vulgar demonic curses.

Leaving behind the fierce scene, we went downstairs.

The wife was holding an ice pack to her forehead.

Though she had been hit by the vomit and thrown back, she didn’t seem seriously injured.

“My daughter changed like this… after she came back from Bible camp.”

    The wife said, crying.

“A few days ago, there was an incident where all the kids who went to the Bible camp disappeared. The other kids are still missing, but only Naomi came back home.”

    “What happened at the camp?”

“The police are investigating. Whatever happened, Naomi must have experienced it directly, but she’s like this now… ohh…”

    A mass disappearance.

    Naomi returned alone.

Something evil must have happened at the camp.

Maybe someone conducted a demon-summoning ritual, or disturbed a sealed relic, awakening a dark entity.

For something like that to happen at a Bible camp…

    Reiko stood up.

“May I look around the house for a moment?”

    The pastor guided us.

We walked down a long hallway, passing various pictures hanging around the crosses.

Reiko stopped and asked the pastor.

“Pastor. Have you ever had any interest in demons?”

    “What do you mean…?”

“Have you ever offered a live sacrifice to a demon, or performed any demon-related rituals? Anything like that?”

    “Listen, I’m a clergyman!”

The pastor pointed his finger at Reiko, shouting.

“This household has no such blasphemous past! We raised our only daughter very piously!”

Reiko picked up a photo hanging on the wall.

“Contrary to what you said, there’s a wrinkled demon in the photo here.”

    “That’s a picture of my mother-in-law.”

She naturally hung the photo back on the wall.

    At that moment,

    Creak─── creak──────

We heard the sound of someone stepping on the stairs.

We all looked towards the staircase.

    “…Naomi?”

Naomi, who had been tied to the bed, was standing on the stairs.
