Wolf Hunt #2
by Afuhfuihgs
“There’s a road that continues to a place like this.”
Mitchell said, whistling.
This is inside the underground waterway.
A secret passage extends between the precarious cave walls, which appear ready to collapse at any moment.
The fact that the end leads to the vigilantes’ secret hideout was already known in advance.
“If you hear anything, tell me right away, Mitchell.”
“Yeah. Don’t worry.”
Mitchell’s ears are like living radar.
The elves’ superhuman hearing detects threats ahead.
If anything, with my “Clairvoyance” ability, it’s safe to say that there’s absolutely no chance of us being ambushed in the dark.
“senior.”
“yes.”
Flora, who had been following me when I called, had sparkling eyes.
The look of extreme nervousness is evident.
Well, that makes sense.
My first real battle against humans, not monsters.
Mitchell and Wagner have a lot of experience, so there’s no need to worry, but this guy is a little uneasy.
“If we don’t punish those guys, countless innocent people will die. You understand?”
“Oh, don’t worry. I know how to tell right from wrong to that extent.”
“The cause belongs to us. So don’t hesitate and fight.”
“All right!”
Flora nodded vigorously.
Fortunately, there was no longer any wavering in his eyes.
“fizzle.”
Mitchell, who was walking ahead, raised his finger.
We immediately stopped in our tracks.
“There are people up ahead. Maybe three.”
“Are you coming this way?”
The secret passage is not something that can be used unilaterally by only one party.
Just as we can invade their hideout, they can also invade through the underground sewers.
Just like Max did.
“No. It’s just standing still. It doesn’t seem particularly alert. I’ll have to get closer to find out more.”
“Then I’ll check.”
It’s my turn next.
He focused his magical powers on his gloves, creating a vision that could see far into the distance.
My vision races down the passage leading to the underground cave.
“I can see it.”
I muttered softly.
As Mitchell said, there are three vigilantes. However, the atmosphere is not threatening.
“I made a bonfire and brought out the lunch box. ⋯Are you here to eat?”
“You came all the way here? You must be joking around. Let the kids escape.”
“Okay. What can I do? I could wait until they leave.”
Mitchell pursed his lips as if to say, “What are you talking about?”
“You call that a lie? We need to thin out their numbers by at least one when we get the chance. Let’s go first and attack them.”
“I agree with Mitchell.”
Even the taciturn Wagner nodded.
We slowed down and approached the guys, making our footsteps quieter.
By the time I got close enough to see them with my own eyes.
“Hehehe – this looks delicious.”
The laughter of the vigilantes could be heard.
We hid behind the rocks in the cave and watched them.
“Look at the oil floating in the meat broth. Wow—my mouth is watering.”
“Mom, add some chili powder and pepper. That way it tastes just right.”
“I know even if you don’t say anything, you little punk.”
The vigilantes were all preoccupied, with their snacks placed on the bonfire.
The stew is bubbling and the savory smell is wafting in.
“But Dawson doesn’t know, right? What if he finds out we’re stealing food from the food storage…?”
“Don’t worry. There’s no way he’d go to the warehouse and count every pound of meat or sack of rice. He’s a precious person, so why would he do such tedious work himself? He’ll never get caught.”
“but.”
“Okay, let’s eat.”
The vigilantes thrust their faces into the steaming mess.
They keep moving their spoons as if they are competing, and they slurp down the soup, coating their mouths with it.
“You’re defenseless.”
Wagner whispered quietly.
“Should I attack now?”
Mitchell said in a cool voice.
Although they look pathetic, the guys in front of me are clearly vigilantes.
If it sticks properly, it might be a bit of a headache.
But they were all focused on eating.
It is the time when attention spans are low and we are most vulnerable, regardless of whether we are human or beast.
“I’ll strangle him. You finish him off.”
“okay.”
I gathered magic power in my fingertips.
I plan to use the magic of “Symphony”.
Although he doesn’t have the power to strangle someone with just his mind like Darth Vader, he is still strong enough to subdue three humans.
If you don’t know how to resist, you won’t be able to escape on your own.
He stretched both hands forward and opened his palms towards them in a blasting stance.
It wouldn’t be a problem if the guys were moving around, but since they’re just sitting there like that, it’s easy to aim.
Kuk.
I clenched my palms.
An invisible magical force stretched out across the space and grabbed their necks.
“Ugh, ugh-”
“Wh, suddenly, what is it, ugh-”
The vigilantes groaned, unable to breathe properly.
The meat broth that they couldn’t swallow flowed out of their mouths.
The vigilantes desperately groped for my neck.
As if struggling like that would free something from strangling him.
However, the power of psychokinesis is intangible. There are only two ways to escape.
Either interrupt me while I cast psychokinesis, or break free with a force stronger than psychokinesis.
“Ugh….”
Both were too much for the guys.
Knock knock.
Wagner and Mitchell ran out from behind the rock, their movements swift as a leopard’s.
Snap!
Maces and kicks rained down on the heads of the vigilantes who were suffering under the effects of psychokinesis.
The sound of bones breaking was heard, and their eyes quickly turned cloudy.
“Fuck!”
As his two comrades fell, the eyes of the remaining vigilante changed.
The man moved his hand to the hilt of his sword with bloodshot eyes.
“Fucking bastards-”
Even as he suffered from psychokinesis, the vigilante moved his body creaking like a broken doll.
“They say you don’t even touch a dog while eating-”
Slurp.
Foamy saliva flowed from the corner of his mouth. He drew his sword with a hateful gaze.
The next moment.
phut-
A magic bullet flying from afar struck the vigilante’s face.
The man could not continue speaking and fell to the ground.
“Phew.”
Flora took a deep breath.
“Magic Arrow.” This isn’t the weak power it once displayed in the old underground sewer.
Flora also gained experience in real battles and raised her abilities with magic stones.
Now, even Flora’s magic has the power to take human life.
“Good job, miss.”
Mitchell chuckled and patted Flora on the shoulder.
“This cloak looks like it could be useful right away.”
Wagner said, removing the cloaks from the vigilantes’ corpses.
The Vigilante group’s emblem is large and engraved on the back.
If you cover your face with a hood, you can completely hide your identity.
Mitchell, Flora, and I put on our vigilante capes.
Wagner already has his vigilante armor on, so he doesn’t need a cloak.
“Then shall we continue?”
“Oh, wait a minute.”
I squatted down in front of the boiling stew.
I tasted a spoonful.
“hmm.”
It tasted pretty good.
The broth was a bit oily, but it was seasoned to taste like gamjatang.
“We’ll be busy soon, so let’s grab a hearty meal and head out. They’ve already set the table.”
“That’s fine.”
Mitchell came over and sat down next to me and said,
We ate food that the vigilantes couldn’t even eat.
We have to eat. We have to eat to survive.
People may have sins, but food has no sins.

The underground cave was a natural fortress.
Even in the game, it was quite difficult to clear it using the correct method, but seeing it with my own eyes, the difficulty was unbelievable.
If the guards had entered here without any countermeasures, they would have been annihilated in an instant.
“Hurry up, kids! It looks like the guards are up for a fight.”
“Let’s take this opportunity to crush all the low-level things.”
The vigilantes ran around the hideout with grim faces.
By now, outside the cave, the guards will be drawing aggro according to the pre-planned operation.
Dawson’s face, feverishly hot, seemed to appear before my eyes.
“Fortunately, no one seems to have noticed.”
Wagner spoke, carefully observing the surroundings.
The vigilantes were so busy preparing for a sudden battle that they didn’t pay attention to us, who had infiltrated secretly.
“But there are quite a lot of people. Forty, no, fifty… This won’t be easy.”
Mitchell frowned under his hood.
Mitchell is confident in her fighting skills, but even she wouldn’t dare rush in against dozens of heavily armed vigilantes.
“It’s okay. If we follow the plan, we can blow it up in one go.”
We have initiated action.
From now on, speed is key. To move more quickly, we’ve split the party into two groups.
Flora and Mitchell are in one group. And Wagner and I are in the other group.
The goal is simple.
Rescue the dwarf engineers who were forced into hard labor and, with their help, seize the vision cannon.
“Then let’s meet again later.”
“Be careful, kid.”
“you also.”
I unfolded the map. I had already mapped out the structure of the underground cave with my telescope.
I also know where the dwarves are imprisoned.
The area Wagner and I are in charge of is the area on the right side of the underground cave.
While I was walking along the maze-like passageway, urging my steps.
“Hey, big guy.”
Suddenly, a vigilante appeared in the hallway and spoke to me.
Wagner and I stood still.
“Why is that?”
Wagner answered in a low voice.
The vigilante continued speaking calmly, as if he hadn’t noticed anything unusual.
“What are you doing here? Didn’t you hear? Dawson told us all to gather at the central commons. Is it okay for you to wander around here leisurely?”
Wagner caught my eye briefly.
“Ah, of course I heard. I forgot to bring some equipment. I’ll get it and join you soon.”
“Really? Hurry up. If you’re late, Dawson’s gonna beat you to death.”
“hmm.”
The vigilante put his thumb on his neck and stuck his tongue out frivolously.
Leaving the vigilantes behind, we continued down to the prison where the dwarves were being held.
“As you said, it looks like all the troops are gathering in one place. But, Estelle, how did you predict that in advance? Do you have some kind of foresight?”
Wagner tilted his head.
Well, if you ask me why.
It’s not something you can answer by saying, “Because that’s what happened in the game.”
In a way, Wagner was right.
To the humans of the “Nine Stars” world, I must have the ability to foresee.
“I just thought it would be like that.”
“I don’t know for sure, but it’s amazing.”
Wagner was convinced by the somewhat roundabout words and did not say anything.
“Hey, guys! I’ve finished everything you asked me to do. Now, can I have a beer? I’m dying of thirst.”
“I would really appreciate it if you could give me just one piece of boiled dog leg as a side dish… Click click.”
As we approached, the dwarves locked inside the prison shouted loudly.
“We are not vigilantes. We are here to save you.”
As Wagner said, the dwarves did not look very happy.
The dwarf who seemed to be the leader among them grumbled, rubbing his beard.
“Why are you coming now? If you were going to come, you should have come a little earlier.”
“That’s right. I worked hard to make the cannon, so you’re saying I should just leave it behind?”
“Oh my. I can’t even fire a single shot⋯.”
The dwarves clicked their tongues and sighed.
‘He really isn’t in his right mind.’
Dwarves are a race of craftsmen born with exceptional dexterity.
Even if it was a cannon that was forcibly made after being kidnapped by Dawson, they would never have made it carelessly.
As it was a cannon made by mobilizing all of the technology, it seems that they were proud of the result.
‘As expected.’
However, I had already figured out that characteristic of the dwarves.
There is no other way to deal with these stubborn dwarves.
“Don’t worry. I’ll let you fire the cannon as much as you want. Just shoot until you get tired of it.”
Rest assured, dwarves.
I’ll give you a new target to shoot for from now on.
